No way to get through to a human or get answers, just an automated phone tree that acknowledges the outage, but cannot provide any info on restoration of services. We had internet, cable, and home phone service installed yesterday. The installation technician did such a HORRIBLE job I am seriously considering trying to find alternative service elsewhere. He left no documentation for any of the services purchased. He installed equipment on to a NON-OPERATIVE TV. That shows he did not even test hook-ups agter installing. He did not leave documentation on WIFI setup nor did he even fully explain the services he was installing. I am so mad and frustrated with the lack of quality of service. Absolutely horrible. Buyer beware, if you get XFinity, be sure to do your homework on what you want setup and watch your installer like a hawk... If not, be prepared to have a major headache. I had the misfortune of getting cable internet service from Comcast/Xfinity for over 2 years at my home in the Natomas area of Sacramento. They had horrible technical support and billing systems. The issues and the saga I went through are: 1. Repeated reduction in speeds 15-30Mb/s downstream (from their promise of 500Mb/s), 1-2Mb/s upstream (from their promise of 10Mb/s) and increased latency of 30ms or higher (from their promise of 10ms or less) at peak work hours and evenings causing video calls to drop, video games to stall and streaming content to freeze. 2. The technician who came to my home to fix the service could only fix the section of the line between the street to my modem, but not fix the equipment at their end. Also the technician showed up at non-peak hours and showed me that the line and quality of service is at the level I paid for, but the service quality dropped back to unacceptable levels at peak hours. 3. After this visit, I made multiple calls to their phone technical support, which just keeps making me reboot my modem and router, but do NOT fix the bandwidth or capacity at their end. Comcast continues to use outdated equipment. I also investigated more and found that at the DOCSIS standards work by sharing the available downstream bandwidth. Comcast tends to sign up more and more users in the neighborhood without upgrading the equipment at their end. 4. Their billing department keeps making us sign up for one-sided contracts and offer NO guarantees for service. This is unethical. 5. Around a year ago, their billing system used my credit card number for another customer's account, but could NOT remove my credit card from the other customer's account or refund me for several months of incorrect charges. The recourse to this issue resulted in my canceling my credit card so that the incorrect charge would not recur. 6. Also they billed me for technician visits when I canceled my service, although the problem not NOT get resolved. This is also unethical. Despite my several calls to their technical customer service, they could resolve issues. After having lived through the incompetence and unethical business practices of Comcast/Xfinity, I would highly recommend that you look for alternate internet service providers. My recommendation is to avoid Comcast/Xfinity like plague, and go with alternate providers if its possible in your neighborhood. I took the step to switch over to Fidium fiber (from Consolidated Communications Inc.) which for now has reliable service and get 1Gb/s (1000Mb/s) for both upstream and downstream data, with 5ms latency or less. I could not be happier with my internet service after the switch!! read more

If you like getting overcharged constantly and spending hours each monthly dealing with inept customer services, Comcast is for you! Pro tip: record any phone calls, save all transcripts and have proof of any interaction. Customer service will lie to you, and when you're overcharged again they will pretend like they told you the opposite. I had Comcast for years and was overcharged about every other month. I had to move recently, and Comcast didn't offer services at the new address. An agent told me over the phone that I would not be charged cancellation fees and my service charges would end when I moved out. 2 weeks later, I see they have charged me $133 for the month after my services ended and cancellation fees. I made a mistake on my bill pay and paid Comcast $840 that I actually meant to pay to my credit card company. I spent two hours today trying to resolve it talk to someone in China went into the office and was told we don't refund money for any reason. We keep it and use it as you use your services, we deduct it. I do not owe any money I pay everything on automatic debit this money for $840 should be returned to me ASAP. It's very upsetting. This company is absolute junk. They have a billing team none of who understand 'basic math'. This is how stupid they are. Then, no matter that you will pay through the nose for indispensable high-speed internet, they will regularly drop your service (outage issues they say), during critical days and times when you are right in the middle of very important meetings. Comcast is a terrible company. We recently attempted to switch carriers and they locked my SIM card/phone for 24-48hrs, currently we are at 36 hrs and I have