There is another place that is close to the Berkeley Bart Station - Shop College Wear. The first time I went here was in May. The store is located between Residence Inn and BAMFPA. At the store I was looking for a matching hoodie and sweatpants as workout attire to go to the gym. I had no idea what I was looking for in style. I looked around the store and could not find a hoodie or sweatpants I was willing to buy. As I left the store one of the workers at the cash register informed me there is another Shop College Wear around the corner. I crossed the street and headed towards to Jupiter. The second Shop College Wear store was right there. This second location is larger with more varieties than the first store. At this location I was able to find a matching hoodie and sweatpants. The pair was charcoal-colored, but most of all the word on the hoodie and sweatpants isn't Cal but California. I feel as a graduate the flagship campus should be called California. Instead of going all the way to the campus at ASUC Store or two blocks away at Bear Basics if I need to buy California apparel I can go to the two locations of Shop College Wear near the Berkeley Bart Station.

Price wise, there were actually some t-shirts that were not ridiculously overpriced, and were really nice. They were sectioned off by price, so that made finding one a lot easier. Lots of clothing, but their hat and cap selection was kind of limited, but this is a very small store, so it's understandable. I was here before the Cal/Duke football game, so it was pretty crowded that day!!

I was looking for California Golden Bears clothes I could wear to a sports center/ gym while representing my alma mater. The two stores I went to prior to Bear Basics were more specialized in the merch but I couldn't find what I liked. When I came here I was hoping to find a t-shirt and short that appealed to me. After searching I found the items I liked. The t-shirt I bought had the insignia of the university. Also I bought a pair of blue short with a Cal logo. Both items were Champion brand. I liked the store because of the variety of Cal apparel. What made this store appealing to me while I was a student was the abundance of vintage graphic t-shirts. This was the place where I bought two Beatles album cover t-shirts: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road. When I looked at the vintage shirts upstairs I noticed there were lack of selections unlike before. The quirkiness appeal of this place is gone, but Bear Basics is a nice store to purchase decent apparel.

But then again, we also get to travel on off peak days and times. I would NOT want to come here on weekends. Atmosphere - Must go through security to enter the parking lot. Plenty of parking. I am grieving at the closure of the North Face.. Having worked there during the time of its…read morebeginnings and the height of its popularity, I really hate to see it go. My salary, though, minimal, allowed me to live in the area while I was going to graduate school at Uc Berkeley. . The outlet was on sixth Street and was, at first, an outlet only, whereas the main stores were across the Bay Area. The initial retail on telegraph Avenue was where I worked. It was the best possible experience for me at the time. I spent nearly every weekend camping in the Sierras or cross country skiing as the company loaned equipment to employees in order for them to be able to better describe the items to customers. So long ago, it was still safe for a woman to go on such adventures solo. That company was the basis for so many other outdoor companies similar to this. Patagonia, Marmot Mountain Works, etc. Hap Klopp was president during those early days and very true to his love of of the outdoors. I The closures were in response to robbery so, I have to hand it to the people repelling into the store in order to make a burglary. At least they were true to the underpinnings of the North Face being connecting with the outdoors. Obvious irony.

ONE DAY! I actually called before I went to ask if policy was firm and the person on the phone said "it depends on who helps you" which is so lame! This has been my experience since their policy change, with some people being super nice and accommodating and others denying the ability to return items... I called and spoke to Victor on the phone, he's the OWNER!!! Super cool chill guy...great vibes - I loved his vibe in fact. He told me what they had in store and what most Nurses go for but he had exactly what I needed. I came on by, he brought out sooooo many different brands for me to try on and even different styles in the different brands. He took his time with me, he was not rushed. Didn't mind helping me actually find a great shoe that worked for me, he even let me try on each and every one of them, measured them for me to make sure they were a great fit... There was me and another customer in the store and also another store associate I believe name Andrew!!! Everyone was super chill, it was definitely vibes.
