I have AT&T fiber in the middle of Sacramento and is constantly going out for short periods. It was out for more than a day on two separate occasions. Phone support insisted that it was just me, but when I got to the hour mark of the call, they suddenly realized it was a network outage. I have been an AT&T customer for years, and this is typical of their customer support. An AT&T tech even joked with me that they are a communications company, but they have horrible internal communications within the company. Profits over performance. Their apps don't work consistently. I stopped being able to login to the "Smart" Home app, which they require for appointment updates, not to mention troubleshooting your own internet. I call in every couple of months to try to resolve it, but their limited scripted troubleshooting, basically consisting or changing the password never works. read more

Worst business ever. I was being charged for two internets. In the same living room. I had the old modem and the upgraded HUB both connected. I was reassured by their agent that I would only pay for one. Today I was billed 72 dollars actually my new modem was 47.50. According to my previous two bills I was refunded the 60 dollars times two att overcharged. So I'm not being charged the 47.50. But instead 72 dollars today ! Saying they took bk the 12 promotion cuz I don't qualify. 47plus 12 is not 72. They are charging me the wrong price as I took back the 60 dollar modem !! This is the worse service ever. Don't ever use auto pay. They have been over charging me and taking money out of my accout a couple times a month. 3 this month making a total over $800 just this month. Last month they took out $790. I only have 2 lines. Frankly the service has been mostly reliable. Con's- They never sent me the $200 gift card. Kept telling me to wait until it was TOO late and the promotion was over! Almost signed up for the Mobile but got caught in an automated service loop. Cussed the system out and apparently the AI did t like that and hung up. AT&T technicians are incapable of installing AT&T fiber service. The first tech said he could not get up the pole that xfinity technicians have no problem ascending. So, I cleared the vegetation and rescheduled the installation for the next morning. The second AT&T technician came to install my fiber internet today, but told me that it is "impossible" to install my modem where my xfinity modem sits. He had no answer when I asked how xfinity accomplished the "impossible". Then he left. I called Customer Service to complain and have now scheduled another tech for tomorrow morning. When I first signed up for AT&T, I thought this was going to be a great deal. High-quality Internet for a reasonable price. However, I ran into numerous issues. When I moved, I had problems closing my old account, and they were still withdrawing money from my bank. When I called AT&T, they could not find my old account. I was forced to put a stop payment on my checking account. Last night, I noticed that my Internet kept going on and off. I tried doing remote troubleshooting through the app, and they were unable to find a problem. They had to get a service technician out the next day. My scheduled appointment was originally between 8 AM and 12 PM. When I texted "status" to get status updates, the time was narrowed down to 11 AM to 11:30 AM. However, 11:30 AM rolled around and the technician never arrived. I texted "status" again, only to be told that they would be here between 8 AM and 12 PM. Fast-forward to 12 PM, still no technician. I texted again, and they said that the technician is running behind with no ETA. You guys had four fucking hours to get out here, and you failed that commitment. My issue resolved all on its own anyways, but I sure do not like people wasting my time! After this little fiasco, I am considering switching my ISP. read more

