I can't believe I still keep hitting burger places I haven't tried, though, to be honest, this is just more a location I hadn't been to. I have been to the Astro Burgers before and was pretty happy with it. This time, I decided to go with the Astro Burger, but as soon as I paid for it, was kicking myself, thinking how upset MC Free would be that I didn't go with a Bacon Cheeseburger and, naturally, I really wanted a Bacon Cheeseburger and kind of had my heart set on it. So, the burger, while excellent in all respects, didn't quite hit the note it probably would have had I just ordered correctly in the first place. Live and learn. This place also has fried mushrooms, which I get once a year, just to remind myself they're never as good as I think they will be. Coke Zero is on tap and they have an extensive menu, with things like a Pastrami Burrito, which I haven't had in a really, really long time and may go back and get some day. The place looks and feels old inside, with tables and a layout that is almost more Americana diner than burger joint, parking sucks, but I still greatly enjoyed this visit. I don't think this will be a regular stop as I'm infrequently in this area, but it's nice to know that the mini-chain is still firing on all cylinders. read more

I grew up in the SLC area and I miss the local Greek inspired food eateries. Where else can you get a variety of Greek and American burger classics done well. When ever I go to SLC, I need to get my Astro Burger, fries and fry sauce dose. I get my Astro Burger with Swiss cheese. My mom is in love with the broiled chicken sandwich w/o sauce, my niece is a fan of the salmon sandwich, my sister's favorite is the classic Astro Cheeseburger and my brother in law always orders the gyro plate with their famous lemon rice. This a place when we can take the whole family and there is something on the menu for everyone's taste. Local tip: mix ketchup (2/3) into fry sauce cup (1/3) to boost up the fry sauce ketchup favor. We just treid to have a great hamburger here but it has really changed! The buns were at least a week old, dry and flat. My husband took the hamburgers back and they brought us new onew...with the same old buns! We then asked for a refund, the manager was not very nice and would not give us one. It used to be real busy at lunchtime but not today...food and service is very poor! read more

I enjoyed the food that I ordered. I got the bacon cheeseburger, which was very good. I love the lettuce that they put in there. The burger wasn't cooked all the way, but it still tasted great! I'm very disappointed with the service lately, this used to be one of mine and my boyfriend's favorite places to eat and they've been horrible at every turn recently. The last 2 times they've messed up my order with the same thing, I was supposed to get the bacon cheese burger, and I ended up with the double cheeseburger. My boyfriend's gyro plate was completely burnt and was given fries and not rice the time before last, and tonight his chicken was undercooked! I could've let everything else go, but getting raw chicken was complete negligence, and unforgivable. read more

Go to Apollo Burger or Crown Burger instead. You will be treated better. They have some of the worst customer service. I went there 4 days ago and paid 1.50 per chicken finger. Today I went and they tried to charge me $1 more for the same order. The girl at the window went on to argue with me about what I got the last time I ordered. She kept saying she didn't tell me they were $1.50, and they are $1.75. I then asked if they raised the prices within 4 days and she said she didn't know. She stated she was getting her manager, but I would have to pull up and wait, which I was on my lunch break and had to get back to work. I ended up driving away because I didn't have time to wait for the manager. I live very close and probably will never go back as long as she is working there. She was absolutely rude and inconsiderate and basically told me I was a liar. read more

I just devoured a bacon cheeseburger! Had to turn around and order another one with bacon and onions rings. I don't know what it is but the burgers here are so spot on! Almost like that scene in Pulp Fiction when SLY goes nuts on that Kahuna burger! Except Astro has got Kahumas number! This burger should be on some food vs man shit! So Damn good!!!! I ordered...done in minutes. Changed fries for onion rings which were outstanding!!!! Had to turn back to give the man at the window a $5 spot. He denied it!!! Said this is what we do here. Just went through the drive-through, ordered a sandwich for seven dollars. It came out exactly opposite of how I ordered it. Went back in to let them know. The guy wants to tell me how he did not hear me say that in the drive-through, Says he can make another one. But since it already took 10 minutes to get one sandwich I declined and ask for a refund. Had to go get a manager to issue a refund my card, I never once apologized for the mistake. Not their best moment. Guess it's true what they say about fast food drive trough. read more

Terrible. Just terrible. I just ordered a sandwich and drink from them and when I got back to work to eat it, the bread on the sandwich was BLACK not just burned but charred black on both inside and out, both pieces of bread, and the bacon in the sandwich was wet and old and undercooked. I have never had such bad food from them before, but obviously I won't be going back again -- it was disgusting, I had to throw the whole thing out. read more

I love eating at Astro Burger. I love their bacon cheeseburger with fries and most importantly fry sauce. I would eat here everyday if it meant that I wouldn't ever gain an ounce! The food is fabulous and well worth the price, this is where you get a real burger with all the delicious fillings. They do an excellent job and are always busy. read more

There's so much to try here and so far my favorites have been the veggie burger for something lighter, the cheese steak sandwich for when I'm working on the house, and the bacon cheese burger for something dripping and glorious. The fries are awesome, but make sure you eat them hot with the fry sauce! The pastrami isn't as good as crown burger's personally, but that's due to the spices they use, but I still give them 5 stars. read more

I have been here many many many times over the years & have always been happy, the food is excellent for the money. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. This is not McDonald's or other fake food fast food, this is real food, more of a gourmet fast food, yes it's not Ruth's Chris downtown (which seems to be the standard some of my fellow reviewers seem to be comparing them to), but IMO it is a significantly excellent value, the staff are always helpful & patient, the fries are great, & contrary to what 1 reviewer said they do not get pre packaged fry sauce, I have a personal experience for knowing this: I came here once years ago where the fry sauce at the pump inside the restaurant tasted very salty, I let the manager know (politely) & he immediately went and changed it out, & told me sorry sir we must have accidentally put salt instead of sugar when we where making this container of fry sauce earlier, he then was kind enough to offer to discount or coupon, but I told him I insist on paying, mistakes happen & no biggie, excellent customer service. As a couple reviewers said any burger is definitely a strength of theirs, but over the years I've had almost everything on the menu from Astro burger, to double bacon cheese burger, gyro, fried ham & cheese sandwich, Philly steak sandwich (man I should stop listing things cause I'm seriously considering getting more food even though I just ate), pastrami burrito, shakes you name & I have never been disappointed. These guys are a terrific value, yes you may pay 1-2.5 dollars more for the average person to eat here as opposed to Mickey dees, but what's $1-2 to get real food! read more

It's good I love THIS Astro, I haven't been to any other locations, but I frequent this one and have had no issues. ... Also they just added a TON of Shake flavors my fav is caramel. I love Salt Lake burger joints owned by Greeks. My teen years were spent consuming pastrami burgers from the downtown Crown Burger. These days I spend most of my Burger dollar at the Midvale Astro Burger, and my burger of choice is the Bacon Chee. I'm like a broken record when I go there. Bacon Cheese Combo with onion rings instead of fries. You get to choose your own fountain drink, and the have diet Dr Pepper and Coke Zero. Yay! I have gone there enough with my wife, who loves to order different things that I have sampled a large portion of their food, including the very competent Gyros, the feta loaded Greek salad with grilled chicken, the Turkey burger special, and the Souvlaki chicken kabobs. My father in law says that their chili verde is very good, although I haven't tried it yet. I have to give them a slight edge over Crown Burger and Apollo Burger for their broader menu, and their consistent quality. If I have one qualm it's that they don't use real banana in their banana shakes. But I only infrequently get a shake. I really enjoy this restaurant, and have made it a consistent stop on my circuit. read more
