I had a great experience here! I asked for acrylics with a red French tip, but ended up changing my mind & keeping them nude. The price was very reasonable/average for what I got, just do your research by stopping in beforehand to stop you from being blindsided! After tip, my service was about $60, which like I said, is very reasonable. Ny nail tech was super friendly & fast & I enjoyed my visit. It was a Friday and Athens also has a huge college/teen girl population so there was a crowd, but I didn't mind the wait. I waited for about 25 minutes before being started on which wasn't bad at all. I'd definitely suggest making an appointment if you can to avoid waiting! The nails lasted 4 weeks which was great! They still looked good too I'll definitely be back, these nails were seriously beautiful!

The workers here are polite and efficient! I got my nails done last minute and it was not only quick but the result was better than the reference photo! The atmosphere is so calming and I cannot wait to come back!

Had an appointment with Jenny to get my nails done for my wedding a day before we leave town. Showed up for my appointment and was told she wasn't there and that I was told she wasn't there when I called. I never called, I had made the appointment weeks in advance on Instagram. They asked to see the photo of what I was wanting and said they didn't even have the colors. Its pink and silver, they should at least have that. Then the girl started telling others that I specifically wanted Jenny and making jokes in front of me. I am not happy with how I was treated and that my time was wasted. I now have to find a replacement nail tech before I leave in the morning. Other times I have went I have left happy besides a one other occurrence. The nail tech painted my nails with the top coat and missed my thumbs. When I pointed it out she told me I should have been paying attention to what she was doing. I was with my friend talking during our appointment and I guess she didn't like that although she kept jumping into our conversation. That same nail tech has not done my nails since then but always gave me and my friend mean looks.

I went to this nail salon while visiting my mother in Athens. I had driven there from Atlanta since nail services are much less expensive in Athens, and I chose this place because they'd been around so long and had good reviews on Google, so I assumed it would be a good place to get Gel-X nails done for a music festival. I was having a good experience at first. When Helen was curing my nails with the UV light, I could tell that something was wrong because I quite literally felt my nails burning a lot more than usual for Gel-X. I was wincing in pain. She put my entire hand into the lamp each time she needed to cure an individual nail, rather than painting all 10 and using a small finger-sized individual light on each single finger and then putting the whole hand in, which is the proper way to do them. So basically all of my nails were cured 1-10 more times than they should've been. I'm assuming why they all popped off the next day. Nails should never BURN the way they did during a new set, and they especially should not fall off the next day and then proceed to get INFECTED. All ten of my nails proceeded to pop off within 12 hours, and I didn't have time to go back. I requested a refund and was told I could get a new set for free, which would've obviously been a waste of time, or I would have to wait ~2 weeks for the manager to come back in town. I waited, and during that time, the leftover gel-x glue that was still stuck to my nails had broken at least 6 of my nails in half within 8 days. 5 days after that, I had a nail infection. My left middle finger was incredibly swollen and had green pus under the skin around my nail. This hurt to touch for about two days. Then, I tried to make it (again driving all the way from Atlanta to deal with this) to the salon to show them and get a refund, after work before they closed as it was the only day I was able to make it, and I was not able to make it in time. I had to leave for Brazil in the next few days, so I wouldn't be able to go in person. By the way, at this point, I absolutely would not have ever accepted a service from them ever again, free or not, which was a ridiculous offer and not at all equivalent to a refund. I texted the manager whose phone number I was given, and shared this information. I explained thoroughly what had happened, and I sent photos and videos of my broken and infected nails. I was told I would only be given a 50% refund, according to "their policy," so I explained politely that I was scared to let the salon work with my nails again so the free service would not be sufficient. I also explained that due to my suffering, I actually deserved more than a 100% refund, but that I would accept just my money back, and the manager quite literally ghosted me. No response since then. I cannot believe how careless this salon is with their customers, and I feel extremely disrespected as a person and taken advantage of. I am now working with a personal injury lawyer to fight this. This review is another attempt to communicate with the owner a second time before pressing charges as I am willing to accept a full refund, but also a warning to anyone considering going to this salon. For the sake of your finances and your time and health, please don't.

