Everything went well. I didn't come here to leave a review originally. I was searching for lake logan Cottages Instagram page and came across yelp. The reviews weren't steller. We have stayed in 5 of their cabins over the last 2 years and have had an excellent time every time. Are these high end 5 star Cabins / Cottages probably not. However they are really clean and cozy Cottages for an affordable price. They have 3 lake front Cottages one of which is and old log cabin. All of the lake front properties are fairly private for being waterfront. This particular cottage is called On the Lake. I'm not big on reviews however I feel most people have only left reviews for complaints. So I figured I would add some good insights for a small business that has allowed us to be able to get away many times without breaking the bank. We will definitely recommend to others as well. We enjoyed our trip as always. Just a couple things that maybe could be improved on. First thing is 100% the trees coming out of the driveway need to be trimmed back about 5 feet or a mirror needs to be put in the trees across the street so your guests can see. It was so nerve racking coming out of there every single time as we were worried we would get creamed by a car. Dave even almost got hit pulling out one day when he was there. It's only a matter of time before one of your guests get killed leaving that property. Another issue, we literally saw Dave every day we were there. Friday it was lawn work. Pretty sure that could've been done in between guests, while the cabin was being cleaned. Sunday it was bc the hot tub needed a filter. Then we were packing up today around 10:20 and he was already on the property doing stuff. How are people supposed to come and have a romantic weekend when you have the cabin keepers coming to the property every day? We found it very intrusive and awkward for our relaxing trip. The cabin has the potential to be a really really nice cabin if it was redone/remodeled/updated. We know people would be fighting for that rental being right on the lake and especially having a dock as well. It would be even better if it were more modern and more comfortable. You can just tell it's not as nice as some of the other rentals in the area. We've stayed in a couple and it's definitely nice coming back to a nicer placer that you paid for instead of a place that's just like a regular house. The furniture is old and dirty. The living room and bedroom is very dark and dusty. There are cobwebs on the beams and even in the rack above the oven with the pots and pans and the dishes on the shelves are dusty. If it was a nicer cabin you could charge more money to rent it out. We'd rather pay an extra $300 and stay in a nicer place with WiFi mind you. The only reason we took this one was because it was on the lake and had the dock and we had planned to have a boat with us, which didn't happen. But cabins directly on the lake with docks to rent are very rare in that area and y'all could really be getting so much more if it was nicer. But again we enjoyed our stay. I know not a lot of time is spent at the cabin when we are in the area but when we are at the cabin we want to comfortable and relaxed and not feel like we're being watched. read more

We stayed at 30195 Cottage on the Hill for 5 nights the last week of August 2023. Fortunately, the weather was outstanding and we didn't need to be inside for much of the time. Extremely disappointing rental and particularly for the price!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!! Outside has been neglected for far too long. Banisters rickety, no comfortable outdoor furniture, some even broken. Windows filthy, weeds, cobwebs, rusty furniture. Inside, moldy ceiling in bathroom, banister to lower level is loose and dangerous, carpets worn, ill equipped kitchen, cheap plastic hangers in bedrooms, outlets in bathroom don't work, and on and on. Owner never responded to text message I sent prior to arrival with question. Owner never came to cottage to collect unpaid balance, just went ahead and charged to credit card. Owner never made any effort to welcome or check in on us for the length of our stay. I have stayed in many airbnb's and cottages ~ this is the most ill equipped, dirty, uncomfortable, moldy, and unfriendly place I have stayed. read more

