In the past five years, I have been moving between Five different cities, internationally. Just before I moved to Detroit, I spent about a year and a half in Australia - so when I was making to move to Detroit, I really was shocked to find out that my move across the atlantic to Australia was an easier move than it was to move to Detroit!. I had never expected to run into this much trouble and meet the most horrendous customer service people in my life. It's horrible thing to say - but I really was thinking that Detroit deserves to die away and never come back. Fortunately, however, my view had changed when I got to this AT&T branch in Canton. Just a day ago, I had been turned away by a sales person at another AT&T branch, saying that I cannot get a phone without SSN - I am a Canadian student without SSN. I argued saying that I have lived in Boston about 4 years ago, and had gotten a Verizon contract without any problem - and also note that it is illegal to ask for SSN unless you are a government owned business. So when I walked in to the AT^T store near IKEA, I really was not expecting to get any help - I think I went in to use the google map on one of the phones. My first impression of Jody (Sales person) wasn't the best. He was on the phone (which really wasn't his fault), and made us wait a long time. I minded that of course, but I had to use the internet, and had to use the bathroom, so I waited. Once he was off his phone call (I think he was on hold from AT&T customer service ppl- so I definitely cannot blame him), within 20 minutes I had my phone in my hand! He knew exactly what he was doing!! He was one of those sales person who knew what they were doing. Since moving to Detroit - I have met too many sales persons who are friendly but clearly did not know how to deal with an oddity such as myself who rightfully does not have SSN. I had to put a deposit down on the phone which I will get back after a year, but I was impressed Jody could make the phone happen for me, without giving me much fuss about not having SSN. p.s: I give it a 4 star instead of 5 because I had a terrible experience with AT%T in general and just spent about 3 hours on the phone to talk to a customer service person who was absolutely horrible and useless. I went in to ask a simple question about a trade-in. I had done three days prior. I was made to feel stupid. They would not sit down with me or even look at my account. I was turned away told to call customer service and treated extremely rudely. Prior to this my customer service had been good, but after this interaction, I will never step foot back in the store. read more

Employees misrepresent device features, leaving out details when making a selection. Also my 50$ screen protector was put on with bubbles and not even close to being aligned. I went into this location to get my charging card replaced . The representative told me he wouldn't be able to help me return my charging cord since the silver end that plugs into my phone was broken off after trying to remove it from charging . He said it is physical damage and he wouldn't be able to replace it . When I purchased the first cord the rep said if anything happens come in and replace it for free . He got with his manager and then told me he wouldn't be able to replace it . Service was horrible with no explanation when I asked him his name he said have a good day. I work in retail and this doesn't exhibit customer service at all. I've been a customer for over 10 years and along with all my family members. Horrible attitudes will not get you far in this environment, especially when the Customer is always right. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Using the AT&T website, I ordered two phones for pick up at the Canton, MI store. The order indicated the phones would be ready in 2 hours. About an hour and a half later, I checked my email to see if they were ready and learned the order was canceled. No call, text or explanation in the email. I called the store and was advised there was an issue with the system letting them fulfill the order. I asked if they had the phones in stock and the salesperson said she would check. The salesperson returned to the call 23 minutes later and, without allowing me time to reply to her apology for the delay, she disconnected the call. I called back and spoke to someone else who advised me, without even having to check inventory, that they were out of stock. With AT&T stores on basically every corner, this store will never get my business. read more

AVOID THIS STORE!!! Worst customer experience. Went in to add a third line to our plan. Registered with the lady at the entrance when I walked in. Thirty minutes later get called. Sales person introduced herself and said, "Oh, I don't have a table" and left to go to the back room. 5 minutes later returned. Pulled up my account and said I couldn't add a line since it was in my wife's name. Then compared AT&T to a bank. Started lecturing me. In the past they have called my wife, verified her SSN etc. and was able to do it. Not this time and I got a lecture too. 42 minutes of my life wasted and rude. They could have caught it at the entrance when getting why I was there, be prepared, and be nice and professional during the discussion. After 22 years as a loyal customer, one horrible experience and I am switching to Verizon. If you like AT&T, go to a different store because they may actually get you to leave the store to go a mile away and switch providers. My previous 2 visits included waiting 2.5 hours for a new iPhone (after an hour in line) and over 30 minutes to get served to buy a case. I completely accept an hour in line for a new iPhone model, but really waiting 2.5 hours after they had the phone in my hand but had to wait for them to program a SIM. Took 2 minutes once the right guy come over to help the AT&T employee serving me. Takes less time to switch carriers than get service from this store. read more

AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the AT & T Store to return two phones per corp. I was advised that the manager (Alishia) had to do this to waive the fee. I was waiting for someone to even ask me why I was there. I advised them I'm just there to give them these two phones per corp to send back. They said I needed to Wait for the manager. so I sat and waited for 10 to 15 min. Then two salesmen started to take my information and ask me all these questions. They were trying to rework my account I already had salesmen. I just needed to return these phones. I explained this two them again. Then the manager came out and I advised I just needed to give them these phones to return to corp. She said she would not waive the restocking fee, I told her if she looked into the account she would see it was pre-approved and she refused. She then said she would call the police unless I left. I left and made a complaint to corp. Im seriously thinking of not making the change to AT & T due to the terrible actions of this store. I felt Verbally attacked. read more

