Our experience with Green Scene Home Inspections was extremely concerning. The company's owner came to our home after a major appliance listed in their report was called into question. During that visit, he made unprompted remarks about my personal life that had nothing to do with the inspection. When I told him that his behavior felt intimidating, he responded that he had researched me on the "deep dark web." We then asked that our interactions remain strictly professional and limited to inspection-related matters, but he declined to agree to that boundary. The encounter left us feeling unsafe and deeply uncomfortable. We have since filed a formal complaint with the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) regarding this incident. It is our personal recommendation to stay very far from this company. Homeowners deserve respect, professionalism, and basic privacy when inviting someone into their home. read more

My realtor recommended Green Scene advising a bit pricier than a normal inspection but you get what you pay for. Derek called me just before noon to advise he was wrapping up inspection. Although I planned on meeting him around 12:30, quickly headed out door as he was okay with eta of less than 20mins. Derek did a thorough job in explaining everything. What I really like about Green Scene is their videos along with the detailed photo report. They also use thermal imaging. Long ago, I had an inspector briefly point out things and provided written report afterwards. I was definitely okay shelling out more money for a piece of mind. Derek did nitpick a bit but, with this kind of investment, nitpicking is very welcomed! Review for an inspection done in the DFW area. Despite all of the positive reviews, our experience with the company was unfortunately very negative. We had a regular pre-buy inspection performed back in August of 2023, the results of which did not show anything outside of the usual minor things wrong with the house. Upon moving in a few weeks later, we immediately discovered that the Dishwasher was inoperative, which was contrary to the inspection findings. We reached out to the company, and had some back and forth regarding how we would go about resolving this issue. Ultimately, one of the owners notified us that it was not their responsibility and that "the are not an insurance company". I am now out nearly $1,000 in having to purchase a new appliance, something that I could have negotiated at the time of purchasing the house had the inspector done his job. Moral of the story: the company has $0 liability and is unwilling to stand behind their work. I am incredibly disappointed and would encourage all consumers to think twice about using this company. read more

We had our home inspected April 2018 months ago when we first bought he house. It is a new construction. We recently had it inspected before the 1 year. The inspector did not tell us that there were multiple items that were not to code. This is the number one reason to hire for an inspection and this was missed. Also, they said there may be some drainage issues on the side of the house. He said to just put some dirt against the house so it doesn't sit. The first day it rained our entire yard 2 inches. There was absolutely no drainage and the entire yard had to be reconstructed. Update: This company has been amazing at correcting its wrong. People make mistakes and they did what a company should do, investigate and correct. They did make a mistake and went above and beyond to make everything right. This is the company everyone should use for their home inspection. My realtor referred us to this company and we received the best service and thorough inspection we could ask for. Every person I interacted with the company was courteous and knowledgeable. Marcus completed our inspection and went through every detail with me after he had completed everything. We had the home inspection, wood destroying insect inspection (WDI), and the thermal infrared evaluation. I loved how the company provided a soft copy written report, a hard copy WDI report and a video with specific pictures as well as suggestions for what needs to be addressed. In the soft copy the most important issues that needed to be addressed were highlighted a different color which made it easy to find. Marcus even provided his email and phone number so if we had any additional questions we were able to reach him. We plan on having an inspection on our home to make sure we catch small issues before they become out of control in the future as well. Amazing job Green Scene! I have mixed feelings about my experience with Green Scene because my initial interactions with them were all fantastic. The inspector was right on time and worked with my schedule. The customer service over the phone was great. The actual inspection and follow-up service was also great. The inspector was honest and thorough in his presentation of the material and handed over a very detailed review of the home I was purchasing. As a first time homebuyer this was an easy process. I was able to make my reservation online. I was able to pick multiple options like sprinkler inspection and termite inspection. Soon after a representative called me to explain to me the process and pricing. They do offer a discount to military. I was sent a text message with a reminder for the time and process the day before. Because of covid I didn't have to drive to the inspection. Cody sent an awesome video of all issues and a report about an hour after the inspection was complete. Our inspector also sent a text to let us know the inspection was complete and that the email was sent. Overall great customer service and a quick and easy process. read more

