My therapist, Mati Arndt, helped me recover from problems such as spinal fusion surgery, heart failure, and rotator cuff injuries. His knowledge of anatomy and how various parts work was impressive. He took time to ask about my symptoms, knew what they meant and used a variety of therapies to help me heal and get stronger. On top of that, he was welcoming and personable. In January 2024, I had my first broken bone due to a skiing accident. Having a broken tibia meant I was in a full-leg cast for about six weeks. After those six weeks, I was moved to a short-leg cast, and was referred to physical therapy to start range-of-motion (ROM) exercises. Never having been to PT, I did not know what to expect, but I saw this Athletico was close by, so I decided to try it out. I submitted a request for an appointment through their website, and received a call that same day from Elise. Elise was extremely helpful and ensured I got on their schedule right away. I started PT about two days per week, starting with ROM exercises, then moving on to weight-bearing, then running/jumping. All-in-all, since I did not have surgery, my recovery was much longer, but we got through everything starting in February, and I was discharged in October. I can't say enough great things about this Athletico location. I came in completely nervous about this experience, but Ryan and Mitch were able to calm my nerves immediately and they helped me along every step of this tough journey. Being in PT for eight months, you start to build a relationship with those helping you out, and that's extremely true when it comes to this Atheltico location - all the staff, from my physical therapist, Mitch, to the few sessions I attended with Ryan, along with the amazing assistants - Maggie, Olivia, and Maria who helped me along the way - I always felt like friends with all of them while I was here. While they maintain professionalism, they also ensure to treat you not just as a patient, but as a friend, and it's clear that they truly care and want to see you progress in the journey. While nobody really "enjoys" going to PT, I'd say the treatment, services, and staff at this location made me truly enjoy being there and working towards my goals of being back to 100%. From someone who came in on crutches and a knee scooter, doing exercises like moving my foot back-and-forth or picking up marbles with my toes, I'm now running, jumping, playing tennis again, biking, etc. I was even able to take a full walking tour through Italian villages and cities with no problem thanks to this amazing staff at Athletico. While I'm hoping I never have to come back in here (as I'm never trying skiing again), if I do have PT needs or know anyone who does, I will always recommend Athletico Lakeview East. I began working with Mitchell from Athletico after developing shin splints. It was an incredibly positive experience. First off, I was able to resolve my shin splints through the work we did together. Perhaps as importantly, Mitch was always so friendly and positive throughout our roughly two months of working together. The whole environment at this Athletico is really positive- you can tell that everyone that works there actually likes each other and is also committed to the work they do. I have just completed over 65 physical therapy sessions in approximately 7 months In February I sustained a severe injury which required the insertion of a titanium rod from above my knee to my hip. Following my release from the hospital I was required to go to a rehab facility for three weeks. After my release from the rehab facility, I had in home rehab for a month but I was still unable to walk without the assistance of a walker. In mid-March I contacted Athletico in East Lakeview because it was about one block from my home. They arranged to see me the following day. Justin was assigned to be my personal physical therapist. Given my relative discomfort and lack of progress for one and a half months, I was less than optimistic that I would ever be able to walk normally again. However, under Justin's supervision, I can now walk without the assistance of a walker. I don't even need a cane. At my age, this was no small feat. I found Justin to be very knowledgeable and motivating. There were many times when I thought I couldn't do any more, but he gave me encouragement to try even a bit more, without pushing me too hard. This location was not helpful at all. I emailed them in advance exactly what I was looking for. Instead of responding that they couldn't offer the manual therapy I needed at my appointment (after seeing my orthopedic surgeon and already having a list of approved exercises), they went ahead and accepted my appointment and charged about $200 for what was a complete waste of time. An ethical organization would have seen my email, responded that they couldn't do what I needed, and canceled my appointment in advance. I have since found another amazing local physical therapy organization that offers better service and quality care. read more

First off, my PT with them started in February and at that time I was able to have in person PT. For those concerned, they had a good program in place for "covid control". Frequent cleaning of surfaces, items would be cleaned before being placed back on the rack, and exercise machines would be marked as clean or marked as unclean after anyone used them. TLDR; I felt very comortable with their covid precautions, but I aint no medical professional so take it with this grain of salt. . My physical therapist was Stacie H. and boy howdy does she know her business. Within a short period of time I could tell that the pain in my elbow and arm was lessening and I was regaining normal mobility. She is great, attentive to details, and could really hone in on the specific muscle groups, tendons, etc that were having problems. I cannot recommend her enough. read more

