Located right on Fremont St, Backstage Bar & Billiards is a venue I went to a couple of times when I lived in Las Vegas. I've seen bands like Letter Kills and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster as well as the likes of Cryptopsy and Abysmal Dawn. The last show I went to at the venue was said Maylene and the Sons of Disaster show in what I believe was May of 2024 (I'm catching up on venue reviews). The venue itself is a decent enough size and mostly consists of standing room only, though a few chairs for what I assume is ADA are usually lined up against the wall. The sound here was always solid enough and I don't have any complaints over that and the merch area was tucked away enough in the back that it didn't get in the way of the show itself. Overall, Backstage Bar & Billiards is a solid little venue that consistently has pretty decent shows. The staff here always did what they needed to do, and my only real complaint is that I wasn't able to score Green Day tickets here when they did that special show, but either way, it's a solid enough venue.

The last time our anniversary fell on a Saturday, it was in 2020 and we literally couldn't do anything due to COVID restrictions, so this one was extra special for us. We marked seven years of dating on 7/18/26! I had a pretty good childhood, back when there was no such thing as smartphones, VR, and AI, and Play Playground allowed us to play like a kid again. This is a family friendly place during the day, but they implement it to 21+ only after 7:00pm and 13+ only after 6:00pm when accompanied by an adult. Make sure to sign the waiver online and forward it to everyone in your party before arriving here to save time. You'll get plenty of playtime here; the entire thing lasts about 90 minutes, which includes Duck Duck Boom across from the main entrance. Once you enter, you check in and they will give you a lanyard that you can hook your play card on, which is extremely convenient. You will also be assigned a random name (I was "Neutral Guava and my LTP was "Pleased Hare") so that they appear on the scoreboard for each game. All games are worth 15 credits and many of them mirrored games we played when we were kids, such as Frolic (Simon Says), Perfect Popper (Perfection), and Rolla Derby (Skee Ball). Tic-tac-toe, Connect Four, and Jenga can be found at numerous tables as well. The Bullseye Bounce was one of my favorite games to play here, where I got to jump on a trampoline in a Velcroed suit and throw myself as high as possible onto a Velcroed target in three tries. There's also a bounce house maze in the very back, which was also fun to experience since I've been inside several bounce houses at birthday parties and other events when I was younger. Their cocktails are absolutely amazing, too. I got myself a Pop Rock Punch cocktail and my LTP got himself a Duck Duck Boom cocktail. The Pop Rock Punch came with a pack of Blue Raspberry pop rocks that I could add in myself (I did not choose this flavor specifically; it was selected at random). We got both of these in a 12oz cup. Being a Las Vegas resident of 25 years, I think this was the most fun I've ever had on The Strip thus far. Play Playground is a great place for any occasion.

Supposedly you could get validated parking if you spent $25+ at any eatery on property, including the pool. My husband got a $38 drink at the pool bar and was told to keep his receipt for parking validation. What a hassle! The pool can't validate, you're told to go to the customer rewards desk with your receipts. The customer rewards desk had a sign saying to go to the cashier because the desk was unmanned. Cashier said he didn't validate because validation is for gambling points only and to go back to the rewards desk. I had to wait in line while my husband went to the bar to ask a bartender to radio for someone to come to the rewards desk as a line was forming behind me. The bartender tried to validate when nobody showed up but he was locked out of the cage. Finally a woman in a suit showed up and validated our parking, but it was a huge hassle for a Friday night in Vegas. The pool itself looks small but holds a fair number of people and there are plenty of seats. The water in the pool is WARM with the jets spitting out hot water. There is a gazebo up top where my husband and I put our clothes because there are no lockers to rent. Apparently that's the smoking area but people there were complaining that there were no ashtrays.