Well I guess we should have read the reviews for on the hill at lake Logan. This is our first night. Im writing this at 5 am. I have not sleep. Why? Animals scratching in the wall for hours. At 4 I watched 2 mice run across the kitchen floor. The shower head is yellow..from not being cleaned. The Jets in the tub are also yellow. Their decor is also yellow stained. It smelled like smoke when we walked in. This is disgusting. I do not want to stay here another night. Do not stay here. I can get a nice hotel for the amount I paid for this shithole. I really hesitated to write this review, because the owners of this cabin seem like nice people and I thought maybe they were just having a hard time due to COVID or something. But after reading the way other guests were treated, and seeing how long the cottage has been in this shape, I decided to post mine. This place is a mess; such a mess that I'd truly hate for anyone to spend money to stay here. Outside: the decks are dirty with severely chipped paint and rotting wood. The deck furniture is covered in leaves, dirt, and spiderwebs. Another guest said the outside spaces are unusable, and that is accurate. They're so gross we couldn't use them unless we deep cleaned them first. The wood enclosure around the hot tub is falling apart, and the hot tub water looked too filthy to get in it. We didn't even attempt it. The entire outside of the cottage is in disrepair. All of the walkways are overgrown with weeds, including a lot of poison ivy. The dock has 2 broken boards that someone is eventually going to fall through, and another board cracked loudly when I stepped on it. Inside: The carpet is stained and torn throughout. The entire cottage smells very strongly like mold and sweat. All of the interior doors stick from humidity. The doorknob on the door from the main living room to the sunroom jams so badly that it takes multiple attempts to open it every time you walk through. The furniture is completely worn out (one couch is so broken down you sink almost to the floor). The central air wasn't working when we arrived and it was 90 degrees outside, so we had to contact the owners on our first day to have window air conditioners put in. They brought in an HVAC company our second day who supposedly fixed the problem, but after they left, the central air still didn't get the inside of the cottage below 78 degrees, so if they say it was recently fixed...it wasn't. We brought our 2 small dogs with us and specifically asked Dave to call us before allowing anyone in the cottage so we could come back and manage the dogs if we were out and about. They agreed to call us when the HVAC people were on the way. We got back from breakfast on the second morning and found the HVAC company finishing up, and Dave told us he was the "only one" who had gone inside the house while we were gone. We ended up having to run the central air when we wanted to watch the (only) good TV in the basement, then running the window air conditioners when we were upstairs. The banister leading to the basement is loose and wobbling. There was a sock from another guest stuck in the ivy draped over the basement railing. There are small black ants that got into some packaged food we had on the counter in the kitchen and we had to throw it away. I just unpacked some totally sealed food we brought home and it was crawling with ants, so I brought ants home with me. The shower puts out the weakest trickle of water I've ever seen, and it's well water that reeks of iron. The smell is nauseating and clings to your skin and hair, so you don't feel clean after showering. The shower curtain is covered in a thick, rusty film and looks like it hasn't been changed in months. After you make a reservation, the owners ask you to leave the cottage exactly as you found it, and they make it clear that it isn't professionally cleaned between guests. They include a threat of charging your credit card with cleaning fees after the fact if the cottage is not adequately cleaned when you leave. I'm sorry, but I refuse to clean a rented cottage beyond picking up after myself, especially when it wasn't cleaned prior to my arrival. There are cobwebs and dust everywhere. That is ridiculous. The property is severely neglected. I regret spending money to stay here and our vacation pretty much sucked because we couldn't spend time outside and the inside of the cottage is so gross, dark, and smelly. I wanted to go home almost immediately, and we ended up leaving a day early. We didn't even attempt to ask for a refund based on the reviews from previous guests. DON'T STAY HERE. read more

I stayed at The Loft, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was inexpensive and so much nicer than staying in a hotel. I really wanted to have a full kitchen and this was the perfect size for me and my small dogs. It was cozy, the AC worked, and I enjoyed my coffee each morning on the balcony. Although there is no view of Lake Logan, it is just up the hill from it and there were lots of birds and bird song. I had been a little worried after some of the bad Yelp reviews, but I think it depends on which place you stay. The Loft was great and if I go to Hocking Hills again I wouldn't mind staying there again. read more

My boyfriend and I just returned from Hocking Hills and stayed at the Little Loft Getaway. It was small and quaint; we thought it was very cute! It was also very affordable, and we were hoping for a getaway on a budget. We were impressed that it provided us with nearly everything we needed, although we brought most of our stuff with us because we weren't sure what to expect and didn't know there was a strip mall with a Walmart and gas station on the other side of the highway. Sally and David even brought us towels because we didn't know we had to bring our own until we arrived at Hocking Hills. The only things that we were disappointed with in the loft were the shower, refrigerator, and the patio door. The shower was really a shower kit, so there was no tile, just drywall. It was also extremely dirty and rusted at the bottom of the tub, which we noticed when we pulled off the anti-slip mat. The caulking wasn't applied properly, was peeling, and the walls of the shower were yellow. The underneath of the anti-slip mat was black. We just thought the shower and mat hadn't been cleaned, so we bought a sponge and some gloves, used cleaner that was in the loft, and cleaned both. The tub only looked slightly cleaner than before we started, but the mat was a lost cause. Unfortunately, we still felt the shower was too gross to use, and as a result couldn't shower for the entire weekend. The refrigerator just barely kept our food cold and it was on the coldest setting. The freezer was perfect. The patio door was a little difficult to operate. The door itself slid closed most of the way, but needed a little encouragement to make sure it closed all the way. We had to turn the key all the way to one side and then back to lock it and check the door a few times to make sure it was, in fact, locked. Overall, staying at the loft was good experience. We were out most of the day anyway and it accommodated most of our needs. This was my first time to Hocking Hills and our first time renting a place to stay. Next time, we will be sure to read some reviews before booking a place to ensure we have a better experience. read more

