My gel manicure started peeling after only about six days. I called on the EIGHTH DAY after my appointment to let them know and ask for it to be redone. They told me they only guarantee gel manicures for one week. Fine, but I was calling literally one day after that period because the manicure had already started peeling before the week was even over. They offered to schedule the repair only if I came back within two weeks of my original appointment. I explained that I had meetings and could not make it within that specific timeframe, and asked to schedule it a little later. They refused and told me they would not fix it if the appointment was more than two weeks after my original service. How does that make any sense? I reported the problem immediately. The fact that I physically couldn't come in during their narrow timeframe somehow became my problem. What made it worse was the attitude. The woman kept saying she needed to speak with my technician and questioning everything in a way that made me feel like she thought I was lying. Over a $40 to $50 manicure? Seriously? A gel manicure should not start peeling after six days, and a loyal customer who reports the problem right away should not have to argue just to get it fixed. Nice technicians are great, but terrible customer service and refusing to stand behind your work will absolutely make customers go somewhere else.

She scrubbed the fuck out of my one leg and hardly scrubbed the other. All she did was slather my legs in a thick layer of lotion and barely rubbed it in. Then she asked if I wanted my toenails clipped. Duh? Of course I want them cut; they were long! I tell her yes. She clarifies. "Do you want me to cut them all the way down?" Yes. Please. I get home and feel pain in my toes. I look. She barely cut any of my nails off, and most she left most of my toes with sharp edges that were digging into my skin! I'm diabetic. I physically cannot afford to get foot injuries. So i had to cut my nails myself. Now everything looks like shit but at least I'm not in the running for multiple ingrown toes or in pain. These nail places rarely ever take accountability for their shortcomings and mistakes. Fuck this place.

I've been going to Athena's since they opened. Nothing is more relaxing than getting my pedicure and looking out at the water. It is in my neighborhood, so I walk there, but they do have a parking lot if you can't find a spot on the street. They have a great selection of polishes, regular and gel. You do have to call ahead for an appointment because they get busy. All of my nail techs have been great, but by making an appointment, I get my preferred nail tech, Kristy. I'm a talker and she and I always have nice conversations. She does a great job on my mani/pedi and does a kick ass French manicure too. I don't know where Susu, the owner, gets all of her energy. She is running the nail salon and just opened Saigon Today. How she runs around two establishments in those heels and always has a smile on her face, I don't know, but it makes me want to support her businesses. She also cares about making the customer and neighborhood happy. So if you have an issue or concern, let her know and she will take care of it. For these reasons, I will keep coming back. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR LASHES DONE HERE. I went for months and then I started to get a reaction. I went to have them remove the lashes but even the lash tech couldn't get half of them off because she used so much glue. I went to another lash tech who spent 2.5 HOURS removing my lash extensions and they still weren't fully off (lash removal should take a max of 30 mins). I left with many gaps in my lash line due to the tech at Athena nails not allowing them to regrow and GLUING NEW LASHES ONTO MY EYELIDS. I haven't had lashes for a solid month or month and a half and my lashes are still not fully better. The same lash tech who finally removed most of the extensions noticed that on top of my gaps, SOME OF MY NATURAL LASHES HAVE BEEN CUT due the the Athena nail lash tech not being able to remove the lash extensions. Whatever you do please please do not make yourself go through what I did. Multiple people have told me they've had horror stories from the place as well. read more

Important bullets: -Superior Cleanliness -Charismatic and Accommodating staff -Highly skilled technicians (who are highly creative artists) -Extremely reasonable prices You can't beat this salon experience they offer beverages to include wine while you experience relaxing massages with you pedicure and I can I'm with an idea and she took it and made it 300x better. My technician was Susu and she was extremely creative and accommodating and the other technicians were also all delightful and engaging. It was a surreal and enjoyable and I went in honestly stressed out and irritable but I left supremely happy and with the best nails. I have been coming here for almost as long as they have been open and figured it was time for me to write a review. This place has such an awesome selection of colors in gel and regular in the top brands from OPI to Essie to Shellac and many other long-wearing brands. They have a nice list of pedicures that are competitively priced as well. I have tried a few technicians here but I have made Kristy my go to girl. She has been working on me for about a year and half now and it seems like I'm sitting with a friend. She cares about the work she produces and pays great attention to detail. I also love her because she doesn't take forever to get me done, I love having my nails done, just hate sitting through it. She is also an eyebrow queen! So so so disappointed in this place. My fave tech left to a shop further away than I wanted to drive so I figured I'd stick around and try a new technician. Big mistake! I was seated quickly for my pedicure and was told it would be a couple of minutes. 35 minutes later a female technician finished her client and came and sat in front of me. Same tools she had just used on the client prior to me were placed in front of me and they still had her flesh on them! And she didn't even wash her hands. I was beyond disgusted, but I needed my toes done as I was going out of town, and I also wanted to see if she would dare to use the same unsterilized tools on me. She attempted to do so and I told them nevermind, and I dried my feet and left. This shop has been going downhill for a while. Simply disgusting. read more

