These gus were so kind and I was as always in search of last minute parts for a lectric folding electric bike with fat boy tires. They were so resourceful. I was already at another bike supply place and just the way they handled my call with care knowledge and expertise about my specific needs proved I needed to start the car and head right there. Walked in the place so rad. They had my parts waiting at the counter. There was a gentleman there that came out to my car looked at my bike build and was so helpful and not rushing me to jump to the next customer. I paid around $40 for a new chain and fat boy tire tube. I believe it was fair priced, but it didn't matter bc the quality of service had me loyal to being their customer not amazons. Could not have cared less, rude, condescending, ego maniac who insulted you for buying an e-bike then does nothing to help you choose, orders the wrong one, calls you and tell you it's in and then when you walk in the store to pick it up, he says "I don't think you're gonna want this. it only has one gear". WORST service, personality EVER. Would not have bought anything from this guy if it was two cents. I wanted to get my tires fixed and now my tire doesn't even move. It is 10/19/24 and I had got it the on the 17th went in there for a tire repair, guy said it would be 50$ had to pay 100 because he needed to replace the whole thing. The same day I got it I was trying to leave my driveway with it and then the chain popped, fixed the chain this morning and now the tire doesn't even move lol. I recall going there (about a year ago) to get a cover for my bike and spoke to one of the younger kids. he didn't have anything on the shelf for me, so he took my name down and tel # and said the owner would call the next day to let me know what they could do for me. i never got a call. that's when I decided to go to Kim's in New Brunswick....and have continued going there to day even tho it's 4x as far. read more

Job well done.. I took my E-Bike there to get a flat tire fixed. The people was nice and told me what needed to be done I also said that I needed my chain tuned they did that as well at a good price. Over all my experience was awesome my work was done the same day. Was happy to have my transportation done and fixed in a matter of 8 hours. Had high hopes based on Google reviews but these guys are awful. Called in in hopes of getting a tune up and some tire replacements done on a Brompton I picked up when living in NYC, quoted $90 for tune up and $15 per tire. Cool, bet.. let's get this done. Was going to come back for even bigger jobs so decided to test the waters a bit. Needed to check my schedule to find time with work from home being a thing. Their rep's response? "Thanks for wasting my time." I laughed thinking he was joking. The phone went dead. The ridiculousness of it all made me laugh. I thought I was on Candid Camera or Punk'd with the way my experience went. Bizarre stuff. Bought my son's new bike here just a few days ago. Honest and no hard selling. The buying experience was laid back, no pressure, etc. I then brought my old cannondale in for servicing and a needed fix. When there was no availability for a discontinued part for it, they suggested my trying to get the part at one of their nearby competitors (part is no longer available anywhere) without any thoughts of competition or withholding information. COVID 19 is stressful for everyone...I get it. But for a small business to be rude over the phone is simply inexcusable. I had a bike picked out that I literally had in my online cart and about it hit "checkout". But I also have 2 other bikes I wanted to get serviced so figured i would call to understand the logistics of the contactless service and pickup of the new nike etc. Was told that he was the only one here and working on bikes and that the service instructions are clearly written on the door. (I've been to many bike shops and understand that but when I asked more about how that works since everything is contactless in this new paradigm - he was completely off put by my request and repeated that it was all written on the door. ). He added it was first come first serve and you just leave your bike outside. Hmmm - not really comfortable leaving my $5k ride outside without even getting a service ticket. As for the bike I had in the cart he basically told me that he only carries Trek and Giant and that everything is online (with the attitude that I was likely looking for something lower end and that i should check the website before wasting his time.) I politely thanked him for his "time" and asked what his name was but he actually just hung up before i finished speaking. So I will now pick up the $1k Electra cruiser bike for my wife at another trek dealership that is significantly further from my house. Can't bring myself to excuse the rude behavior even though out of convenience and the want for the specific bike i really tried to. I had also read some pretty rough reviews on yelp but was convinced it was just a bad day or a one off. Bike folks are really generally super friendly and good people. Well not the case here. I for one will gladly drive 15 min more to the next shop who was SUPER friendly and was happy to explain how the whole service drop off / pickup works. I decided to sell my giant stance and determined I wanted it checked over and tuned. Determined I needed a new chain and cassette. Had the chain and rear cassette installed. On pickup I asked the owner to have his tech ride it for me and verify it was shifting properly. I would have done this myself, but my arm was in a sling due to shoulder surgery. Owner informed that was not necessary as the tech does this as part of the chain install. I got the bike home and my buyer test rode it and determined it would not shift between the 5 and 6th rear gear. There was a spacer missing in the rear cassette ! read more

