I love my athleta clothes. I really loved that they sold extended size in store. It felt so inclusive and nice to actually shop somewhere. I went for the first time in a few months, and they don't sell extended sizes anymore. I asked an employee and she rudely said "we've never sold that. It's only online." I've bought most of my athleta extended sizes clothing IN STORE. Now I will probably never buy from here again. It's very said being "size inclusive" gets pushed to only online and just another way to make those needing those sizes feel isolated. read more

Really nice store, and the associates have always been very accommodating and helpful. I only started shopping at Athleta a couple years ago. All the girls are very knowledgeable and welcoming. They tell you about all the fits and answer any other questions you have. The fitting rooms are very clean and the attendant is typically super helpful. There are also classes on Sunday mornings and other days of the week before the store opens. I also like that if you buy something, workout in it, and you don't like it, there's a no questions asked return policy. Highly recommend stopping in for a visit! read more

I have been a fit pro for over 4 years with this athleta store in Rice Village, yesterday I was in shopping for the 1st time after having a baby during the pandemic so my fit pro card was expired. I had over $350 in clothes to purchase and the manger was very rude about the fact my card was expired and the program has been terminated. It would've been nice to have been offered something for my years of supporting this store and especially since I was ready to spend over $300 with them. This was handled poorly and I walked away from my clothes and will now buy online instead of this store. read more

I have shopped in this store for the last 8+years. I have never walked out under $500. Loved the clothes. The workers have no customer service and are down right rude. One girl was on her phone and not paying attention at all. I asked if they had a size in stock and she looked at me like I was bothering her and she treated me like a peasant. She answered that if it isn't out here we don't have it. Went back to scrolling on her phone leaning against the back of the register desk. However, a black lady walked in and she actually greeted her with a smile and was very helpful. I then felt it was racially motivated, so I asked if they had a long pant and she was rude again. A beautiful new store -- friendly staff and a wide variety of colors and styles. They had a grand opening with light apps and mimosas which was quite nice. I've seen a lot of the Athleta clothing online but being able to see it in detail and touch it is something special. You can tell the details that make the clothing unique -- bright colors, zippered key pockets, lightweight running shirts with covered thumb holes, ruching to add stylish form for ladies, etc. The thing I just can't get past is the price. I guess I'm cheap, but I can't see paying $80 for a workout jacket, even as beautifully designed as it is. I didn't see anything that I thought was reasonable priced. A sweater jacket for $120, yoga tops for $60. Do these things do my downward dogs for me? All in all, beautiful clothes, great colors and styles. read more

This review is for the instore classes only, and not for the merchandise. I decided to try out a yoga class at Athleta Rice location on 8/31. The store has an event calendar on their website and today's class was scheduled to begin at 900AM so I arrived at 850AM. When I knocked on the door to the store, a staff member told me they weren't open to let people in yet so she asked me to wait outside. As people started coming in, we all just stood outside the door holding our gym bags and yoga mats. I would have expected them to let people set up their mats and at least wait inside considering class was scheduled to start in just a few minutes. Once they did let us inside the store, i set up my mat and sat down. No sign of a teacher. By 910AM, the staff said teacher was on her way. By 920AM, staff said the teacher is actually one of the store managers and she is getting there as quickly as she can and we should all give her cheers when she arrives. By 930AM, a teacher arrived, who the staff didn't recognize at first and then realized she came to fill in, only she doesn't teach yoga. She taught some type of interval training that requires training shoes. I had not brought shoes for his because I was there for a yoga class. (An additional note here, I called the store in the morning before I left my house to confirm there was a class today, and specifically asked for confirmation that it was yoga and asked what to bring with.) I tried for about 10 minutes but with the workout we were introduced to, you had to have proper shoes and I excused myself at 945AM, at which point they announced one more time that the yoga teacher is on her way. It is never fun when a teacher is late, luckily it doesn't happen very often, but for a teacher to be late for 45 minutes and for the staff to still expect us to wait there is quite disappointing. While chatting with other guests who have been regularly, I heard these no shows a frequent thing in this location. I am particularly frustrated because this happened on a Saturday morning, which is now wasted. read more

I stepped in here on Black Friday nice and early, and as busy as all the rest of the shops in Rice Village were, this place was absolutely dead. I was a bit confused, as their clothes are super cute. They seem to be good quality, and have a variety of things for running, yoga, ext. Then I realized it was because on BLACK FRIDAY, the biggest shopping day of the year, they were offering a WHOPPING 20% off. Dude, seriously? That's all you got? Their clothes are not cheap, around $80-$90 for yoga pants, and $50+ for tops. Personally, I thought it was a bit cheap not to have SOMETHING on sale....No wonder it was dead. I generally shop online at Athleta, which is owned by the same company as Gap and Old Navy. However, my online purchases were too large for my 107 lb body, so I decided to stop by in person and exchange them. The staff here is super helpful and nice, so I like that because I really did not want to spend time browsing the stores and instead, just wanted to tell them what I wanted and have them find it for me so that I could make a quick exchange. And help me they did! Finding me two incredibly soft zip up jackets, one a little heavier than the other. This is high quality stuff, too, not the cheap crap you would get at Academy, and this is my 2nd favorite store (only after Lululemon) to buy running tops, jackets, and my absolute favorite from the ... the Northpeak Pant! I discovered Athleta with Lisa R about a year ago At that time I bought one work out exercise leggings Today while HL was at Jos Banks, I wandered into the Village location I wish I had asked for the name of the terrific young lady who helped me She brought me other sizes and other items to try on while I was in the dressing room I wanted a few more workout capris and tops, plus I was looking for some hiking pants to hike in too for my upcoming vacation I was informed if I needed another size and they didn't have it, she would check another store and also check online too I ended up buying a light weight jacket and a really cool work out capris too I received $25 off my purchase It was such a pleasant experience and the young lady was so helpful too I highly recommend this location read more

