After a car accident resulting in a head injury, I self-referred to the clinic as I saw that they had a concussion specialist. I was so lucky to encounter Jesse and to have his care throughout my 6 month rehabilitation process, leading me to regain full-functioning. I hated the lazer. I hated the maze. I hated the dot on the wall. And, I hated the restrictions of basically not using my brain. BUT... I followed the rules, stayed the course, enjoyed banter with Jesse and trusted him fully. The words "thank you" will never convey my earnest appreciation for all that he and his assistant, Katie, did for me. Their patience, passion, and precise knowledge restored my life to all that it was...and maybe even more. Thank you both, from the bottom of my heart. You both are jewels to this world. Thank you.

In the past 6 months, I have run 500 miles and plan on running 500 more (sounds like there's a song lyric hiding there-- I swear I didn't mean it!) in preparation for some races I have planned in September/October. I've done my homework on running form, seen probably dozens of YouTube videos and thought I knew what I was doing as far as running was concerned. I have a tendency to start cramping on my right leg and thought to invest the money into PT to make sure I was running correctly. And boy was it worth it! Right from the get go, Jessie identified the weakness in my right foot and from the video analysis we identified the issue-- the weakness caused my right foot to compensate by over pronating while I run. Seeing my foot almost collapse from the pronation was both eye opening and humbling. Jesse set me up with a few exercises in order to correct my gait and I'm grateful to have come in-- I'd like to correct my form BEFORE I put a ton more miles on it. My calves and ankles are also grateful! If you're thinking about undertaking any athletic endeavor, getting PT is well worth it. If you have had a history of pain or injury in the past, PT will help you with form and strengthening the weak links and the energy leaks in your exercises. And ESPECIALLY if you have pain, they'll try to work with your insurance so that you won't have to pay everything out of pocket. Thanks!

Jason (the other physical therapist) and the rest of the staff were awesome, too. I immediately felt the warm energy when I arrived for my first visit. Everyone is compassionate and professional. He customized my treatment and really listened to make sure the treatment plan addressed all my needs. I had some post-surgery complications and Cameron helped me through them like the pro he is. He has a confident presence and still maintains compassion. I drive from Gresham OR because I won't trust anyone else with my physical therapy needs. I highly recommend Cameron and Jason. I then had to wait to schedule this until the injection was approved by Moda. Moda approved Efflexa, a certain brand, but this place doesn't have it. So I had to do the work to call Moda, and even the pharmacy where the injection comes from called me, before I got an approval letter for it. ROC said that they don't carry what was approved. What??????!!! Even Moda was confused. I'm just going to go to another orthopedic. I can't even call to talk to someone. Whoever replies to the texts lacks customer service. It has been about two weeks since I was there!! So Moda said to try someone else. Funny, they mentioned to me that ROC advertised Euflexxa. Tell your employees then. I was so incredibly disappointed.

To our dismay he had developed necrotic skin (serious infection). The doctor picked off the dead skin, and had techs cast over it. No antibiotics and no show of concern. I originally went to this clinic to try to get a nerve block in order to see if a longer term ablation would be an option for my spine pain, and was instead pressured into having a steroid injection in my spine. As they offered zero other solutions I reluctantly agreed. On the day of the procedure, after knowing me for barely 7 minutes and refusing to meet with me the week prior to discuss my history of PTSD with medical procedures, Dr. Hatheway decided he did not want to do the procedure because he was afraid to work with a person who has PTSD with medical triggers and called off the procedure after I had already started the anesthesia protocol. He refused to provide a clear explanation or even let me finish a sentence before walking out of the room and slamming the door on me while I scrambled for my shoes and glasses, and essentially had me thrown out, having issued his pronouncement. If I'd been allowed to meet with him BEFORE the procedure as I asked at least 3 times, I would known in advance that he is not willing to work with women with PTSD, that he is arrogant, and that I wanted him nowhere near my body in a vulnerable state. I also would not have gotten my hopes up for a solution to life-destroying pain, my husband I would not have lost several hundred dollars in wages (neither of us gets paid leave) and I would not have had yet another traumatizing experience in the hands of a male physician who can't even be bothered to meet his patients before the procedure and does not make women feel safe in his care, especially previously traumatized ones. From the second that I met him he oozed arrogance and seemed to have zero regard for my needs or wellbeing. Go to this clinic if you enjoy being pressured into treatment you don't want, like doctors with the bedside manner of a sledgehammer, and want to be drugged heavily, then in that vulnerable state gaslit, and told to leave without receiving any real medical care or any explanation for this absolutely off-the-wall behavior. I am frustrated by the fact that I received no real medical care, but also horrified how close I came to letting these hacks stick needles in my spine. Read the other reviews, especially on Yelp, and you'll see that many who did go through with it have regretted it and left far sicker than they went in. Horrible clinic, horrible doctor, horrible experience. Stay away if you value your safety and your health.

Do yourself a favor and NEVER go here. On other reviews I've read terms like "churn mill" and "…read moreunnecessary injections. " I agree with these terms and have a few of my own to add. Rude, gaslighting, unethical, malpractice and insurance fraud come to mind. If you are hoping to even speak to the doctor performing your procedure, I can assure you that won't happen. If you are assuming you will be treated like a patient in pain and in need of medical care, that won't happen either. Dr Hatheway and support staff need to find a different line of work and should NEVER be allowed to interact or treat ANYBODY. EVER.

My wife has been seeing Michael for about a month and this is her first time going to physical therapy. I work with a lot of talented physical therapists, and my good friend and co-founder of Clinicient Jerry Henderson researched clinics in Portland to give my wife the recommendation of Portland Sports Medicine and Spine Physical Therapy. He chose them based on their background in the McKenzie spine techniques of manual therapy that are evidence based and provide results that have not only freed her from pain, but started the restoration of function after only a few visits. We have been elated with the results. From the initial experience of setting an appointment, to the reception by the front office staff, to the handling of our somewhat challenging insurance provider (United Healthcare), to the outcomes my wife has experienced, our experience has been nothing short of AMAZING. She injured her back and shoulder and was practically immobilized from the pain. She went to a chiropractor and massage therapists, and while those offered temporary relief from the pain, they did not address the core issues. Michael took the time to understand my wife's injury and did everything he could to fit her into a VERY busy schedule including making early morning appointments available and using his lunch break to treat her. He spends a full hour in hands on therapy and is focused on her goals and needs. This kind of service is rare in an era of declining reimbursement and insurance hassles. Michael is truly patient focused and skilled at what he does and the results speak to that. If you are having pain and think you have to live with it, think again! Find a therapist like Michael who is a true professional and focused on the needs of the client! This is the best experience ever and you won't regret it!