I'm not sure why so many people seem to have problems with AT&T? I have their gigabit internet service for years, probably 4-5 and my service has gone down once for less than a day during a major storm. I have had equipment failures twice, which were resolved quickly. The last time about 6-8 months ago. They first said it might be a week or so until they could fix it and that they would call me. I told them my only phone was internet and then they expedited the service and came the next day and not only replaced the box on the wall that wasn't working, they upgraded my router that was working. Aaron Ortega tried to set me up on a pre-paid data plan and put a new SIM card (916-601-4757) in my personally owned Nighthawk. However, he could not get the device activated for some reason. He tried till after the store closed and was unsuccessful. I needed to get back home, so I told him I would just call customer care to get it fixed. 9/6/21 @ 2:47 PM (AKDT) Upon arrival in Alaska, I tried to get the new SIM card activated at 1-800-288-2020) and was redirected to get the SIM card activated at 1-800-901-9878. I was on hold for about 30 minutes and redirected to 1-877-714-1509. Was told that the pre-paid account was not activated correctly and that the store applied the pre-payment to a "credit" account and I needed to call the store to get it corrected. I decided that I just wanted to cancel the entire thing, but was told that I need to call the store if I would like to get a refund. 9/6/21 @ 4:22 PM (AKDT) Called store to get a refund. Aaron told me that he does not have the ability to give me a refund on a pre-paid account and I would need to call the pre-paid line. After trying for 2 hours to set up the modem for AT&T internet services using their House Manager app; I called the AT&T company. I waited on the phone 30 minutes before I could speak to an agent. Even though the agent was very nice and patient, she had me on the phone for over an hour asking me to do the same thing without result. I asked several times if I could speak to a different person and she ignored that request. It was very apparent she didn't know what she was doing. It wasn't until I started crying out of frustration, that she finally asked for a supervisor's help. Waiting for a supervisor took another 30 minutes. I ask this woman if I could be transferred to sales, I had yet to stop a service. Again this agent didn't respond. I felt stuck in AT&T hell. The supervisor tried to get the modem to work for another 30 minutes, and the modem still didn't work. Finally a person was scheduled to come out to my home at no cost. Then I waited on the phone for another 30 minutes to stop a different service. Whoever runs AT&T's customer service center is does a terrible job. Where are the negative stars??? It is ridiculous the problems with AT&T. They dug up OUR yard because the NEIGHBORS were having problems. It then took them a MONTH and FOUR technicians to discover that there was ANOTHER junction box that was also a problem. The wiring was so old, they could not upgrade - not to 4G, 5G or fiber. (Mind you, I had bern paying for 4G for several years and getting only 2G according to the technician) After they put everything back together, suddenly MY internet became unstable, slow and unreliable. The AT&T REGIONAL DIRECTOR told us they could do nothing and actually recommended we go with a 5G provider. We decided to go with T-Mobile. Was promised free installation, a $100 "Reward Card", and a home internet router with a battery backup. 1) Charged $99.95 installation. 2) No Reward Card issued. 3) Had to call Customer Service twice for a battery backup router. Called CS when my bill arrived and was $174. The rep stated "do not pay your bill. I understand you were promised 'this and that', so let me call and see what happened and why your bill is so high, then I'll call you back in a few days". I have to say I was very satisfied with how quick the tech guy, Joseph, solved the issue. He was straight to the point and assuring that I won't have any problems with the new modem. I like his service and how he came about to make things easier in regards to scheduling next appointment if another issue occurs. Internet is back up and running. Not sure how long this will last, but so far so good. overall I didn't like how Internet was lagging before, didn't like the 4pm-8pm appointment window and how they kept rescheduling me, I didn't like how I paid for internet and was not able to use it, but what I do like is the nice employees they have (both the tech guys and tech support agents on the phone). I would give them zero stars if I could. I switched from Comcast and the service was awful. Anytime I had to work from home, I was unable to access the Internet which makes it impossible for me to work from home. I called for technical assistance and they were no help every single time. When I went to cancel the service and switch back to Comcast they said they would wave part of my bill since I didn't have service when I needed. They didn't end up doing that. Wow, this service is terrible. Don't believe anything they say about being comparable to Comcast. I am not a fan of the company Comcast as a whole, but the product they provide is far superior. AT&T U-Verse uses the internet for your TV, phone and internet. So if someone in the house is watching tv and someone is on the phone forget using the WiFi. I've never experienced such slow and terrible WiFi, and yes I had the highest speed they offered. The service is simply terrible. Now as far as TV goes that was terrible as well. The selection of On Demand shows is a joke. With Comcast if you miss a show you can almost always find it on On Demand the next day. Not with AT&T, the amount of shows they have are VERY limited. The guide is also dated, slow and not intuitive. Lastly, when you call for issues or to cancel its not an easy process to get through. Unless you have no other choice, I would avoid U-Verse at all costs. read more

AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, etc.) have instituted the 5 GB "Hard Limit" on their Wireless Card plans since July 1, 2010. What once was a seemingly endless resource is now costing a LOT MORE. When the 5 GB limit was "soft", I was going easily up to 20 GB on my $51/mo Wireless Card plan. With same usage (now at a nickel per 1 MB over the 5 GB "hard limit"), I would paying $760 per month. THE LOWDOWN So I am using a lot more coffee hot spots, but will also be transition to hard-line Broadband at $20 a month. read more