Derek was awesome! He was patient with all of my questions, went out of his way to explain things to me and was very thorough! The only thing not checked was the roof. In addition to the thorough written report, they also compile all photos into a narrated video that they walk through with you, allowing you to take notes and ask additional questions. Fantastic service. Extremely thorough. We had Marcus, from Green Scene Home Inspections inspect our new construction home today, prior to our closing tomorrow. Marcus came highly recommended by a personal friend who is a realtor. Marcus was punctual, courteous, and very thorough. He even had our report completed within an hour of completing the home inspection (normally this takes 24 hours at least). The report also included a very detailed video demonstration of all of his findings. He found several issues that needed to be rectified by the builder prior to closing on the house, that we otherwise were not aware of. Marcus inspected the first home. He was extremely thorough (he had HUNDREDS of pictures to go through, when it was all said and done). And based on his inspection and discussions with him, we opted out of a house contract. The second home was inspected by Jesse. Jesse was just as thorough and awesome as Marcus. UPDATE: 3/10/16 So I really liked this company and our experience with them was really good. However we are now facing a large issue that they did not catch with some very visible plumbing issues that has cause water damage in our ceiling from the upper bathroom. Unfortunately it's not covered by the home warranty becasue it (the plumbing) was done improperly so it's on us to fix it. Trying to figure out if we have legal recourse, but in the meantime, this is the company we hired to do that part of the job for us and they let us down. I'm updating this from a 4 to a 1. The problem was the bathtub overflow drain. It was not put in properly (by the plumber) and you could literally move it and see the wall. Every bath that was taken subsequently poured water into the wall and down to the ceiling in a closet we don't use often. I'm disappointed that Green Scene missed something so simple. I read the Texas law that they do not have to inspect the overflow drain functionality however, the guy (from the home warranty) showed us that literally nothing was attached and you could move the over flow drain to the side and see the wall behind it. If these guys had even TOUCHED the silver round bathtub overflow they would have known this was the case. OLD REVIEW: In a nut shell: They were thorough, friendly and were not holding anything back. They told us what was normal but needed addressed and what was not so normal. We went into contract in a home and only had limited time to get the inspection as usual. We called, they came. They did the inspection of the home and it took about 4 hours. We met them in the end and he showed us pictures of each item that needed attention. He explained the things that were repaired and which water leaks were new and which were old. They have so much technology to help them I was impressed. He showed us where things needed repair, caulking, paint or some other form of protection. I asked him if this was his mother buying this house, what would he do. He never took his eyes off of me when he answered so I knew he was being honest. I would definitely recommend these folks. Update: We did not get our first home so we used than again. Our second experiences was not as amazing. Although we would still recommend we did not feel the same World Class service. read more

Marcus from Green Scene did a great job. He was very thorough. Provided a good report that the builder accepted and understood - there was minimal back and forth. All within a days notice. I ordered the whole gambit of products - thermal, termite, pool, sprinkler, and home inspection w/ crawl space. He started at 8:30 and finished around 2:00pm. I had a call at 1pm. He was happy to clean up and do his other tasks while I did my call from the other room. He sent the report and video within the day. There's a reason these guys have such good reviews. read more