This has been my nail place for a few months now so I will start with the important things. Coming here for a pedi/mani and want a quality, relaxing experience then look no further. The quality of the job is always done top notch, my nails are filed/shaped perfectly. The polish section is large and they have lots of gel colors that match the regular ones in all the top brands. Pedicure chairs here are super comfortable and super relaxing. The technician (Kristy) takes her time with me and we love to chit chat. Unless I'm in a hurry, I inform her and she gets me in and out fast. I never have problems with my gel lasting with her either, unlike other salons I've been to in the area. AMAZING PERIOD. I am from California and I set the bar extremely high when it comes to my nails, and Susu, is now the only person I trust in Baltimore city to do my nails. I get my nails pretty long so that it already hard for any nail tech, and then the shape I want just makes it harder. I get fairly long coffin shaped perfections, and Susu does them effortlessly. I have showed my friends whom lived in Baltimore their whole lives and they are impressed this little place exits and can produce nails this good. They last 2-3 weeks, which is extremely long, given the length of my nails, which just proves the quality of the nails. The pictures do not even do the nails justice. My daughter and I found this place based off of the receptionist at the hotel she was staying at. We had made appointments at another salon but they did not show up and we had no other option but to look for somewhere else to fit us in quickly. We called Athena to make sure they could get us in and they let us know they had people available to take us in. This shop is amazing, it is not your traditional nail salon. It was a rocky start but I really love this place. I had the same person doing my nails for over 12 years so moving to a new city was a challenge when it came to finding the right place for nails services. Kristy is magnificent and we have become quick friends as she is as personable as they come. Always smiling and full of humor. Susu and I have a "love/hate" relationship as I love giving her a hard time when I come in. Susu and the staff are all wonderful and Susu does an excellent job with lash extensions. That place is definitely Athena Nails!! Been going to Athena for about 2 years now for lashes, manicures, waxing, and pedicures. The staff is friendly and inviting whenever I go in. As for my lashes SuSu does them and she's the best. I get compliments all the time on my lashes and they last me for almost 4 weeks! Pricing is very fair and reasonable. My gel manicures typically last me a month! I can't say enough good about this place. Also if something does disappoint then they will do whatever needed to correct it for you, it always seems customer satisfaction is one of their highest priority. read more

Absolutely amazing experience! I've been for waxing (eyebrow and Brazilian!) as well as for gel manicures. Everything is done with such precision and the staff is very social. I absolutely love this place... and did I mention that it has a great location, PARKING, is clean and shockingly enough...priced very reasonably. My Brazilian cost $42 ($62, if you add tip) ...and I have never been more pleased than I am with the one I received from SuSu at Athena's. I got my nails done at about faces canton for my wedding and they turned out so badly and weren't what I asked for at all. I went to Athena's the next day and she fixed them and made them so beautiful! She even took the time to drill the other acrylics alll the way down so I didn't have to soak off my spray tan with nail polish remover. Cannot thank them enough and I can't stop admiring my nails!! My lashes always look great, and I leave a fill-in appt looking like I just got a fresh full set. I absolutely love how flexible Susu is- she has evening and weekend hours. I just got a facial and it was the BEST facial I have ever gotten. Usually when I go get a facial I do not feel as if they had really cleansed my face but Athena did an amazing job at exfoliating and doing extractions. I found Athena nails today. WOW!! Hoa gave me a fantastic pedicure and manicure. She is sweet sincere and enjoyed talking to her.
