The workers here are polite and efficient! I got my nails done last minute and it was not only quick but the result was better than the reference photo! The atmosphere is so calming and I cannot wait to come back!

Had an appointment with Jenny to get my nails done for my wedding a day before we leave town. Showed up for my appointment and was told she wasn't there and that I was told she wasn't there when I called. I never called, I had made the appointment weeks in advance on Instagram. They asked to see the photo of what I was wanting and said they didn't even have the colors. Its pink and silver, they should at least have that. Then the girl started telling others that I specifically wanted Jenny and making jokes in front of me. I am not happy with how I was treated and that my time was wasted. I now have to find a replacement nail tech before I leave in the morning. Other times I have went I have left happy besides a one other occurrence. The nail tech painted my nails with the top coat and missed my thumbs. When I pointed it out she told me I should have been paying attention to what she was doing. I was with my friend talking during our appointment and I guess she didn't like that although she kept jumping into our conversation. That same nail tech has not done my nails since then but always gave me and my friend mean looks.

I'm so incredibly disappointed in the customer service at Athens nails. I showed the lady a picture of what I wanted (photos attached) I asked of daisys all over my nails. They told me it would be $30 since the design was "trendy" on TOP of the $20 for the gel, I didn't even get the full manicure. No cuticle cutting or anything, just a gel change. They were doing my nails while I was in the pedicure chair, which is awkward enough. I first asked for oval/round nails and she proceeded to make them square, I spoke up and asked her politely to make them more round. She just rounded the edges, so they're basically square with rounded edges. After the whole manicure was done I got a good look at them and was so upset. I realize that these ladies get so much shit from some woman, and I'm not about to be a Karen and yell at them. I did ask the girl when I was checking out if she could please not charge me the full $50 since it wasn't what I asked for. She asked to see a photo of what I'd asked for and said she could give me $10 off. She was about to when the woman who did my nails said I said they were fine. I didn't. I just saw the pinky, which looked ok but still wasn't what I'd asked for. The daisys were huge and the yellow was bleeding into the whites and the petals were wonky and so big on my small nails. Should I have said they weren't what I asked for in the chair? Yes. But honest to god I didn't pay attention to what all she was doing and couldn't see them completely. But I am incredibly shy, and introverted, and have awful social anxiety. The fact that I even spoke up at the end isn't like me, but I couldn't walk away with such an expensive manicure that was so bad. The lady then proceeded to charge me the full amount and just was like "sorry" I went to a different nail salon where they were appalled at the job and fixed it for me, for free. THAT is excellent customer service. Athens nails I obviously won't be returning, and I sincerely hope you work on your attitudes and customer service.

I went to this nail salon while visiting my mother in Athens. I had driven there from Atlanta since nail services are much less expensive in Athens, and I chose this place because they'd been around so long and had good reviews on Google, so I assumed it would be a good place to get Gel-X nails done for a music festival. I was having a good experience at first. When Helen was curing my nails with the UV light, I could tell that something was wrong because I quite literally felt my nails burning a lot more than usual for Gel-X. I was wincing in pain. She put my entire hand into the lamp each time she needed to cure an individual nail, rather than painting all 10 and using a small finger-sized individual light on each single finger and then putting the whole hand in, which is the proper way to do them. So basically all of my nails were cured 1-10 more times than they should've been. I'm assuming why they all popped off the next day. Nails should never BURN the way they did during a new set, and they especially should not fall off the next day and then proceed to get INFECTED. All ten of my nails proceeded to pop off within 12 hours, and I didn't have time to go back. I requested a refund and was told I could get a new set for free, which would've obviously been a waste of time, or I would have to wait ~2 weeks for the manager to come back in town. I waited, and during that time, the leftover gel-x glue that was still stuck to my nails had broken at least 6 of my nails in half within 8 days. 5 days after that, I had a nail infection. My left middle finger was incredibly swollen and had green pus under the skin around my nail. This hurt to touch for about two days. Then, I tried to make it (again driving all the way from Atlanta to deal with this) to the salon to show them and get a refund, after work before they closed as it was the only day I was able to make it, and I was not able to make it in time. I had to leave for Brazil in the next few days, so I wouldn't be able to go in person. By the way, at this point, I absolutely would not have ever accepted a service from them ever again, free or not, which was a ridiculous offer and not at all equivalent to a refund. I texted the manager whose phone number I was given, and shared this information. I explained thoroughly what had happened, and I sent photos and videos of my broken and infected nails. I was told I would only be given a 50% refund, according to "their policy," so I explained politely that I was scared to let the salon work with my nails again so the free service would not be sufficient. I also explained that due to my suffering, I actually deserved more than a 100% refund, but that I would accept just my money back, and the manager quite literally ghosted me. No response since then. I cannot believe how careless this salon is with their customers, and I feel extremely disrespected as a person and taken advantage of. I am now working with a personal injury lawyer to fight this. This review is another attempt to communicate with the owner a second time before pressing charges as I am willing to accept a full refund, but also a warning to anyone considering going to this salon. For the sake of your finances and your time and health, please don't.

