Purchased a new pool in the summer of 2023 to replace our old pool, with the middle package for filter and accessories, and hired while they recommended to install the pool. The salesman was wonderful, only reason I gave 2 stars. Flash forward to opening the pool this summer the filter had a crack at the bottom of the filter. We went to the store with our paperwork and the lovely manager said the warranty is only for the fiscal year and ended on December 31, 2023. No where on the paperwork said that (or was explained on the day of purchase). Fine, however He offered no help with replacement parts or what we can do to rectify the situation being it was only a year old. Explained people try to bring them back after not caring for them winter. We fully winterized and covered. Never in my life of owning a pool(over 15+) have a brought my filter inside.. which was also said we should have done. What it comes down to is the construction of the Blue Torrent filter is made like crap. Tons of putty inside, trying to caulk the seams. Thin plastic material. Oh and Blue Torrent basically said sorry not sorry. No we are out the almost $400 that part alone costs and buying another one after ONE YEAR OF OWNING!! Not stand by it. read more

My family have been a loyal customer of At HOME RECREATION IN BRICK FOR MNY YEARS. Bought a new liner in early sept. of this year at East Brunswick. had it installed by one of the installers on a paper provided and noticed within days of the pool losing water. m/t the pool and as told to look for a bad seam. At 73 years of age and barely able to walk getting in the pool was not happening. Now the manager tells my daughter buy another new one and see if the installer can find the bad seam. We will get a refund if he finds in within a year. Is this a scam ,I gave my money to at home not the manufactor. EXAMPLE, Igo to Lowes and buy a tool it doesn't work, never had to wait on the spot it was replaced from Lowes Very disappointed with how we were treated by AT HOMECREATION IN EAST BRUNSWICK NJ. At first, they seemed great. We bought a pool. The delivery guy, never called before coming. Left the entire pool, filter, bags of sand, etc on our front lawn. When my husband pulled up, he told the guy he was early and never called. To which the guy got nasty with my husband. That prompted a call to the pool store. After my husband gave them an earful, the manager came to our house to help my husband bring it all to the backyard where it should have been delivered. They gave us the list of installers they use. AWFUL. There were 4....one had horrible reviews, one never called us back, one wanted more money to install the pool then the pool cost itself. Left us the 4th option. Alexander came with his men. Took 2 days to dig the hole to install it partially in the ground. Put it up, then tried to extort another $1800 for him to finish setting up the filter and backfilling the trench around the pool. We told them to blow. Ended up doing it ourselves, 57 & 60 year olds doing that labor OURSELVES that should have been included in the install. They broke our drain pipe in the process, we had to fix that. Broke our wheelbarrow wheel while moving the dirt. Never told us. We fill the pool. Now have to give the town the specs. It was a pool partially buried in the ground. Asked Matt the salesman, 4 TIMES "are you sure this is the type that can be buried"? He yes'ed us all 4 times. Ask for the specs now, after it's installed and filled, he says "oh that isn't the kind that can be buried" WHAT!?!?!? Then, after I flipped out about that, 3 hours later he emails me to tell me the manufacturer warranty says it can be buried. Fine. Go to the store today with a water sample, and to get our 2 floats he gave us at 20% off for our "trouble". Tell him all the issues we have had. He blankly looks at me, offers no apology, nothing. Go to check out with the floats, he discounts them on the register, doesn't look at me, says nothing to me and walks away! I do NOT recommend this store at all! You are better off buying a pool directly from the manufacturer. We will not be buying any further chemicals for it there either. Awful experience. If I had to do it again, I would not!! read more

At home recreation is what I consider my "home" pool store. I stock up on chemicals, hoses etc. the team there is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. At home offers free water testing, although at times it feels like they may be pushing to sell more chemicals by recommending chemicals that aren't necessary thus the 1 star deduction. As far as prices go their costs are approximately 30 percent less than the chain store. read more

