On one lovely day in November I was doing some gift browsing and shopping in the shopping center, hitting Marshall's first, then Banana Republic, then Old Navy. I had an awesome experience today at this location with Lee, who I'm assuming is a store manager. They saw me attempt to return two shirts with another associate which ended up being done incorrectly, only giving me store credit a quarter of the amount of what I purchased. I immediately came back in once I saw the mistake on the receipt and Lee stepped in to help me as soon as I walked back in. They ended up giving me not only all my money back in the original form of payment but also a gift card! I went in to the store to look for some work clothes, and I noticed that a lot of the clothes had stains on them as if they've been previously worn, stains and rips, I let the associates know, but they seem to be pretty unfazed, it happens when people try on clothes, nothing we can do. This was my go to spot at one point, however, that changed for me once I realized that they were owned by Gap and Banana Republic and that the fashions at ON were cheap knock offs of Gap which was a cheap knock off of Banana Republic. I was having a fine time paying for my clothes until the woman (not the same one who greeted me) asked if I wanted to open a store credit card. She told me she swears by Old Navy for her kid's clothing--great selection, awesome prices. Sounds good to me, so last year I meandered into an Old Navy location in Pleasanton. SInce then I always look for an Old Navy wherever I go, as I have pretty much fallen in love with the place. They have kid's clothes, of course. But, they also have adult clothing--both male and female. They carry shoes, accessories, impulse items, etc. I even grabbed a Star Wars Mad Libs booklet to have a laugh with friends. Today, I went inside to look for a few items for a gift, found those things pretty easily, but on my way out I saw this super cute sundress. It was light blue with little flowers, spaghetti straps and an A-line short hem. But wait--did I mention that it was less than $20.00?!?! WOW! I drive to Bay Street just for Old Navy too. I love finding sale stuff here. I got three newborn outfits and a gift box for about $13...what the hell? While I bought a summery pink birthday dress, tankini, a top, shorts, sandals and accessories - my guy was doing some shopping on his own. He bought some cute board shorts for $7, so he stocked up. It really takes a lot for me to come to this store. Old Navy has some fairly nice stuff for the overall prices they charge. Unfortunately for this store, it is placed in a shopping district that 1) is very cramped and busy, 2) has zero free parking (unlike a mall) and 3) the parking is expensive and either hard to come by (street spots) or sometimes kinda distant (multi-story lot that you have to walk from). By the time I've fought the I-80 traffic and fought for a parking spot, I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth. Not the place I'll do much shopping unless they are having a ridiculous sale OR I'm already here for other reasons (like the Apple store or movies). All that said, once inside the store the experience is pretty good. It isn't that hard to navigate around and find what you are looking for. They do a good job of having stock on hand without feeling -too- overstuffed. Staff aren't proactively helpful but they aren't rude or acting entitled either. Old Navy overall? Pretty decent. Old Navy in Bay Street? Not worth the headache. read more

Went to pick up some things for the kids today. My son wasn't paying attention and kept going straight when I had turned. He called out to me, I called back, and he still couldn't find me. He's nearly 4, so I was about to turn around and go get him when a sales associate came up with him and started by saying "ma'am, I'm about to call the police, we can't have children missing from their parents in the store" Holy over reaction, I mean, she could have just said "hey kid, here's your mom, let's keep a better eye on each other, OK?" instead of freaking him out thinking he was going to get the police called on him. Not to mention, he wasn't lost, he wasn't wandering around the store, we were separated briefly but were calling out to each other. Thanks for scaring my kid! Then when I went to check out, I waited in line until one of the cashiers called me over. I placed my things on the counter when he told me to wait a second, and then he ran behind the registers to the front of the store to take a group picture with a bunch of other workers. So I waited. And waited. Kids were getting fussy. I waited. Finally the cashier next to him finished the transaction she had been working on and took over for him. I mean, you want to take a quick break for something like this, don't call me over first and then disappear. It was beyond rude to keep me waiting there. I like Old Navy, especially for my kids, but today's experience with their customer service in this location has left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

