With the closure of the Oak Street Athleta location (RIP) this location has now become my go-to. It's been a minute since I've stopped in, but was in earlier this month for some post-birthday retail damage (I had gift cards :)). It seems like the store has been spruced up (lighter, brighter interior) since my last time coming here. Anyone who justifiably spends $90 on a pair of capris that you will sweat out in is an idiot in my book--- there's much better websites out there to buy cute workout gear that's at a reasonable price. Would have bought a couple of things I found on the "sale" rack, still incredibly overpriced. Not impressed with this store, seems like a replica of the lulu brand. Won't be back. read more

I stopped at Athleta today on a whim after getting my hair cut just a block away at Indira Salon. I have walked past the store on numerous occasions, but have never bothered to go inside. In need of a new pair of yoga pants (sorry girl behind me in class last week who got to see the lovely holes that have formed in the seat of my pants), I figured that it wouldn't hurt to see what they had to offer. I have to say that the clothes were a little pricey, but I was still impressed with what Athleta had to offer. I found the perfect pair of yoga pants as well as a super soft and comfortable shirt that I could easily wear to both the gym and to work. I also found a very cute dress, but, alas, I couldn't afford to get all three items, so the pants and shirt went home with me while the dress was merely added to my wish list. The clothes are both cute and functional, and they offer an array of clothing suitable for hitting the gym, yoga studio, hanging out on the weekend, and even some pieces that are work appropriate. The store is clean, well laid out (a section for yoga, a section for running, etc.), and the super friendly employees were incredibly helpful and more than willing to answer questions or give recommendations. In fact, the pants I bought were a pair recommended by one of the ladies who was helping me. I can't wait to check out some of the free classes they offer in the store. read more

I've been shopping Athleta online for awhile now, so I was quite excited when they opened a store in town. I can finally see up close some of the dresses, skirts, and pants up close instead of estimating whether or not I like something online or catalog. I went in sometime after they had opened a week or so. It wasn't really a madhouse as I would have thought. Wait, I take that back. There was a bit of a line for the dressing rooms, but the employees were on top of the game there. I love Athleta's cropped semi-fitted pants and some of their skirts. They're super comfy and stretchy when you need it. I'm not into the super tight yoga pant look, so the semi-fitted works fine for me. They carry petite sizes online, but in store there are only a handful of petite items. I ended up picking new pair of pants and a new zip-up jacket both perfect for an upcoming trip I had. Looking for something to wear during the summer or for vacation? At my last visit, they had a lot of bathing suits, dresses, cover-ups, flip flops, hats, you name it. Now, if only weather in Chicago could figure out season it's in, I may back for some of those. read more

Took advantage of the 'give it a workout"guarantee. I bought a few things in Madison, one top "grew" on me during hot yoga. Way too much of the girls showed up. Had to return the top, couldn't find receipt. At Lulu I would have been SOL. Here, they scanned my card, the inside label of the top and voila! Credit card was reimbursed. Yes, these are not Target priced work out clothes, but I love working out in something I feel good in, and that I could also stop by the grocery without revealing too much info about my body. Great experiences keep me coming here, not to Lulu. read more

I've been an Athleta shopper prior to the Gap buying them out. I enjoy shopping this store more than the location at Northbrook Ct. where the service is hit or miss. They have lots of workout attire options for just about every sport. Their sizes can be all over the place (like the gap) but they do offer petite & tall. I just find it hard to wear a consistent size here which is annoying - especially when trying to order from Athleta.com I don't find the quality as good as lulu but they have an awesome return policy and will let you return an item even if it is worn (if you try it & dislike it you can take it back) they will also offer free expedited shipping if you see something in the store & they don't have your size. You will basically get it within a day or two. Overall, great option for workout gear & comfy, cute clothing. read more