Karen was my therapist and I cannot recommend her enough! I came in with intense back pain and throughout the course of a few weeks, my pain greatly subsided. When I was prescribed physical therapy for some new-dad-related problems, I ended up picking Athletico largely on the basis of its convenient location, but I was quite happy with the results. It's part of a mid-sized chain, and that brings with it a certain lack of intimacy; the several PTs usually work with two patients at a time, in staggered appointments, and there isn't a lot of privacy if that is important to you. And the insurance/billing end of things seems like it could be stressful if you have a complicated insurance situation. But don't be deterred. My PT, Beth Swakow, was great: Informative, effective, responsive, funny, and she always made time to get done what we needed to. After a couple months, I felt like a new man. read more

Athletico Lakeview East is amazing! I was in PT from September through the end of December after having surgery on my knee from a soccer injury. My Physical Therapist, Ryan, was excellent and very dedicated to helping me recover and get stronger to both get back to my normal self but also to prevent future injuries. He was very dedicated, attentive, supportive, and encouraging and definitely helped me to heal and get back to being able to run again (a huge goal of mine). The other physical therapists and staff there were also super great, helpful and friendly as well and made all of my many visits enjoyable and even though I was there for physical therapy, made them enjoyable and a fun and supportive environment to be in and around. I went to this location for 6 weeks for lower back and leg pain and had a fantastic experience! Not only am I feeling so much better, but the team was fun to be around. You can tell they all enjoy working with each other and each session flew by with great conversation and jokes. The facility was in great shape and each therapy tool was cleaned between every patient to make safety/Covid protocols the top priority. The physical therapist was incredible but when I first started the office manager said my insurance was going to 100% cover my first couple of weeks then did not follow up with me until I got a bill stating it barely covered anything. I would not have gone through with the treatment having known this, if you do, make sure to repeatedly follow up on what insurance covers / get exact cost before proceeding. read more

I was able to easily request a free consultation over a weekend with Athletico. By Monday morning I had an appointment scheduled for that same evening. Chris Corey was my therapist and he was great. He's very attentive and listens to your feedback and is an all around friendly guy (as was everyone that I encountered including the receptionist and intern). I went in for a free screening and dude, Chris was super personable and helpful. I even felt bad that was not a paid screening. Long story short, I accidentally hurt my shoulder and wasn't sure what it is. Didn't feel like going to the doctors so I went in for a screen to see if that's necessary and if I require PT. I showed up a bit late....and they are super understanding. I learned so much about shoulders like literally, went to the gym right after and followed his advice and it felt SO much better. My PT Chris C. did a fantastic job of diagnosing my problems and providing me exercises to work on at home throughout the week. I went to see Chris Young after achilles surgery. He was personally invested in my rehabilitation and healing. He listened and was responsive whenever I needed him. Lest we forget that he helped give me my life back. I've had recurring foot problems for 5 years and moved around quite a bit, so I've been to many physical therapists. Chris is hands down the best. If you're looking for physical therapy - this place is a great choice. In full transparency - I initially went to this location just to get the initial screening for my broken foot recovery fully planning on doing my therapy at a different location across the street from my house. I was so impressed with the Physical Therapist, the staff at large, the culture of the location and the teamwork philosophy that I decided to stick with this location for the totality of my therapy. Eric was a total pro talking through my injury, issues that I was facing, therapy goals and coming up with new, creative ways to strengthen my foot + ankle. Eric was great at assessing key issues with how my foot was healing and recommending treatments/exercises not only in the clinic but also at home. And the rest of the staff was very friendly - there is a great culture at this clinic where you can tell everyone that works there actually likes each other. Even though this location was a 10 minute bus ride away I never regretted the decision to stick at this location vs. going to the clinic across the street from my house. read more