Took our first family vacation here worst idea ever, cabins stink and are out dated, the staff helps them selves into your rental as they please. We left at 930ish in the morning to go get stuff from walmart 7 miles up the road, got a text at 10am that they were in our room, mind you we havent cleaned up from breakfast or checked out which is at 11am .She began to text me about how I needed to be a parent and constantly harrassed me to the point my family didnt feel comfortable to come back . At The Lake cabin/cottage is a clean, cozy and relaxing place to stay. This is our second time here, and I'm already planning my next stay. This is truly a place to forgot everyday life and stresses. The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen and regular sized refrigerator. One of the bed rooms overlooks Lake Logan. It's a stunning view to see the sun rise from your bed in the morning. This is our second visit to Lake Logan Cottages, the first being a year ago when we stayed at a stones throw for our anniversary. We loved it, sleeping accommodations were wonderful and it was very close to restaurants and hiking locations. We recently stayed at old log on the lake and we loved it! The cabin is very hidden and quiet, sitting on a fenced in lakefront with plenty of room for outdoor activities. I have read some pretty negative reviews regarding these cabins and to be honest, we have had nothing but wonderful experiences while staying and when communicating with the owner, Sally! We come to hike and we bring our dogs and we do not expect a 5 star hotel, after all, this is Hocking Hills. The cleanliness has been just fine, keep in mind most of the cabins in this area are older and decorated to suit. We have stayed in Hocking Hills many times, as we also got married down here and Lake Logan Cottages have by far been our favorite stay and location! Thanks Sally!! I am extremely disappointed in the quality of accommodations that we encountered at A Stone's Throw. The smell inside was horrible (musty/moldy) as was the condition of the shower. There were loose pretzels in a kitchen drawer, the plates were dripping wet when I removed one from the cabinet, the furniture was dirty and ripped, sheets had holes in them, there were rugs everywhere to cover a large quantity of stained carpets, front door wouldn't release the key when inserted without a great deal of struggling , steps were treacherous going into the "porch bedroom" (child fell off the edge as there's no railing), bedpan found in a cabinet in the bathroom, cinder blocks littered the back yard, and the steep hill was very treacherous for our children (3 falls). We were not expecting the Hilton, but at the price point we paid we were expecting clean, safe conditions. Additionally, I find it upsetting that the owners encourage folks to pay with cash by offering a 10% savings. Credit card companies do not charge a fee greater than 2-3%. Credit cards, Square, and PayPal all offer buyer protections that would not benefit the poor and sad scam on unsuspecting travelers. Our family had to cut our trip short because of the poor conditions at this property. We spent several hundred additional dollars to move to a different location that was great. The unethical practices actually cost us a day of our trip, and Sally didn't even offer as much as an apology. She did not offer to refund us for the nights we did not utilize the space (or any portion for that matter), she was rude, and she hung up on me. The photos shown online are clearly very outdated or taken by a photographer with great editing skills. Sally and Dave should take pride in their business. If cleaning and care taking is too much for them to do, pay someone who can do it for them. But above all, don't misrepresent your accommodations online, take hundreds of dollars from people, and leave them stuck with unfit conditions. I really don't know how they sleep at night. We stayed at 30195 lake Logan road , cottage on lake a year ago. When we arrived couldn't believe how old the place was. I am very allergic to mold so the bedroom I could not go in because of the musty smell. So we just avoided that room. So we stayed out side and was enjoying the water front property but then the rain came in so I went to go inside and the mold was so bad because the rain and the air conditioner released it into the house I couldn't even go in there any more because my lungs close and my chest starts to hurt and I loose my voice. So I stayed out of the house and stayed in the sun porch and slept down stairs. Well we called the owners to tell them but they said it was quiet time but then ended showing up and told us to leave and I said I wasn't leaving because I had a few drinks and I will be leaving in the morning. I could sleep down stairs. But they never left after our discussion she set in the side of the house and taped my conversation that I was having in the phone. So the next morning they showed up to tell us to get out. So as I was in the house packing my close and all our stuff I was sick couldn't talk because I loose my voice from the mold she was making fun of my voice and calling me mental and wouldn't stop. We was suppose to stay Thursday until Sunday but left Friday morning and she ripped us off of hundreds of dollars and wouldn't return it. Please beware of the owners. read more

