NOT RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE WHO VALUE KINDNESS Before I tell my story, I want to acknowledge that I've been to physical therapy three times in the past for previous intensive sports injuries resulting from wrestling and cross country. I also volunteered as a student athletic trainer for four years in high school. On 07/16, I chose to try AMI Physical Therapy to rehabilitate and resolve tightness in my upper back and calves because of the reviews and the proximity to my residence. When the time arrived for my appointment, I stood outside the door for 10 minutes, as they didn't provide me (beforehand) with the door code (which is required) to enter. During that time, I called the number listed on the door as instructed, but received no response. I was only able to enter when a mail delivery person let me in. Next, when it was my turn to consult with my physical therapist, Aaditi Gokhale, she was extremely rude to me throughout the entire process. As someone with ADHD, I have to remind myself to slow down, and Aaditi politely mentioned this once. After that, I made a conscious effort to slow down, reiterate my thinking, and keep my responses concise. However, she remained extremely condescending and dismissive of my concerns. Before we went through the consultation process, I explained my intentions and goals with PT, specifically that I was seeking muscle release, scraping, etc. She immediately laughed it off and said those were just temporary fixes. While I understand her perspective, I mentioned that I have lists and numerous resources for strengthening my muscles, as I know my body well and how to accommodate it, and was really just looking for this aspect with PT, yet she insisted she knew better and essentially dismissed my input as invalid. She became visibly irritated when I used terms like trapezius or labrum tear shoulder, seemingly perceiving it as if I thought I knew more than her. While the consultation process was demeaning and insulting, I shrugged it off and was still ready to proceed with PT. But again, she was completely impatient, rude, and belittling, explicitly saying, "Did you not watch what I did?" in a very condescending manner and adding, "I am only going to show you this once." This was extremely irritating, yet I still treated her with respect and professionalism. On 07/17, I called at 8 a.m. to reschedule one of my appointments, as we had booked out six weeks in advance. I was able to reach the office quickly and successfully change the appointment. I also wanted to ask a quick question about the focus of future visits and whether we could leave a note about my original request for muscle release and scraping. I was put on hold and transferred to Aaditi Gokhale. I greeted her and began to express my concerns, but before I could finish, she said, "Say that again," followed by, "Is this important and urgent right now? Because I need to go." I replied, "No worries, I just wanted to leave a note. I didn't know I was being transferred..." but she cut me off and said again, "Is this important? I don't have time right now." After that interaction, I was truly baffled by how rude she was and decided to cancel all my future appointments. Even though the location is within a five-minute distance from my residence, this experience was so disappointing that I would rather find another clinic that is actually willing to listen and accommodate my needs instead of handing me a pre-printed sheet of exercises I could have found online. Based on my observations this day and my interaction, this location would probably be beneficial for older adults on simple muscle strengthening exercises, but for younger, intensive athletes (I am 21), this is not your place. I'm sorry to the other physical therapists at this location, who are probably phenomenal people to work with, but this experience with Aaditi Gokhale, was truly upsetting. Thank you. read more

I have had 10 joint surgeries and had extensive experience with physical therapy. My one experience at ATI, the university location, Seattle experience I could not imagine worse therapists have no idea what they were doing, worse management, worse treatment, my therapist was incompetent and a homophobe. research on the Internet quickly disclosures of the company is mismanaged financially, in violation of rules and regulations, as in numerable complaints against it for its business patches and therapeutic services. Quickly research and you will find that there is a page dedicated to complaints against ATI with the Better Business Bureau. ATI Physical Therapy - Avoid ATI - Physical Therapy Near Me - Seattle, Washington

The PT care was fine but the office took a copay for 9 weeks despite me indicating I'd likely met my out of pocket max for the year of the year. When I discovered this, the billing department said their expedited refund would take 30-45 days. So, since it came out of my FSA account which is use or lose it by the end of the year, I had to pay my surgeon bills with non FSA ( out of my pocket) funds. They had over 3 weeks to get it back to me but didn't care. read more

