They got ATCO out and was told it was an issue with the motor. We were calling companies and most either were too busy to answer or weren't able to come out for at least 2-3 days. Well, just our luck that Furnace Solutions answered the phone and the guy I spoke with said they could get someone that evening to my parents' house. He got the information and when I got more information about the issue, I called back but received a full voice message. I sent a text with the information. It wasn't even the evening and my parents got a call that the tech would be arriving soon. Marty replaced the motor but advised a new furnace would be needed, which we agreed with. We knew the furnace was on its last legs and did not feel my parents were being told this for a sale of a new furnace. The sales guy, Jamie, called and said he could come that evening but we weren't able to meet him there so we arranged for a visit a few days later. That's job dedication he was willing to stop by on a Saturday evening! They are really great about calling if they are running late, or letting the customer know about what time they would be arriving. Jamie was a little later than the scheduled time but he called to let me know. He was friendly and asked questions and provided information. He showed us the Trane furnaces and the ones that he would recommend. The amount on the previous invoice from the motor replacement would be put towards the new total. It was also great they offered no tax for a senior's discount. They were initially going to come the next day to install the furnace but due to a personal issue, they came the following day. Not a big deal for us as a two day turn around is pretty good. I was not there on installation day but it seems they did a diligent job and removed the old furnace and installed the new one without any issues. I'm glad that we found a great company in a time of urgency when we just wanted any company to fix the issue so my parents would have heat during the cold snap. Would recommend this company and it's great they are 24 hours too!

When most companies would charge you ridiculous rates for calling a same day appointments as an emergency and overcharge for after hours, I was lucky to get a referral to Furnace Solutions and met Justin Jacobsen to fit me into his busy schedule and charge me a reasonable price for the service. I found their service to be honest and truthful and efficient, with the service I had received it was evident that they take and look after their customers. They are very helpful and concerned about their customers. I was always treated respectfully. They did a wonderful job reinstalling the pipes for the furnace. I now have no noise and can sleep at night. When they took the pipes out there was water in them. Will be referring them to everyone.