Absolutely filthy! Well water smells like rotten eggs which usually means bacteria. Water damage obvious in ceiling and walls. Holes in flooring and paneling peeling. Furniture is old ripped and dusty. Bed sheets not washed...could tell due to the snot on the pillow case. Everything outside covered in pine needles. Huge gaps between floor and walk-in bathroom. Dust and pet hair everywhere! Spiders and cobwebs everywhere! Furniture in yard is dirty and has no cushioning. No privacy at all you have neighbors all around who can stare directly at you on the deck. Only gave them one start because you have to give at least one. No outside lighting except small dim strand of light going down railing of steep steps. Sponges for washing dishes are old and stink...dishes are crusty. AC only stays cold at night. We stayed 3 nights at The Loft Getaway in July. The place was clean, if a bit crowded with furniture. Getting in and out the driveway isn't something I would want to try in a pouring rain or the winter as you are making a sharp right turn into it and then immediately up a hill. The trees could use trimming as they're on the overgrown side. Yes, there was a smell, but most of that is the well water. The place was more than adequate for our needs. read more

We have rented many cabins and cottages in the Hocking Hills area and the "Top of the Hill" Cottage at Lake Logan Cottages was far under the standards we have come to expect. The cottage looked fine from outside. We unloaded the car and began putting food away when we found a dead mouse in the kitchen drawer. It had found a trap, obviously several days before we arrived, as it smelled horrible. After opening a drawer and finding that, I was nervous about opening drawers for the remainder of our stay. Then seeing the mouse droppings on the shelves with the silverware and dishes, we decided to wash the ones we would use and store them away from the cabinets. Okay, it's the country and there may be mice. Decided to deal with that, and get over it. We cooked dinner and decided to relax, start a fire and watch a movie. The fire place had been used a lot, but not cleaned out. The ashes were literally piled up to the grate. I carried 4 buckets of ashes outside and dumped them in the woods. Looked around for wood, and saw none, so I called Sally (the owner) she said we might be able to buy some at a gas station or something, bus she wasn't sure where. I drove down to Walmart and bought a couple bundles of wood. The flue in the fireplace was hanging down to where it was visible, so I didn't have to worry about opening it. We did watch a movie, and enjoy the fire. We didn't enjoy the hot tub, as it was covered in lime scale and had stuff floating in it. Not to mention the control panel was un-readable and we couldn't get the heat to go above 89. If we had figured it out, I doubt we would have gotten in, because it was just dirty. There is a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, but the jets were in desperate need of being cleaned. They were orange looking. So, we didn't use that either. As a matter of fact, since there were only two hand towels and four wash cloths in the cottage, we kept our bathing to a minimum. The hand towel that was in the half bath had been used and was dirty. The toilet in the half bath must have a slow leak, because you can hear the water kick on and run for a few minutes about every half hour. There is a large leak spot on the living room ceiling by the top of the chimney. It looks as though it has been there a while. We put dry dog food down and a bowl of water for the dog. On returning from a hike, we noticed that the dog food was covered with ants. Literally covered!! As we cleaned it up and tried to sweep the ants up, we looked all over the cottage and couldn't find a dust pan. We made one out of a cardboard box, so we could sweep up the ants and throw them outside. We kept out bags up off the floor to keep the ants and mice out of them. I was nervous about going to the bathroom during the night. Afraid I'd disturb the rodents that obviously live there. Finally, when I saw the amount we were charged for the cottage, it was almost $50 more than the bill we were emailed said we would be charged. I found out that there is a 10% fee because we didn't pay in cash. We made the reservations on-line, not sure how we were expected to secure the cabin without using a credit card. We have paid less for much nicer cabins and cottages in the Hocking Hills area. I guess we have been fortunate because we have never experienced anything like this place before. read more

This place gets 1 star from me only because there is not a -10 star. We arrived around 7Pm and met up with family who were staying in another "cabin". When we dropped our luggage off my son remarked that someone had been smoking in the apartment. We went to dinner and played with granddaughters and went to our " cabin". It is NOT a cabin. My wife and daughter immediately complained about the smoke odor and we decided at 9:30 at night that We were not willing to stay there and "make do". We called Sally and were informed that we were responsible for the rent and she would hold us to it. We told her we we were going to the Holiday Inn down the road. She had two other cabins that were vacant for two nights ( we had reservations for three nights). Sally would not rent us the other vacant cabins at the same rate we had agreed upon for the smokey one. We caved in because of the late hour and the hassel of moving down the road. She continually assured us that o one had ever smoked in her cabins! Besides all of that the water in this vacation rental complex would "gag a maggot" ! A civilized human being could not possibly brush teeth or drink coffee here. We had to buy jugs of water for everything and then, guess what?...NO recycling! My recommendation is to stay away from these folks. They are not customer friendly and they are not ethical, honest or respectable! read more

We loved our stay at On the lake. We had no incidences of any pet waste like the last review, but we did notice a little pet smell in one room. That's not really surprising to me since it was a pet friendly cabin. After all, sometimes my dogs feet smell up my place to! Having said that the hot water tank went out the first day, and it was fixed immediately. Since they had a fenced in cabin that was unoccupied they actually let us run our two 50 pound dogs on that property! How nice! They also gave us a third night add on for half price. Keeping customer service in mind, I'll give these cottages 4 stars. I would choose another cabin rental if I didn't have my dogs with me BUT with my pups this place is first pick. read more

