An exceptional suburban sushi experience. Ordered through door dash: tuna tartare, tuna sashimi, and dragon roll. It came on time and everything was correct. Tuna tartare doesn't look like it did in picture, instead it was very mashed tuna in heart shape topped with some sauce and orange fish eggs. Sashimi was good - 3 pieces, dragon roll was just ok - the crunchy exterior wasn't crunchy at all. I'd order again for a quick & cheap meal; it's good for the price and it's close to home. I placed an order via DoorDash at 6:07pm. The order was estimated to be ready between 6:55-7:00 pm. I got to the restaurant at 6:47 in anticipation of the order being done....it wasn't. I waited until 7:10 and then went inside when I noticed the restaurant was practically empty. The hostess asked how she could help. I showed my DoorDash order and she went to go check. She came back and said they had a lot of Door Dash orders and my food would be ready in a few minutes. I went back to my car and waited until 7:25. Came to Atami one more time. I was the only customer, ordered hibachi chicken received hibachi chicken mixed with shrimp. I told him I'm allergic to shrimp. The menu says meals come with appetizer shrimp which is why I explained I did not want the appetizer. Server who was also a manager aggressively took the plate and started to speak in his language. I waited for quite some time when I asked how much longer. He never put another order for me. He literally said "that's not my problem" I have never experienced such awful service and I was nice & cordial about it. I understand mistakes can happen. I was in disbelief how I was treated. Tried out Atami a couple of times now. The space has a cool vibe to it, especially for being in such a small space. Service has always been friendly. Unfortunately, the food itself is very mediocre and overpriced. We've had both hibachi and sushi. Hibachi was certainly nothing to write home about...decent, at best. Sushi is very overpriced with small amounts of not very good rice. Nigiri really highlighted the shortcomings of the rice whereas the sushi rolls were very small in diameter. The 372 roll was pretty good but, at $13 from a strip mall sushi joint, it's better be good. I'll go back in a pinch for takeout but only if I'm pressed for time and have a hankering for sushi that must be fed. read more

They recently had to remodel due to a fire next door. Food and service is fantastic! If you have any issues or want food customized for you they do it. Deliveries are done by Uber eats and grub hub so you can't complain to them about what the delivery guy does. I highly recommend the lunch bento box. First ..... their food was wonderful. Second......the service was deplorable. Evidently we (party of seven) had a new server and she just couldn't get our orders straight....kept coming back to our Hibachi table to clarify.....two of us didn't get our white rice until we had finished our meal, one of us didn't get his appetizer until he was just finishing his meal and one didn't get his order (Filet Mignon with Shrimp) as ordered....only got his shrimp then at the end, he got his Filet. We all paid ... took a snap shot of our receipt (lucky we did). Checked on the way home and charges has already hit the credit union. Checked Saturday, charges were "gone"....same on Sunday. Monday checked and charges were back with an additional $10.00 which is fraud. The party of seven will not return..... Via a telephone conversation, the $10.00 is being returned to the credit card....we shall see.... The $10.00 WAS reimbursed.... read more

I have to say that i was happy with the service i received. I had my apprehensions about trying this place out from its yelp rating but I try to give every place a try at least once. i have a habit of checking out the sushi on display before seating and it looked fresh. I couldn't quite tell if it was fresh fresh or previously frozen...but we are in GA so i assume most places are previously flash frozen. The waitress i had was attentive friendly and I had no problem communicating with her. i have had more trouble with some of my american southerners than the lovely lady that helped me. All in all i liked it! Its not the Best Ive ever ever had in life...but Tasted delicious to me... I am a fan of the rainbow roll.. and it was as good as some places i've eaten at in Cali...not all but better than many. If you don't feel like driving to barret parkway i think this is a good spot... but that's just my opinion read more