My nails look pretty good. Like the picture I showed but they didn't clean around my nails. They let me leave with powder all over my fingers. They charge a normal amount for SNS but told me I would be charged extra because of my nail length but they are my natural nails ?? Total it came out to $75....

They rushed through trying to do our nails and ended up causing me to bleed, cutting the nails uneven, and leaving the polish clumped on my friends. It was clear they did not care about the end result just wanted to be done. Never getting them done here again

I've been here many times and always come out with my nails exactly how I want them. The techs are sweet and ask questions to make sure you get what you're looking for. I've seen a variety of techs and saw Mike today, they're all great. 10/26 Came back again for my SNS set with tips this time. They turned out great! I chipped one shopping on Saturday and when I came in they fixed that nail at no cost!

I had a great experience here! I asked for acrylics with a red French tip, but ended up changing my mind & keeping them nude. The price was very reasonable/average for what I got, just do your research by stopping in beforehand to stop you from being blindsided! After tip, my service was about $60, which like I said, is very reasonable. Ny nail tech was super friendly & fast & I enjoyed my visit. It was a Friday and Athens also has a huge college/teen girl population so there was a crowd, but I didn't mind the wait. I waited for about 25 minutes before being started on which wasn't bad at all. I'd definitely suggest making an appointment if you can to avoid waiting! The nails lasted 4 weeks which was great! They still looked good too I'll definitely be back, these nails were seriously beautiful! read more

Has SNS with tips done at another salon and was ready to take them off after 2 weeks so decided to try out Athens Nails. I walked in and right away was surprised by how nice and clean it looks on the inside, definitely the nicest I've been to in Athens. It was decently busy so I was worried there would be a wait but they asked what I wanted immediately then had me wash my hands, pick my color and have a seat. I knew I didn't want tips again and they were very knowledgeable about what would be good for my nail type and health. They have quite a collection of different colors and styles of gel and SNS. Donna quickly removed the old SNS and began putting on a new set, whole process took less than an hour. She was very kind and friendly. They also give you a nail kit with a nail file and buffer to keep and bring with you next time. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

I am visiting Athens for the summer and my nails and pedicures are my only vice. I looked at several nails salons in the area and settled on this one. The salon is clean a little on the older side but that's ok. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I asked for a complicated design for the 4th of July and they said sure we will try. Two hours later after taking his time my nails are perfect. I will return to this salon every time I come to town to visit. If you want really pretty nail are three this is the place to come. I used to ball out getting my nails done here every few weeks. They have beautiful ombré to choose from and also have unique designs that they can do for you , I love adding little dried flowers and what not. They do a great job with the dip powder and are usually pretty good with the pedicure. I think some ladies who work there give better massages than other ones but that can be expected anywhere. This is prob my fav nail shop in athens just bc they they have a great selection and comfortable chairs and I love looking at all the different designs read more