Worst vacation rental of my life - complete dump bordering on uninhabitable. We arrived at old log on the lake on Thursday paid our $420 for two nights and moved our stuff in. We spent most of the first hour outside which, to be fair, was as advertised, it was in fact on the water. Once we went inside, it was pretty clear that the place was not cleaned very well. There was dust everywhere, it had a rank smell of mustiness like an animal cage. I tried to get my girls (9 & 11) to go along with it saying we would just stay for one night then head over to Columbus or something. About 1 hour into our stay inside the cabin, my daughter started coughing uncontrollably - probably from us sitting and getting up on the sofa cushions and kicking up years of dust, dander, pet hair, and whatever else. We could not stay so we left and stayed at a hotel in Columbus. I called sally back the next day and told her we just couldn't stay there, and tried to negotiate a partial refund, she offered to refund the $35 that she pays for cleaning the cabin, but I never got it. I have since called the health department on this location - I was so disappointed in the cabin and the way I was treated. My hope was to at least get this catastrophe of a vacation rental on the record as not appropriate for all esp kids or those who may be susceptible to dust, dander, animal odor etc... The whole experience was pretty sad and $420 down the drain to boot. read more

We stayed at one of the cabins with two adults and four children we paid 220 plus dollars per day. The place is disgusting there are carpets in the bathrooms the interior doors are all sticky the bathroom door didn't close at all the place smells like pets the lighting is poor the owners we're kind of creepy the guy kept coming around. The pillows blankets we're old everything there was old and smelly. They were two TVs, the one on the main floor was ringing. They're only two channels. It's just a disgusting place I will never stay thete with kids again we left early in middle of the night just to get away from there. read more

Door doesn't lock easily Felt like I could break key off Everything was kinda ghetto. One of the beds in the living room had no sheet. All beds had miss matched hodgepodge sheets and blankets. In general it was crowed furniture everywhere. Upon entry the place smelled nice. But we sat on striped couch and it smelled horrible. The other couch has a big giant tear in the top back The shower was awful the head was jetting out of the was. Exposing the pipe fittings. The tub/shower surround was a series of sliced plastic vinyl pieces. Looks awful. Kitchen area: the fridge has a huge gap in the door seal. The appliances are very outdated. Can opener was bad had to use old fashioned one that make janky cuts in metal. The big one in this area was the dish soap was terrible. It would create suds and cut grease. Therefore leave it impossible to get dishes clean for the victims aka per duped into rent this loft. To end this review there was also a $23 dollar fee (10%) card fee. So we luckily paid cash. That's ridiculous. The owner should be up to times. Credit cards are normal esp when booking a place to stay. Over all I feel that they are cutting lots of corners to keep cost down but not keeping up with the place. It felt very cheap. read more

Our cottage was very clean and well maintained. Some of the reviews on this web site almost made me not stay here but I'm so glad I went with my instinct and booked it. The only review that was right was the comments about the water pressure but most people know when you have a well you don't have to best water pressure. read more