Welcome to Chicago Atlheta! We are very happy to have you. I know that I will hear long, loud sighs from many people bemoaning that there's yet another chain on Southport. Not from me. I'm super happy to see another retail store on Southport, especially one at which I will shop frequently. I really like the style of Athleta. It's not so old ladyish that it looks like Chico's but it's almost more sophisticated than something like H&M. This store is particularly nice. Huge windows. Dark woods. Very helpful and unpushy employees. The only downside is that the goods are pricey. And even worse, I love them. This store has all kinds of in-store events. After the whole Chip situation of women's bodies at fault I went to this store with my mom to purchase my sister's bday gift. I was amazed at the fabric and bought two pairs of pants for myself. I have to say is these pants are amazing! I endured a kickboxing class and a crossfit class and these pants did not ride up or down. Finally pants that I don't have to keep making adjustments so no risk of having a wedgie or camel toe (I know TMI). read more

I have never, ever had a good service experience in this store. They don't say hello when you walk in. The store is totally empty and all the sales people are running around doing things and are too busy to help. They are unfriendly when you approach to counter to pay for your super expensive workout clothes. Every time. I like the clothes. They fit, they last, but the sales staff at this store is AWFUL. It's gotta come from the manager. Pleasant and helpful staff come from the top down. Shop them online if you're gonna buy their stuff. Stay out of the store, just makes me grumpy to be treated like this. Walk up and down Southport, the smaller or independent businesses don't treat people with such disdain. I love most of the stuff that I have purchased online, so I was super excited to see the retail store in Chicago. I've shopped this location on four occasions now, and it never disappoints. The only downside is inventory moves very fast; I fell in love with a sweater, and a week later they were already sold out. I feel that being 5'4" I would be doing a disservice if I didn't mention that they do free hemming. read more

This is a review on the store, not the kind of work out attire they carry (which i love!). Customer service here is hit or miss. Sometimes you will have the really helpful ones, usually in my experience, the gals that work the fitting rooms, or you have the uptight, snobby cashier ones that don't say "hi" when you walk in, and don't ask if you need help. Usually I don't need help, but it's nice to be asked though. Parking in the street is okay, I usually go on a weekday in the morning, so parking isn't too bad. Location is great, with all the other stores and restaurants that you can go to while you are checking out Athleta. It makes me kind of glad that I have to order everything online for the petite sizes, if I only had the store to go on to buy items, I probably wouldn't. Huge plus is that it's part of Gap, so you can use your gap card to rack up certificates! read more

Walked by many times, so I stopped in looking for some new running and workout pants. Courtney was a rockstar of a sales associate. She listened to my needs, suggested a few options. I found some great fitting capris Fit better than lulu and price is great. Wore them today and loved the feel I went back for a second pair Courtney remembered me and what I purchased. She was quick to get me my pants and in/out of the store. Great service and product!! read more

I walk past this place on my way to work everyday. I decided to stop in to look at there yoga pants. I was surprised to see the dont carry larger sizes. I dont understand why some of these fitness stores don't think that us chubby girls may want to start working out to lose some weight and we may need workout clothes too. Also kinda pricey but if they had my size I would have still tried them out. When I asked one of the girls that worked there if they had any XXL she scoffed and said "We don't carry those sizes." I know Im bigger but I dont need a worker to remind me Im fat. Thats why Im there in the first place, to get back in shape. No Thanks. read more

This store is fantastic. I had two items that I purchased in 2013 just altered at no cost. Of course I didn't have the receipt anymore, but they still showed impeccable customer service. One was a FAVORITE sweater that the zipper had broken on only a year after the purchase, which meant I hadn't worn it in a long time (just got sad every time I looked at it in my closet)....my own mother wouldn't even replace the zipper for me and they did - at no cost! Additionally, they hemmed a pair of pants for me. I mean....I kind of love them right now. And I can't wait to wear my favorite gray zippered sweater again. When it's not 85 degrees out. I've been to an Athleta store out of town and shopped on their website, so I wanted to visit the new Chicago location. It is conveniently located right next to the Southport brown line stop. I went on a Sunday morning to attend one of their free classes. Mats and bottled water were provided, and the class and instructor were excellent. They offer a lot of free programs (such as yoga, Zumba, running club) and post the schedule on their website. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The store is big, but with a large well-organized selection of merchandise. One thing I really like about Athleta is that they carry petite and tall sizes in some merchandise. If they don't carry it in the store, you can order it to be shipped to you free of charge in 2-3 days (as opposed to the 7 day or more free shipping of orders from the website). The store also accepts returns of items purchased online. read more
