Amazing facility. My daughter had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Gary and Ms. Lauren and was back to health in 4 short weeks!

As they were preparing to move, the less than helpful chunky guy up front along with his "interesting" frat girl or sorority sister to their new location, it was evident that Mr. Personality and Ms. Hot Mess were in way over their heads! The first time I showed up to meet with my therapist, they were confused and out of sorts. From phone calls going unanswered to what I later discovered were completely unreturned to a bit of an over the top effeminate voice using more S's than a snake, espousing that calls were returned and he/it could prove it while others in the background contradicted her, we knew it was time to take my business elsewhere! Not worth the drama! And of course, the business owner couldn't be bothered trying to save a customer as they truly cannot deal with people expecting to be treated fairly and with dignity. Lying in any way is reprehensible, but the types of lies the front desk staff attempted were so pathetic, they had to be called out here. When anyone is truly ignorant enough to state that they called you (without simply putting 2 + 2 together, realizing that every call is captured) and you can show them that in fact no call was made from them or received by you, it kind of deflates the case fairly quickly. How about just a simple apiology? Well...I'm glad they didn't tell the truth or have the owner return my call. I found a much more credible therapist with nicer facilities and far less crowding. It's a shame as CeCe, Anthony and some other therapists seemed like great people with solid futures. Then again, it won't be difficult to find a place with better leadership and a more caring and competent staff.

As I entered I was warmly greeted and directed to my cousin's room. The front entry way was clean, organized and well lit. His room was close to the front. It's a 2 person room- the room was small with a bathroom and a curtain as a divider. Both sides have a bed, tv, phone, night stand, chair and a wardrobe closet. The room was clean when I went. While there, I observed the nurse and 2 students come in to administer antibiotics intravenously. They introduced themselves, explained what they were doing and asked if we had any questions. They were friendly and communicative. Before I left, I used the public restroom. It was very clean. Now here is what the patient (my cousin) has shared with me- " all of the staff- CNA's, nurses, nurse practitioner, etc are very competent and nice. I have a wound that needs attention daily and at 7am every morning they attend to it. They use gloves and maintain a clean environment for me. All of the staff have checked on me, asked if I need anything and offered assistance. The social worker is easy to reach and I've left messages for the provider and she gets back to me in a timely manner. I have nothing bad to say. It's an awesome facility. A place I will return to if the need arises. The food is good- serving portions are smaller than what I'm used to but I'm sure I'm used to overeating. Overall I am quite pleased with the way I've been treated"

When I dropped off some of her belongings, everything was packed neatly in one suitcase: her nightgowns, slippers, bibles, her toiletries, and a few familiar comfort items from home. A few days later, I received a distressed call from her saying that her things had been thrown away and she had nothing left. Given her memory challenges, I called the facility for clarification. I was met with a dismissive and unprofessional response from a male staff member who said, "She has her things, and it's a lot of them," in a tone so indifferent it felt like I was being brushed off for even asking. I trusted the facility to tell me the truth and to help make sense of what my grandmother was experiencing. Instead, they used her memory issues, and my own understanding of them, as a shield to avoid accountability. When she was transferred to her new Adult Family Home, we finally opened the suitcase she left with. It was virtually empty. No clothes, no toiletries, none of the items I packed for her comfort. The new facility even reached out to us to ask why she had arrived with almost nothing. This wasn't just a mistake, it was a violation of trust. She only wore outfits given to her by the facility he entire time she was there, meaning there was no reason for anyone to have gone through her belongings at all. So where did everything, especially her clothes and perfumes, go? She could not have misplaced them as she physically cannot unpack or move her own suitcase. It seems as though someone at this facility went through her things, and instead of taking accountability, they dismissed both her and me. This is morally wrong. This is taking advantage of an elderly woman with memory issues and the trust of a family trying to believe the best of people. Do better--for the sake of the families who come to you vulnerable, and for the sake of the elders who rely on you for their basic dignity.

Afterward, my insurance paid $23. Then the clinic billed me $800. When I went back to ask them to honor what I was told--or at least work with me on price given their guidance--they refused. I asked about a self-pay option; they said no because my insurance had already paid $23. No flexibility, no ownership, no accountability. From my perspective, this is the definition of a bait-and-switch: reassure the patient about coverage to green-light the visit, deliver a token insurance payment, then dump the real cost on the patient and refuse to make it right. I left feeling misled and out hundreds of dollars for a "test" they weren't confident would help in the first place. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this practice to anyone. If you do go, get every "coverage" assurance in writing, ask for CPT codes up front, and verify directly with your insurer--because the verbal promises I received were worthless. I won't be back.

The ABA provider was accredited and experienced, and was instrumental in helping us get the school to work with us to make his accommodations help him to catch up to his peers in his development and skills. He has been fully matriculated with his NT peers throughout his schooling, and is doing amazingly well. The difference between when he started at A Brighter Ave, and now, is outstanding. For example, He had trouble with verbal communication, and reading, but now you'd never be able to tell that he ever had an issue. We'll be grateful for the help he received and the start he got at A Brighter Ave.

Brighter Ave. is nothing more then a day care center. We wasted a year and a half of our sons precious time at this place. Studies show the earlier children start quality ABA therapy the better. Makes a dramatic difference on how much the child will improve. Thats a year and a half we can't get back and our son is getting older almost ready to start school. Since we started at Life Skills Academy in Mesa 3 months ago He has made more improvement by far then he did at brighter ave in the year and half he was there. We can only wonder how well he'd be doing if he had quality ABA from the start. If I knew what I know now I would have left a lot sooner. I made a big sacrifice driving over a hour from our home and sat in the car all day waiting for him It was all for nothing. The BCBA's they hire won't stay because Ownership just cares about the bottom line $ and not the care of the children. They don't give them what they need. They have no ethics. The turnover rate for all employees at this place is horrific. My son had a new speech therapist every couple of months cause nobody wants to work there. They opened a new facility with a new business model. That would allow them to have more clients (more money) The daily schedule was changing and they promised they would accommodate my sons scheduling needs. I have multiple texts and emails promising they could and not to worry. I signed a document written by the staff agreeing to his schedule.