called multiple times. One supervisor stated it is there policy to lock the phone, when I asked for a copy of the policy they stated they are not allowed to give out their policies. This phone was purchased in for over a year ago. Our internet has gone down three times in the last 24 hours. Each time we powered down the modem, went on to the Xfinity website to check for outages and do a self-service check by having the website reboot the modem. The 1st time it worked, the 2nd and 3rd time it did not so I had to call in for both of those. Let me just say, their customer service call in number is the most atrocious customer service system I have ever seen. you cannot get in touch with a human being to save your life. They send you through a warrant of self-service checks such as rebooting the modem and sending text messages of suggested ways to fix your modem and then hang up on you. In addition to that, their website and their phone number do not line up, nor does the phone number remember the self-service system checks they force you to do. It took me more than 30 minutes to get in touch with a live person, who only read from a script and would not deviate from said script and when they finally decided to send someone out here to look at the modem, it's going to be more than 24 hours. With the current pandemic, we are all working from home and we are essentially not getting paid because our work requires internet connection while sitting here waiting for Comcast to show up. Unfortunately, the other choices out there are equally as bad and there's no way around a conglomerate like Comcast. Absolutely disappointed, fed up, and not much we can do about it. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Comcast is out to take everyone's money with ridiculous scams. Below is just one of MANY issues I've had with Comcast. Their fees are always increasing. They could have a "just cause I want to" fee and get away with it. There are so many tv outages so I can't watch anything and they don't compensate by lowering the bill or providing some sort of discount. I get a text message from Comcast saying "thank you for your order of Despicable Me 3 in HD". I DID NOT ORDER ANY MOVIES AND NEVER WOULD. I was watching Netflix when I got the text message about the "purchase". I immediately call Comcast so that they can remove the charges. The representative asks if I have kids that bought the movie. I do not have any children. Then she asks if I accidentally pressed something on my remote to buy the movie. The answer is no I didn't "accidentally" press something on my remote as I was watching Netflix and I'm sure most of you know how Netflix works. I called in May to have service transferred and was told they transferred service but my internet was not working so i called xfinity and they sent a technician to my house who then informed me i would need a internet line installed bc i didnt have one at my current residence, no problem they tell me 7 to 14 day to install. We are now a couple days from September and still no line installed. I have called to ask questions and i am just met with another rude service technician who comes to my house doesnt knock and then just leaves and they close the ticket out. In the past 2 days I have spent a total of 11 hours trying to resolve an issue with my xfinity service, 9 hours yesterday, 2 hours today. Summarized, I have paid for in-home tech support for 29 years, yet was not able to get an in-home tech scheduled. I am 63, just post hip replacement surgery, and was sent on a 3 hour round trip to pick up new equipment to install myself. (I am not capable of this, as I explained, which is why I pay for in-home tech service). However, I did make the trip, then tried to install the equipment, only to find out the Xfinity store did not provide the new cables that are neccessary to go along with the units they provided. I was then again on the phone another approx 90 minutes last night where a phone tech based overseas continually insisted I reset the modem before he could even think about scheduling an in-home tech. I explained a dozen times the TV was not capable of "re-setting" because it was not connected, because they did not provide the proper cables to do this. I was finally told they could not help me, nor send an in-home tech, and that someone from xfinity would contact ME at 8am Monday. That never happened - no call, no msg, nothing. So I then tried SEVEN times to get through to a real person this (Monday) morning. After an extremely long hold, waiting, told to reset the system then recheck the TV, I was told they'd try to get a tech to come help us late in the week. Again, I have paid for in-home tech support for decades. There is no way we should have to wait this long, or that we should have been sent on a 3-hour round trip and told to do it ourselves. OR, that I should have wasted my entire Sunday simply trying to obtain the service I have paid for nearly 30 years. read more