We arrived at the cabin (Loft on the Hill) kinda late and had trouble finding it but upon first glance, we thought it was very cute. Decorations were flowery and country which isn't our style but very quaint. Then we started to notice a smell...of something awful. We looked and looked and finally found the source of the stench. Dog shit! There was a huge pile sitting on a rug by the entrance of the cabin. I tried to help clean it up but couldn't stop gagging so my boyfriend was stuck picking it up. I don't think I've ever smelled anything more disgusting! We let the owner know because the rug was left in pretty bad shape (someone had stepped in it and smeared the pooh) and we didn't want her to think that it was our dog. It was a stressful start to what we were hoping would be a relaxing weekend. The next morning, upon waking, we heard squealing coming from the kitchen area. I think it was mice and my boyfriend thinks a squirrel. Either way, it was kind of unsettling but we laughed about the absurdity of it and didn't make a big deal. Next, he took a shower and realized that there was only one towel and the one we did get was as thin as a rag. We also found it odd that there was a coffee pot, coffee filters, cream and sugar but no coffee. We were in a hurry to get to Old Man's Cave so we didn't call Sally until we got back. When I did call (to get towels), I mentioned a few other things (no functioning remote for tv for example) that would be cool to get if they were dropping off towels. She kept cutting me off and trying to get me off the phone. Not cool. The maintenance guy did come and bring towels and actually went to the store to get us a remote and a safety lighter (the unit had some candles but the wicks were too low to light) which he really didn't have to do so that was very nice. I do appreciate that we were able to find a place to stay on such short notice (we called on Friday for a reservation on Friday) but after staying here I understand why it was available. I wish I had seen the other reviews before booking a "cabin" here, since we had the same experiences. We chose A Stone's Throw initially, but when we were told we needed to stay for three nights instead of two since it was a holiday weekend (which is standard---no problems there), we asked to switch to a less expensive property. The owner said it was fine, she'd make the switch. Well, she didn't. The week of our stay, we got a reminder e-mail that said we were still at the more expensive property. She wouldn't give us the lesser price, even though it was her fault, but she waived the $13/night fee for our kids to stay. At least it was something, and it was convenient to the location of the wedding we were attending. When we got there, it wasn't a cabin or a cottage, but a double-wide trailer. The pictures were a LOT cuter than the place actually was. It was a place I would have driven by and said, "Ugh, who lives there?" We could have dealt with that, I guess, if the inside was nice, but there was more wrong with the place than right. The living room was covered in pet hair---fine, white hair, probably from a cat. We couldn't put our baby down to crawl around, and we didn't feel comfortable sitting on the furniture. I mean, we have pets at home, too, but our house isn't covered in hair. I wouldn't expect a rental property to be. I even vacuumed, but it didn't help much. The first night, the temperature in the place went down to 50*; the second night it was 60*. We had to pull the baby in bed with us because she was too cold. The beds weren't comfortable, and we had to scour the house to get enough of the flat pillows they had to make a decent stack to sleep on. The shower was pitch dark inside, and it was way too short to shower comfortably in. The edges of the tub were really grimy---I didn't feel comfortable bathing my kids in there. We also didn't feel really safe there. There was no deadbolt on the front door, and there were patio doors leading to the room where the baby was sleeping. It was the only room that would fit her pack and play, so we had few options. It felt like we had to sleep with one eye open (although it's not like we got great sleep there, anyway). When I stay in a rental property, I expect it to be taken care of well. I'd have rather brought camping gear and camped out somewhere. At least I'd have known what I was getting. Upon checkout, I told the owner about some of the problems, and she was completely unapologetic. She said we should have called about the heater, but clearly we had it on the wrong setting (according to her). Yes, it's clearly MY fault your property is lousy. We had it on a setting that should have worked; if the settings need to be a certain way, then put it in the info booklet. She had been nice on the phone during the booking process, but on checkout she was less than hospitable. Do NOT stay at one of these cabins! read more

We stayed at the Cottage by the lake with 3 bed 1 bath. First, let me preface this by saying I am sure there is a type of person who would love this cottage and this cottage could be a great getaway...just not in its current state. The cottage is decorated in attempted "shabby chic." Except that it all looks like it came from someone's garage sale and is deplorably kept up. Because of the state of all the furniture and decorations, the cabin also has a horrible musty smell that sticks to your clothes. The water is well water and it also smells. We were unable to even brush our teeth with it. Did you notice the bathroom was not pictured in the lovely video? That's because its tiny and dirty and would scare away even the most adventurous traveler. We saw no less than 10 living spiders inside the cottage, countless ants and cobwebs. The banister leading to the basement room was unstable and hazardous. The house was not dusted or vacuumed or perhaps even cleaned before our arrival, as the mirrors were covered in dust and the couches were covered in dog or cat hair. The outside area was also unusable; the hot tub and patio furniture looked as if they had never been cleaned in their lifetimes, the umbrella had 3 spiders webs and a wasps nest growing in it. The sad thing is it would take so little to make this place decent; buy an air freshener, a 2.99 clear shower curtain liner, a new shower caddy, new white sheets, and some basic care for the property and it would be a decent place to stay. The lack of effort put forth is appalling. And on top of that is the price. This was not a cheap place to stay and they charged us an "extra adult" fee, despite only having 4 people in the 3 bedroom cottage. There were enough beds to accommodate 7-10 people. Insane. We stayed at Old Log on the Lake cabin.... This is a GREAT CABIN if you like dungeon style accommodations.. It is VERY DARK,DANK AND MUSTY (our 3.5 yr old granddaughter was scared to even enter). There is no overhead lighting except over kitchen counter and the rest are small lamps. The interior is decorated at what would best be described as "roadside trash day remnants". A worn out couch, broken down tv center, warped pans and chairs that have seen better years are your visuals. There were ants EVERYDAY on the bathroom vanity/sink (as well as in the floor in living room which had pieces of floor missing and covered with a throw rug), the shower stall has quite a bit of mold and the water is hard with poor pressure. The door could not be opened or closed easily due to sagging/expansion (had to yank extremely hard to open and slam and tug with additional effort to close) and a misaligned storm door was a hassle. The gate to the yard is in similar disrepair and the gravel/stone walk path is VERY slippery when wet/damp. The driveway entrance is, in our opinion, extremely hazardous. It drops off entering it off the road and overgrown shrubbery blocks your view trying to enter the roadway... The hot tub worked fine but there was gritty material laying on the bottom and felt like it had not been properly cleaned in a while. On the upside, the owner (DAVE) was very nice and the property was right on the lake, it was local to a lot of restaurants (PIZZA CROSSING was recommended by Sally(owner) and she was spot on. AWSOME pizza), and local towns and caves/trails are very accessible. But, for the average day rate we paid ($200.00) we would absolutely NOT recommend or return. So, if you are considering this cabin, please reread the comments of others and make a wise decision (We wish we had done so). We have vacationed in this area many times and have never been this disappointed with the accommodations. read more

