My latest add was a NAS to house a lot of educational and Great Courses videos and CDs, we collected during the Pandemic. They definitely walked me through all the equipment and software choices and helped me with scripts to load my collection.

They came by and looked and told us it was a bigger problem they could not fix and would send us a quote. The quote included several pieces of equipment that were priced 2-5x retail. FSTG-DREAM-PRO 10G Cloud Gateway with 100+ UniFi device / 1,000+ client support and 3.5 Gbps IPS routing. was quoted as $999.99 when it retails for $379 FSTG 10Gbps SFP+ Direct Attach Cable (1meter) was quoted at $29.99 when it retails for $15 OvrC Pro Lifetime License + Hub, non-locking barrel connector power connection type was quoted as $999.99 when it retails for to $199 *note this is only available to authorized AV dealers but a 5x mark up is insane I asked why and was told it was small business markup and was told quote "It includes sourcing, shipping, platform fees, payment processing fees and more that our clients may not originally consider. The raised price also covers our regular remote network maintenance, ensuring your network continuously runs at peak performance following the conclusion of the project. A large portion of business model is our post-install support and efforts to create peace of mind for our clientele regarding our systems." However on that quote was also a $70/mo service plan that was supposed to cover the aforementioned post-install support. I asked about the double charge for support and asked if I could bring my own equipment and they ignored my email So this company is SUPER SHADY and please review your quotes and google any equipment that they tell you that you need because 1. you probably don't need it (we ended up fixing the internet ourselves) and 2. they are probably overcharging you. Just run the quote through Claude or ChatGPT and ask if there's anything concerning in it. It will do all the research for you.

Phone support insisted that it was just me, but when I got to the hour mark of the call, they suddenly realized it was a network outage. I have been an AT&T customer for years, and this is typical of their customer support. An AT&T tech even joked with me that they are a communications company, but they have horrible internal communications within the company. Profits over performance. Their apps don't work consistently. I stopped being able to login to the "Smart" Home app, which they require for appointment updates, not to mention troubleshooting your own internet. I call in every couple of months to try to resolve it, but their limited scripted troubleshooting, basically consisting or changing the password never works.

I was reassured by their agent that I would only pay for one. Today I was billed 72 dollars actually my new modem was 47.50. Saying they took bk the 12 promotion cuz I don't qualify. 47plus 12 is not 72. They are charging me the wrong price as I took back the 60 dollar modem !! I will go with another company just like I did with their phone service !!!! They are a nightmare !!! Trying to drain their customers out of every penny they can !! BEWARE!!!

We also have use their managed router service, and they handle our BGP config as well. Recently, we also migrated telephone DIDs from AT&T copper PRI circuits to Utility Telecom SIP trunks. There was some troubleshooting required to get the trunks working, as our phone system (Shoretel) did not list Utility as a certified partner. But Utility was happy to work with our Shoretel maintenance provider to get the issues worked out, and it has been working flawlessly since. Internet service has been dependable. We've not had any outages since moving to fiber. We had some outages when we were on T1s, but that was AT&T's issue, not Utility. Prices are good. Thier prices are competitive for ISP services, and their SIP prices were better than any other quotes we got. Billing is simple and easy to understand. The people are nice. There are people to talk to, and not just in a call center. You can actually talk to the same person if you call more than once. They kept telling me I have to have their phone service if I want voice over IP. I explained to them I don't need VOIP from them, all I need is their signal from their router. I pay for 300mbs so I don't think a phone signal is going to strain my service. Ask to be forwarded to someone who understands IP/VOIP. The next person tells me the same fiction. Now I'm thinking maybe they have configured their router so I can't get a separate signal from their router and am therefore forced to pay them $25 a month for their VOIP rather than pay VONAGE $10 per month for theirs. Talked to Customer Service and they told me the same thing.

So I was super excited to switch to Fidium for the 2gb fiber connection, but that excitement quickly turned to frustration and dismay over their horrific customer service. The initial setup went smoothly, the tech was polite and professional but he was the last employee that was polite, professional, and competent. After completion he advised to setup my fidium acct and use those credentials to setup my wifi in their app (change SSID and set password, etc.). I was able to setup the account or so I thought but nothing actually worked. I would set the password and would immediately be told it was invalid when trying to log in. I made numerous calls over the next 3 days in regards to this issue and no one could tell me anything or figure out the issue. There was a lot of back and forth and arguing with reps as they insisted they needed my account pin to help, however this was never setup as I could not actually get into my acct. Finally when I called to attempt to cancel, that rep had a smidgen of intelligence and competence and finally realized they had recorded my email incorrectly. How? I still do not understand as everything was setup online and I was in fact getting emails but they still somehow got it wrong in their system. I was finally able to get in and get everything setup. The smidgen of intelligence that rep had was then immediately undone when the rep told my that my account qualified me for discounts on streaming services and this could be done through my account on fidium.net. That was a lie! They only provide a slight discount on Direct TV Now streaming and nothing else. No biggie a lot of stuff I already have discounted or paid by my cell service with Verizon... I thought I was happy. First month bill went through with no issues and internet service was significantly better than what was in place previously. Well the honeymoon did not last I was double charged for my 2nd month on service.... After fighting tooth and nail with their pain in the ass IVR system to get a representative, I hit the moron lottery again with the rep I received. She was dumber than dirt. She asked if she could call me by my full first name and I said just call me Nick multiple times, but she kept using Nicholas instead, not the end of the world but annoying af she cannot listen nor comprehend simple English. I brought up the double billing issue and explained i wanted a refund of the credit and was then placed on hold for quite sometime, like an excessive amount of time for verifying a duplicate charge. When she finally took me off hold she advised that she saw the duplicate charge and simply wouldn't have to make a payment next month. I raised the issue of wanting a refund to which resulted me being placed on hold again for a much shorter duration, only for her to come back and advise she wouldn't process the refund as it would take 6-8 weeks and just be simpler to keep the credit on my account and not be charged next month. Completely unacceptable response as I don't trust them to not charge my account again next month despite the credit seeing as they just double charged me. I called her some choice names and said I would be looking into Xfinity... I ended up having to contact my bank to dispute the charge and have looked into switching service over to Xfinity to which I will be doing as they can match the speed and essentially price but with a 5yr lock and a wifi cellular backup service in case of an outage on the regular Xfinity network. Fidium has no cellular backup option. So I highly recommend no one wastes their time with these incompetent losers as they are incompetent into resolving account issues and have also been dishonest about the service perks. I am also looking into filing a complaint with the FCC in regards to all the bs they have put me through. Fuck you Fidium, fuck you very much...
