They have a restroom, shower, and complimentary laundry facility while you stay. The park is walking distance to the beach - a huge bonus. They have a covered area to hang out in, and there has been a few small gatherings with music from other campers to end a great beach day. Everyone is respectful of quiet hours and each others belongings. We couldn't imagine our beach vacation anywhere else!

Soon as she saw my husband the first day we moved in, she stared at him with confusion and a look of disgust. She followed him all the way around an rv-- practically running! Even almost tripped and fell over the rocks trying to get to him. Shouting at him, "hey! Hey!" "Who are you? What are you doing here??" He looked at her in a total state of shock. She then says, "are you Rae's guest?" He said yes, and she promptly walked off. I guess she realized how bad it came off but didn't bother to apologize, instead just turned around & said "oh we just didn't know who u were". The next day she emails me about how there's no cussing around here because this is a family park. And no smoking in the rv. And no downloading movies illegally because she got a message from the internet provider saying someone was streaming or downloading movies illegally. ???? Ok so a couple hours after the emails, then she has 2 guys knock on the rv I was renting saying they needed to come in asap and log out of netflix and other streaming accounts- which was fine because I had nothing to hide Few days later she yells at my husband that he needs to ride his bike a certain way to follow the traffic of the park. We have no problems following rules and we remained respectful no matter how rude and snarky she was. One day my daughter mistakenly called 911 on my phone and I called back and said hey I apologize my daughter was messing around on the phone. But officers showed up just to check and when I opened the door to apologize and explain, she was right outside with her hand on her hips like she was waiting for something crazy to pop off. She then emailed me and said if cops were called again, that she would be kicking us out. Couple days later, My husband had a bad accident on an e-bike, and was bleeding from his face and all over his body. while walking back to the rv he was telling me what happened on the phone before he came in. She saw him outside in this condition and insisted of having any compassion or concern, proceeded to email me AGAIN telling me that he was cursing and shouting about how he got hit by a car and needs to watch his mouth! about 3 weeks in she told me that the owners did not want to continue renting the rv. That I needed to find a place to live within the next week or 2. Mind you, me and this lady talked for weeks before I moved in. She knew my situation, we have 3 babies, had an accident causing us to lose our vehicle, jobs and our house. We were living in hotels before I found this rv park. She had so much compassion and was super friendly over the phone before seeing us in person. She told me that we could rent an rv for a few months and even promised me that an even bigger rv was coming and we could move into it when it comes so we could be more comfortable. What a joke! Thank God we found a house and got our jobs back that same week!!! I've seen the other poor reviews, how quick she responds. Me knowing how rude and prejudiced she is, I can almost hear the sarcasm in her responses. Sadly she seemed very sweet and maybe she would've been if we didn't look "out of place" maybe? I'm not oblivious. I know I have tattoos from my face to my feet. And my husband is African American with dreads. We might've not fit in. But we stayed to ourselves and we did not bother anyone. Someone there told me that she's notorious for her emails and they believe that she is racist because they overheard her at the hot tub making racist jokes with her friends. But I won't expose their identity as they are still currently a resident. Also just to add, the men staff were not rude at all. They almost seemed apologetic for her ugly nasty behavior. My husband being a black man knew the prejudiced vibe right from day one. She did nothing but confirm this the entire stay.

Pools nice clean with plenty of lounge chairs. Close to stores and restaurants, beach directly across the street. There is a nice comfy king size bed, full size appliances and full size W/D a definite plus:) Will definitely recommend and rent here again when visiting the area.

The Bolivar Peninsula and beach area reminds me so much of trips in my youth to the beach where we…read moredrove on to the beach to pick our spot. Not too many beaches left where they let you do that anymore but Bolivar is one of them. The peninsula is narrow and long with the main road going from the ferry terminal at the mouth of Galveston Bay to High Island. Used to go all the way to Port Arthur but with many big storms it washed away and they decided it wasn't worth rebuilding. I go down there mainly to take pictures of birds, there is a good variety; mostly shore birds like gulls, plovers, avocets and skimmers. The far west end is now a bird sanctuary owned by the Audubon society. You do need a beach pass on your windshield or your risk getting a ticket. Stop at any convenience store along 87 and get one, they are $5 during January and February and the price increases to $10 after that.

They do have water and sewer hookups along with electric hookups so that part is solid. The downside for me was the upkeep. The showers had hair on the walls and mucus on the floor that looked like it had not been cleaned in a while and one of the bathrooms was missing a hook so there was nowhere to hang a towel or any clothes. They have a little bench inside but it's hardly big enough to put much on. I am not sure if they leave the doors open at night but every morning when I went to shower I was killing mosquitoes and other bugs. They advertise a convenience store but I never saw it open once. They have a laundry area and they offer wifi but the wifi was not great. Anytime I have to switch over to my cellular data that tells me the wifi is not doing much. The gentleman running the place also was not very friendly or helpful. With a little more attention and care it could honestly be a decent spot. It is just not really a place for kids because there is no pool or playground, just RV stalls, a picnic table and the building for showers, laundry and restrooms. Pretty basic overall.

We wanted to do something special with just us and Avenue O was the perfect choice! Polly and Jeff were absolute pleasures to work with! This historic home was so charming and cozy. I loved how beautifully it was decorated with a coastal theme. I loved all the beachy touches from the artwork, light fixtures, colors, furniture, etc. Everything was so elegant. We stayed in the Seawall Suite which is the largest room. It has a nice balcony as well. It was also decorated beautifully like the rest of the house. It was very cozy and comfortable. We chose to get married in the backyard near the gazebo. It was perfect. It was just my husband and I, Polly, Jeff and Heidi of course. Heidi actually walked me to the gazebo as if she was walking me "down the aisle." It was adorable! She's the Yorkie in the photos. Our ceremony was quick and intimate. Jeff did an excellent job and made us feel at ease as if we were just hanging out with friends. Not only is Polly an amazing decorator, she is also a very talented cook. She even made us a wedding cake! It was very pretty and so delicious!! I believe she said it was an Amaretto buttercream with strawberry filling. It was sooooooooo amazing!! In the morning, she made us an incredible homemade breakfast! It started off with yogurt parfaits and fresh granola. Yum! Then there were mini pumpkin pancakes, fresh potatoes, bacon and scrambled eggs. The bacon was so yum. It tasted like a maple-peppered bacon but I'm not sure what it was. All I know is it was awesome! Our wedding package was so reasonably-priced. We didn't have to do anything except pay and show up. Polly took care of the rest. We just can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Polly is so great at taking care of people. She and Jeff were both fantastic hosts. If you're ever in Galveston, I would highly recommend staying with them instead of at a hotel. You won't regret it!!