Went into this place with 2 other customers in the place. Decided to try this place over my favorite given that it was the birthday of a friend who wanted to go here. The first problem was our waitress. She did not speak English very well and we had to work to get across what we were ordering. While I am not against someone trying to better themselves, if you are going into a service industry job such as waiting tables, you should have a somewhat good grasp on the language and be able to converse with customers at a level where taking orders isnt hard or complicated for either of the parties involved. The sushi was just ok. Some of the rolls were good and had some pretty fresh tastes so +1 on that but the service really left something to be desired. I ordered 1 roll (Milton Roll) and 10 pieces of dollar sushi. The Milton roll came out first and I enjoyed it, but then had to wait 15 - 20 minutes more for my nigiri sushi. When it arrived it was small and felt kind of limp. The rice fell apart as soon as it hit the soy sauce and the fish on top of the nigiri was about half the size of the normal dollar sushi I am used to at Kuroshio (my fav sushi place). All in all, I dont think I would go back given what I experienced tonight. read more

Very nice server, the establishment seems clean as well, my table wasn't sticking to my arm, as we have all had happen somewhere. We did like the Hot Hot Roll ? I think is what it may have been. Spicy tuna, yellowfin, jalapeno, and two drops of sauce, pretty. My husbands order fell apart, and was soggy by end of the meal-just not a sushi texture i like. Ok first a short intro....I recently moved to the Acworth area after spending most of my life in California (most recently the bay area) where cultural cuisine is widely varied, easy to find and often hard to beat. Ok on to the review: Environment- wasnt too bad minus of course the peeling wallpaper, swarms of flies near our table and low lighting hiding Lord knows what else. Food- We each got a Bento lunch box and then a Philly roll to share. House Soup which was supposed to have 3-4 vegetables in it came with one mushroom and two scallions floating in it, at least it was tasty. Salad was your usual sushi place salad (iceburg lettuce and ranch dressing). California Roll fell apart before I could get it from the plate to the soy sauce. Bento Box came with 2 gyozas,a spring roll, soup or salad, 4 pc of CA roll, and main dish ( We had shrimp Tempura and Chicken Katsu). Service-Here is the kicker, my waitress spilled my tempura sauce as she put my lunch box down. The sauce went all over everything in the box and all over me, my dress, and my cellphone. I then had to ask for extra napkins as I sopped up the sauce from my dress, cellphone, and body parts. She asked if I wanted her to redo it, which I declined mostly because I wanted to finish my meal sooner rather than later. We didnt see that waitress again- as in she switched with the other waitress! Call me crazy but I figured after she spilled my sauce all over everything including me I would at least get a discount on my meal- nope..... Fantastic! I eat here on a regular basis because these people take care of their customers. This place is above the run of the mill typical sushi places in that these people genuinely try to take the best care of you possible. My drink is never empty, my belly is always full. The sushi is extremely fresh, some of the better sushi i'd ever tasted in my life, promptly made and some times the chief will make something special on the house. These rolls are fresh and not over crowed with rice like many sushi bars are doing these days. The hibachi chiefs are phenomenal, it seems like they have years of experience and the quality of the meat is exceptional. I am never disappointed when eating here because everything is enjoyable. This sushi and steak house is also very clean, I watch all the servers move to clean a table off together as a team, and love how quick yet throughly they work. The bathrooms are very clean and nicely decorated as well. All in all 5 stars, next time your in the area and hungry for sushi, maybe i'll see you there. read more

DoorDash had a glitch but he wasn't trying to let me explain and instead proceeded to cuss me out. So, in defense, I cussed him back out. I have never been treated that poorly in my entire life over a misunderstanding. Very pleasantly surprised. Lunch on 3/28 at 115pm for two at a table. Sashimi, some sushi and tuna tataki all were well proportioned and perfectly chilled. Wife commented the tempura plate had a little to much fried stuff. Service was spot on and I gave the Sushi chef an extra five$ because the cuts were perfect and well priced. I'm meeting friends there on Friday for lunch and will update again. The only negative is was the rice was not quite as sticky as my wife likes, but overall I'd say improving from the 2015 reviews. read more

Food had NO flavor - hibachi chicken was plain grilled with no sauce or seasonings at all. It's like they grilled chicken breasts in back and threw my order together - it was NOT done hibachi style!