My first visit to this store was amazing!! The associate brought me several suggested outfits and was very attentive. I never had to leave the dressing room! This was such a time saver and really set my expectations high. I have returned to this store several times and have never received the same level of service. Don't get me wrong, the associates are always friendly, but I was under the impression this was a top notch store in terms of customer service. Selection and Stock: This is a smaller store and I'm frequently disappointed when they don't have the size or color that I want in stock. I see a lot of items online that I believe never make it to the store. Once an associate helped me order the item I wanted online and it was shipped to my home at no charge. Another visit I was told they could order it, but I would have to pick it up in store. I am not sure what their policy is regarding this; perhaps it has recently changed. Returns and Exchanges: I have exchanged one worn item here and their response was not rude, but you could tell my return wasn't exactly welcome. Once again I am only disappointed because my first trip to this location set the bar so high. Alterations: They do alterations for free and I have used this service. It took them a few days and I was pleased with the results. Quality: Hit or miss. I have been pleased with most of my purchases but super disappointed with others. For example, I washed a $70 tank 4 times and looks worse than some of my 10 year old $12 Danskin tanks. Others items have held up so far. read more

Athleta is the clothing company that has made the Gaps workout clothes for many many years. I like their clothes and they hold up better than many brands twice as expensive. I bought a pair of kick booty pants when they first opened. They are holding up perfectly. The staff is super friendly and helps you find the right pair of pants. Nice, big shop with a good selection of fitness clothes but the staffing is questionable. I've come to this location since it has opened and it's a luck of the draw how I'm greeted or dealt with each time. Two notable times involve browsing for 15 minutes while all staff conversed at the register without acknowledging me (I felt like I was crashing their party or something for being there.) and when I tried to return a pair of pants that were ripped after washing once and was told by the registrar, "These pants are so old, I don't think we even have them anymore." Well lucky for her, I found the exact pants in store to show her they weren't that old! Yay for crappy customer service. Clothes is good though. read more

My favorite Athleta! The staff is very friendly and helpful. My well behaved dog was allowed to be in the store with me while I shopped. They were so loving to my dog. I bought several new work out outfits. The clothes here are made well and last through many washes. This store is in an out door shopping center. Is half a star an option? No? I visited Athleta , Houston Rice Village today and the service was disgusting. Actually it was non existent. I walked in and browsed unacknowledged for the better part of 10 minutes. Meanwhile, there were two associates standing around chatting at the cash wrap. Not once did anyone welcome me or offer me any assistance. I saw a pair of tights on display and proceeded to look through the various sizes to see if I could find the pair displayed and I could not. You would think that at the very least if you see a customer looking through sizing sand style, struggling to find what she needs assistance would be offered at that point, nope.. Another associate emerges from the back and as opposed to coming to offer me assistance as I was in her direct eye site- she decides to join the ladies chatting at the cash wrap. I was looking to invest in several, quality new work out pieces today. However, I was not afforded that opportunity. For a higher end athleisure line I just expected so much more. read more

The customer service at this location is great. And overall, I really like Athleta's attire. The bottom line? I refuse to pay $80 for a pay of workout pants or $60 for a workout shirt. I love Athleta and take advantage of going to them when I travel for work because it's over an hour to get to he one near my home. The gentleman who assisted me was friendly, nice and attentive as I took back almost one of everything to the fitting room. It was my intent to buy a lot of items but part way through trying in clothes the female employees started a stick banging work out. It was so loud and maddening to listen to as it didn't math the tempo of the songs being played over the speakers and was simply excessively loud. I had to cut my visit short only buying 3 items. I made a comment to the gentleman who checked me out and he agreed that it was irritating. I would have stayed longer and bought more if the workers didn't have to do that. I went into the store today (04/25/16) at 6 PM with the hopes of purchasing an outfit for my mother (who recently has become a yoga enthusiast :). Neither of the 2 sales associates that I saw asked if I needed help (and they barely acknowledged my presence). For the cost of products offered, more appropriate customer engagement is a minimum requirement. I was beyond disappointed. Quick addendum: There were no other customers in the store so they had ample opportunity to "encourage" my business. I see someone had the exact same experience today.