Erin is the BEST physical therapist I have ever known. I had IT band friction syndrome and I was in such pain that I thought I would never feel better! This clinic is beyond amazing and I would highly recommend everyone to go here. I am a former division one soccer player and have had far too many surgeries and injuries through out my career. That being said, I went to this location and worked with Ryan weekly. He did a great job in helping me recover from years of stress and damage to my body. The main reason for going back to physical therapy was due to having double hip surgery over the summer. I have made a full recovery and am back to running and playing soccer just as I was before surgery. Due to prior injuries, there were many times Ryan had to accommodate exercises on the spot. For example: I was at physical therapy mainly for my hips but I have also had prior surgeries on my knees. When my knees were sore or hurting Ryan had to adjust exercises for me so that I could still increase hip strength without irritating my knees. He is extremely knowledgeable, attentive and accommodating. Ryan aside, all of the physical therapists and staff are great. The environment is very welcoming and I always looked forward to my appointments. The facility is very clean, and covid protocols are strictly implemented. I have been to over 10 different facilities and have had more than 20 physical therapists throughout my life. With all of my various physical therapy experiences I have had, this facility/location and Ryan have provided me the with most successful recovery and best experience I have ever had. DO NOT think twice about scheduling appointments here as I can promise you will not be disappointed!!! read more

I went to Athletico for physical therapy after ACL replacement surgery. The recovery and physical therapy takes many, many months, and I worked primarily with Beth who is fantastic. She is very knowledgeable and extremely good at her chosen profession. I saw her three times a week, and each time I saw her, she listened to what I had to say about how I was feeling and my recovery. When I wanted to be pushed, she pushed. When I wasn't up for it, she eased up. In addition, she has a great attitude and upbeat personality. I also saw Chris and Erin (sorry if I misspelled the name) when Beth was out and was impressed with both of them. This office has a great group of Physical Therapists and PT Assistants. I've worked with Eric for around a month and had my shoulder pain completely eliminated! I had chronic left shoulder pain for months after an injury that I couldn't find anything to do about on my own. After just three sessions, I haven't had any shoulder at all. I cannot speak highly enough of Chris Corey. He Is is knowledgeable and hard working. He's incredibly personable. I had fun rehabbing because he understood all my dumb jokes and references from TV movies and video games. Those aren't the only things Chris can talk about though. He is able to make deep and meaningful conversations with clients with all kinds of interests. One minute he's talking tv shows with me the next he's talking about homemade bread with another client. Over the past few months, I have worked with Chris Corey to rehabilitate my injured rotator cuff. From our first meeting on, Chris was highly professional and knowledgeable about the therapies that we would undertake. His recommendations were effective and efficient, and he was able to both answer my questions and provide me with the tools to learn how to care for my injury and speed my recovery independently. He is a very caring PT and always made sure I was doing well and progressing on my journey back to health. He is also super personable and it was a pleasure to see him weekly. I went to Athletico on Broadway for a couple of weeks last fall for help with a wonky sacroiliac joint that was making it very difficult for me to function. The PT quickly realized that I had a bigger problem--an arthritic hip on the same side, which was probably causing much of my pain. After seeing some x-rays, he sent me to a surgeon at North Shore Orthopedics, who replaced the joint in late January. After home PT, I graduated to outpatient care and returned to Athletico. Everyone there, therapists and techs, were totally professional and a delight to work with. They all worked together to take care of their patients, and treated each of us as individuals (not just "the left hip on table 2"). They were invariably cheerful and kind, clearly enjoying working with each other and with us. After 3 months of 2 sessions a week, I "graduated" today. Got a free t-shirt, too! I can't imagine a better experience, unless they develop some magic wand to waive away the need to actually do the exercises. read more

I have been seeing Eric for the past 4 months and he has done so much to help my broken leg. I had a broken tibia and fibula, and am so grateful I was able to work with him. I started seeing him 3 days a week, now I just see him once a week and I'm sad I only have one more session with him! He has been my light, my motivation, one of my biggest supporters and a huge proponent of healing for my recovery. My leg is back to 100% functioning, I wouldn't be where I am without him. I've been an athlete for nearly my entire life. I've had my fair share of injuries and, as such, an even greater deal of supervised recovery time. I started with Chris Y at Athletico in October following a partial patellar tendon tear and MCL sprain from volleyball. I could barely step up and down a 2 inch step. Yesterday I had my final session with Chris, in just about 4 months he has me back on the court. Not only are my knee issues alleviated, but he really focused on strengthening both of my legs as a whole to prevent future injuries. He even gave me suggestions on how to continue to build and maintain this strength on my own. The staff is super accommodating and friendly, the business hours can work with anyone's schedule and I would highly recommend working with Chris. read more