I'm so incredibly disappointed in the customer service at Athens nails. I showed the lady a picture of what I wanted (photos attached) I asked of daisys all over my nails. They told me it would be $30 since the design was "trendy" on TOP of the $20 for the gel, I didn't even get the full manicure. No cuticle cutting or anything, just a gel change. They were doing my nails while I was in the pedicure chair, which is awkward enough. I first asked for oval/round nails and she proceeded to make them square, I spoke up and asked her politely to make them more round. She just rounded the edges, so they're basically square with rounded edges. After the whole manicure was done I got a good look at them and was so upset. I realize that these ladies get so much shit from some woman, and I'm not about to be a Karen and yell at them. I did ask the girl when I was checking out if she could please not charge me the full $50 since it wasn't what I asked for. She asked to see a photo of what I'd asked for and said she could give me $10 off. She was about to when the woman who did my nails said I said they were fine. I didn't. I just saw the pinky, which looked ok but still wasn't what I'd asked for. The daisys were huge and the yellow was bleeding into the whites and the petals were wonky and so big on my small nails. Should I have said they weren't what I asked for in the chair? Yes. But honest to god I didn't pay attention to what all she was doing and couldn't see them completely. But I am incredibly shy, and introverted, and have awful social anxiety. The fact that I even spoke up at the end isn't like me, but I couldn't walk away with such an expensive manicure that was so bad. The lady then proceeded to charge me the full amount and just was like "sorry" I went to a different nail salon where they were appalled at the job and fixed it for me, for free. THAT is excellent customer service. Athens nails I obviously won't be returning, and I sincerely hope you work on your attitudes and customer service.

My nails look pretty good. Like the picture I showed but they didn't clean around my nails. They let me leave with powder all over my fingers. They charge a normal amount for SNS but told me I would be charged extra because of my nail length but they are my natural nails ?? Total it came out to $75....

They rushed through trying to do our nails and ended up causing me to bleed, cutting the nails uneven, and leaving the polish clumped on my friends. It was clear they did not care about the end result just wanted to be done. Never getting them done here again

I've been here many times and always come out with my nails exactly how I want them. The techs are sweet and ask questions to make sure you get what you're looking for. I've seen a variety of techs and saw Mike today, they're all great. 10/26 Came back again for my SNS set with tips this time. They turned out great! I chipped one shopping on Saturday and when I came in they fixed that nail at no cost!

Has SNS with tips done at another salon and was ready to take them off after 2 weeks so decided to try out Athens Nails. I walked in and right away was surprised by how nice and clean it looks on the inside, definitely the nicest I've been to in Athens. It was decently busy so I was worried there would be a wait but they asked what I wanted immediately then had me wash my hands, pick my color and have a seat. I knew I didn't want tips again and they were very knowledgeable about what would be good for my nail type and health. They have quite a collection of different colors and styles of gel and SNS. Donna quickly removed the old SNS and began putting on a new set, whole process took less than an hour. She was very kind and friendly. They also give you a nail kit with a nail file and buffer to keep and bring with you next time. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

I am visiting Athens for the summer and my nails and pedicures are my only vice. I looked at several nails salons in the area and settled on this one. The salon is clean a little on the older side but that's ok. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I asked for a complicated design for the 4th of July and they said sure we will try. Two hours later after taking his time my nails are perfect. I will return to this salon every time I come to town to visit. Thank you for the skill, knowledge and professionalism you've shown. read more

If you want really pretty nail are three this is the place to come. I used to ball out getting my nails done here every few weeks. They have beautiful ombré to choose from and also have unique designs that they can do for you , I love adding little dried flowers and what not. They do a great job with the dip powder and are usually pretty good with the pedicure. I think some ladies who work there give better massages than other ones but that can be expected anywhere. This is prob my fav nail shop in athens just bc they they have a great selection and comfortable chairs and I love looking at all the different designs read more

