Between 2021 and 2023, our nonprofit animal sanctuary was blessed to receive donated roofing, siding, and windows through a partnership involving High Performance Homes, Owens Corning, James Hardie, and Simonton Windows. We were deeply grateful and publicly thanked everyone involved. Today, we're asking those same companies to look at what was actually installed. Our documented concerns now include: * Mold-affected sheathing that was specifically agreed to be removed--but wasn't. * Bird blocking that was supposed to be repaired, leaving our attic vulnerable to years of pest intrusion. * A roof leak caused by improper installation. * Roofing components that did not initially meet the requirements for the Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Warranty. * Windows installed without proper flashing. * Siding installed over deteriorated materials. * James Hardie products that were cut but not sealed as required by the published installation instructions. * Hundreds of nail holes filled with caulk instead of the ColorPlus touch-up system, leaving our home looking like it has chicken pox covered in calamine lotion. The proposed solution? Paint over the caulk. But a James Hardie representative told us the factory-baked ColorPlus finish and field-applied paint weather differently over time. Today's touch-up becomes tomorrow's two-tone house. So we have a sincere question. **Owens Corning, James Hardie, and Simonton Windows: Is this the level of workmanship you expect from contractors who represent your brands and your reputations?** We're not asking for upgrades. We're asking for the quality, workmanship, and manufacturer-compliant installations that were promised from the beginning. I signed on a Thursday, and looking at the contract, they do include the cancellation form which states 3 business days. But the date written on that contract is May 3, which is a Sunday, since when is Sunday a business day? Anyway, I signed and returned the cancellation form on a Sunday, and now they're trying to get me to attend an exit interview before they bring this to a manager and cancel the contract. You get that by buying a lot of OwensCorning supply. They'll show you some chart from the Journal of Light Construction. You'll ignore these signs because everything will be light and polite, seem like you're setting up to work with a great company. Then, after this hour+ of talking, they'll turn on you--start pressing you into locking in $40k on the spot for a roof. They'll offer you arbitrary discounts if you commit sooner. And when you try to ask for some time to consider, like any normal human being would, they'll press harder, try to interrogate you about why your finances won't work on this knee jerk $40k cost. And when you inevitably realize how insane the whole process is and tell them you're done with their bullshit, they'll STILL try to get a day from you where they can call and continue harassing you. Protip: tell them you'll call THEM when and if you're ready for their shit again. Sales pitch was rehearsed addressing most asked questions. When it came to complaints I was shown how over a 12 year period there were only 3? Currently the Better Business Bureau was 10 plus in the last year. One of which was a leaky roof job previous to mine. I was looking to do 2 bathroom upgrades and a roof. The rep focused on the roof, staying he would do this great job on them. To date he has not returned any calls. Contacting the company was through Josh Gaskil who did was very poor at his job, passing off problems to others, stating he would reach ou to his "Team" if he returned calls (which was rare) same or similar answers were given, 'in my opinion a team is a group where each member does the job they are hired to do" "when a customer has a problem as manger title you own it until its resolved. He did not, using trendy words such as reach out to the team / we are committed to 5 star service / 5 star experience / He may have not had the authority to do so? So verbiage, blaming others, not working things out etc were his problems. The owner of the company has BBB complaints, the company has BBB complaints. Look them up for yourself. I can not trust the folks who run this establishment, The workers did the job they were sent to due. A subcontractor stated that HPH bought the cheapest parts for the job, used the lowest bidders for subcontracting, at another job site. The person sent out to give the quote was late (with no communication) and then wanted me to sit with them for over an hour to go over options. To get the appointment to have someone come out they wanted a solid commitment for me to be available and to set time aside and then they didn't show up when they said they would. Could be seen as a minor issue but when the company works hard to nail down commitments they need to follow through with theirs. First off, the two men who came to our door were nice people. Typical door to door salesmen just looking for clients. That's the end of the pleasantries, though. I told them several times we weren't interested​ in anything they were offering. They kept talking though, and pushed me into giving them my information. After I finally got them to leave, I just tossed their little pamphlets and ignored their phone call (because again, we weren't interested).