But there are other stores here along with restaurants and coffee shops. Seems like this is more of a place to hang out at to me. They had live music the time I was here. I got lucky and found some street parking, but make sure you feed that meter, the Berkeley meter patrol doesn't play. They are waiting for that meter to expire and they circle this area a lot!!

It's very cute and cozy in the evening/at night, especially after the rain and with those lights. It's not a big street and there's a limited number of shops, but it's nice to take a quick stroll down. I'll be honest, none of the shops here are really from brands or stores I would normally shop at (lol rich people stores), so we really didn't stop by a lot of them and most of them were closing for the evening anyways (I have learned that lots of things in the Bay Area close quite early). There's some street parking and some parking lots but it looked quite packed. Not sure what it's like on a non-rainy day.

Outback is a clothing store which sells very unique clothing designs with original fabrics. I actually shopped at the store back in the 1980s when it was located on Sacramento St near Dwight Way in Berkeley. I bought a coat from them that lstter for years. So this place has been around for decades. (I think at one point they moved to 10th St need Gilman in Berkeley.) I found a beautiful cashmere scarf, for a reasonable price, for my daughter who lives on the East coast. She received it and commented on how soft it was. The saleswoman was super friendly. We had a nice conversation. (A different saleswoman last year was also nice and pleasant.). The clothing can be on the pricey side for my budget. But if you are looking for a piece of clothing that no one else has, this is the place to visit. I really should go back and treat myself!

The 2 young girls looked at me like I had no business to be in the store. They did the bare minimum to help and spent the rest of the time staring at their phones...I was the only person there. Someone should remind the girls they are sales people. So little inventory at this place it was boring and overpriced. Stay away!

I bought a few items on sale and at the moment of purchase I was offered an extra 10% off if I signed on the VIP program so I did. After leaving the store I realized the 10% wasn't applied as offered. upon returning without looking at the receipt, the clerks, Sarah and Kristine assured they had applied the vIP discount. Checking the receipt myself it was clear there was no discount so today I called and Kristine told me she couldn't apply the discount over the phone and that I needed to drive there and bring all the items. I went there and after 30 minutes she still couldn't figure out how to apply the discount so she called her manager who told her take 10% off the bill, but she didn't know how to deduct 10% out of $725 dollars so I had to explain that simple math to her. The whole time she had an unfriendly negative demeanor. A fun shopping experience turned into a time wasting unpleasant episode. I hope Margaret O'Leary gets better help

When I showed her the sticker price, she said it was their wholesale price, without apologizing for the incorrect or confusing labeling. This response was disrespectful. Customers should not be shown wholesale prices, and products should be clearly marked with the correct retail price and selling terms. Displaying incorrect pricing and dismissing a customer's concern shows a lack of basic business knowledge and poor management. This reflects a business that does not understand how to properly run retail operations.

I found what I wanted - tip top quality clothes designed by real designers such as NY77 Design but also some good basics in the mix (but not embarrassing cheap frumpy brands with zero style) I used to be a customer but stopped going many many years ago for various reasons, many which are expressed in those dusty old reviews. But after I heard that the ownership changed and that she was wonderful to work with I had to checkout her and the store myself. Diana is a goddess. I'm so very excited to see someone young, who has vision and good manners, who is inclusive to all ages, shapes, and tastes step up into the world of shopping for clothes! I'm not sure if this business is so popular they can afford to be rude to customers, but there have already been a lot of businesses in that 4th space and most of them don't last long. If you're thinking of going to Ruti, don't bother. They don't want your business or mine.

While I'm here, I'd like to comment on the 1 star review by Alan. I happened to have been present on the day of this conflict and it lives in my memory as one of the creepiest and most uncomfortable retail interactions I've ever witnessed. Alan was rude, patronizing and deeply inappropriate as he attempted to intimidate the store manager, who held her own with impressive grace and strength. There were several customers in the shop that night, and it seemed that most were unwilling to leave until we knew that the manager and her staff were safe. We were relieved when security arrived. Kudos to the manager for her poise under pressure, her commitment to protecting her staff, and unwillingness to give in to his attempts to intimidate or take the bait of engaging with his review.

Well this is pretty much the equivalent to that. I mean literally I can find everything that Topdrawer sell for a lot less. I don't mind buying quality items and I do but not from this establishment.
