Had a very nice meal here with a friend yesterday. They do have happy hour appetizers out and there is a nice bar area, but we ate in the main restaurant. Cute ambiance, amazing wait staff and good value for the quality and portion size. The bread brought for the table was perfect crispy outside, soft inside. All the dishes were well made. I took a lasagna plate to go for my adult son and he loved it as well. Best part is how well-trained their staff is; I ordered a diet coke and they let me know they were out and offered other suggestions. I went with a water but not five minutes later they came with a diet coke! What kept them from 5 stars? There is no dedicated parking lot and the area around them (north of them is fine but south down the street is another story) is sketchy at best and doesn't seem particularly safe to park your car on the street. This place isn't bad but it could definitely use some improvements. I ordered delivery from here and got chicken wings, chicken Alfredo, and garlic bread. The garlic bread was just bolillo bread (the kind of bread you eat with menudo) with butter and garlic seasoning. The chicken wings were also really soggy and for some they were all dark brown on the inside. It was really unappetizing to see. The Alfredo wasn't too bad. Visited 1/26/2023 First I need to say they need to change their address here on Yelp. The present address is, 538 E Street, Brawley Ca. Had to give them 4 Stars for the excellent flavor of their Delicious Pasta Sauces and food. The Lasagna was delicious but could have used more Ricotta Cheese. Again the Red Sauce was the Star. The Fresh Baked Italian Bread was fantastic although be careful as you might just get filled up on it and not be able to Finnish your Pasta dish. We tried the Fried Zucchini and found the breading very tasty and dipping it in more of the fantastic Red sauce wad a treat. I went with The Fettuccine with The Meat Marinara Sauce and Italian Sausage and Meatball's. Excellent and a nice large serving to boot. It's has a bar ambience with music in the background on one side and white tablecloths on the other. If your in a rush this isn't the place for you. It's a place to slow down and enjoy your meal. More of a down to earth Atmosphere family style. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. read more

We came here three nights in a row for after work drinks and some rounds of pool.. The price of the drinks were pretty reasonable and at least one of the two pool tables were always free to take. The reviews regarding the actual restaurant were very poor ( we stayed in the lounge area) .... But decided to order some pizza instead driving around looking for a restaurant... That pizza was bomb! Thin crust with plenty of topping and they gave you real shaved cheese you can spoon on. Very good. The waitresses /bartenders were very nice and efficient. Right across from the Brawley inn....like it! Would like to mention how very sweet and accommodating Melissa is ....excellent bartender! Update 06/29/17- we've been eating the restaurant's food three days in a row- wow- great flavor and portions. 3 stars is pushing it! The food here is good - not great but good. What is really abismal is the bartender, don't go in the bar if you want service. This girl is unconscious. In the dining room, service is hit and miss. Some of the wait staff is attentive, others - I'm not sure why they show up for work. Ultimately I'd have the blame the management, they don't know how to direct their employees. However, it is good Italian since it has no competition nearby. read more

Small town feel for a "hole in the wall" restaurant. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but there is a warm welcome for you on the inside. Very friendly staff will serve you. The menu has good build your own pasta (choose a noodle and a sauce), good soups (minestrone, pasta fagioli), nice little side salads, and all the expected Italian staples (e.g. veal parm, Fettuccine Alfredo, lasagna, cheese ravioli). They also have great looking steaks (rib-eye, filets) that come with fresh veggies (broccoli and carrots and baked potato) - my friend had the ribeye and it was huge, and he loved it. Next time I would try that. My other friend ordered the lasagna, and didn't love it as it was too oniony for their taste. If near the area, it is worth a visit. read more

Run. The food was horrendous. I asked for the steak that was on the placard, nope we are out ( there's only 3 tables with any one at them in the entire restaurant). Okay, I'll have the New York strip, nope we are out. Well how about the seafood? Yes, I'm in!! Great!!....Not great! The dish smelled strange, tasted like eating a firehose soaked in dirty dishwater. The white sauce actually looked like dirty dish water. The fried mushrooms tasted like they were fried in oil that hasn't been changed since the revolutionary war! Food wasn't bad. I had the muscles in a half, they were dry rubbery and lacked taste , also the chicken Marsala. It wasn't great Service was not awesome, we had table of 4 ,half the table received food about 10 minutes after first plates came out and it took literally 15 Minutes to receive our wines after order. My steaks were cooked perfect and my girlfriend pasta was extra spicy like she ordered it . Disclaimer: I am Sicilian, and so I judge Italian food more harshly than the average person (read: someone who eats at Olive Garden). As far as eating in Brawley goes, I'm positive you could do worse. I came here with a large group of co-workers for dinner late one night. They actually kept the place open later for us, which was very cool. They've got a good selection of beers on tap. But after a long day of sucking dust and baking in the heat of Glamis, I went with a huge glass of water. My body needed those life-giving nutrients. For an entree, I had the veal parmigiana. It was calling to me and, although I wasn't sure this was the right venue for eating such a meat, I had to go with my gut. Thankfully, my gut didn't reject the baby calf placed within. This might not have been remotely close to the best veal I have eaten, but it wasn't the worst, either. I came here expecting average Italian cuisine and that is exactly what I got; no more, no less. We were booked into Assaggio to dine with 25+ others as part of a large group outing. When we got to the restaurant, they had indeed set up two long tables for our group. But that appears to have been the extent of their preparations. Two overworked, nice young women were trying to wait on all the other customers. And as it turned out, they were going to be expected to wait on our entire group as well. We ended up waiting for 45-odd minutes for a beer and a basket of bread. That was after the waitress's response to "What draft beers do you have?" was, "None!" And after we asked what bottled beers she offered, she said, "What kind are you lookin' for?" Oh yeah ... we also had to ask for a glass to go with the bottled beer. Classy! We eventually decided that things could only get better for the rest of our group if we cleared out and lightened the load for this poor, inept staff. No idea how the dinners turned out. The bread was pretty good -- even if they don't seem to realize that many health-conscious diners nowadays prefer olive oil to butter. read more