​They came back to our home TWICE after hours to bang on our door, calling my name to get me to answer. BAD PRACTICES - LEAKING ROOF. I paid over $40k for a roof. Foreman was a huge asshole and told me my warranty would be voided if they put an exhaust fan back that had been well-documented. Initially, the two sales reps who came to my house were pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. That is were the positive experience ended. I had 5 windows replaced in May, 2025. By October, 2025, 3 of the 5 windows fogged up so bad and had condensation in them so bad, you couldn't even see through them. I filed a claim as it was apparent to me and others that the seals had failed. Their process is entirely through email and my claim was quickly denied even though I requested that they send someone out since their reasoning was that the condition of the windows was a natural, environmental occurrence. Dead silence. I contacted the sales rep to see if he could assist to which he was helpful at first but then clammed up as though he had been threatened or something. Its impossible to navigate through the many layers of this company should you need assistance. When first looking up the company and what the company stands for, its good. The problem is the door to door sales tactics and disinformation is very concerning. I have 3 things that I made clear that I wanted. First, the materials had to be locally sourced, which they are. Second, the company has to be local, which they are. Third, the work has to be done in house, which is not. After being told the they do not hire "day labor", and work is done "in house". This is were the misrepresentation of what they offer. After calling and complain and asking to cancel my contract and ask for my refund of the deposit that was needed for their "limited time day special". I was told that the penalty is 33%, which is about 10k, I then stated that nothing has been done nor has been started. They then claimed that they already ordered the supplies, But the sales man that came to my house and gave me a step by step process explaining supplies will be ordered when they do a final measure of the house to make sure they get enough of the supplies. Over and over the lies start to build. Is this company a good company and provide good services IDK, but I can tell you they do lie. So now I am at a position of cancel at eat 10K or go with a company that has lied to be on multiple occasions. read more

A canvasser came to my home and so I agreed to get a bid the following day. They sent two salesman's wanted 60-90 minutes to listen to their pitch. They started off calling me "hun" and asked to speak to my realtor, proceeded to talk to him as though he were the decision-maker, and boasted of all their sales in the area, and suggested that my realtor was mistaken in his knowledge about roofing. My realtor happens to be a high producer and has been for decades. He told them repeatedly that I am competent to make my own decisions and was incredibly professional. Their bid was $26,000 plus whereas a previous bid was $11,000. They managed to guilt trip me for not listening to their 60-90 minute talk and had to settle for my realtor's contact info instead of mine. read more

This is an EDITED review. I have removed the issues that have been resolved, but added the third photo. Roof was replaced and finished 3/18/23, the photo of the staples in my hand was taken 3/21/23. Let's start with the positives: the roof looks great. No problems there after my husband had them fix one area, and it's great to have peace of mind on this investment into our property and adding value. Now onto what was SO BAD I have kept it in this review. The day of the materials drop-off, we found a balled up ball of plastic with a giant nail sticking through it, and it was laying in our side yard. Clearly, the crew got lazy and instead of tossing the plastic that wrapped the materials, they stuck it with a nail and let it fall off our roof. My WALKING 13 month old almost discovered this. I shudder to think if she had tripped and fell into it. My dog could have easily ran over it. Alarm bells rang for both my husband and I but we decided to proceed with this company anyways. This roof replacement was a two-day project. Day one, the crew just up and LEFT when they were finished and did not pick up a SINGLE staple or nail. What the actual hell. I am pregnant, have a 13 month old, and a dog. And you all just LEFT the staples and nails. My husband had to use his own magnet to clear a path for me to walk up the steps with our baby in my arms. The second day, after finishing the work, the crew did a half-ass magnet sweep and USED A LEAF BLOWER TO GET MATERIALS OFF OUR LAWN. (How is that safe for any of the surrounding houses?) My husband had to get them to go over once more and they found many more nails and staples!! They would have just... left. After this was brought to the company's attention, they sent the crew out once more. Staples were found. Tony called us and came to our home personally to apologize for this experience and he did a physical walk through on his own, and reported to me he did not find any more staples. It took my husband 30 seconds upon arriving home after Tony left, to discover multiple staples from underneath the dumpster after it was removed from the property!!! So.... Tony didn't see those? Where did he walk? I called, again, and was told a different company removes the dumpster. Ok, so who is in charge of making sure my walking toddler doesn't find those staples? Overall so angry. As homeowners and parents, we can't help but wonder what condition they would have left the property in had we not forced them to magnet sweep again, and again, and again... How often do they ball up excess plastic with a nail through it to be left? How often is the crew completely careless? Changed it from a 1 star to a 2 star because yep, the roof looks great. So excited