First, 5 stars is not enough, at least 10 stars. I could not sing the praises louder or longer…read moreregarding the care and staff at Encompass Health. I had no idea what to expect when I when I was sent to Encompass Health for rehabilitation after my neurosurgery. How fortunate I was to be treated at Encompass Health facility in Libertyville, IL. Everyone is treated respectfully and they truly care about your well being and want you to get well. The therapists encourage you and work with whatever your limitations may be to enable you to get well enough to succeed and meet your goals. Therapy is conducted in the gym. Everyone is rooting for everyone else including patients. The entire staff whether it be medical, therapeutic, food service, cleaning staff, and office staff always greet you with a smile and encouragement. I want the CEO, Gemma Fletcher to know (and I am sure she does) that the entire staff are rock stars, and their concern for the patients is genuine and sincere. I did not realize how much of an emotional high the ringing of the bell gave me when I finished therapy and was getting ready to be discharged. As much as I would love to call out by name all those that helped me during my stay, I regret that I may inadvertently omit some names. Please know how much your concern was important and instrumental in my recovery. Thank you all for everything you have done for me. The facility was run so efficiently that I NEVER had to wait for someone to respond to my call. The food was fresh and good. I never had to wait for medication, which was always on time, the correct pill, and dosage. Did I mention how beautiful the facility was? Not only beautiful but very clean. The staff was incredible, they always had a smile on their faces, which told me they were happy to work there. Physical therapy helped me to recover as quickly as I did. Everyone was very patient and took time to explain what I needed to do. The therapist stayed with me to make sure I was doing it correctly. After seeing the horrible facility in Streamwood, my sister-in-law is currently at, I realized just how lucky I was to have been at the best facility in the northern suburbs. Hands down, you can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs!!

Very good facility…read more.. My 86 year-old sister has been here for almost 2 weeks and I have been visiting her for almost a week. When I originally read the yelp reviews, I was horrified... I live in Tennessee and flew to Chicago to see what was going on and was extremely pleased at what I have found. Yes, it takes some time when they call for help for someone to get there because there are lots of patients Who call for assistance over and over and over and over because they have no family members of friends that are here helping. It actually could be a little bit cleaner, and it could be cleaned more often in the rooms and the laundry and linens could be tended to better for sure. I took my sister's clothes home and washed them and brought them back. The people, however, are amazing! Every nurse and every attendant and the staff have all been delightful... It's clear sometimes they are quite frustrated because the could benefit from improved processes, but they are very nice people. There is definitely room for improvement in the business processes, but if a loved one is here and friends or family are willing to participate, it all is quite functional and good. There's a Starbucks coffee in the facility, they make a good variety of foods here that are not only served to the patients, but are available for purchase to visitors, the sitting areas are delightful with lots of glass out onto very lovely landscapes. If someone has to be in physical therapy for a short time at a facility like this, there are plenty of opportunities for it to be a good experience.

Now the PT it self is very good but the stay is horrible. First, the rooms are pretty disorganized there was a wheelchair in her shower but it was not even her wheelchair. Second, my grandma was not given the medical care that she needed. Last, my grandma had medical emergency and had to leave. After she left they threw all of her belongings in garbage bags very roughly without even asking us when she would return. Some of her personal belongings were broken.

If you're looking for a place that is "pretty and modern looking", this isn't what you want. Money…read moreisn't spent on esthetics, paintings, chandeliers, modern office furniture or any other unnecessary item just to market the place to relatives. Those corporation owned nursing homes, and there are many, care about financial returns for their investors and paintings on the wall are a cheap way of getting relatives to place their loved one in their facility. Hillcrest on the other hand, is privately owned by a family who is still involved and are part of the community. The staff at Hillcrest is absolutely amazing and I'm perplexed how they are able to find people who obviously love the elderly regardless of their needs. So, if you think mom or dad would rather look at the nice paintings on the wall and sit in the lobby on modern furniture, Hillcrest isn't for you. But if you feel mom and dad would like to be in a well-kept and nice place and be attended to by the very best people who demonstrate real caring, Hillcrest is where you want to be. Fyi, do your research especially on Medicare.gov before you make decisions about nursing homes. Medicare does extensive inspections and reporting of all nursing homes and the results are on their website. You will find that most nursing homes do not meet or exceed the 4 stars that Hillcrest is given, a testament to the efforts that are put into the care they give the patients. But then again, Medicare doesn't grade on how much investors earn in profits by rubbing two nickels together and forcing managers to find the least expensive and fewest caregivers. Medicare doesn't grade on how decorated the place is as they know the esthetics are just for selling the family. Medicare grades on the caregiving! One other piece of advice, do your research on the nursing home ownership. If it would take a lawyer to do a forensic analysis of ownership through multiple shell corporations, walk away fast. Those homes will put their profits well ahead of your loved one without a thought. My mother went to Hillcrest at the age of 98 and at the time, failing in mental capacity and she was already limited physically. She is nearing the end and every day she has been there I have had nothing but absolute respect and appreciation for the staff at Hillcrest. The staff at HIllcrest are the very best you can find.

Despite being noticeably understaffed, she moved from resident to resident with remarkable patience and professionalism, feeding those who needed assistance, checking in with others, and maintaining a warm and positive attitude throughout. Her compassion and work ethic clearly reflect someone who takes pride in what she does. While I'm not an expert in this field, I do work in a very similar profession and deeply understand how much compassion, commitment, and emotional strength it takes to provide care for others. Nicole embodies all of those qualities. If the facility had more staff like her, or even just more staff support overall, each resident would receive the level of care they truly deserve. Due to the staffing ratio of approximately one CNA for every sixteen residents (based on timeframe of observation). In memory care, where residents often rely heavily on guided assistance, this level of staffing makes it difficult to ensure everyone's nutritional and emotional needs are met. It's evident that there have been positive strides at Thrive, and with continued improvements, particularly in staffing, the facility could deliver an even higher standard of care. Thank you, Nicole T., for your patience, professionalism, and heart. Your dedication made a lasting impression and brought comfort not only to the residents but also to their families who see your efforts firsthand. Overall Rating: 4 stars - due to staffing limitations. Staff Recognition: 5 stars - for Nicole T. and the hardworking team who continue to show care, compassion, and professionalism every day.