This place is horrible. Several problems... 1) I went to get a normal pedicure-- no extra frills or "luxury" scrubs. The base price is $17, so I figured that would include a pumice stone to scrub the dead skin off the bottom of your feet. WRONG. I was told that the $17 pedicure didn't include a pumice stone scrub because they didn't have any. $17 will only get your foot quickly rubbed with a small yellow sponge. How is that even a pedicure?! Thus, I had to pay $5 extra for razor to remove dead skin for a total of $22. That already annoyed me. 2) This place doesn't have any fans. After getting my toes painted, I asked if there were any fans I could put my feet under so they could dry (couldn't believe I even had to ask that). The technician told me that they only had one fan that wasn't used for customers behind a tech station. So I had to sit in the pedicure chair for 20-30 while I waited for the paint to dry. Inconvenient. 3) This place is very rinky dink. The inside looks run down and is in serious need of a makeover. Overall, I didn't enjoy this pedicure experience and I wouldn't recommend anyone spending their coins here. Don't do it to yourself! read more

This salon has a new owner, and it's already my favorite salon in Athens. The salon is clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. The talent is exceptional, and there are TONS of nail and polish choices. (My personal favorite is SNS!) Awesome experience! read more

Well to be honest I will not be returning to get my nails done here. I've been a customer for at least a year, they are very inconsistent with the quality of their work. One time you may leave highly satisfied and the next visit for your fill in or whatever your highly disappointed. I always leave a tip regardless but I'm done with this place I'm returning to my other nail salon this weekend. I love how this place is set up very relaxing and everything yet I don't leave always satisfied with the product. read more

Excellent service. The employees are extremely nice and they do a wonderful job. Victor did my pedi and he was amazing! He paid attention to detail and also gave a great message. Jasmine did my SNS nails. And let me tell you the place I went before messed them up so bad it was a nightmare but she fixed them and did such an amazing job! I feel like a million bucks! I was a guest at this nail shop while visiting Athens for the first time on business trip. This place was the most horrible customer service oriented place I've ever been to. Not a returning customer so they had no incentive to even be open to feedback because in their mind I was not an investment. I love giving great reviews only. However because of me speaking up to the manager quietly for their coaching purposes after I left, they created a scene in front of all other customers which was not necessary while I was there. Poor ability to receive feedback and unprofessional operating style! I do not recommend this place to visitors because you not returning to them means they can do whatever they want! Literally the worst nail place ever. All good reviews are internal people or family members or asked for nothing genuine. read more

The worst my nails have ever been done. Had to pay $5 extra for a shape that was not consistent (different nails had different shapes). On top of that, my nails have been completely destroyed because of the glue they use. Do not go here. read more

Wonderful business with the best staff! Everyone is so friendly, courteous and professional. Not to mention amazing at what they do. I am greeted with smiling faces and greetings from everyone when I come in and they make sure to figure out what you need right away. Their customer service is definitely a step above the rest. Everything is extremely clean, organized and well kept. And my nails have never looked better. I can't say enough good things about this place. Worst nail salon experience of my life. Left with four of my fingers bleeding, one of which has a huge slice in it because the nail tech kept filing my skin. The new management is great. Jenny is the manager and she will always take great care of her customers. An did my gel nails today and she did awesome! This place is very inconsistent. My friends get their nails done here so they recommended it to me. I went here on a Tuesday evening around 5pm. There was about 4 people already there being serviced so I looked through the colors to decide what I wanted. After I pick a color, I wait a hour and a half for them to say they're ready for me. I go sit where they tell me to, and wait another 20 minutes for them to come start my nails. The nail tech rushed through my nails and I correct him numerous times after he smudged the polish. After he's finally finished I am waiting for them to dry and the polish is streaky (they probably put nail polish remover in the polished) so he puts another coat on them. At this point I am just ready to go home so I tip and leave. I probably won't return to this salon again. I usually live my friends' nails but my experience was not all that great. read more

They are very nice and friendly until it's time to pay. The student discount isn't real and they will inflate prices when they find out you're a student. I got a basic acrylic set with gel polis. It should have been $40 but they added an extra $10 for some "premium" gel powder that I didn't ask for and for long length, although they are short like I asked. If you choose to patronize this place, ask for a price before they begin. read more