Brought my 8 year old daughter today to get her first " real" bike and Barry and the guys as planet Bike showed that this is a craft business and that they are the kings of their craft. All the way down to the smallest details they spent hours trying to figure out the best solution for my daughter and were patient, professional and moreover a throwback to what I remember when I bought my first bike. BUYER BEWARE: Location on RT 18 is horrible, I will never buy a bike or use them for any type of service ever again. I would rather have the wheels fall off my bike going down hill at 40mph and land face first, knocking out my teeth on the asphalt. The store owner is very rude and most of the staff with the exception of one person follows his lead. He lies and tries to avoid your phone calls by telling his employees to say he's not in the shop when he clearly is in the back room hiding from you. He should also not be a Trek/Giant authorize dealership because he's bringing poor business decisions that will change how I buy my bikes from that specific company. I will now travel 45 mins in the opposite direction to service my bikes. Giving you one star is a compliment and the last thing I'll write, maybe its a sign from God, when your store burns down to the ground from your other location, you should just not be in business anymore because your customer service stinks. read more

I should have read the reviews before I went in here. I went in thinking I could save money on a tune-up since my regular shop was 30 miles towards the shore. $60+tax for a tune up at this joint. So, I get my Trek mountain bike back and it looks like the only thing they did was put air in the tires and change my bike seat height. Nothing, and I mean nothing else was touched. Nothing tightened, nothing lubed, not a thing. The other place (Cycles54) would give your bike back and have it looking like new. ALL the moving parts would be lubed up and CLEANED. Cycles54 actually looked like they took the whole bike apart and SERVICED it like they should. I mean the bike looked brand new and even smelled new (seriously). I brought this up to the attention of the owner when I picked it up and his response was, "Yeah, well, we're mechanics, we don't detail the bikes." Right, thanks. I won't be coming back then! Spend your money somewhere else! read more

Professional cycle sales and repair at this quality bike shop. Barry the owner a great guy that's quick to offer equipment advice including direction to NJ trails. Picking the proper ride must not only meet your true riding needs, but must fit your dimensions and weight. A common mistake is buying one that's too small or worst one that's too big ( my wife got one that's too big, but she's spoiled anyway) . I'm not a cycling expert, but the crew here seems not only friendly and courteous, but fast and knowledgeable. There's usually several techs available to assist almost immediately if you're in a last minute pinch for repair. An average to smaller sized stop with meager inventory, but nice variety. Plenty of gear to choose from from riding dry wear, shoes & accessories. The prices are typically a bit higher than department stores, but this is to be expected for quality products and service. Before you pull the trigger on a new ride or need repair swing by and ask for Barry, he'll hook you. read more

Out of the half dozen+ bike shops I've been to this place is the best, prices are noticeably lower than other places both bikes and services. The staff is very help very accommodating, and knowledgeable about their. Every time I've been there there have been several people working I never had to wait to get help. What they don't have on the floor the build up for you pretty quick, if a bike you want to try is not in stock they do order it for you(with a nonrefundable deposit). They're very patient and understanding they answered all my question. They have a second location 15 min away, if one shop doesn't have something they carry the other usually does, if you don't mind waiting they ll bring the bike over to which ever store the next day. If you're looking for a trek or giant, this is the place to go. read more

