If i could give zero stars i would... she was rude as soon as we came in. Wouldn't give me an estimate on my alterations for my wedding dress until i tried it on. I wanted to know if it would even be in my price range before i took it out of the bag because it is a hassle to get it back in. I put it on and she immediately told me i should return MY WEDDING DRESS and that it is too much work to fix it. Who says that about someone's wedding dress??? She then told me she would only do it for 1,000. I just needed it taken in and shortened.... I ended up taking it to a different seamstress I've used in the past, they are doing it for $150. We also found out she told the other woman that had been there before us that she would not alter her JEANS because they were way too big... that's the point of taking them to a seamstress. read more

Great service!! I brought a dress from a store that was made wrong she was able to fix it and add what I needed.

They always do great work. You will need to plan ahead though because it's often not a quick turnaround.

Overpriced and the tuxedo came back covered in cat fur. She didn't press is saying "it will just get wrinkled on the plane" so I had to bring it to a dry cleaner for additional cost. read more

this review is quite contradictory and have no one to blame but myself. I'm literally making this post just to give potential customers a heads up my mistake was not asking first how much. The work that was done I'm sure is fine. Haven't tried anything on yet but on the second hand, it was three pairs of jeans that just needed to be hemmed short and a bathing suit that the straps just need to be a little tighter for my wife needless to say $99 and change for three hems and a bathing suit I thought and this is just me was quite extravagant. So if you're going there for the first time, I would ask how much does everything cost because I was just caught of God having to pay $100. To have three pairs of jeans hemmed $25 a pair at $15 to tighten the strap. Like I said, I'm sure she does absolutely fabulous work. I just think to make sure you know what you're paying for and how much. they should've been a $50-$60 job at best which is still high but willing to conform. read more

After driving by here about a hundred times, I popped in by chance since my son popped off the clasp button on one of his uniform shorts. I brought the shorts in and the lady that was there offered to sew the clasp back on. It was within a few minutes and they were as good as new. She insisted it was no charge after I asked how much it was. It was very thoughtful and I kept it in mind to go back in the future. Fast forward a couple months later and I brought in a dress I had hanging up in my closet for years for a wedding that I'm going to and I wanted to alter it to fit. The same lady was there even gave a tip not to hang up the dress by the straps since that's how it happened in the first place. I thought it was because it was worn out, so I'm glad she pointed that out. It was ready a day earlier than promised and I was happy with how it was altered. read more

Super rude older woman. This a super over priced shop. Wanted to charge me $35 just to fix a zipper. Which is more than half the price of my garment. I recommend going somewhere else with welcoming atmosphere and reasonable prices. read more

Wow! The woman in there is a nasty lady. I brought my dress in to see if she could take it out and she started yelling at me when I asked her if she was going to sew back what she ripped open. Jenny is the absolute BEST! She is direct and to the point. Her talent is unsurpassed. Alterations may be a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for her. I first took in a mother-of-the-bride gown for alterations. Jenny told me there was a three-week turnaround time! I needed it in two weeks, and she accommodated me. There is a long turnaround time, because Athens has so much work--because they're so good. I recently brought in a tablecloth to be changed from oblong to oval. I did have to wait it a while, but the result was fantastic! Thank you, Jenny and staff! I highly recommend Athens Alterations. Just allow plenty of time from drop-off to pick-up. Recently I took 2 dresses and two pair of pants in to Athens to be altered. The owner could not have been more pleasant. One of my dresses's had to be taken apart to be done correctly and she even had me come in for a fitting before it was completed. The other dress just had to be hemmed, but it had a full skirt and not easy to do. The other two items were two pairs of shorts to hemmed. Jenny is fantastic. I was having a hard time finding a seamstress open late enough during the week that would take a heavily beaded bridesmaid's gown and hem multiple layers for a reasonable price. Jenny made the fitting quick and efficient and assured me that the rest of the dress fit perfectly, only the hem was needed. This was a really refreshing change from the norm, as I always worry I'll be nickled and dimed to death when I get alterations - you're kind of a captive audience and you can get taken advantage of. The store front is a literal house on the west side of Military Trail, right off the road - blink and you might miss it! There's plenty of parking on the side of the house though, so don't worry about parking directly in front. read more

All I needed were some suit trousers hemmed. I was in town for a New Year's Eve wedding the coming Sunday. I brought them in on Monday, and was told by woman #1 they'd be ready Thursday night or Friday. I asked again and was reassured. When I came in on Friday morning (two days before the wedding), woman #2 tells me that I made a mistake - the pants were meant to be ready on the following Friday, January 5th. What? I have no idea how this could've been bobbled in translation. Woman #1 knew when the event was, and knew I'd have flown back the following day. And how would I not have blinked that a hem on pants wouldrequire almost 2 weeks to deal with? NEVER had a date been mentioned, or the idea that we weren't talking about the end of the current week. Christ. So then I need the work done in one day. But luckily I find another tailor who can do it in one day. I realize they're busy - terrific for them. But I also know how easy the job of hemming a pair of pants is. Hell, they could've done it in a few minutes when they realized the misunderstanding. But they had nothing but 'sorry, too bad'. I feel fortunate that what I needed wasn't more critical or complex. read more
