All that was left in our single story home was large furniture as we preloaded our own UHaul with boxes and it was already at our new location. They commented on the lack of furniture and said if they didn't take long enough they'd probably have to do another job. Also, it was very apparent that Sunday NFL ticket was more important than the job at hand. I think i saw them staring at their phones more than anything. It took them over 3 hours to move beds and dressers and a refrigerator. Once we arrived at the new house and they started unloaded things and our possessions started showing up as broken and scratched. Our daughters crib that they haphazardly wrapped, scratched. Our other daughters crib mattress, ripped because WE didn't ask for the complimentary mattress bags. Our brand new foyer light....BENT and repeatedly hit as they shimmied our couch standing up. Their response when I brought this to their attention "You should expect for there to be issues, nothing ever runs smoothly. There are damages at every job." UM NO! You're PROFESSIONAL movers. Also, after bringing these issues to their attention they decided to start making snide remarks about me under their breath. Truly unacceptable. Also they make you prepay when they're still finishing the job and if they don't use all the time they refund you which was a whole other issue. Luckily we aren't moving again anytime soon, but I don't want anyone else to go through what we unfortunately had to. And yes, we have used movers before and never had these issues.

The previous inspector, while nice (and recommend by our buyer's agent), would not allow my husband and I to be with him during the inspection. The previous inspector also charged us an extra $75 to assess for termites (I later found out an exterminator can do a termite eval for free). Total for the first guy = $440. We decided to not use the first person again and to find someone else. We wanted someone experienced and was ASHI certified (meaning he had to do a minimum of 250 paid inspections). My husband and I knew that the house was a fixer upper and needed someone who was very thorough to let us know what exactly we have in store for us. Next Step Home Inspections had a good website, and John readily answered our questions through e-mail. The website also mentioned that John had previous construction experience. He also had no problem with my husband and I being present during the inspection. He was very patient, and polite, and very thorough. He found multiple areas that needed to be addressed, and he even ranked the concerns when we asked (not a good sign about your house when the inspector asks if it's a HUD, right?). And although he had to do another inspection right afterwards, he still sent us a very detailed report within a few hours. Total cost for a similarly-sized house: $320. And no, he didn't try to upsell us with anything. 5 stars, all the way!