This place is horrible. Several problems... 1) I went to get a normal pedicure-- no extra frills or "luxury" scrubs. The base price is $17, so I figured that would include a pumice stone to scrub the dead skin off the bottom of your feet. WRONG. I was told that the $17 pedicure didn't include a pumice stone scrub because they didn't have any. $17 will only get your foot quickly rubbed with a small yellow sponge. How is that even a pedicure?! Thus, I had to pay $5 extra for razor to remove dead skin for a total of $22. That already annoyed me. 2) This place doesn't have any fans. After getting my toes painted, I asked if there were any fans I could put my feet under so they could dry (couldn't believe I even had to ask that). The technician told me that they only had one fan that wasn't used for customers behind a tech station. So I had to sit in the pedicure chair for 20-30 while I waited for the paint to dry. Inconvenient. 3) This place is very rinky dink. The inside looks run down and is in serious need of a makeover. Overall, I didn't enjoy this pedicure experience and I wouldn't recommend anyone spending their coins here. Don't do it to yourself! read more

This salon has a new owner, and it's already my favorite salon in Athens. The salon is clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. The talent is exceptional, and there are TONS of nail and polish choices. (My personal favorite is SNS!) Awesome experience! read more

Well to be honest I will not be returning to get my nails done here. I've been a customer for at least a year, they are very inconsistent with the quality of their work. One time you may leave highly satisfied and the next visit for your fill in or whatever your highly disappointed. I always leave a tip regardless but I'm done with this place I'm returning to my other nail salon this weekend. I love how this place is set up very relaxing and everything yet I don't leave always satisfied with the product. read more

Excellent service. The employees are extremely nice and they do a wonderful job. Victor did my pedi and he was amazing! He paid attention to detail and also gave a great message. Jasmine did my SNS nails. And let me tell you the place I went before messed them up so bad it was a nightmare but she fixed them and did such an amazing job! I feel like a million bucks! I was a guest at this nail shop while visiting Athens for the first time on business trip. This place was the most horrible customer service oriented place I've ever been to. Not a returning customer so they had no incentive to even be open to feedback because in their mind I was not an investment. I love giving great reviews only. However because of me speaking up to the manager quietly for their coaching purposes after I left, they created a scene in front of all other customers which was not necessary while I was there. Poor ability to receive feedback and unprofessional operating style! I do not recommend this place to visitors because you not returning to them means they can do whatever they want! Literally the worst nail place ever. All good reviews are internal people or family members or asked for nothing genuine. read more

The worst my nails have ever been done. Had to pay $5 extra for a shape that was not consistent (different nails had different shapes). On top of that, my nails have been completely destroyed because of the glue they use. Do not go here. read more

Wonderful business with the best staff! Everyone is so friendly, courteous and professional. Not to mention amazing at what they do. I am greeted with smiling faces and greetings from everyone when I come in and they make sure to figure out what you need right away. Their customer service is definitely a step above the rest. Everything is extremely clean, organized and well kept. And my nails have never looked better. I can't say enough good things about this place. I highly recommend Athens Nails to anyone and everyone, and I won't go anywhere else! read more

Worst nail salon experience of my life. Left with four of my fingers bleeding, one of which has a huge slice in it because the nail tech kept filing my skin. She didn't do the shape I kept asking for. All of my nails are now too short, different shapes, and different lengths. Then they tried to overcharge me! read more

The new management is great. Jenny is the manager and she will always take great care of her customers. An did my gel nails today and she did awesome! They always take their time even when they are busy. Oh and they give an awesome shoulder massage which I have not had at any other salon. Clean too! read more

This place is very inconsistent. My friends get their nails done here so they recommended it to me. I went here on a Tuesday evening around 5pm. There was about 4 people already there being serviced so I looked through the colors to decide what I wanted. After I pick a color, I wait a hour and a half for them to say they're ready for me. I go sit where they tell me to, and wait another 20 minutes for them to come start my nails. The nail tech rushed through my nails and I correct him numerous times after he smudged the polish. After he's finally finished I am waiting for them to dry and the polish is streaky (they probably put nail polish remover in the polished) so he puts another coat on them. At this point I am just ready to go home so I tip and leave. I probably won't return to this salon again. I usually live my friends' nails but my experience was not all that great. read more