We booked the Old Log on the Lake. OMG what a dump. For this price point we expected a clean cabin and a place we could cook dinner in. It is dark, creepy, dirty, dingy, moldy, and a total rip off. In the small print they charge a 10% premium to use a credit card. These people are slum lords of the vacation rental business. read more

Wasn't sure that we had even arrived at the right place based on photos on the website that were easily ten years old. The entire "cabin" was covered in vines. Dangerously so, as I am 5'11" and got clotheslined each time I stepped off the patio. After shouldering into the door we got it open (sounded like a dungeon) only to be greeted by... Darkness. There were lights on but you couldn't tell. We quickly turned on every light we could find, there were many, to be able to unpack. I gagged on the overpowering smell of odoban. I work in a kennel so I'm familiar with the smell. So it essentially smelled of wet dog, mustiness, and eucalyptus. Once we'd settled in we noticed right off the remotes either didn't work or were missing, the DVD player skipped or stopped completely, the stereo didn't work, the turntable in the microwave didn't work, half the burners on the stove were gone, half the lights were broken, one of the TVs only played one station, the hot tub was scaly and the jets didn't work. It was also too hot at 115+ degrees to use. My father sent an email complaining and the owner showed up with a remote (didn't work), a DVD player that we had to set up (we didn't), and a stereo (didn't work). Then they showed up three days into our stay to mow the yard. I told them everyone was sleeping and no. So they showed up the day before we were to leave to gather trash, shock the broken hot tub not that we were using it anyway, and mow the yard. Ahhhhhhh relaxing. All in all I found the place completely NOT AS ADVERTISED and overpriced. Plus to add fuel to the fire we didn't catch any fish!!!!!! read more

We just had a great stay at the Old Log on the Lake cabin for our son's 10th birthday. It was a very pet friendly location. Our dog loved running along the lake in a large fenced-in area. The owners were very nice and offered us an upgrade from the A Stone's Throw option that I originally booked. The three cabins (Old Log, On the Lake, and Cottage on the Lake) that we looked at were all very nice and were in a great location along the lake, near a small beach area, and near a boat rental area. We hiked to Ash Cave, Old Man's Cave, and Cedar Falls with our son and our dog and we had a great time. The area's welcome center, three nice restaurants, and the Hocking Hills Winery were all very close by. It was a perfect location for everything we wanted to do. The hot tub was also very nice. Please keep in mind that you are on the water in the country at a pet friendly cabin so everything will not be totally perfect like at an expensive 5-star resort. But we had a great time and the owners are very nice and they will work with you so you will have a fun stay. We will be going back to stay there again soon. Thanks Sally! read more

Everything is very nice including the beautiful scene and the dock for fishing . except you have to be prepared . I stayed at the one called "on the lake " this July . The water inside the house smells like nasty mud everyday for 3 days . None of us would want to shower or brush our teeth it smells so nasty. Hot tub is old and dirty. read more

Just got home from cottage on the lake after a 6 day vacation in paradise. It was our second trip there the first was for 3 days this year it was for 6 days. The property is amazing well maintained and cosy. Sally is awesome and so is her husband. The house was spotless pictures were exactly as advertised. It's pet friendly so I was able to bring my dog. We had no issues either time we stayed their and I can't wait to go back. I don't understand the poor reviews. After 2 wonderful visits I would recommend this property as the perfect vacation spot it's peaceful and quiet the lake beautiful. Keep up the good work Sally your the best read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at On the Lake for the weekend. I misread a coupon and Sally gave me a deal on the cottage anyway. She seemed very nice. I didn't go in with any huge expectations so I really wasn't disappointed. I was not expecting luxury and everything was clean. It was a cute little cottage. The water there is hard water, but I'm sure all the water is like that around that area. In the email before we came, Sally told us to bring towels so we were prepared for that. I also made sure to pay in cash so I would not be charged the extra 10%. We were only at the cottage in the evening and at night since we went hiking and fishing during the day. We also brought our own food, cooked out all weekend, made a bon fire, and hung out in the hot tub. The area felt safe as well. I had a great time in Hocking Hills. read more

