Great experience with KVN Construction. This guys helped me…read moreto fix my Portland short term rental property. They were able to get it done relatively quickly. Fix my siding, and roofing in just 2 weeks. The price was greate based on the amount of work they provided. I will definitely recommend them if you're looking for a siding contractor that you can trust!

There were some highs and lows in my experience with KVN, but with several months behind me to give…read moreme perspective, I believe I can write a review that will be helpful and fair. First are the things I did wrong: 1. I didn't get any other bids so I spent the entire project wondering if I was paying too much. 2. I didn't understand KVN is a contractor only - the trucks that come out to do the work are going to have different company names on them. That information is clearly stated in the contract but, related to #1, I didn't read the contract closely and missed it. So I spent most of the project wondering how much more I was paying to have someone act as a go-between with these other companies. 3. Because of #1 and #2, throughout the weeks it took to remove old siding, put up new siding, put up the gutters, and paint the house I was always on edge and quick to anger when something went wrong. Notable missteps by KVN: 1. There was some miscommunication about a small part of the house that they considered porch and I considered house. When we realized this, first day, I could see their position and asked how much it would cost to add that part. I had three different people tell me they'd get back to me with a cost - they never did. 2. Whoever they used for gutters had to take them down and install new ones twice - it was the third install that finally worked. KVN didn't catch the first errors (but maybe they would have if we hadn't checked first) but they did tell them to redo the 2nd install before we were even told it was done. 3. The painter painted the windows shut. We didn't know that until after everything was signed and paid, so we just fixed it ourselves. But the contractor is responsible for the work of the subs - so I'll call this their mistake. What KVN did right was they seemed to genuinely want me to be a happy customer. I didn't realize how much that mattered until a neighbor was having some work done and I saw first-hand the difference between having a contractor who is hoping to leave the customer happy (KVN) vs. one who just wants to get paid (the neighbor's). Made me think I was ready to write a review, I hope it was fair.

Da Bella Sales reps came to my 93-year-old Korean War veteran fathers' home for quote on roof replacement. they invoiced him over $32,000. and got a check for $7,000 down payment. Fortunately, i found out 2nd day of 3-day cancellation period in contract and cancelled. Sales reps showed up at house after cancellation to inquire why. They were rude, telling me as far as they were concerned, I did not exist. They had a signature on a iPad device which was clearly not his signature. I kicked them out of the house. All the way out to the street they continued to tell me i had no authority and I did not exist as far as they were concerned. Incredibly rude. Like i would let the job proceed after this????? Apparently, this is a new business model that some roofers are adopting. Da Bella is a sales company that acquires contracts and then subcontracts with local roofers for the work and then the homeowner cannot rectify any problems later on. This has all been documented in other reviews. I even contacted the Dept of Revenue about a business license and was told that no license existed in the Da Bella name. The DOR also emphatically recommended that I stop payment on the check IMMEDIATELY. I did. I hired a local Roofer called Valiant Roofing at a cost of $13,000 to re-roof dads ranch style house. How is DaBella allowed to do business like this?????

When does a gift stop being a gift?…read more When the recipient is left carrying the burden of fixing it. Between 2021 and 2023, our nonprofit animal sanctuary was blessed to receive donated roofing, siding, and windows through a partnership involving High Performance Homes, Owens Corning, James Hardie, and Simonton Windows. We were deeply grateful and publicly thanked everyone involved. Today, we're asking those same companies to look at what was actually installed. Our documented concerns now include: * Mold-affected sheathing that was specifically agreed to be removed--but wasn't. * Bird blocking that was supposed to be repaired, leaving our attic vulnerable to years of pest intrusion. * A roof leak caused by improper installation. * Roofing components that did not initially meet the requirements for the Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Warranty. * Windows installed without proper flashing. * Siding installed over deteriorated materials. * James Hardie products that were cut but not sealed as required by the published installation instructions. * Hundreds of nail holes filled with caulk instead of the ColorPlus touch-up system, leaving our home looking like it has chicken pox covered in calamine lotion. The proposed solution? Paint over the caulk. But a James Hardie representative told us the factory-baked ColorPlus finish and field-applied paint weather differently over time. Today's touch-up becomes tomorrow's two-tone house. So we have a sincere question. **Owens Corning, James Hardie, and Simonton Windows: Is this the level of workmanship you expect from contractors who represent your brands and your reputations?** We're not asking for upgrades. We're asking for the quality, workmanship, and manufacturer-compliant installations that were promised from the beginning. We've spent months documenting contracts, emails, inspection reports, photographs, and manufacturer guidance. We remain hopeful this can still be resolved professionally. Because when a gift creates years of avoidable problems instead of peace of mind... ...it stops feeling like a gift.
