Not trying to be critical because they are super nice and patient but it's extremely difficult to understand them and there's only so much you can do because you will NOT be given contact information directly to the office you want to call. The follow-up visit was scheduled in my hometown, only to find the place CLOSED for the day. I was told that I had the wrong date and that it was on another day. That would have been very odd for me to have agreed to that since I was going to be on VACATION and OUT OF TOWN. I stood in front of the receptionist the day I put it in my calendar and repeated the date several times, which she agreed was accurate. When I finally got in for the visit to get the prescription for my new glasses, the doctor totally botched my prescription. Once it was filled, I can't see anything. I knew something was off when I looked at the power of the bifocal. It has NEVER been that high. Their "correction" left me seeing things cross-eyed. Trying to get back in to get this prescription corrected and they wanted to charge ME. Took some doing to get that fee removed. They FINALLY called me back with another appointment, however, I've made another appointment with my regular optometrist. My NEXT cataract surgery will be done somewhere else. BTW...mine is the first and only review for the Toledo office. You will notice that they have several locations in Ohio and Michigan. Look at all the reviews before making a decision. You will find that many are saying the same things at the locations where they went.

After waiting an hour and having an assistant want to numb my eye with out even knowing if my eye needed treatment, I left the office. I've always like and had confidence in Dr. Abowd but an hour wait is ridiculous. Also no one communicated with me to say there would be a wait. That is typical of this office. 6 months ago I nervously entered the building to receive LASIK. I had observed a patient enter the…read moreoperating room right before me and I was able to see part of the surgery on the screen. The doctor who took me in was so calm, pleasant, and gentle that I felt so calm going into the operating room. He talked to me the entire time and spoke about things he was doing. The surgery happened so quickly and I was out the door in about 30 minutes. The pressure on the eye was interesting but I felt absolutely no pain. All the side effects they said I would notice did occur and I felt prepared for that due to their preparation prior to surgery. I am six months out now and I have not had any issues, I am able to see clearly and even would say that I see better now than I could with glasses or corrective lenses.
