I had a hip replaced and there was no question where I preferred to have my PT. I contacted them to schedule the appointments and my assumption was that since the Doctor had sent over the order, they would have all the information. I was asked when the Doctor wanted the PT to start. I did not have this information and asked if they could contact the office on my behalf. My thinking was that if they needed additional information, they could get it during the call. The response was jaw dropping and I'm not exaggerating... "You'll need to call them since we have no way of contacting the Doctor's office"... WHAT!?!?!? After an afternoon of reconsideration of them as my provider, I contacted Endeavor Health. They also needed additional information, however their solution was to reach out to the Doctor's office directly. I wish I could say that this was an outlier, and that Northwestern Medicine really supports their patients, but I can't. This was just another support failure in a line of historical "can't be bothered" attitude. This last go around is it for me. If they can't be bothered to make a telephone call, then I can't choose them as a health care provider. My advice? Call anyone else!

I needed a Chiropractor ASAP. I called Dr. Barthens office and he was in. I went there and received 1 treatment and the pain was reduced by 50%. This Dr. is like magic. He's incredible at what he does. When something goes out of place once in a while. Most of the time it's just a single treatment and I'm done. He never pushes for another appointment or tries to get you to do dumb things just to make some extra money. He CARES about people and has a genuine desire to want to take there pain away and get them well. 6 months ago I fell down some stairs and herniated 3 discs. Instead of surgery at a cost of $75,000 and about an 80% failure rate over 5 years on average. Dr. Barthen has this equipment that stretches your spine over a period of months. By doing that, my back has put the herniated discs back into place on there own with ZERO surgery and ZERO pain. These machines have a success rate of 92%. Far better than surgery and the cost difference was HUGE. He did it at a cost of only $5000 but I got a large discount for paying it all at the same time. I can't say enough about Dr. Barthen and his staff. Every one of them is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You may think this is to praise worthy and maybe I'm not a real customer but I can tell you I'm still seeing him and going on those machines. I'm down to 1 visit every other week. When you have had the kind of back pain I have had, you will praise his methods to as your pain goes away. If you want to see if I'm real and going to him. My next appointment is on Tuesday 2/25/20 at 4:30. I'll be on one of those machines. We can talk in person and i'll tell you the exact same thing face to face. Come and see me on Tuesday. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by Mary, Lyndsay, or Kyle with professionalism and kindness. Nelle Youel was my PT and she was fantastic! She knew when to push me and when to ease up. She gave me a tailored Home Exercise Plan to help me continue to therapy at home. By the time I had my follow up appointment with my surgeon she had me at 130° range of motion! My doctor was absolutely stunned and said that I had the best range of motion he had ever seen 6 weeks post surgery! I showed up 15 minutes early, at 3:30 for my 3:45 appointment, per my reminder text. I was invoiced my co-pay quickly, then asked to move to the waiting area. Along with a dozen other patients, we sat for over an hour. My appointment began at 5:10. After changing into their "shorts" and completing my radiographs, the MD came in at 5:20 to discuss my rads and was gone in 10 minutes. I understand a "short visit". There wasn't much to say at this annual. It's the wait time that was aggravating, especially when there was not a single apology nor even a lie like "he had an emergency". Maybe my next annual will be better.