Worst service Ever. Servers were cold & unfriendly. We ordered Chicken Alfredo, the chicken tasted like it had been boiled. We ordered a steak dinner which came with potatoes only. $19.99. The steak was burnt and hard to chew, the potatoes were bruised. They cooked them, then cut them in pieces. All the pieces were bruised, the potatoes were nasty. We ordered shrimp salad, the shrimp was old looking & tasted dry. The water tasted like it came from the sink. I've never written a bad review til today. My family absolutely loves this place. Everytime it gets mentioned to anyone that has ever been there they all go "Mmmmmm..." The staff is really nice I can't think of a time that they were assholes. They are always making sure you are fine, but not in an annoying way. It's not the best decorated restaurant but it's fine the staff and food make up for lack of decor. The food is s heavenly. I have been to many italian restaurants but this place really hits the love spot. Their salad is delicious, the dressing is kind of sour/sweet but the ingredients they add to it makes it taste so delightful. Any dish you have from there is amazing I can't think of one thing I have had from there that I would never order again. They do have a full service bar and it is sectioned off so you can have a nice dinner then walk a couple feet to the other side of the place and get wasted. Came here with my parents since they wanted to try it out. Prices were really high and the portions are really really tiny. They also charge you a service fee for card, or add 2$ to all bills split. The spaghetti and meatballs were bland; the sauce was too sour, and the meatballs while large, were insanely sweet and the whole thing just tasted like school food. The chicken Alfredo barely had any chicken in it, and was more of a watery mess than an Alfredo sauce. The complimentary bread they gave was fresh, but it felt like stale bread once it cooled down. The minestrone soup was teeny tiny and didn't have any noodles in it, just some broth and a couple spoonfuls of carrot and celery. Service was lacking too, which was weird considering there were only 4 tables. Also paying was funny as hell; we got 17 in change but the waitress gave us all one's which was an obvious prod at asking for a tip. read more

Yet a party of three used the the table next to us and the waitress went and got their order right away and returned three times. Must him have been regulars since she had a conversation going with them. I had to go to the bar to ask for pitcher of 805. WOW!!! While previous reviews say the service was lacking, I found the service to be wonderful especially by our waitress Nicole. The kitchen staff was also very accommodating when I asked if I could order an entree off their lunch special board. Unfortunately what I wanted was not available but they did allow me to order a burger instead. On the other hand I found the food to be underwhelming for the price point. My husband had the salmon special with a bourbon sauce which was served with a large salad and streamed veggies. This was $18.00 and looked fantastic, but the flavor was predominantly a maple syrup flavor and the veggies were very bland and could have used a butter sauce or garlic sauce for flavor. The salad was large and good. I had a burger in a lettuce wrap which had a good flavor and was seasoned and cooked well, but a bit pricey at $8.90 for just a burger with a couple of leaves of lettuce, one tomato slice, a few onions, and a pickle spear. I also had a cup of minestrone soup which could have been served warmer and with some fresh grated parmesan or perhaps a bit of crusty bread with butter. The hit for both of us was the tiramisu which we shared for dessert. It was a large piece, with excellent flavor and we particularly enjoyed that the lady fingers were not saturated into mush. For $3.50 this was a great and perfectly priced way to end our meal. read more

Poor food, poor service. Eight of us came in. All of us got our meal but three had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Then one was left after 40 minutes, they came and told her that they didnt have calamari, that they would give her a free dinner salad. Way too expensive for the quality. $12 for an entree, and if you wanted a salad, it was an additional $3.90. Manager made all kinds of excueses, and never an apology. We stopped in this morning for breakfast. Guest thing we noticed was the dirty floor, then the dust on window sills. The ceiling fans had Soo much grime on them. This owner needs to be ashamed of himself/herself. No excuse for lack of cleanliness. The food was mediocre and half way cold. This place obviously doesn't care our try to capture customers. I was excited to go to this restaurant because I've stayed in this hotel many times before. I come to find out they've changed it to an Italian place which is fine because I like Italian food. I walk in the restaurant and find the manager yelling at her worker. She was yelling at her for not handling the customers bill the right way. I was so turned off by the way she was treating her worker. The worker was clearly shaken up and should not have been treated that way. I wanted to leave but there was nowhere else to eat so I was forced to order. The food was sub par but I was also bothered that when I asked for extra ranch and also told I was willing to pay for it she looked at me funny the manager and almost threw it in my bag. After an hour dinner arrived my was burnt my wife received the wrong order, but my son's was good. Our waitress never checked in on this again. My daughter ordered the tiramisu. Great find in Brawley. Veal Marsala (under $12) was flavorful and appetizingly served. Quite restaurant with quick and friendly service. I would highly recommend it to anyone passing through.