I switched to Comcast because I was sick and tired of dealing with AT&T--endlessly long phone calls constant price hikes etc. Comcast was ok at first, but then they started hiking the price until it was almost as high as the major carriers. I switched to T-Mobile for my internet at a price guaranteed to stay the same forever. So at this point I would probably have given Comcast 3 or maybe 4 stars for being adequate until I tried to end my service with them. They refused to come remove their large and unsightly equipment from my dining room. They even refused to let me talk to one of the crew so they could tell me how to do it myself. Endless phone calls zero results. I finally got a person to send a crew member out. Guess she was lying to get me off the phone. As best I could tell I needed a special tool to remove a large bolt that went into the wall. Today I got down on the ground with my cell phone flashlight and realized that a regular socket might work. I was able to loosen the bolt but not remove it. I jiggled the box to see if it was loose enough and the whole thing ripped out taking the drywall with it. I do NOT recommend this company. They always had mediocre service but this takes the cake. It would have taken an installer 2 minutes to remove it or even less time to tell me how it was mounted (drywall anchor behind 3 pound battery). Thank for nothing Comcast! read more

Been a Comcast Xfinity customer for over 35 years. They have labeled us as a diamond customer. For 33 of the 35 years, we've been happy with the service. But the last two years has been outage after outage. Outages lasting the majority of the day. The last two weeks, we've been down for a total of 40 hours or more. Internet, TV and telephone. I'm glad that we did not purchase their home security service as that would have also been down. They always tell us to reboot our modem, but the problem is their system. We pay over $300 per month for this awful service. I really don't want to change, but may. Congress should make companies like Comcast pay for downtime. Airlines, utilities and others are penalized for service issues. Why doesn't the California PUC look into these communications companies? Do they own too much stock in the businesses? How not to help your customer! Am I the only person out here that's noticed that the Comcast's business model has changed? There once was a time, not that long ago when you could call Comcast and actually speak to a human Being. And if there was a problem with your service a human being would be happy to address your concern and in many cases fit the problem. Well as far as I can tell those were the good old day. What you get now is some automated pretend (How can I help you pre-recording.) Now I have no doubt that this automation alternative has adding to the company's bottom line. However for those of us who have to deal with this disembodied AI alternative which provides neither assistants or competent find calling into Comcast one of the most frustrating tooth pulling experiences no one should have to navigate or have to pay for. So, how then do I change this Global monstrosity? For over charges? For services they don't consistently provide? For making it harder to complain or make changes to one's service? Why aren't there more choices in this arena for consumers to choose from? Why is it that when I call to speak to customer service I'm told to use their chat service because that would be faster then waiting to speak with one of their human being? Wanna bet? I figured out that over the last few years my cable bill has gone from annual cost of $1200 per year to over $2300. And yet the service is shottier then ever, inconsistent in terms of download speeds. I'm having more and more problems with getting on the Internet and staying on the Internet on a month-to-month basis. And yet my bill keeps getting bigger not better. And there doesn't seem to be any other place to go that I've found that's any better. And that's the real shame of this situation. Why is competition being stifled? The bottom line is Comcast / Xfinity whatever name you use is no longer about providing real service to it's customers despite their ads to the contrary. Yes Comcast does suck ! If you want a company with good customer service online or using a phone look elsewhere. There is no number to contact a real person and all online connections are computer generated responses. I've never seen a company with worse customer service. There is also no numbers to call a store you have to walk in to talk to anybody. I will say the store employees and service tech they set up to come to my house were very good, however when asked about their phone or online customer service they could not give a response as to why it was so bad but did admit there is no number to call to talk to a live operator. However, comcast in Sacramento has forced me to leave this review. I've travelled to small African towns which have had better internet than this. I am not joking even slightly when I say this is worse than the internet you'd find in a 3rd world country. - The internet goes out every day, multiple times a day - Sometimes it goes out for days on end - Comcast always gives me the same excuse "oh we have a line issue, we're fixing it I hope you don't rely on your internet for anything, because if you do, you are almost certain to be let down. I am averaging anywhere from 0.09 to 4mbps. Yes, you read that correctly, 0.09mbps, it feels like I've gone back in time to the early 90's.