The actual PT care was fine but nothing to write home about. Later did I find out that if I paid out-of-pocket it would be $120/hr for a session, which is normal. However, since I paid via insurance they billed Anthem $300-600/hr for the same exact services, which then led to having to pay $150-200 per session. What a rip off, would recommend a) not using ATI ever or b) not going through insurance since they are doing nothing more than over-charging for the bare minimum of what I'd expect from a PT. read more

I was rear ended last year and almost no one would take my case. My attorney suggested ATI since they can handle third party claims. I called everywhere hoping to "choose local" and thinking ugh they're a corporation. So happy I went here. I've used Shannon and Megan. As a Bodyworker I'm amazed at Shannon's ability to access structures and Palpation as well as her capacity to make up crazy useful exercises. I love Megan's attention to detail and wealth of knowledge. Dustin and Shawn are great at helping me at the front desk. All the appointments post accident can get overwhelming. PT assistants Molly and Michelle are sticklers for form and pay attention to your body mechanics to make sure your getting it. No ego at this clinic; 100% client focused. I went here for 5 months after I developing bad lower back pain. Shannon was an amazing PT, she taught me a lot about why I was having pain and how to relieve it. I have now been able to go back to the gym and can sit comfortably at my desk at work without needing ibuprofen or a heating pad. She's also just a lot of fun to chat with and made PT a really pleasant experience. The rehab tech's in the gym were also extremely friendly and encouraging. They push you just enough to make you work but don't make you uncomfortable or miserable, which is a nice feeling when you're exercising. I would also add that the front desk staff are lovely, always greeting me with a smile. Everyone at ATI gets to know your name and it really makes something that could be awkward or painful a pleasant experience. They have a really flexible schedule and availability, which made scheduling so much easier. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a PT office. read more

I have been going to ATI physical therapy now for 3 weeks and I have enjoyed every moment. The cast there is great and seem to be very concern about a person's well-being. I am now a little bit more agile and I am able to do things physically like running and jumping. I was not able to do such activities when I first Started. My experience at ATI has been incredible. I have been a patient for 8 weeks and am nearing the end of my treatment. The PTs are knowledgeable and attentive. When exercises aren't comfortable, they get creative with you and do whatever it takes to help you progress. The PT techs are fun and personable. As someone with a rare disease it is always tricky to find providers that understand my experience and treat me with respect. I had a fall that caused extensive pain and discomfort throughout my body. I had just moved and it was time to start with a physical therapist in my area anyway, so I set up an appointment. At our intake appointment they asked me questions about my body and what kind of pain I experience. They made a comment that they were hearing "hyper vigilance" from me. No, it's just that my disease causes different types of pain and it varies from place to place. I was trying to help them learn my body so we can successfully work together and this felt demeaning. There were numerous comments that made me feel judged for my pain, like it's my fault. They didn't address the acute issues that resulted from my fall. When I asked at the very end of my appointment what could be done to help my immediate circumstances they had nothing to offer, adding "I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear." Well yeah, I came here for help because I'm out of work and struggling. His attitude just seemed off and I think he should have sensitivity training on how to work with disabled/chronically ill people in a way that feels respectful. read more

I have been a patient at ATI U District twice now, about a year apart, once for a back issue (PT Matt), and most recently for a shoulder issue (PT Megan). Both times, I have been amazed with how awesome the therapists and support staff are! They are very knowledgeable and kind. They make you work, but make it fun at the same time. I used this location for my PT and it was disastrous. They put me in the hands of a PT called Amanda who was incompetent and had awful bedside manner. Even though I told her my doctor said I had frozen shoulder, she had me try a new exercise 30 times in one session. I got out of there and my arm couldn't move. It took 2 weeks of PT before I could move my arm again. I asked the manager of the University center, since it was his PT's fault that I lost 4 sessions which were wasted on getting my arm back to the way it was before Amanda made me overdo that new exercise, that they should replace those 4 sessions without charge. He and the ATI HQ refused to honor my request even though it was their PT's fault. Another employee at the University center, her name is Shawn, she also has a nasty and unprofessional manner and tone. Their parking situation is also very difficult. All said, I would not recommend the University District ATI for PT because they are unconscionable. They refused to acknowledge that their PT was wrong in ignoring the fact that my frozen arm was not ready for 30x of that new exercise. Clearly, they don't care about patients, they care more about their profit. By the way, I had posted the foregoing negative review in July and Nov 2018, but looks like at some point either ATI or Yelp removed it. After my bad experience with ATI, I changed my PT to a new PT center. When the new PT center asked me for my medical file from ATI, ATI only provided partial records. I had to call and threaten them that I would take legal action if they don't release my entire records to the new PT center. Looks like besides providing poor service, they also respond to records request only if legally threatened. read more