We found Green Scene through a friend and also Yelped them (amazing reviews) and requested Clayton to do our inspection on our new home. He is amazing at his job, was very informative, and we enjoyed learning about the home we were able to purchase. The inspection started at 8:30am (he was on time and already working when I arrived). We spoke for about 15-20 mins on his process (he does many many many sweeps through the home to make sure that he doesn't miss anything). One thing that amazes me with this company is his honesty. We had ordered a termite inspection but he insisted a refund of the termite part because it was a new build and there was no way termites would be present (the builder would have already pre-treated the ground and etc for termites). We came back at 11:30am, and he put together a video for us (that we would be able to review at home online) summarizing all the things that he found and going through the pictures that he has taken. You want a home inspector who is thorough, on your side, and is disclosing everything that may be a red flag. This is your biggest investment and you definitely want someone who does not hurry through and sign the documents. You want real facts and information on what needs to be fixed! He even went through with a thermal camera just to see areas that are possibly leaking free of charge. Clayton does all of these things, he is organized, a very personable and customer-oriented person, and I could not be happier with his work and his time that he spent with my wife and I on this new home. I would give them 1 Million stars if possible! We need more people like this in the world! I think what separates them from others is their sincerity, their interest in you as the home owner, and their unbiased and thorough work. It comes with a video that summarizes everything! Inspectors are regulated on what they can/cannot say but John has a way of being honest yet realistic so as not to put us 1st time buyers in alarm nor let significant yet not severe findings be overlooked. I ordered a home inspection from Green Scene based on the excellent Yelp reviews. This inspection was done by Marcus on my first house to be. He was very thorough during his 3 hour inspection of the house, and took pictures of every item that caught his eye. After his 3 hour inspection, Marcus explained everything that he discovered in the house during his inspection through a picture presentation on his tablet. We were not impressed with the inspection performed by this company and will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Our house is a new construction and the Inspector missed alot of things that were visible. For example a long black tube protruding from the back yard, missing doorstops in every room, hardwood floor has a chipped plank and small holes in some areas, a visible huge piece of trim missing barely beneath island countertop when asked about it he said it wasn't at his eye level, exterior line were cables are fed needs to be trimmed back. I could say more however running out of space. We tried to ask questions and point out issues and he was so in a hurry to leave that he rushed out the house and left a bag and my husband had to flag him down to give it to him. No video provided. Hopefully when we do our walk through next week we can add these items to the punch list. Worst experience ever. read more

Horrific experience. Green Scene said in their report that the washer/dryer hookups were working on the home - turns out there were NO WATER LINES to the washing machine. They also failed to check all electrical outlets but said they all worked (they didn't). This is just the tip of the ice berg with the issues. The owner of the company responded "Good luck, Merry Christmas." I'm the sole parent of a young child and have damages. This company is a nightmare. read more

Clayton is everything you could hope for in a home inspector--ethical, thorough, very knowledgeable about all aspects of a home, and just a genuinely nice person as well. For my first home purchase, I hired Clayton to do the home inspection at the recommendation of my realtor and I'm very glad I did. I knew the home had some issues, but since I was planning a fairly comprehensive renovation, I thought it was worth it. Thanks to Clayton and his willingness to climb into a very small crawlspace (pushing dirt out of his way so he could get a better view of the whole underside of the house!) I avoided purchasing a home with a compromised foundation and structural system. Everything looked ok close to the entrance of the crawlspace, so there is a good chance that another inspector might have stopped there, but Clayton found 8 compromised beams on the far side. Thanks to him, I will not have to deal with a problem house! He will be the home inspector I use on any property going forward, and I happily refer him to anyone I know who is house hunting. read more

I had the pleasure of having Clayton and his team complete 2 inspections for me. On the first home, he managed to find serious concerns that the sellers inspector had missed that would have turned a dream home into a money sucking nightmare. Thankfully, Clayton broke everything down for us in layman's terms and let us know everything we should consider before moving forward with the home. We ultimately ended up passing on the house. When we found a new house to pursue, we called up Clayton again to complete the inspection. The second went much better, but again Clayton found all the little things we should look into. I've used this company twice now (the first time they essentially saved me from buying a disaster) and could not recommend them highly enough. They are thorough, knowledgeable, professional, and a pleasure to work with. They provide you with a detailed report along with a narrated video (slideshow of the pictures) of them going over it with you. They also, for a small additional charge, will come out and re-inspect anything from the report that the seller indicated they addressed so that you can have complete peace of mind going into closing. Are they the cheapest inspectors around? Nope, not gonna lie. But I thoroughly believe that you get what you pay for with these folks; you will not regret it. We picked Green Scene over the inspectors recommend by our realtor because they had poor Yelp reviews. To say we are happy with the services received is an understatement. Moving from out of state to Texas we had concerns so I requested every inspection to make sure we knew as much about the home we were purchasing as possible. Some might complain about spending over $700 for an inspection and as I said I intentionally went overkill. In the end he saved us from buying a home with too many hidden problems. I had Tim as my home inspector and he was great! They have the job listed as 3+ hrs but by the time I got there he was wrapping up and it was right about on the 3hr mark. The video/slideshow presentation is a great way to be guided through any issues the house had and Tim did a great job at giving his professional feedback on things that needed to be repaired or replaced. Also, for finding them on Yelp I got half off the infrared imaging which showed any heat spots in the house. I would use these guys again and recommend them to others in a heartbeat. read more