A giant, well stocked & staffed pool supply store with great prices and everything you need for your pool/yard including furniture! Without a doubt the largest pool supply store I've ever stepped in. Lots of pools on display filled with water to choose from. Aisles & aisles of pool and patio furniture and accessories. Extremely knowledgeable staffers ready to help usually without waiting unless you go on a busy time like a Saturday. Really it's more than just a pool store. They sell outdoor furniture, and all kinds of other stuff for your yard. The staff is really good, I needed a new filter and pump and chlorinator. Honestly everything was in my cart within five minutes time from walking into the store, and it was at the right price and the right quality. I needed some adapters and pipe grease which the staffer did not mention but I was impressed with how quickly he rounded up all of the main items that I needed. I bought my above ground pool here too, two seasons ago, and it has held up and worked perfectly since and I bought it 30% less than I could've bought it at any other pool store. The reason for the four stars is because like I said I still needed more minor materials to install my pump and filter. Also although their supplies are cheaper than other, smaller pool stores, they are still more than Walmart and other club stores. Highly recommended for pool or yard supplies and worth a drive as well due to their large selection and lower than other pool store prices. Do not buy anything that is expensive from this store. If you want to buy chlorine that's fine. When it comes to furniture or other expensive equipment you are on your own if it's damaged within a month or two. They will not stand behind their product and I was actually accused by the manager that i probably caused the damage. Shameful. We have purchased many expensive things here before. Does anyone have experience with the warranty process for At Home Recreation LLC. We have been trying for 3 years now to replace parts on our pool. We have emailed, faxed, called and even went to the store to try and get some help. This is a real shame we are being lead down the path of contacting the better business bureau and when courts open I am guessing a civil suit. In need of pool supplies, I find this place to be not only the most friendly and helpful, but their prices seems to be a little bit less than the competition. Tons of pool, out door furniture & billiards products parts & accessories stacked high in this warehouse showroom. I've been patronizing them since they opened for years ago. From time to time I've brought in broken parts not only have they kindly directed me as to what I needed to do to hopefully make it work , but on more than one occasion actually fixed it for me at the store for no labor charge, parts only charge. The crew is surprisingly knowledgeable especially when it comes to pool products which is my primary reason for shopping there. They're pretty cool about testing your pool's water for free to let you know what you need to do to improve the quality. Although recently I was told to add pH increaser to raise the PH levels because my pool was murky. Unfortunately this rose the alkalinity level through the roof, I was informed I had to buy pH decreaser? Also they are not good about returning items after a certain length of time which I believe is less than or around 30 days, boo. There may be a few other competitors in the area. The other shops are definitely significantly smaller. With all things considered this will probably continue to remain where you'll catch me getting my pool supplies. read more

This past July my son purchased a repair "O" ring for his in line chlorinator from the the Brick Township store. While he was there he advised the clerk that he was running low on chlorine and would need a bucket of new tabs. The clerk selected and sold him a bucket of chlorine tabs along with the "O"ring for his chlorinator. When my son added the chlorine tabs to his chlorinator, the entire chlorine unit became a chlorine bomb and blew up within 20 minutes. The explosion caused a huge chlorine cloud that caused him and the family pets to gag and have extreme discomfort breathing. Upon close examination of the chemical that was sold to us, it was a quick dissolving chlorine tab that is specifically prohibited to be used in on line chlorinators. This past Saturday I brought the damaged chlorinator and bucket of tabs to the Brick Township store and spoke with their manager, Vinny. Vinny showed little concern and advised "we sell tons of these chlorine tablets with no problems......what do you want me to do?" When questioned further if he as the manager would recommend these tablets for use in an on line chlorinator he advised "we sell tons of them for exactly that use!" When I showed him on the label that it specically prohibits the use of the quick dissolve tablets in on line chlorinators........he rudely said, well I'll give you a new chlorinator. His and his staff's lack of knowledge could have caused blindness or death! Incredibly when I called and emailed the presidents office to report this matter for them to hopefully take an action to avoid future mistakes, I was denied access and I have not received a return email. read more

Since I had a good experience purchasing patio furniture here I finally drove into the pool world and pulled the trigger. I shopped around at a few different places and ultimately decided to go with here because these guys manufacture the pools and sell their models to other pool places. Figure going directly to the pool manufacture was the best bet. Feel like I got a good deal on all the bells and whistles and the sales guy was knowledgeable. Picking up the order was easy and the staff was thorough and helped load the boxes. What really came to mind was for service was recently I needed to replace a fitting on my auto chlorinator because the deck installer tripped and cracked it in half. Not sure who his name was but the service guy with the beard was clutch and found me the part I needed and saved the day. Didn't charge me or anything. As a second visit to the At Home Recreation in Ocean, NJ, I was ready to purchase a hot tub. However, I walked away with NOTHING. There was one other customer in the store when I arrived. He was being served by a representative. There were two other associates standing around and not once acknowledged me , my daughter nor my son; a definite appearance of non-existent. We roamed the store aimlessly for about 20 minutes. Yet, a couple walked in and to my surprise, one associated quickly greeted the couple and immediately began to assist them. My family immediately left and not once were we offered help!! Shopping while black! It was evident that this encounter was one with a racial undertone! I am appalled and very upset. If any stockholders are reading this perhaps you will understand if this type of service spreads through your stores and you notice a change in profit, I would say it is because of this type of behavior. as to why the profits are down. Someone needs to re-train, employees on cultural sensitivity. read more

There is a sign on the entrance door stating that per State Governance masks and face coverings must be worn in the store due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Though all customers entering the store are abiding by this rule, several employees are simply ignoring it. One employee approached us asking if we needed help all while mask-less. It makes absolutely no sense as to why employees are not abiding by rules clearly printed on their own door. I wish I could rate zero stars. read more

