I have struggled with mental health challenges for most of my life. No matter how much effort I put…read morein, I often didn't respond to traditional treatments. In September 2025, my psychiatrist, NP Shadette Soriano, recognized that something still wasn't right and recommended HealthyU's PHP and IOP programs. I am incredibly grateful that I took her advice. From beginning to end, my experience with HealthyU has been nothing short of life-changing. It's true that "it gets worse before it gets better," and I feel so fortunate to have had such compassionate clinicians and supportive peers beside me during the hardest parts of treatment. After nearly six months in the program, I came out stronger, more prepared to manage my illnesses, and learning to love myself a little more along the way. There is no way I could have done this without HealthyU. IOPs are called intensive for a reason. There is a full curriculum, deep emotional work, and days when you want to quit--my advice: don't. You don't have to show up at 100% every day -- the facilitators will meet you wherever you are and help carry the percentage you don't have. They genuinely care about every person who walks through those doors and truly want you to succeed. The group setting reminds you that you are not alone. The peer support is something you never forget. I have made lifelong friends who understand me without judgment, and I offer them that same understanding in return. In my heart, I know I would not be where I am today if I hadn't admitted myself to HealthyU. I don't know if I would even still be here. If you are feeling lost, lonely, or afraid that life will always feel this way, please consider HealthyU. There are people there who care deeply about you and will help you find your way forward.

Welp 2 weeks later and not a single message or call. He said they needed to find me a detox but that there's a "team" for that. It's funny because I called my insurance and was given names of approved detox centers in less than 5 minutes. Called them and was able to get in with no issue...thankfully. To think of all the people who don't advocate for themselves and continue with their addiction because companies don't care to even help them. No wonder people are struggling when you have companies like this. Definitely letting my insurance know to stop working with them. What a shame!!

I am currently self pay and you would think they would have some compassion for people looking to better them selfs but no. You miss an appointment by phone and the punish you by not letting you take your medicine smh seems kinda harsh. also you have to attend a phone group meeting before you dose NO they don't allow you to take your dose before the meeting , so you will have to sit through the meeting sick as a dog oh and they want you to participate while sick. But they are quick to not call you when you set up an appointment with them or they call you to reschedule?? What if your thinking of using and you need to talk you your counselor and they call you to reschedule smh. They do not prep you for holidays if you have to show up everyday you better go early they close their doors earlier than what they have on their business hours they will play with your dose they move you up in dose with out you allowing them or down. And if you tell them you have discomfort the tell you to sleep it off. All in all the people at the front desk are pretty cool it's the counselors (Derek) and management the ones who don't seem to care. Try calling the counselor Derek and see if you can understand him on his answering machine when he gives you his personal number 858-bfjdjdhdjdj extension (8!;):$) .... Since I am self pay I've been asking them to find me clinics that take my insurance and they just seem to not want to loose my 12$ a day I give them smh

On Monday, July 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM, I visited the hospital due to a referral from my stomach…read moresurgeon. The surgeon had recommended an emergency room visit for abdominal pain/vomiting. Upon arrival, I remained quiet and sat alone in the emergency room. This was my first experience at this particular facility, as I had only visited Scripps Green and Scripps Lajolla. During my ER wait, I felt anxious and apprehensive. The atmosphere in the emergency room was unsettling, reminiscent of a crime scene. A security guard wielded a long red stick, threatening to strike a homeless individual who refused to comply. The homeless individuals present responded with aggressive behavior, including yelling and screaming. After approximately one hour, I was summoned back to the hospital. The only available bed was located in the hallway, not in a private room. I endured a two-hour wait before receiving a CT scan. The CT scan technicians were unprofessional and sarcastic, giving rude looks, exhibiting a lack of courtesy and respect. Furthermore, four male nurses or staff members stationed at the entrance to the registration area engaged in inappropriate behavior, cursing and acting in a manner that belied their professional roles. Many of the nurses walked the hallways with egregious attitudes. NEver seen four of the female nurses act this way, I really was asking myself. ..Why am I still here in this ER and not driving myself to Scripps La Jolla, or green hospital. I Simply asked one of the nurses where the nearest restroom was..she gave me a go to hell look and walked right past me, not even answering me. In contrast, my attending physician, Dr. Katherine Ross M.D., was exceptionally pleasant and attentive. I had no complaints about her bedside manner. I am scheduled to undergo surgery at this hospital in the near future, but I have decided to cancel the appointment. I intend to seek care at a safer hospital where I feel secure and where professional medical staff conduct themselves with professionalism and respect. I will thoroughly review my medical bill with my insurance provider to ensure that I am not overcharged. While I appreciate my surgeon's expertise, I will not undergo surgery in an environment that induces fear and discomfort. I strongly advise individuals considering this hospital to exercise caution and explore alternative options. I have great insurance. I am not going to be paying to be treated like a piece of Garbage, to be scared and frightened in a ER. UCSD Hospital, Scripps Lajolla, and Scripps Green are all safer alternatives. Only.

There were many days in which I felt as though my problems just weren't big enough to really need therapy. Other days, I was too stubborn and in denial, thinking I could do it on my own. However, it was one of the best decisions that I've ever made for my mental health and stability. Taking that step and calling Serene Health helped me see that, no matter how insignificant you may think whatever you're going through is, it really isn't. They made me realize that, yes - I can do it on my own, but I don't need to. They are there for you in any way you need them to be. Serene Health exists for us. The process is simpler than I thought it'd be too, and they've been very understanding and accommodating from the start. I've never felt looked-down on or pitied. I feel heard with them. Personally, I can say that my therapist, Amy, has honestly been a Godsend. She's helped me get in touch with myself and let go of things that were holding me back - some of the things I wasn't even aware of until she helped me take off those rose-colored glasses. She took the time to really see me and didn't let any obstacles stop her from finding the best ways to help me. And it really helps that I'm able to talk to her from the convenience of my own home. This experience has rekindled that fire, that drive and passion to live again instead of just exist, going through the motions. I have hope again. Thank you, Amy. And thank you, Serene Health. I highly recommend reaching out to them.

Sorry I even asked my insurance for help, since I got assigned to Serene Health…read more I spent a total of maybe 10 hours in communication with 5 different people. No practical help. At all. I was a domestic violence victim, had emergency surgery and found out I had cancer all in the week. After an almost hour long assessment with housing coordinator, who I had to contact after 2.5 weeks (she said she would call me back with options in a week), texted me the number to a charity; one that I already tried a month prior. It's as if she didn't listen to me at all during the assessment for my needs. Then I needed my case manager to find out why my walker hadn't been delivered. Never did. I had to call on my own and find out the order had been cancelled and rework the whole thing. I needed help with transportation costs, no. I needed help getting OTC meds, no. At the end of the day I only got a headache from them Wasted my time when I was sick and exhausted. I did most of the contacting healthcare providers, resources and then have to report to case manager what I did. Cancelled as soon as I could and then harassed me with calls and texts until I told my insurance to get them to stop before I put in coercion complaint. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAID, NO THEM! Good Riddance.