While their t-shirts lack the corporate slogans I so despise, they were so tight I looked like a refugee from Fire Island. Second stop was Abercrombie & Fitch. Even worse idea. The only reason a middle-aged man should shop here is if he was applying to be an undercover "narc" at some high-school. Unfortunately, my "21 Jump Street" fantasy died about 15 years ago. Last, but not least, Old Navy was there to save the day. They are on to something here. We should hire employees even fatter than our customers! Pure genius. Putting aside the fact that I can only shop in the Men's section for T-shirts at any Old Navy since their "plus size" selection is a freakin' joke, I'm not a fan of this particular location. The clientle is loud and obnoxious most of the time. I don't like shopping amongst people who have no concept of the proper way to conduct themselves in public (doesn't usually involve yelling across the store or letting your kid run around mercilessly). The staff could give a fuck. They're not that helpful, like you're bothing them by asking a question. They're more concerned with carrying on their own conversations, whether it's amongst themselves or on a cell phone. Like any Old Navy, the prices are OK, the fitting rooms are roomy and clean, and their selection is pretty decent for the season. Even though I usually drive by this little stripmall on my way to East Bay and the city, there are times when I realize I've forgotten socks or a simple t-shirt to work out in. At these unforgiving moments of sheer exasperation and dorkdom on my part, I run over here to pick up these necessary items for cheap cheap. This store is facing the future home of H&M and right across the parking lot structure. I ran in, found my socks easily but the t-shirts were not too attractive to me (hey, I'm vain at times, so what) and walked out, within a span of 15 minutes and my pocket $5 lighter. They don't carry my fave jeans, but their t-shirts and certain summer apparel are a steal here. What I find funny about this store, is that most of the smaller sizes are all gone by the time I hit the shelves. L-XL-XXL. What are they trying to say to us. Parking was easy here too, since I only had to pay a $1 for 1 hour parking. Compare that to a $16 bill for only two hours and then some on Jackson near the embarcadero center. Bastards. read more

My wife came here to get me a pair of jeans which is good. I've worn the last pair I bought for 2 years and I literally wear all of my clothes out because I'm too poor to buy new ones and don't need the need to purchase new wear when the old stuff is still functioning. I go against every fashion curve for men if there ever was one. Even I have looked at old pictures of myself and figured ahhh, now I know why girls avoided me like the plague. She knows my size and pant length. I stepped out and when I came back she had returned. I went into our bedroom and saw the Old Navy bag but it was empty. Jeans in the closet? Nope. In the bathroom? Nope. Mysteriously left in my drawer? Nope. I ask her where my pants are and she says they didn't have my size but she got a hoodie and a parka. I'm figuring "great cause it been really f-in cold lately." So I ask where they are to try them on and she beckons me to the other bag. I look in and ask, "how the hell am I supposed to wear this ... it looks 20 sizes too small?" Just as I say it a light bulb goes off in my head almost simultaneously as I said "wait you've got to be kidding me. No. It can't be. No f-in way!" Oh it can be... I'm still wearing my old jeans. Old Navy didn't have my size. But apparently they have a parka that fits our 8 pound chin and a hoodie that fits our 9 pound terrier. I love this Old Navy. Though sometimes its a mess I just love it. I love how you can rummage through the clearance items and find stuff on there for dirt cheap. Grant it, it breaks my heart to see sometimes the same clothes on my back that I paid full price for but...it's cool. If there's one thing I can improve about the store are the lines/cashiers. I had a great experience at this store over the weekend with a female sales rep, however, today I had the worst experience with a male, seemingly manager type. Last night, I went into the store with my roommate with which we both selected about 8 items to purchase. I had just received a credit card for Old Navy and they provide you with 10% off coupons to use within the first 90 days. So I forgot the coupon which he did not honor (would have been good customer service too since it was just 10%) however I understand that. He assured me that he would hold the items overnight, acknowledging that they don't usually do so. He assured me that he was working the following day and would make sure the items were there. I returned today, in a hurry on my lunch break which I did explain to him. He couldn't find any of the items and left me standing at the counter looking for them for over 30 minutes. I was telling him that I needed to leave and he kept telling me to hold on. Needless to say, the entire ordeal took way too long and he still couldn't locate the items. The store had also been rearranged overnight therefore just picking out the items again was no small feat. Regardless, the customer service that I experienced from this employee was unacceptable and unaccomodating and therefore, I will go out of my way to visit another Old Navy if I ever choose to shop at one again. read more

One girl kept giggling and flirting with the dude in the back packing the hangers. and my cashier #2242973 (I guess they don't give them names, haha!) was snooty to a fault. It was a total awful experience. And she gave me a lecture how stores in the Bay Area are now charging for bags and I had to pay for mine if I wanted one.Otherwise, I walk out of the store carrying my merchandise in my hands. The whole time, this chick, never smiled and stared me down like I was some kind of bug. Goodness. She should not be working in customer service. These people should take lessons from customer service in the Elk Grove Old Navy who are way nicer and friendlier than the Bay Area chicks. This location is compared to the location in concord. They are both big and fair with the selection of clothing they have. The store is organized and half of the store is for women and the other half is for men. The children's and baby section is in the back of the store. Which is all organized and all in the right sizes. As far as people, the place does get crowded when they are having a huge sale or something but if you come early or just when they are about to close you'll be fine. The staff here are really nice and are always around to ask questions. Fitting room people aren't so nice. read more

Whatever's on sale, they'll mix it up with the more expensive ones not on sale. You probably wouldn't notice it, if you like buy tons of clothes all at the same time. but WATCH OUT!
