If you are looking to move to this lovely city, do yourself a favor and completely avoid living here, it will ruin your entire time at the city.
Living at astella I have encountered many headaches.
Astella is horrible. Their new management is horrible, their number 1 motive is finding a way to rip off customers. It is atrocious!
I used to love Astella and would reccomend it to all my friends. That was when the old manager, Brian would run the show. He was super kind and always made sure all the residents felt at home. The new management is so unprofessional! I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Here are the issues I have faced after the new management
- my housemates and I booked the party hall for an occasion. We cleaned up the entire place (as we were told to) but we were still charged a hefty $150 cleaning fee. I brought this up with the management -- 2 people, person A and person B. Person A said "Oh when I went the next morning the place was clean, idk why you were charged. Please talk to Person B; he must have charged you because I did not. I also do not have access to remove any fees do you will have to take it up with him." When I brought this up with person B, they said "I did not add any cleaning fee, must have been person A. Take it up with her." So unprofessional. Reminded me of 2 years old pointing to one another to avoid blame
- The AC in the party hall was not working. I complained about this and they were gaslighting us saying the AC was working, we either did not know how to use it or we are lying. So my housemates and I literally took video evidence of it not working. It was not working!
- We have a car in the garage we pay parking for. The parking pass was not working so we could not take the car out, creating inconvenience. We brought this up with person A and they said they would take care of it. A week later we tried taking the car out again and the gate still was not opening. When we brought this up again, they said they cant issue a refund because "we still were parked in the garage". What BS! We paid for not just garage parking space but also 24/7 access to the garage, which was violated.
Eventually after weeks of arguing, the issues got partially resolved. But towards the end of our lease, Ryan charged us for an extra parking spot again. At first we noticed this extra charge was suspicious. Unfortunately the online portal does not show everything in great detail the cost breakdown so we asked Ryan for a complete breakdown of the charges. That man started showing us so much attitude and at first refused to give us the cost break down. After arguing, he finally agreed to print us the break down and there you have it, viola, there was an extra parking space charge just as I suspected! I then told Ryan "you see, this is why we ask for a completely breakdown of charges, to discover invalid charges like this" and he quipped back "okay bye" in the most condescending tone. I then asked him to remove the charge and he refused stating that we did indeed have parking and he said we needed proof that we didn't have the parking spot. First off, when a company makes a mistake it is their responsibility to do the proper due diligence before charging tenants. But I obliged anyway and sent him all the emails as proof that we canceled the parking spot a long time ago (these emails were to management, with all the right time stamps, and the management agreeing to terminate the parking spot). He then said the emails were fake and he was not going to remove the charge. I then had to be a complete Karen and reach out to his boss (after heavy research online) in order to sort this out. His boss, Eesha, was very sweet and solved our problems and refunded us the money! But we did no get a single apology for Ryan's childish behavior and for the invalid charges he added and refused to remove.
This apartment is plagued with problems and if you ever try to bring it up to management, Ryan makes it very evident you are an inconvenience and will try his best to be as least helpful as possible.
Be very careful, the company will try to eat up all your money! This place commits robbery in broad daylight.
Finally after we moved out was the cherry on top. We left the apartment super clean! Yet We got so many BS charges such as cleaning fee and paint. This is clearly illegal since in California landlords are not allowed to charge for regular wear and tear, they are only allowed to charge for major damages. But, the company clearly charges us for regular cleaning and wall painting.
Overall, I miss Brian and the old management. The new management are is not very bright and have no idea how to management the apartment.
I know Cushman Wakefield will reply to this comment and try to put a different spin on things, but just trust me and read the other reviews. After the new management, this place has rotted. Avoid this place at all costs, you'll do yourself a huge favor! YOU ARE WELCOME!! read more