to get new siding. From far away it looks great. Demo job left nails all around the house. Left chip bags and wood, pieces of siding, gloves, broke a window screen and said they would pay for it and never did. Many openings uncaulked. Outdoor spickets barely stick our from the new siding. Paint from the siding is chipped and scratched in areas. One whole wall didn't have flashing on the bottom. Never did a final walk through. No one from HPH inspected the project. From beginning to end, the whole process of getting a new roof for our house with HPH has been excellent. They are all professional and friendly (including the first contact, estimators, admin on the phone, and most importantly the foreman Mario' and his team doing the roofing work), giving good suggestions that work with our budget and making sure that everything is in place to ensure there are no issues. For example, I didn't know I had to contact my HOA for the roofing project, but HPH was on top of it, reminding me to get the HOA approval before they begin the work. You can tell they are good at what they do, plus that they are going to do the work right. Also, they did an excellent cleanup job, which was an issue with a prior contractor leaving a mess of nails and other sharp object lying around in the yard (I have a dog and a kid that could have been hurt)... but Mario's team did great and went through again with their fancy magnetic tools to catch the rest. I made an appointment for them to give me a quote after High-Performance Homes knocked on my door two years ago. Upon doing their inspection and writing up a quote, they refused to show it to me until my wife was also available. She works evenings, so it's almost impossible for both of us to meet with them. We tell them thanks, but we can't do business due to their rules. We got some other quotes for our roof and had it replaced 16 months ago. Since then, I've been called at least 3 times, each time I've told the person calling that due to their rules we went with another company and to please stop calling. They refused to give us a quote and our roof has been replaced already. Tonight, I asked the caller to put me on their do not call list, he said he could take me off his "personal list". I told him that if I get another call from this company, I will call a lawyer as I've asked to be not be called multiple times now. HPH, to my knowledge isn't actually a roofing company; they do the quotes and contracts but then send out subcontractors to do the work. One thing they either don't do or just do really poorly is vet their subs. In many places the work was visibly shoddy (uneven sight lines, poorly attached materials, siding repair out of knotty-pine, used flashings that looked like they fell off the back of a truck and then had the truck back over them,) and in one valley they even lapped the flashing the wrong way, which is about as basic a no-no as it gets. Corrections and reworks were done on the problems that were apparent, but quality was definitely not first or foremost in anyone's mind. They also did an impressive job killing off plants they said they'd protect, and after their cleanup I found several dozen roofing nails scattered around, including in the street. Save yourself grief, stress, and probably money too by hiring a company that actually does the work and hopefully does it well. read more

From the day that we sat down and got the quote to completion of the job, everyone was very professional. We needed to postpone the job for several weeks to get our dog in her favorite kennel. Our Project Manager communicated well with the crew. I thought there might be some damage to the plywood and trim and asked the crew lead to save out the damage so I could take a look when I got off work. Sometimes I forget that we all have phones with cameras, he sent pictures of the damage and I approved. When I got home, he had saved out the boards for me to look over. They completed the job in two days and on the third day the trash container was gone. I did a pre-walk through before the sign off and everything was cleaned up as if they were not even there. As they were about to finish after I signed off, I was upstairs and noticed a piece of tape on one of the high tree branches. The next moment I saw the Lead on the job get a long piece of metal out of the trash and removed the piece of tape. The before pictures are not great because it seemed to always be cloudy. I'd like to give zero stars. HPH installed our roof 8 years ago and due to leaks we called them to do repairs. They had a repair person show up unannounced to inspect the damage. He said he would be back on Saturday or Monday. HPH made zero effort to contact us to notify us of the time/date. On Monday night we call and let HPH know we are now expecting our repair done; they counter with, "oh, the subcontractor took some time off". Their office manager Daylin texted and said "I will keep you updated!" This morning we are woken by our dogs freaking out due to HPH's subcontractor laddering our roof - with NO communication or advance notice. Was that keeping us updated? I told subcontractor it was absolutely unacceptable to show up and go on someone's property with no permission and he said HPH set it up. Called HPH and they seemed indifferent to their rudeness. These folks don't know how to conduct business. They are HORRIBLE communicators. If you're going to drop a bunch of money, BUYER BEWARE. read more

A strange man opened the porch gate, ignoring 2 very loud protective dogs, and wanted my attention about things he saw on my house that needed to be replaced and or repaired.