I used to go to a threading and sugaring place in Alpharetta before I relocated, and never had a problem nor sensitivity there. Brazilian and eyebrows, never an issue. Bare Wax is not a place I will be returning to. What sucks is I didn't even need the service, just wanted to try the new place and be groomed and polished. Honestly there was no difference, she didn't even know how to trim my eyebrows so they looked basically the same as when I arrived.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better nail salon than Athens nails. I've tried countless salons and this place is the only one that makes my smashed finger look normal. The place is immaculately kept, the employees are welcoming, and the skill set is the best I've experienced. I have friends from all over the country wishing they lived closer and could get their nails done here. I'm the type that learns how to do something myself, and I did try, but came back to Jenny the next day begging for her to fix the atrocity that I'd done to my nails and she graciously fixed me right back up. Do you have a nail design you think is too difficult to bring to fruition? this place has got your back, my friends think the designs are stickers they're so flawless. I have been going to this nail salon since I moved to Athens in 2016! Recently this shop moved to John's Creek this Spring. I have a full time job, am finishing up a Master's degree at the University of Georgia, AND balancing an internship, and I STILL make the drive to John's Creek for my nails, toes and lashes twice a month! Jenny is family to me and easily one of the most stable and reliable components of my self care. Her new shop also is near a Whole Foods, Sprouts, Cake shop, Restaurants and so many other things to make a day out of! I called this business to ask for contact information regarding who I should speak to about making a donation for a nonprofit, and I was shocked by the lack of professionalism. Instead of assisting me or at least pointing me in the right direction, the person on the phone hung up on me. This was incredibly rude and disappointing, especially considering the nature of my inquiry. As someone trying to contribute to a good cause, I expected courtesy and a willingness to help, not this kind of treatment. Athens Nails is by far the best nail salon in Athens. I've gotten gel polish done at many other salons around the area and the polish at Athens nails has lasted the longest by far. The service I had is…read moreterrible, people are inexperienced and rude, and they lie about both their services and their posted hours on Google Maps. Full Story: I went in for a pedicure on Saturday, June 7, and asked for a cat eye design on my big toe. The young lady initially said she could do it, but she couldn't actually apply it correctly and had to call in an older lady for help. Instead of helping the young g lady, the older lady simply dismissed the request, telling me the cat eye "can't be applied on toes like that" and even suggested the color I picked is ugly. This place only has one UV light, so I had to wait for another client to finish. The young lady offered me a complimentary manicure to make up for it -- which I appreciated, and I offered to pay and asked to have gel nails done on my hands at the same time. Once again, the same older lady came and worked on my finger nails, and criticized the color I chose, saying it was too light and transparent and hard to apply. Later, I realized I left something behind and called the shop immediately. The older lady answered and confirmed they were open on Sunday, June 8. According to their Google Maps hours, they open at 11am. I arrived at 11:15am only to find them CLOSED. When I called again, she claimed they actually open at 12pm. When I asked why she didn't mention that the day before, she blamed me for not asking. I had to come back a second time to retrieve my item, and I did get a full refund of $115. During the refund process, the older lady still refused to take responsibility and blamed everything on the "wrong product" I chose and the young lady's inexperience. She even tried to claim that I hadn't paid for my hand service, which was untrue and beside the point -- even if it was complimentary, it doesn't excuse her rudeness, impatience, and complete lack of professionalism. I've been getting my feet done here for the last three years -- had cat eye done before -- so it's not about the product, but the complete incompetence and disrespect I encountered this time. The older lady's attitude was absolutely unacceptable: she was rude, impatient, and full of lies. I will never come back.

The salon is well designed and welcoming. I was offered a drink while being seated which is always a nice touch. While I prefer to use my pedicure time to respond to emails, catch up on any news I may have missed, etc. I think it's always important for you and your tech to (at minimum) make introductions, with the tech checking in on preferred nail shape, sensitivities, etc...maybe 5 minutes max of "getting acquainted" conversation. The extent of our exchange was which pedicure I wanted and that was pretty much it. Not necessarily a bad thing all the time, but on this occasion it presented more sales/transactional vs. valued customer. I started writing my review mid service, assigning a three star experience at the beginning; however, the young lady at checkout was kind, conversational, and attentive, which encouraged the bump in stars from three to four.