We were unfortunate enough to spend a weekend in the Stones Throw "cabin" and were disappointed to say the least. This place is an absolute dump that was completely misrepresented on the website. It was very rundown and dirty, and it was obvious the property was in desperate need of a good cleaning and maintenance. We felt completely unsafe in this trailer as there were several code and safety violations. The hot tub was only a two person and was very unappealing. The grill that was included was so small that we couldn't use it for our party of four. Luckily there was a grate that was included to go over the fire pit to cook on. All of this was somewhat tolerable until we got to the bathroom. The shower curtain and walls were dirty and mildew ridden. The shower head was about four and a half feet up the wall. That, combined with a lack of water pressure made it impossible to get an adequate shower after a long day of hiking! Words cannot express how disappointed we are with our experience. We've been to the Hocking Hills area several times and have always enjoyed our time at other cabins we've stayed in. It's very unfortunate that we wasted our time and hard earned money on this place. At almost $200 per night, the owner should feel absolutely ashamed of herself for allowing her guests to stay in rental properties that are in such deplorable condition and that are completely misrepresented on her website! read more

We had reserved a property from these owners and two weeks later found all these horrible reviews on the properties and the owners. So I emailed them and politely canceled our reservation 8 weeks in advance~! They then tried to charge us a cancel fee~! I had already canceled my card because I assumed from the reviews that they would pull something like that. Just beware if you dare to stay there. This was by far the worst vacation stay I've ever had. It is false advertising for a stones throw away, this IS NOT a cabin or cottage!! It is a trashy mobile home that smells like mold and mildew. It is dusty and cob webs everywhere. All the furniture is falling apart and the beds are so uncomfortable. Now Keep in mind we are not the type of people who get upset easily and we were looking for a deal. We paid 89 a night for this place for two people. We were not expecting the RITZ by any means. So first impression- not too bad tucked back so there is some privacy and enough room for our dogs to run. Called the owner sally and she seems super nice and inviting. I advised we would pay cash since we did not want to pay the 10% extra, so she advised her husband would come get the cash. Which he was there in less than 5 min upon speaking with him we advised we may have friend meeting us out but we are not positive if they can make it so he advised about the additional fee if and only if they SPENT the night. We agreed and went about our day. Well our last day there my grandmother (who lives about an hour away) came down to show us some cool places. She and her husband came in for about 5 min to use the restroom and we left. They dropped us off at the end of the drive that night and went home. Our friend later confirmed and came out and arrivedI'm around midnight. So we had our money ready to pay the additional fee the next day. Well Sally's husband comes knocking at the door at 8 am demanding we pay 100 dollars extra for guests. We advise him we knew we had to pay 50 for our two friends who stayed the night but the other we would not pay and advised him of why. He was okay with that and took the money and left. As we were later packing sally was sitting in her vehicle watching us for about 30-45 min waiting for us to leave. We felt so rush and panicked at this point and got out as soon as we could. We were so uncomfortable at the way they watched this place and just showed up without a phone call, it is rude and completely invading of privacy. We will NEVER rent from them again! read more

This year we decided it would be fun to take a small vacation to Hocking Hills and bring our 2 dogs along. Lets just say there are not to many affordable pet friendly cabins. After searching the web we decided on the Stagecoach cabin at Lake Logan. I liked the fact that they only charge 25 bucks for up to 3 dogs and not 30 per dog that the others charged. We got to the stagecoach and I was very content and pleased. While this is not a Hilton hotel it was very cozy and our dogs felt at home here. We had A/C...a huge hot tub, cable/DVD player, fireplace, and everything else that we needed for a nice stay. Only issue that may need addressed is a new mattress in the one bedroom as it sinks a little in the middle. The Next day we did unfortunately encounter a problem with our hot water tank. Sally was quick to respond and offered us the use of the large fenced in yard at one of their other unoccupied cabins so we could run the dogs while they fixed our tank. They said if they couldn't fix the tank they would move us to that larger cabin with no extra cost for us. They did fix the tank promptly. We asked if we could stay another night and instead of the 110/night fee only charged us 75 bucks which was very nice. So it's not an extravagant cabin but if you have pets and are on a budget I would recommend Lake Logan Cabins. I'm excited to return and rent again. Friendly owner and staff. I felt they made all necessary info available on the website for people to read. Ps....there also is a tasty BBQ restaurant called Millstone BBQ which let us bring our dogs with us to the patio and supplied a big bucket of ice water for them to drink. read more
