I rarely had any issues; the cable didn't go out during storms for instance. It was really the best service and the best cable company I've ever done business with. Apart from the…read morefailures of service and having to listen to a lengthy sales pitch before talking to support, their business practices are deceptive and predatory. After a year they raised my rate from about $75/ month to $118. I called and said I would drop them if the didn't go back the original rate. The Rep promised they would lower it back the original rate for a whole year. I checked the account 2 months in a row and they stayed at the original rate. I didn't check again as I assumed they would keep their word, my mistake. I checked back three months later and found they had raised the rate $10/ month 2 months in a row, then $15, the third month. I called to complain and they said there was nothing they could do about it so I cancelled the account and they wanted to charge me for the month ahead as it was the first day of the billing period. I declined to pay and they put the charge into collection. Needless to say a minus 5 stars would be the best I could give these criminals, but since I have to leave a star they get only one. Do not use these morons, their business practices are abhorrent and customer service is the worst, and I'm being generous.

In those 6-1/2 years I can count service interruptions on less than one hand. Heck, they stayed on line during the 2021 "Snowmageddon." Yes, you have to buy your equipment to receive their microwave connection. They install it and Lonny (sp.) knows his stuff. Some folks will scoff at a wireless connection. When we moved into Woodcreek North, there were only one of two wireless ISPs around. Anvil was highly recommended by our neighbors. Since the installation in 2015, the cable guys moved into the neighborhood. Let's just say that my first paragraph describes why I stayed with Anvil even when cheaper alternatives with greater bandwidth arrived. It's called quality. Quality of the people there and quality of the installation and equipment they use.

They came out and evaluated the site and did the installation well. They use high-quality Ubiquity point to point wifi equipment to remotely distribute service. Your mileage will vary however based on a lot of factors. As someone in IT, point to point wifi can get sketch if the conditions/site isn't correct. The only downside is the price. They are pretty expensive for the bandwidth you get... but with low round-trip times, they are still head-over-heels better than satellite internet. I've only had a few minor outages since getting the service setup.

In August 2025, I called Earthlink to inquire about switching to their home Internet service. I was promised that my monthly bill would be about $56 per month, (which would save $30 per month from the current home Internet provider.) We agreed upon the installation date to be in mid September. On the installation date, a technician showed up wearing the uniform of AT &T with one of their trucks. (The installer was very professional the entire time that he was at my house. ) It worked great for about two weeks and then it went out. I wasn't very concerned about that because I was going out of town in a few days. When I returned, I called AT &T because they did the installation and was still providing my home Internet services.( EARTHLINK NEVER PROVIDED ANY INTERNET SERVICES TO MY HOME AT ANY TIME!!!!!) In October , I went out of town again. When returned from this trip, I found a bill in my mailbox from Earthlink requesting that I pay 4x the amount that I was promised for the monthly bill. After making MULTIPLE phone calls (about 10 calls to their customer service number) to Earthlink to find out why, I was informed that they cancelled my services in the early part of October when I was out of town. I reiterate that at NO TIME WAS ANY SERVICE PROVIDED BY EARTHLINK!!!!! Each employee that I spoke to said the same thing,that I would be responsible to pay the bill that 4x more than the promised amount and that were no managers or supervisors available to look into the situation. I called back SEVERAL times in the first week of November 2025 and FINALLY got a chance to talk to someone. I offered to pay the amount that was agreed upon for the monthly bill, even though they DID NOT PROVIDE services at my house at any time. They wouldn't accept that.So I the bill that was 4x higher than promised just to get them out of my life forever. They did me VERY WRONG!!!!! Again, if I could rate them less than one star, I would!!

    Earthlink charged an installation fee even though I signed a 1 year contract but the rep said I…read morewould receive $100 gift card after 3 months of payments. It's been over 6 months and it never came. I have called the gift card contractor who had no record of a request from Earthlink. She said she would send an email to Earthlink but wouldn't expect a reply, so I called Earthlink. The rep said she would "elevated" the request and I should eventually receive an email to request the gift card. A decent business would have just sent it after 3 months like they promised without requiring calling in and waiting on hold and then having to wait on an email (which I am doubtful I will actually receive) with a special request to fill out. Then I asked the rep why my bill charges me for fiber internet and rent of a fiber modem (which was required - Earthlink wouldn't let me just buy modem) when my service is DSL, not fiber. The rep insisted that I have fiber internet when I have DSL. She's elevating that one too.
