My new Pixel phone died within 4 months of purchase. On top of it I have insurance. They put my data into AT&T's system which said on the screen that I was eligible for a replacement of my new defective device! The manager decided he didn't like me and told me to go through Google which HAS no working customer service number, or any other support for their devices. I had a very troubling experience with my iPhone trade-in at this location. Initially, the staff attempted to take my phone without providing any receipt or confirmation. After insisting, I finally received a document with my phone's info. A week later, AT&T customer service could not find my trade-in. I followed up multiple times, both by phone and in person, but got no help. When I returned to the store and indicated I was calling AT&T, the manager admitted he still had my phone--it had never been shipped. Only then did he return it to me. I had an iPhone 6 that I bought in 2015 and it lasted me 6 years! There was nothing wrong with my phone except that it had no storage space left! It was 16GB haha and let's just say that after 6 years I kept on having to delete photos, videos, songs, messages and apps just to make room for new things. I told myself that I wouldn't upgrade to a new phone unless I absolutely had to in the event that my phone stopped working or it broke, but after some time I just felt that I was way overdue for an upgrade since my iPhone 6 looked like it was gonna last me many many more years haha I was mad at the Apple Store (Fashion Valley location) so I didn't want to support their store by giving them a sale, so I thought I'd try the AT&T and I'm glad that I went here instead. I called in advance to see if they had the iPhone 12 Pro Max in stock and luckily they did. I quickly drove over and was helped out by Mike. He was a chill dude and told me about a trade-in deal to knock $700 off the cost of my new phone. I usually don't like to pay in installments but $700 bucks is too great of a deal to pass up! The only annoying thing was there was an old creeper dude lurking inside the store who was bothering me so I wanted to get out of there fast. Also, since it's a smaller store you might have to wait long before getting serviced. Other than that, I'm glad I chose this place over the Apple Store. read more

I'm an existing i-phone customer who had a couple of function questions before upgrading to a newer phone. "BOB" told me this is a "SALES STORE, NOT A CUSTOMER SERVICE STORE." Got a new phone and didn't know how to set it up. Walked in, waited for just a couple of minutes, and got exactly the help I needed! The employee who helped me was named Esteban and he was friendly and super efficient. He helped me with what I needed. I have visited this location 3x now, and seen their bullshit "Out to Lunch" or "Back in 30 min" sign twice. There's no time on this sign ... so they're definitely gone, or in the back doing who knows what, for probably hours. Meanwhile, I'm trying to drop off my trade-in phones so I don't get charged. If I could give zero stars, I would. I called this store this morning to confirm availability of a product and the store hours. I came over to the store at 12:45 to find a note on the door saying "out to lunch." I thought it was weird as they had just opened at 10 but decided to wait hoping they'd be back in half an hour. I moved my car to a parking spot right in front so I could head in when they re-opened. It is now after 2:00 and still no one is back. In the meantime four other customers have arrived and left. This is horrible and unacceptable customer service. Had a tentative time been left on the note (of when they may be back), that would have been slightly more acceptable. Some of the worst customer experience I have ever encountered. When I walked in the employee was sitting at one of the tables... I didn't even realize he was an employee and he said to me "do you need something?" while still looking at his personal phone. After explaining all kinds of issues I had been having with my phone and how I had been advised from tech support to go into a store, he looked at my phone for about 10 seconds and did not give me a helpful answer, nor ever even stood up. He told me I should try resetting the whole thing but probably shouldn't do it in the store because they were closing soon. I looked at my phone and saw it was 4:51 PM. I said "oh do you close at 5?" And he said "no, 6." All in all he was extremely rude and not helpful at all, and I left with nothing fixed. read more

Neighbors please be where the AT&T on Balboa is not a corporate store.I walked in with a perfectly fine Samsung note 8 upgraded to the iPhone 12.During the process of transferring from one phone to another.They completely wiped out the Samsung to where it is now worth nothing.I received no help from Michael and was told oh well phones break sometime. I just had a hell of a day trying to purchase the I14 pro. The store told me they had it in purple exactly what I wanted. When I got to the store the employee told me he's unable to do any returns, He told me he'd hold the phone for me but I had to go to the corporate store in Mission Valley to do the return. I went to that store, manager told me i could in fact return the phone at ANY At& T store. I then called the balboa store to let him know he said he didn't know how to do returns. Manager told me to have him call him if he needed help. Balboa employee told me he was busy and couldn't talk on the phone now. I returned to the store for him to process my return and buy the phone he promised to hold for me. I waited 40 minutes while he helped another person. When it came to my turn, he had me sit in the store for 20 minutes while he was in back. He then came out and said he did not have the phone he promised he did have. I am beyond pissed off. He not only wasted my day with running around for absolutely no reason at all. But wasted gas and had me sit around knowing he did not have what he told me he had. I am so frustrated. I want to return my IPhone 14. And get a IPhone Pro in purple. I bought my phone last Friday. Today is Monday. Is there any easier way to do this then deal with stores. The waiting times are to long and they wont tell you if they have what your looking for until your turn. Please help. read more

