We had a disappointing experience. We went for my daughter's birthday and even though this was noted on the reservation, no one acknowledged this at the restaurant. The fried mozzarella was overcooked as was the grouper for my picatta. It was just a completely different experience than what we had come to enjoy in years past and not in a good way.

You can find Doro's Italian Restaurant at 3979 S Main St Ste 250 Acworth, GA 30101 - it's near the entrance of a street with a row of shopping on either side in a fairly new development. There's plenty of parking as you drive down the street with some overflow to the left (I think it's a church parking lot but seemed to be unoccupied the Thursday night we visited). The interior features an open kitchen to the right from the main entry with a dining room extending back beneath Italianate archways. There's philodendron emerging on the right that trails up across the ceiling of the main dining room. The menu offers up most of what you would expect from a classic Sicilian restaurant from pizzas to pastas with a few variations thrown in. Prices seemed fairly reasonable. Once seated we were told that garlic knots were on the way - these are baked pizza bread style with crusty surfaces and chewy interiors - the garlic was fairly mild so not quite what you would get a Ippolito's but still very satisfying with the spicy marinara. We were told they had two sauces available, a rich tomato and a spicy marinara - it was indeed spicier than I had anticipated, but also a bit sweet - it do go perfectly with the garlic knots. For dinner we split an order of spaghetti and meatballs (with marinara) and Caesar salads. The salads came with dressing on the side - first time I've received it this way without asking (normally it's dressed prior to being delivered). You get three fairly large meatballs with the spaghetti which was perfectly al dente. The spicy marinara which went perfectly with the knots registered as a bit too sweet on the pasta - go figure. The meatballs were perfect - nice meat blend, juicy yet thoroughly cooked. Service was very good with frequent visits by our server. In all a very pleasant experience and quite satisfying.

My daughter's cheese pizza looks great however you all may want to rethink the salmon on the menu. I ordered two. The salmon is overcooked and saturated in a gravy like flavorless sauce? This is a miss. I didn't expect an amazing salmon from an Italian restaurant but definitely did not expect this. See photo. ...I had to throw away and share my daughter's pizza.

Friends think I'm kidding when I say my favorite Italian restaurant -- at least in suburban Atlanta -- is Carrabba's. I'm not! People tend to favor what they knew from their childhood. Spoiled by delicious Italian restaurants in Brooklyn and Queens, I'm likely a tough critic. Doro's is well..... typical of what one gets here. Neither bad nor wonderful. They start you off with a basket of garlic rolls and marinara sauce. Eh. I prefer Italian bread with an olive oil and herb mixture. (Oh wait, that's Carrabba's!) Some dishes, like my husband's chicken valencia come with a side salad. Otherwise, order one a la carte. One large field green salad is plenty for three people to share. The only difference between chicken marsala and valencia is the latter has slices of Italian sausage. Both are okay, if not overly sauced (a common faux pas of local Italian-American restaurants.) The sauce is a bit sweet and the angel hair a bit limp. I prefer al dente. The ambience is fine, service -- at least Sunday between lunch and dinner -- excellent. I also like the wine list with several good choices priced below $30.

Not sure what happened but in 2024-present the food is not good. The service keeps getting slower and terrible. It took like 20 minutes for drinks to come out, an hour for the food. The crazy part the server didn't even bring any of it out, they have bus boys and food runners. My steak was so overcooked & raw at the same time. The steak was not cooked on the inside but you can see it was dark on the outside. The 9oz filet looked like it was 5oz. The pastas here are decent, but used to be Amazing. They never could get the steak right. I loved the caprese burrata salad it was refreshing and filling. This was the best appetizer. The calamari was bland and the scampi was so sour. The worst part for me was, They offered me a birthday dessert on the house. When it came no candles. They usually do for people, and even sing. Then he charged me for it. I also hated when the bill came the server circled the tip suggestions, like he demanded the tip. While we still tipped, I felt the service was very undeserving of 30%. He barely came to our table, when he did he kept gaslighting us into getting different meals. I wanted the rigatoni martino, but he kept insisting we order a more higher ticketed item. Our friend who was vegetarian wanted to get a regular plan pasta promodoro, but he insisted we get gluten free pasta for her with plain tomato sauce. He kept mixing vegetarian with vegan. She can have eggs and cheese. We didnt understand why she had to get gluten free plain pasta. Anyways I'm sorry I loved this place, but I don't think I will come again. Its just not worth it. We were there for 3hrs, the food wasn't good. In this economy I just can't waste money on bad food and bad service.

Saturdays are my Cheat Days, duly noted…read more Today, Friday, July 10, is my birthday and that means TWO CHEAT DAYS this week. Initially, I had this really good seafood restaurant in Marietta on my radar but I wanted to try something different. So, I Googled and Yelped, finding this place. Henry's Louisiana Grill. It's far, like crazy far from my home. It took a long while to get there. Like there was no McDonald's or Waffle House ANYWHERE!!  Not that I eat that stuff but you take my meaning. I got there, went to the hostess stand and was greeted warmly by two young ladies. They directed me to the bar, as I was taking it to go. Spain was playing Belgium at 3PM and I did not want to miss it  When I went over to the bar, I met this really cool Bartender Goddess named Julie. She could not have been more hospitable and cheerful. I placed my order with her and in about 15-20 minutes, my food was packed and ready to go. The time was not a problem; everything is made to order. What did I have? I ordered their hot chili gator for one and their Chef Henry's Seafood Platter. It was plenty and it was really good. As if I wasn't stuffed enough, I also had their bread pudding. There is something in the sauce, I was scraping the bowl and I never do that...LOL Moreover, the long drive was worth it.  Henry's Louisiana Grill definitely served a good birthday lunch/dinner. I enjoyed every bite and still have leftovers, even of that bowl-scraping bread pudding. Oh, Spain won, 2-1. Awesome!