They are very nice and friendly until it's time to pay. The student discount isn't real and they will inflate prices when they find out you're a student. I got a basic acrylic set with gel polis. It should have been $40 but they added an extra $10 for some "premium" gel powder that I didn't ask for and for long length, although they are short like I asked. If you choose to patronize this place, ask for a price before they begin. read more

Enjoyed my time here, peaceful staff is nice. My tech was/is good. Did a great job ( Hailey) calf massage was magical, pedi great. Only complaint is...I didn't notice until a few days later that she didn't pain my pinky toe on my left foot. All the other great but now I look weird. Other than that clean, ppl masked up and friendly read more

Their website states that 10 minutes late is a no show- with no mention of how long your appointment was. Sadly, they lost three customers this morning over that five minutes.

My daughter had a "back wax" for the first time at this facility. In preparation for this service, I Googled the rating, which returned to 4.7 Stars. We called the company to find out what to expect since this was her first time. Also, she had an event to attend and wanted to ensure there were no issues with her back after the service. The company advised us to come a few days earlier in case of minor irritation (considering eyebrow and lip waxing, you might get a minor irritation). Also, the esthetician recommended that my daughter get a "Sugar wax" service. We arrived five days before the event and had the service done. The esthetician had my daughter sign a waiver and advised her to use Neosporin or Hydrocortisone in case of minor irritation. My daughter said that the esthetician used her gloved hands as she repeatedly put the product on her back, but she didn't change the gloves between applications. My daughter thought to herself that she hoped the esthetician would change the product for each new client. Immediately after the service, walking out the door, I checked her back and saw white pimples populating on her back. My daughter didn't go back into the facility to make them aware because she had already addressed the possibility of some irritation. My daughter used hydrocortisone to help with the rash; now it's red. After the event, the rash developed fully on her entire back. The earliest we could get an appointment with a dermatologist was that Wednesday. During the visit, the dermatologist said this rash was caused by a contaminated product caused by double-dipping. She prescribed a cream to be used daily for at least two weeks, possibly three. We are still working on the rash, which has been present for seventeen days. Yesterday, we showed my daughter's back and spoke to the company about the problem. We requested a refund for the cost of the service and dermatologist visit. The problem was not a minor irritation but a massive reaction to contaminated products caused by staff negligence, which caused a full-blown rash. We asked to speak to the owner, which the esthetician declined. She responded that she would give the information to the owner and get back to us tomorrow. Today, after two follow-up calls from me, they finally responded: "Your daughter signed the waiver, which clearly states that we are not responsible for anything; therefore, they will not give a refund." In all honesty, based on yesterday's conversation with the esthetician, we didn't expect them to show good ethics or integrity. If I saw a review like this and the pictures as proof, I would say, "Thank you very much!" And move on to another company. We can only make decisions in today's world through the "Reviews." So even if you have a 5-star rating along with these business practices, I would not take the chance because you or your loved one suffers; the company moves on with business as usual. They have to be held accountable! So, we will be filing this information to The State Board of Georgia because this is a health issue that requires investigating or, at the very least, recording. No STAR ratings. We are making sure you get the information so that you can make the right decision.

I'm sure Olga is awesome, but despite booking my eyebrow threading appointment with her specifically, I never met her and a random lady did my brows--I have scars above my right eyebrow, like, deep scars from my appointment that resulted in deep itchy rash. It also smelled odd during the threading like maybe rose witch hazel but I'm not sensitive to that normally. A simple alcohol or aloe solution would have been preferred. Maybe it just wasn't sanitary but anyway I left and almost immediately broke out in a super itchy skin inflammation and started my new job like that! This was several months ago (April 2025) and I still have the deep scars on my face from this amateur facility with newbies. I just remember wanting to scratch it so badly. I used to go to a threading and sugaring place in Alpharetta before I relocated, and never had a problem nor sensitivity there. Brazilian and eyebrows, never an issue. Bare Wax is not a place I will be returning to. What sucks is I didn't even need the service, just wanted to try the new place and be groomed and polished. Honestly there was no difference, she didn't even know how to trim my eyebrows so they looked basically the same as when I arrived.