Came in today to buy my son a bike and the experience was pretty much perfect. My needs were simple, the employee working there was attentive but not in my face, all of my questions were answered, and I got what I felt was a fair price on a new Trek bicycle. Extra points for the dude showing patience while my son rode around the store banging into all the bicycles trying to find one he liked. I'm disappointed to read that other Yelpers claim to have had a less than ideal experience shopping here. For the record, I did not experience a single negative today. I came into the shop looking for spin shoes. While the selection was not huge, based on my research after browsing what they had to offer, the shoes they did have were good brands and what I would probably choose if I were to purchase fro another bike shop or online. I didn't feel pressure from the worker to buy right then and there. He answered all of my questions and let me try the shoes on a bike to get a feel for them. I returned later that day after doing my research and purchased the shoes. The price was in line with what I saw being charged elsewhere. He put my cleats on and did a fine job with them. I was also impressed the shop has a website. I had no issues and would buy spin shoes from this shop again. read more

Brought my ebike here to have my BRAKES fixed. A pretty standard, easy repair. Upon noticing that it was an ebike the manager said "sorry we don't work on ebikes" (even tho they SELL ebikes and have for years). I told him it was a simple brake repair to which he responded "if I mess up and pull out the wrong cable I won't be able to fix it, I'm not an electrician". One of the dumbest things I've ever heard. So basically you have zero confidence in your ability to do a simple brake repair?? I said ok then and left very disappointed. Fast forward to this weekend when I brought my bike to SC Action Sports Bike Shop in Howell (which was more of a hike for me). They looked at what needed to be done and did it RIGHT ON THE SPOT. It took the tech (who was a young guy) about 10 minutes!!! We were so happy because not only was it fixed, we didn't have to leave it there (which at Planet Bike we would've had to leave it). So yeah, don't waste your time at this place. You're dealing with a bunch of incompetent amateurs who obviously can't handle simple repairs. The trip to Howell was well worth it. It further solidified the fact that the guy I spoke to here was a complete moron. (I believe he's the manager as well, he wasn't a young kid.) I'll never go to this place again and I'd advise you not to as well. My next review will be for SC Action Sports where they'll be getting 5 stars. But only after I hit Google reviews to further ridicule this horrible establishment of unprofessionalism. read more

My wife and I bought two bikes at Planet Bike this weekend. We were helped by Eli, a nice young man who really knows a lot about bikes. He wasn't pushy at all, gave us a lot of info, and wrote down the models we were considering and the prices so we could do our own research and comparison shopping. We tried out a number of bikes and he explained the different features, components, frame sizes, etc. All in all, it was a great experience and we'd certainly go back -- and plan to, for maintenance as well as discounted accessories. This place is great. I have come for a tune up and a couple of times just to fix my chain. One time they didn't even charge me! Everyone is so nice and helpful and they never have tried to up sell me. The only thing I know about bikes it how to ride them, other than that in clueless lol. I can't believe all of he negative reviews on here. My experience as a mountain biker is extremely limited. I knew nothing when I first walked into the Brunswick store. I was greeted by an employee as soon as he finished with the previous customer he was helping. He entertained my questions for about 25 minutes while I asked every newbie question in the book. I told him I wanted to do some research but I would be back in a few days. I felt almost no pressure to buy while I was in the store, just an extremely helpful staff. After making my decision, I returned to the store ready to purchase 2 bikes, one for my girlfriend and one for me. I was greeted by the owner almost immediately and he began helping me with the process. I'm quite indecisive so it took a while but we finally got our orders placed. He even helped pick out helmets and a car rack. Less than two days later I received a call from the owner letting me know that our bikes were ready to be picked up and we could come any time after 7pm (great hours btw). We showed up and our bikes were ready. My helmet still hadn't arrived but no big deal. It showed up the next day (uncontrollable). Anyway, after selling us the bikes, helmets, riding pants, and an amazing car rack (with 10% off each accessory), the owner didn't stop there. He proceeded to walk us out the the parking lot and show us step by step how to install the car rack and load the bikes. He also told us about beginner riding groups and different trails that we could visit. Couldn't be happier with our purchases and the customer service we received. THANKS PLANET BIKE! All three times we purchased our bikes, the people at Planet Bike were helpful, transparent and earnest when it came what's best in terms of quality and price! These guys are awesome! I recently took my ATX 2 to them because the rear axel broke part. It broke because I can't get enough of the trails. In Any case, Barry took my bike, and fixed in five minutes!