Went to the brick location yesterday to look for a pool cleaner for our inground pool. The sales person Frank was very helpful and explained each of the cleaners to me. Being we inherited the pool when we bought the house and need some education as this is our first pool, he took the time to go over our water test results and explained how and why we needed to add each item. The place is well stocked, organized, and they sell a wide variety of other things I thought I might like to check out when I have more time. But when shopping in a pinch it works. Also, I wanted to mention, I forgot to purchase something so I looked up At Home Recreation to get their site and saw some negative reviews. My experience was different and it seemed to me that they clearly make an effort towards customer service. I can't see any reason to complain about a huge store with a huge selection. Sold me the wrong pool. When I called to complain I was told to stop b******* because they have my signature so nothing will be done. Then laughed when he said call corporate, they have been through this before and with a signature corporate won't care. Even spoke with salesman who admitted he remembered us and all we talked about and bought was the other pool. He doesn't know why he screwed up. Manager told us we would need to pay $400 and wait another 2-3 weeks. Oh, and even called the week prior to confirm the correct pool. This place is garbage. I should have listened to the people in town who told us this place was a scam but somehow they have a good ranking on Google so we bought from them. Pool was installed by about time services when filled and the filter was on the return hose leaked. Four calls to the installer and three to the store and the assistant manager said why don't you fix it yourself. Instead of getting in touch with the installer and getting him to fix it that was his advice. Service apparently doesn't count for diddly squat these days. HAZLET STORE: This is the second time in my life writing on one of these things about a company. It's just not my thing to do. But when you're treated like complete garbage by multiple people at one place I think people need to spread the word. From the moment we stepped in to the store the rudeness and disrespect didn't stop. At or about 10,000 dollars spent here and really no better solution to reimburse us being offered for selling a defective product to us. PROs - Prices are generally lower than competition - including chemicals CONS - 1. They gear everything to selling above ground pools, furniture (--that's where the margins are) and parts for above ground - limited in-ground pool parts are available 2. PARTS can be very cheaply made - here is one example that I experienced -- e.g., after my old vacuum hose broke (over 12 yrs old) i bought one of theirs. it broke the 1st season. OK, it was cheaper than the competition -- so I bought another, and that one broke within 6 weeks. so I took it back and they reluctantly replaced it, admitting that they had a quality problem and new "improved" hoses would be avail next season. still using this replacement hose but need to handle it like it very gingerly. Other maintenance items are dirt cheap -- e.g. leaf catchers -- as low as $3 -- but reminder, they break easily (and they do) 3. Prices are going up -- needed a gasket for the filter at the start of this year; it was $10. I happened to have the package from when I replaced it last year -- that was marked $7.50 -- (this was for some rubber). That's a big increase! 4. Returns -- can't return any chemicals -- even if it is clear it has not been opened. - so before buying anything be absolutely sure that you need it Re: free water test --- everybody does this, no big deal shop cautiously read more

The luck of responsibility makes it impossible to deal with At Home Recreation. I purchased above ground pool last August and was promised by Terry that Paul from Precision pool installers is a wonderful person who did such a wonderful job for other people and he can recommend him. Paul installed pool and before he left we found cigarettes on our deck and garbage including coffee cups on our driveway. It was a bad sign and sure enough after few days we stepped in to the pool and found out that bottom was very soft. It was a replacement and our previous pool was very firm and absolutely flat. After few weeks we could see a lot of pot holes and worst, there was big dent in lining around metal belt that supposed be buried in sand but it was not and could cut the lining at any time. When I called Paul he told me that he will fix it next Saturday. When I called him Friday the day before, he told me that I call with to short notice. So, I ask what would be next time he said next Saturday. I said OK can you text me that date with appointment. He said that he des not text (hard to believe). Mean while Terry from At Home Recreation told me that I will need new lining and I need to come and pick it up, pay for it and then they will give me a refund if I send them cut of the old one. Then he changed version that I can purchase one cheaper from another vendor. When I asked Paul the installer to get the lining he told me that he values his time and he will not do it because it says in his company's hand book that he does not pick up any materials. The problem is that he never show to me his company's handbook or even give me a formal receipt for my cash payment right after installation. I value my time as well but I will ask my lawyer how much he will charge At Home recreation and Paul from Precision Pool Installers for his time? Needles to say these two companies are almost a scam. This is the worst business I dealt with since a long time. They do not have high rating but do not deserve even that 3 stars they have. The owner had my google review removed. He apparently can do that, so do not trust google reviews. I purchased what I believed to be a new hot tub. The company delivered it and it sat unused in the backyard from delivery in September 2018 to May 2019. I had an electrician come out to hook it up and when he started to fill the hot tub it leaked all over the yard. I called at home recreation for service and was treated horribly. I spoke to the owner to no avail and had to file a dispute with the finance company. After filing a dispute with the finance company they finally agreed to resolve the leakage issue. After same I let the dispute close. The pump in my hot tub is not working and I called a service repair under the terms of the warranty. They have refused to repair the hot tub stating I owe them money from a year ago and their employee against used a curse word to me and called me wretched (I have a tape). I have been cursed at by At Home Recreation employees and treated poorly. It is reprehensible the way this company treats its customers. read more