Not comforting or personable like you would want to feel with someone down at your goodies. She did most of the Brazilian with sugar. Which is what I wanted. She ended up doing some soft wax strips on my Bikini line which I thought was weird never had to have more than one wax used. Again go every 5 weeks. Ain't no bush it's minimal hair. Ok boom I flip over on my stomach which also never done but anyway she proceeds to then use hard wax on the backside and I asked her how come she using different waxes she said because of moisture the sugar isn't gripping mind you in all my years never ever had this happen. So she uses all 3 wax methods on me . Ok now she's done. No after wax spray not wax removal no hot towel nothing. Just sticky as ion what tells me get dressed then we'll do my eyebrows. Again I should have just left but yea I didn't so my sticky booty got dressed sat in the chair now. Told her what I wanted. She used strips fine that's what I expected. Showed me they look fine but I noticed it was still burning. So when we got to the front I said I think you burned me kuz it's stinging still. She ain't say shit told me my total now I know I should have spoken up more but honestly I was just flabbergasted by the experience I just wanted to leave. Nonetheless I would never return to this establishment nor would I recommend anyone to go there. I went to snooze restaurant right across the parking lot and I was telling her why I was so flustered and said wow she had the same experience it was terrible as well. So pay attention to the bad reviews and if you have a bad experience somewhere please share I know it's a pain kuz again I don't usually do reviews even if it's bad but how else is everyone else supposed to know.

She's got my hair bleached blonde and still grows down my back. I adore her customer service and she gets me in and out. Most salons you have to spend the day there but not here. No complaints. A family emergency came up and I wanted to weigh my options, so I called to ask about their rescheduling/cancellation policy-- to no avail. I then resorted to texting to ask them and I typed out a clear and concise message that indicated that I was inquiring only and didn't intend on changing my appointment at that given time. The message read: Hii! I wanted to know that if I wanted to reschedule, would there be any penalty/issues? I don't know if I need to yet, just weighing my options. Alexis, the owner, told me there was no penalty and that I can reschedule online if need be. After speaking to the airlines to change my flight to extend my stay (for the emergency, my grandfather passed), I decided to try to simply reschedule my appointment for a later date. After having issues booking online, I decided to call back because the same thing happened with booking my initial appointment. And Alexis manually went into their system to change it, and thought that perhaps she could assist me again. Instead, she texted me an incredibly RUDE and insensitive text, following another that said that she cancelled my appointment although I never asked for her to do so. There was no apology, no customer recovery, nothing. Attached you will see the text messages, please read them. And please do yourself a favor and DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE RESPECTED AND HAVE GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, because you will not get it from them. I really wanted to support a Black owned business, but there are others in the city that deserve the money that you'd spend here. UPDATE: Per the business owner's response (Alexis), she has made it even more apparent that her overall inadequacy and inability to thoroughly read, be honest, and even manage her books properly is alarmingly unprofessional. In the response (below), she claims that they "went out of their way to accommodate me past business hours," which is a prime example of her fragrant dishonesty. I simply asked her for whatever time that was available for my booking. I never asked for a time. Alexis took it upon HERSELF to book me at 6pm and not 6:30pm, as she claims. Please see below for proof of my statements via Alexis and I's text message conversation. In addition, I did call at least 4 times to try to be considerate, so I wouldn't cancel my booking. As I mentioned in my initial review, I had just received news of my grandpa's passing and had to change my flight to attend the funeral. When I messaged her (see texts below), I apologized for the calls and notified her of my family emergency-- which she chooses to ignore-- and even settled to come in for the appointment still because I didn't want to throw off their schedule. With the passing of my grandpa, I simply wasn't thinking of if the business was closed or not, and just wanted to get in contact with someone who could possibly give me information on rescheduling, if I decided to. Also, since when is calling a business when they're "not open" an inconvenience? If their contact number was solely their business number, someone calling during the daytime closed or not, isn't bizarre-- logically. Simply put, this all stemmed from a very prideful, egotistical business owner that refuses to own up to her mistakes and apologize for cancelling my appointment, when I only contacted her to get information on their rescheduling/cancellation policy. I believe that she may have trouble properly reading. During our entire exchange via text message, I was so kind to her. Never gave a rude or snappy response. So I'm unsure why she deemed that I wasn't a "good fit for their business." I will also be contacting the Better Business Bureau on this matter.