Purchased 13 days ago a phone screen protector from this store by pure-gear and today the screen popped up, I went back to store with receipt in hand and spoke with Francisco C. Well, he informed me he couldn't do anything about it and I asked why not if it was under warranty, he informed me that i didnt have the manufacture's package on which he through it in the garbage at the store when he installed the screen protector on my phone, he told me to take it up with pure-gear and just turned his back to me and walked away. This is not so much a review of this store, but a review of AT&T as a whole. I was a loyal AT&T customer for 10 years, never missed a bill, never played the pity card with them, just an honest customer. Then one day I go into an AT&T store (not this one) and update my cell phone from a flip phone to a smart phone back in 2013. The sales people were helpful and made it sound like I was good to go. Then a week later and I am getting hit by a very expensive bill, something in the ball park of $220 bill for one month. Something about breaching my contract. I called AT&T, explained my situation and the lady on the phone said "too bad, we are going to stick it to you" in so many words. Needless to say, I quit AT&T and moved on to T-Mobile (a superior company with better prices). This is a warning to all AT&T customers, I would suggest leaving AT&T for good and move onto a better cell phone company. read more

This place sucks. It's like the B team of an already much despised retailer formed here to make sure nothing gets done. I came here due to proximity to my house to ask about upgrading my phone, and they didn't actually help me except say...they won't help me? I asked why they can't help me out and they just said they don't have the phone, they won't order it for me, and they don't know anything about the trade in program. The only good thing was they referred me to someplace that actually could help me. I know part of the problem is that AT&T keeps their employees in the dark about a lot of things, such as shipment details and whatnot, which is super useless and not the employee's fault. I think it's just a terrible partnership of a company that needs to share more with their employees, and employees who need to at least pretend they don't hate being there. read more

I went to them for an iphone 4g which died within 9 days and they refused to give me a new iphone but agreed to substitue for another phone (I would have had no service and they didn't offer me the option to cancel my contract) so I took an HTC ONE which died another 29 days later. When I went back to them I wanted another Iphone. I hated using the HTC when every other piece of equipment in my house was for the iphone. So I said since I needed a replacement I wanted to go back to the iphone and they refused to help me in any what. So I left my phone in the store requesting they process a return and went to verizon and got my iphone and am really happy. I went home and filed a complaint with my credit card. 4 weeks go by and my credit card company kicks back the charge and says they need a receipt from the store that it was returned. The store won't process the phone and won't give me any paper work on the phone and told me that I should come in and pick up my broken phone and that's my only option. So I am out $309, have no phone, and no recourse according to ATT. Oh, and also got charged the early termination fee from ATT wireless for canceling my service contract so all together I'm out about $700 and have nothing to show. ATT has the authorized retailers like this one out there doing business in their name but won't help with resolving issues at the store level because they are not the same business. Don't use an "authorized retailer". Go to Clairemont Mesa Blvd store instead.They are an actual ATT store so if you have problems you don't have another entity that I'm having trouble finding any information on. This store read more

I canceled my AT&T Internet service on May 16, 2018. I also canceled my cell phone service with AT&T, because I had bad experiences with their service. I had Spectrum Internet service installed on that day. A couple of weeks later, I received a statement from AT&T with a balance due of $237.88. I've missed only one monthly payment, which was $40, due to the bad service. So, I called back on June 4, 2018 to speak to a representative whose name was Arlene CKW4CN9. After she took a look at my account for a few minutes, she said my total balance was actually $73.63. However, she said she cannot make any changes, and that I have to talk to another AT&T Department. Finally, I spoke with Franco FW141E from that Department to confirm that my balance was $73.63. So, I was waiting for the AT&T billing statement, which I intended to pay in full. A couple of weeks later, I received the AT&T billing statement showing a balance of $132.54. I again called AT&T on July 17, 2018. The representative I talked to was Angel RB165J. She said that I have a contract with AT&T. I told her that I've never had a contract with AT&T during that period time. Then she got angry and said that it was an oral agreement. All of this billing hassle I have had to put up with from AT&T lately is totally unnecessary and just wrong as a matter of principle. read more