True North Heating and Cooling has been a gem to work with. Initially what started the summer…read morebefore, with a call about a noisy neighbour's a/c and what could be done to help dampen the sound, continued that positive experience into a great one to follow. Who wants to be without heat in the winters that we seem to have here, but kerplunk it did, the 'ol 21 year old Frigidaire furnace cracked its heat exchanger. With -30°C weather in the forecast, this was not ideal timing, but when is it ever? Anyway, Chris showed up as soon as he was able to look at what we needed to do for getting heat in the house again. The calculation was a little different than I expected, now they just look at the number and size of windows in the house rather than the size of the house. We also looked together at other issues that we were having like not enough heat pumping into the upstairs and downstairs and how the airflow could be improved. They gave us some time to think about our options and what we were going to do for the install... but they also didn't make us wait on their end. The pencilled in an install date for us so that we wouldn't have to wait. That was so appreciative. They dropped off some smaller space heaters and some larger ones that plugged into the 220V outlets. The rental ended up being free with the install. (But do watch your usage as they're going to chew into your electricity bill... if you have a gas fireplace, best to use that.) So install date came. We chose the Lennox Merit ML296, it is a two-stage rather than a variable stage, but still better than what we had. The furnace could not be vented out of the chimney anymore with the hot water tank, as per the new regulations, and now is vented out the side of the house. So be sure you keep that in mind as there's going to have to be some new pipes and drilling involved. They helped pick the best path for the new intakes and exhaust. One thing that was good was there was no more need for the combustion air intake of the house, so that huge source of cold air into our utility room was going away! They cut and blocked it off. Demolition happened in the morning. The two installers arrived on time. Note for anyone, if you can give them your garage as a staging area that will make things way easier for them. When they pulled out the old furnace it was very clear that the heat exchanger had a nice big hole with another one or two more on the way. Ugh. (See picture.) The new Lennox is a bit smaller than the old one, but they were still able to use the existing ducting by installing an extension. They repositioned the furnace and new filter system (we went for the Merv16 filtration system to take care of dust allergies) to point in a more accessible manor than the old one. In addition to the installation of the furnace I was surprised that they also went and improved the drainage system of my humidifier and the furnace with proper PVC piping rather than the hokey flexible tube it replaced. Way more professional! They carefully went onto the roof and dropped down a new inset in the chimney to allow the water heater to still vent properly and soon after, that afternoon, the new thermostat was installed. All of this was done with proper social distancing and precautions, yet at the same time were available for any of my constant questions or inquiries during the install. Part of the installation included a new thermostat to properly drive the new furnace. We requested an upgrade to the Honeywell T6 Pro Smart Thermostat WIFI (TH6220WF2006/U) and we couldn't be happier! We can now turn up and down the heat when we are away from the house or still in bed with the app or with Siri. With Apple HomeKit, we can set scenes to control it and our other devices. We like the touch display screen a lot better than the normal T6 Pro. It can even send you an alert if your house is too cold or hot. I recommend it. The next day involved opening up the return air on our main floor to allow for better circulation and the addition of a proper one into the basement. New ducting was put in and installed in a location that wouldn't impede the positioning of furniture. The downstairs is still cool, but it isn't freezing like it was before. One thing about the install I did have concerns about was the exhaust outlet, it was positioned at the level of our backyard access path on the side of the house and my boys bumping into it. It also was near where the window opened. I sent them some pictures about it a few weeks later and they happily agreed to put an extension on the pipe to raise it above both issue sources and insulated it from freezing. No charge for the adjustment! In all this was something that I didn't want to have to do... the roof was the one planned. But obviously it was something that we had to do and it was obvious we had to do it with True North Heating and Cooling. I wouldn't have done it any other way! He ended up contacting me to say he could come earlier in the day than originally planned if that was okay and I was anxious to get some heat happening ASAP so was grateful for that!! Yash was a very easy-going pleasant guy to deal with and ended up doing WAY more work than we originally talked about as he detected a carbon monoxide leak emitting from our hot water tank (luckily!), unbeknownst to us and proceeded to try and figure out and diagnose the problem of why it was happening, which obviously is a very serious thing!! Very soon he found the source of the problem, which was a collapsed air out-take vent in the chimney, so instead of the carbon monoxide, etc. venting out of the house, it was actually not able to because of the blockage and building up inside! He was able to fix the problem, clean and maintain the furnace, get the hot water tank and furnace working again as well as figure out our weird furnace fan that has continued (for many years now) to blow all day and all night even when the furnace isn't on....this is something we've gotten used to over the last 20+ years! We thought there wasn't anything we could do about it as no one else had ever mentioned that it wasn't really supposed to be like that! Well, he was able to sort this all out and figure out the problem and now it only comes on only when the heat comes on (which is what is supposed to happen!) and it is sooo quiet in our house now, it's unbelievable!! We can hear one another finally, so perhaps we won't be misunderstanding each other anymore!! HaHa We never realized just how noisy that was for all those years!! The sound of silence is just so...relaxing! He also made some recommendations on upgrading our thermostat at some point too and gave us many options and suggestions, which we probably will do; but in the meantime, we are BEYOND THRILLED with all the excellent work he did, the time he spent doing it and explaining to me throughout his time here what he was doing, letting me know if there'd be any additional costs right away for extra work, all the while being very respectful, pleasant and professional. We had decided to wait until morning and have Atco come out for free to see if they could help. They were able to tell us what was wrong and how to fix it but did not have the part. Ignite messaged me in the morning to see how we were doing! On a long shot I asked if they maybe had an extra part to sell us knowing that 1. It's New Year's Day there shop is not open 2. We were not getting them to put it in so why would they go the extra mile? Well they totally did above and beyond.They got us the part and then even met us at their shop. And by no means over charged for the parts either! I just feel that what a great company. We are not previous customers or even previous repair customers so I just felt like they didn't owe us anything but did us a huge one anyways. I would absolutely recommend this company. To top it off my hubby couldn't end up fixing the problem, not only did Dan troubleshoot with him by text for no charge, he did end up coming out. Then having to find parts at 9pm went back to the city and back out to our acerage to ultimately fix the problem for very reasonable charge for his service. We were happy to pay for all their help today! My hubby had tears in his eyes when he left that there are still good companies you can trust and that his family will be warm tonight.

I called them and the guy called me back within about 5 min (I think his name was Dan) he trouble shot it with me over the phone and we were able to determine it was likely than fan motor. He got the furnace model info from me and picked up the parts prior to coming. I had to wait a couple of hours as he was on another job, which was certainly reasonable. When he showed up he quickly determined the fan motor was indeed the problem and within about an hour my furnace was fixed and working again which was awesome. Trouble shooting it over the phone and bringing the parts likely needed saved a lot of time and a lot of my money. Not many companies would have done that. Ignite is great and has top shelf integrity. I'll never call anyone else for HVAC. Highly recommend calling these guys if you have any HVAC needs or emergencies.
