I read about Dr. Ball online, and from what I can tell, he is known as one of the top glaucoma surgeons and specialists in the country! He has performed three successful laser surgeries on my eyes. I find him to be a serious but very personable doctor who is willing to explain anything to me, and he has a sense of humor. He is busy, but he does what he needs to do and then is off to the next patient. One thing about how they run things at Des Moines Eye Surgeons where is he, (and also I know Wolfe Clinic also), is that you will be shuttled from one waiting room to the next until you actually see the doctor. It is well run, with plenty of nurses and medical assistants, but it can be an hour or an hour and a half before you are out of there. With Covid-19 now, the five or so doctors on staff there alternate days they come in, so the large main and the other waiting rooms are not packed as they are when all the doctors are in. Today, in all the large waiting rooms I was in, there were at most four people - well spread out. My only complaint was that one guy wore his mask under his nose. I just stayed about 20 feet away from him. As for Dr. Ball again, I give him top marks for his abilities, personality and communication skills, compared to many other doctors I have seen over the past 15-20 years especially. All of the staff are very good and friendly, which helps also.

It took a month before hearing back, then I was informed my prescription was out dated. She left a message on my phone, don't call us will call you. This went on for another two weeks, once I called they said my glasses were in. I returned home, the lenses were scrach, on top that I had a veterans exam. I am informed that I need to have another exam in that it was not approved by the veterans affairs. Veterans don't brother going to this business for exams.

The staff is all amazing - easy to book appointments online, over the phone, or in person. They go over all insurance coverages and will provide itemized receipts for your visit. A great collection of eyewear from great brands. I definitely recommend this place, the only down side is it's not covered by my insurance but I am willing to pay out of pocket. I have never had a place help me find such comfortable and affordable contacts for me, especially with my astigmatism.