Again, a professional and pleasant experience. Other communication with representatives, as well as trying to locate information online has been frustratingly time-consuming and unproductive. Worse, the issue(s) remained -- among them, intermittent internet and phone service (so much for the much-advertised 99.9% reliability). We have been AT&T customers for over 40 years yet we still get treated very poorly for their terrible service. We recently had WiFi issues so I called and spoke to a technician who ran some tests and informed me that the problem lies with my computer. I told her that the machine was working fine and she refused to accept that. She put her supervisor on the line and he said the same thing. I ran the troubleshooter on the machine and it indicated that there was a problem with the modem. I called AT&T again and the new technician, after running a check, indicated that my modem needed to be replaced. They sent me a new modem, which I hooked up only to find that the problem persisted. I called them again and asked that they send a technician to my house. There was never any indication that a fee would be charged for the visit. The tech arrived and he was non-communicative, even though we made an effort to chat with him. He upgraded our wiring outside the house and he brought us a modem that he said was better than the one they sent us. After he left, we found that our Orby WiFi extender was no longer working, nor was our printer connected to WiFi. We fixed both of these issues. We soon found a charge of over $100 on our next bill and we were informed that this was for the service call. We called to refute the bill since there was never any indication that we would be charged. We elevated the issue to a supervisor to no avail and then asked to speak with a manager and we were told that he would call back within 30 minutes. Of course, that call never arrived so we called back and went through the whole process and again asked to speak to a manager. We were again promised that one would call back that day. Again, no return call! We called again and elevated it to a guy named David (due to their history, we refused to hang up until we got him) who said that, even though they have no indication that the fee was discussed, it was a valid fee. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he said that he is at the top of that food chain and there is no other recourse for us. This is how they treat their longtime customers. I spoke with someone on their Loyalty Team and, after quite a bit more time, they credited our bill with $70, still quite a bit less than we were charged, even after spending more than nine hours on the phone dealing with these incompetent uncaring folks. read more

The experience with AT&T is really horrible. I scheduled a installation at 1-3pm yesterday. I waited until 5 pm and nobody came. During this time, I contacted ATT live agent 3 times, the first 2 times they told me the technician will arrive in 30 minutes. The 3rd time, finally someone called me, say "there is some line error, we can not do it yesterday" and reschedule the installation to 8:30-9:30 this morning. And I take half day off to wait for the technician. NOBODY comes for another time. And I contacted live agent and got the change say, the scheduled time is 1 - 3 pm. If they can check my previous chat history or especially the phone call from the lady supervisor, it will prove my statement. BUT they say they can not do it. read more

All is well for a year then all of sudden internet is down for days. Call center support in India can barely communicate in English. Major issues in one day: 1. Single sign on broke. Can only login to the main overview page but nothing else is loading. Or I get get access ID not allowed. 2. Internet is down. Agent can't tell if there is an outage. 3. Cannot find anywhere in AT&T website and app if there's any outage in my area. 4. I already told the agent that I already power cycled the modem gateway but insisted on doing it 2x more. But same results! 5. Agent said can schedule a tech repair tomorrow but after putting me on hold, it is now 3 days before a technician can come out. 6. Whichever software AT&T uses to integrate their various platforms is failing miserably. BAD, BAD, BAD customer experience. 7. If you work from home, you're SOL! AT&T tells me that I will pay $90 if this is a problem I own. I said fine! But if it turns out their problem, they will have to credit me $$ for the down time. I can't believe a big company like AT&T having issues like this. It was great for a year and now service quality just took a dive. I will update this review in three days but I am not too happy with the delays. I pay my bill in advance so I expect AT&T to treat me better. As a follow up to this post, I am changing my rating from 1 start to 4 stars. Only because the technician showed up in time and fixed the problem immediately. I wish I could give less than 1 star... Run dont walk away from this business. They have a blatant disregard for their customers time or money. My husband called back in March to add a sports channel and there was no issue. Sports channel was immediately available and for 3 months our bill reflected the addtl charge. We go to pay our bill in June and are told we have a past due balance and our bill had also increased. We call customer service they state that the package had been changed (but cant confirm when), but oh to make it all better they would remove the past due balance, give us free hbo for 6 months, 5 bucks off our sports channel for 6 months, and 40 bucks off our service for six months. Sounds great, definitely too good to be true. I wait a couple days for the account to update before i go to pay my bill and guess what, we still have a past due balance and our bill doubled (literally doubled). I call customer service, after 26 minutes speaking to Girlie (thats her name) idGP1159, Im informed a supervisor will call me between 12:30-1:30pm. At 2pm (no call recieved) call back in rehash the whole story and am informed a supervisor will speak to me now. I am then placed on hold 1 hour and 8 minutes. I call back and am routed to a specialiat who after 55 minutes of requiring me to defend myself says I will get a call sometime in the next 7 business days in reference to if any credit is due. (Of course i will probably be at work knowing my luck in a meeting). A manager (Fam id 114150) finally got on the phone, refused to offer any apology or regret for the utter distespect or concern for my time or the fact that my flawless credit will now reflect a past due balance, simply offered no remediation or remorse for the way my time was used, but simply reiterated (angrily) they will call me in 7 business days with the outcome. She did happily (and sarcastically) tell me before we disconnected, to have a great weekend. Side note- they never addressed the fact that the internet has been down for 2 weeks and not meeting the up-time guaranteed in their SLA. Im not a glutten for punishment, so i dont think ill be calling back in to be abused by their customer service anytime soon. Wish there was another carrier in our area. Smh. read more