I was really disappointed. I wish I had gone to a different store. My first visit went well. Deena was very helpful re-doing my plan, getting and adding new phones. But it's been impossible to talk to her since. My wife went in to add her phone and Deena left the store and someone else had to help. Then I went in to get my new phone added and Deena didn't show for that either. Then I called one day to get some questions answered and couldn't get a call back. I called 4 times. She was always busy or "in conference" and promised to call back but never did. Everyone at this store always acts like they're doing 5 things at once and don't really have time for you. Devontae is a liar. I went to the at&t store on Ford rd and was quoted rates and costs to switch our 8 lines over. I asked if we would get the same prices at other stores, because my dad was the one gettin the account with his retiree discount. I was told I would get at least...AT LEAST a $100 line credit (promised by the manager Devontae, even my 10 yr old daughter was witness to it) if I could talk my dad into coming to Canton, knowing that it was an employee account. I was able to convinced my dad (who is sick) to come down and I'd take him to lunch, and we'd get a bill credit, itd be worth it. Fast forward two months, six messages left for Devontae, 2 attempts to talk to him in store, and a flat out refusal to the employee he told to promise me the credit (and an offer by him to give me $100 out of his own pocket because his manager is a liar) I walk in today, and Devontae tried to escape to the back room when he saw me. He refused to give me the credit he promised, and lied straight to my face. This man is a joke, and the fact that he would lie to get 8 lines, and have an ill person drive over an hour so that his store made money is ONE MILLION PERCENT UNACCEPTABLE! read more

Went in (with my two kids) to ask about SIM cards for the watches my mom bought for my kids for Christmas. I didn't bring the watches in because I wasn't planning on stopping in, but figured why not go ask. I pulled them up on google to show the person (her name is Kerri) I was talking to. I told her that the watch box didn't say what type of SIM they needed and her response was "what the flying f*ck". I am not sure what vibe I gave off that made her think it was ok to say that to me, with my kids standing right there. It was incredibly unprofessional and uncalled for. I work in customer service and talking like that, on the sales floor, would NOT have been acceptable, at all. I will not go back to this location. read more

I couldn't set up a business account online due to verification requirements (EIN, articles of incorporation, etc). I went to this store to do so. First problem, a task/permission completed online couldn't be found on their store system. This IS a communications store, right? The in-person store and online department can't communicate info?! At the store we had to call the same 800 number any other schmo has to call. Waited FOREVER on hold, then a few minutes in got disconnected. Called again and waited over 20 minutes to speak with an agent. David at the store who was all chatty at first has not said a word to me. He does not look happy. At least we're sitting at high top tables while we're waiting growing old. David confirms my business paperwork and then tells me there's a $1,000 deposit for this new business account. Um, no. I ask if I can personally guarantee and he says "most people just put it in their own name anyway instead of the business". Well I'm not most people and that has to be one of the most un-customer friendly comments ever. Way to be accommodating! The agent on phone gets personal info and I have her call me on a cell number so I can get out of the store already. She finishes with me and was pretty nice. David, not so much. AT&T stores, get a freakjng fast pass phone number or a line dedicated to stores only. It's RIDICULOUS to make a client wait that long. You're a communications store, communicate with the online part of your billion dollar a year company. OMG! read more

Customer service is HORRIBLE......they put us on hold for half an hour and were very rude. They had a class action lawsuit filed against them where they were charging people for higher speed internet and gave them the lower one. If you would like silver tongue sales man, or woman to give you service here. Go on ahead. They gave the worst service that I have ever received by any company. We were in the store for 5 hours getting "help" from their sales representative that was new there. My wife and I asked multiple times for a manager (named Ashley) to help the new sales rep. But ignored us and sat behind the counter rolling her eyes at us. After finally getting out of there, and buying 5 iPhones. We have a on going problem with AT&T! If it were possible I would have left a rating of no star and warned everyone to stay clear of this business. Only regret was switching from Verizon to these silver tongue sales people! read more

I actually would like to give this place -5 stars, had service for four days. Could not get reception in my home called repeatedly everyday concerning this problem. I was eventually told that I would not receive good service, because remotely they could see I did'nt have any bars. Ok find they informed me to take the phones to a corporate ATT office. I read the reviews but thought I had a simple transaction. Boy was I wrong, First they charged me a restocking fee.$35.00 each for two phones $70.00 total.. When I called the customer service number to complain about this, I was told I could have returned them through the mail therefore avoiding this restocking fee.Then I was informed that I had a $1,500 bill I said for what they said the Canton Ford Road office charged me this for four days of non service Holy moly I've spent the last six days arguing with idiots. Whatever you do do not go to this sorry, sorry a__ store. They don't know what customer service stands for. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE store. I can't understand why it's still open. read more

Everyone needs to watch their bill for changes in the monthly service. A year ago I signed up for the All Distance package for $35 on line. After 1 year my bill was raised to $61. I called and spent 2 days with numerous idiots from India and the Phillipines before being transferred to the US. Transferred a number of times again until I finally got a lady that helped to correct it and change me back to the same thing i had (online was still offering the same price) When I got the bill they had enough nerve to charge me $5 for my change in service they said I requested. It took me another 3 days to have that corrected. Last month the did it again. Changed my monthly service while the online is STILL offering the same price. Finally got it corrected and guess what...they charged me the same $5 to change my service again. I just got the new bill and it's $10 more than it should be. Obviously i'm not happy and looking for another phone carrier. AT&T will screw you over any chance they get and if you don't watch you bill every month, you too will pay more. read more
