STAR PT is THE "1 stop shop for all your body's needs!" 1st…read moresection of this review is "my story"; Skip to the end for other details about STAR PT. K, I'm a bit biased: I, myself, was a PT at STAR for 10 years. But, I'm a patient right now: bicipital tendinitis developed as a result of shoulder impingement/rotator cuff arthropathy. I couldn't use my arm worth squat, constant pain, and intense pain with attempted use. What I had tried/done failed. Grew very discouraged/depressed: Husband asked me when I was going to DO something about it (& stop complaining, lol). Saw my doc: He offered an injection, but I said, "PT first please, and I want to go to STAR." (don't want injections to jeopardize the integrity of my tendons, and STAR PT "only"!). Yes, a PT may need another PT to lift one up, illuminate the path, and lead the way to success! Highlighting Anthony for his awesomeness! I specifically requested Anthony because he was the only one who didn't "know me." I know the other therapists, and they are all excellent. In this case personally, I wanted to be "led" unbiasedly: without any consideration/assumption that I "should know" this or that since the others "know" I'm a PT. Visits 1 & 2 proved to me why you see a PT before injections/surgery: immediate positive impact! I experienced a set-back after the visit 3 - of the exact same nature as to why I was unsuccessful when I tried to rehab myself. Anthony got me past this in ways that I'd never thought of! Week 3: still progressing, and Anthony increased focus on other components of my body to ensure long-term success (YES, core/pelvic/hip/leg exercises for my shoulder problem!). 8th visit/re-evaluation: 80+% better! Able to swim freestyle without problems over 4th of July holidays, pain is SO much less (I can handle intermittent dull aching), I no longer hesitate to use my arm (though it's still quite weak), and I'm now asking questions about working out! Anthony is so awesome: He listens, instructs, educates, set goals, and puts the plan into place. Though (as a PT) I think I could "take over" independently at this point, I'm continuing because I want to return to 100% and want him to keep leading me to ensure success. I started a version of push-ups (um, 7 visits ago, this thought was ludicrous)! Anthony reviewed other activities/gym exercises to try (or avoid), reminded me of needed rest/recovery periods and signs of when to back-off/stop. I don't know if I'll need to update this review when I am 100%, because I'm now feeling like nothing's going to stop me from reaching my goals! & Yes, should I experience any "hiccup" from this point forward, Anthony will bring me beyond it (full confidence), but this is why I'm still going to STAR PT! My story, done. Extra info for y'all: More about STAR PT... Pilates classes Women's & Men's Health On-site fabulous Massage Therapist who's also a PTA Certified Hand Specialist OT (top 3% of BEST EVER) Custom hand/arm splints Custom foot orthotics ("PRI" orthotics - SERIOUS improvement in my son's athletic performance and overall life - he won't go anywhere without them, including independently transferring them to his cleats & back) McKenzie, ART, FDM, Postural Restoration, and more Dry-needling Cold laser, Infrared, Ultrasound, E-stim, Traction, BioMat Ancient Minerals Magnesium (oh, the incredible benefits of Magnesium!) Clinical center training student interns from accredited colleges Host site for continuing education courses Yeah, so OK to kinda call this a "plug" for STAR - but this review was not requested, not compensated, and ONLY because I LOVE THE RESULTS, STAR PT, and Anthony! Owner Jon Hupp (PT) is absolutely BRILLIANT. He's judiciously grown his business from the ground up, has poured in his heart & soul to make this the best out-patient practice possible, ceaselessly makes improvements/expands his/the team's education to be at the cutting edge, has/ensures an awesome environment & the equipment that's needed, and leads a team who's dedicated to the ultimate mission of maximizing YOUR life and potential!

I don't think words alone can describe the service and support I've received from Austin Sports…read moreMedicine, but I'll try :) I was in such severe daily pain back in December, and they were able to check me out right away during the Christmas break. Found out that I required physical therapy to learn how to walk and do my normal routine for work and photography for many months. I've always heard about how painful it can be but working with Kevin Craig almost every week now for 5 months has been a life changer. He really pays attention on my progress as I learn how to walk once more without pain, listening to week on when my pain flares up and when it does not. He adjusts my PT sessions when he knows to focus on new things to get back together. We were focused on walking and now that I can almost walk normal, we adjusted my plan to walk with carrying weight (which is important as a photographer). I really dreaded SXSW this year because of 2 weeks on my feet with my camera gear, but with my on-going PT, I was able to get through the fest and adjust how walking and weight carry with his advice! Oh, and one of the best aspects of the PT sessions is also working with Luke along side Kevin. They say laughter is the best medicine, and Luke combines humor with the specialized exercises that Kevin assigns to make the time go by fast. Both Kevin and Luke make my weekly PT trips to the South Austin location something to look forward to!

I can't understand why these people get good reviews unless they're planted or paid for ones,…read morebecause they don't know what they're doing, and are dangerous. A minor problem before is a major problem now, leaving these people liable for the damage they caused. When doctors say that they don't understand how incompetent people advertise as sports "medicine" practitioners and get away with doing permanent damage to people, that's really scary. So maybe instead of ignoring people whose lives are impacted by their screw ups, take the financial responsibility for the damage done and train people better, so that they don't do damage to anyone else. Avoid at all cost.