I waited outside for my name to be called. when the lady was doing my hair she was talking about my extension to her co workers, talking about how bad they did my install ETC I am from Dominican republic of course I do have an accent, and they were all talking about my accent and laughing about IT I will never go back there. poor customer service.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better nail salon than Athens nails. I've tried countless salons and this place is the only one that makes my smashed finger look normal. The place is immaculately kept, the employees are welcoming, and the skill set is the best I've experienced. I have friends from all over the country wishing they lived closer and could get their nails done here. I'm the type that learns how to do something myself, and I did try, but came back to Jenny the next day begging for her to fix the atrocity that I'd done to my nails and she graciously fixed me right back up. Do you have a nail design you think is too difficult to bring to fruition? this place has got your back, my friends think the designs are stickers they're so flawless. I have been going to this nail salon since I moved to Athens in 2016! Recently this shop moved to John's Creek this Spring. I have a full time job, am finishing up a Master's degree at the University of Georgia, AND balancing an internship, and I STILL make the drive to John's Creek for my nails, toes and lashes twice a month! Jenny is family to me and easily one of the most stable and reliable components of my self care. Her new shop also is near a Whole Foods, Sprouts, Cake shop, Restaurants and so many other things to make a day out of! I called this business to ask for contact information regarding who I should speak to about making a donation for a nonprofit, and I was shocked by the lack of professionalism. Instead of assisting me or at least pointing me in the right direction, the person on the phone hung up on me. This was incredibly rude and disappointing, especially considering the nature of my inquiry. As someone trying to contribute to a good cause, I expected courtesy and a willingness to help, not this kind of treatment. I won't be reaching out again, and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking to make a difference. read more

Using a marketing company, fastboy marketing, that manages their appointment system, gocheckin, which promotes removing negative reviews from public view and only directing customers giving 5 star reviews to be displayed to boost their rating while attempting to hide bad reviews...unethical business practice. I always have such a great experience at Athens Nails! The staff is super friendly and welcoming from the moment I walk in. My nail tech Jenny is absolutely amazing. She always make sure Im comfortable & pleased with my nails. My full set (acrylic nails) and pedicure always turn out perfect with super clean lines, smooth finish, and exactly the shape I want. I absolutely love going here. I have been going to Jenny for over a year and she is by far the best nail tech I have ever been too, everyone in the salon are so so sweet and so welcoming. Athens Nails is by far the best nail salon in Athens. I've gotten gel polish done at many other salons around the area and the polish at Athens nails has lasted the longest by far. The pedicures are also extremely relaxing, with the 3 different option of pedicures they offer. The workers here are super nice and the customer service is outstanding. Not only did Athens Nails do a great job on my pedicure and manicure, but their staff was so amazing at making me feel welcomed. They were very attentive to the details of my nails and constantly asking if they were hurting me while cutting my cuticles ( which didn't hurt at all) . Love this place! This place is run by the same people who do LV nails, which used to be my favorite salon. Now this is my go to salon because of the peacefulness and the diligence all of the technicians give to making sure my nails are done well. I just moved to athens after coming to UGA and a lot of girls told me about this place. I always get coffin nails and get annoyed when they're too wide but they were just how I like them. This is for sure my new favorite place. Tammy did my sns set, was super friendly, and took the time to make sure I was 100% happy with my nails. The rest of the staff was welcoming as well, and unlike other places I'd been, did not annoy the snot out of you when you decline something. 10/10 will be back. read more

I went to UGA and used to go to this place all the time. The owner is a total scam artist when it comes to payment. Their work is lovely, but I just couldnt bear to keep forking over such outrageous amounts of money for simple things. Now, I drive to a nearby town to get my nails done. read more