I've had physical therapy for my leg now several times. I broke my leg in a serious bicycle accident and have had multiple surgeries to repair it. I've tried a few other physical therapy places and ATI is my favorite by far. My therapist Shannon has been awesome. She not only provides the physical side but also the mental therapy as well by providing the motivation I need to keep going. Molly, Holly and Dustin are also great motivators have helped guide me through the processes of healing. The ladies at the front desk are always very helpful and professional. I still have a long way to go but with the help of all the staff at ATI I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I highly recommend ATI for all your physical therapy needs. I can't praise Olympic Physical Therapy and Eric enough for helping me recover from a painful bulging disc in my low back. Eric has a no-nonsense, flexible, and informed approach that validated my pain and created a plan that would work for me and not make the pain worse at a time when it felt like everything else did. The whole staff here is kind and upbeat- even the exercise specialists who help with the exercises the PT give were attentive and skilled. Dealing with ongoing, chronic pain was a new experience for me and I felt like I had tried everything before I came to OPT. I wish I had tried here first. I better understand the benefit that comes from core strengthening and plan to use the exercises Eric gave me for life. Finishing up 3+ months of therapy for a bad back and sciatic pain, I have nothing but excellent things to say about Olympic Physical Therapy. Michele was my physical therapist, and was just super through out. She was professional, direct, and extremely helpful. Michele really listened to my situation and was able to provide relief for the back pain from day 1. Your mileage may vary, but I would see these folks (especially Michele) again in a minute. A word of warning about seeing a physical therapist: you get out of it what you put into it. Going once or twice a week and not doing the exercises won't cut it. The real work happens not during your weekly or bi-weekly visits, but in your exercises at home. If you do the work as prescribed, i.e., once to twice a day, you should see steady improvement. If not, don't expect results. In an earlier review, Just Y gets most of it right, but misses the point about working with the exercise specialists in the "back room". The specialists are there to help you with the exercises prescribed by the therapist: make sure you understand what is involved with each exercise, make sure your form is correct, observe whether you are having problems doing the exercises and answer any questions you might have. You shouldn't need special equipment to do the exercises at home, so there's no need for a lot of exercise equipment in the back room. I didn't work with -all- of the specialists, but quite a few: Emily, Joanna, Chris, Shelley and Colleen. Each was competent, courteous, and not afraid to tell you if you needed to tweak your form. If the specialists are "just college students", Olympic seems to have a good selection and training process for their exercise specialists. I would have not problem working with any one of those folks or any new folk Olympic has in the back room. My internist said that Olympic Physical Therapy does a good job in working with folks having back pain. She's right. Use these guys (and gals). read more

I have been a physical therapy patient at Olympic Physical Therapy to address three issues over the past five years and have been helped by three different therapists. Each time I have come away so impressed by the level of patient care offered. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the Physical Therapists, to the gym exercise staff strike just the right balance of friendly professionalism and helpfulness. Each of the three therapists I've seen has diagnosed and successfully treated me. As a patient, I have also appreciated the obvious and clear staff protocols that are followed. After one-on-one time with the PT, I have found it especially helpful to work with the exercise staff in the gym to ensure that I'm doing the assigned exercises correctly. Without fail, the gym staff is courteous, encouraging, and attentive to detail in carrying out the exercises assigned by the therapist. I wouldn't go any other place for PT after my positive experiences there. read more

Carly Peterson at Olympic took great care of me and helped me get my lower back pain under control. Due to the limits of my health plan, she had a limited number of sessions to get it done. She worked on me, and she also taught me several exercises to strengthen my core and stretch muscles and ligaments that are pulling things out of alignment. Unfortunately, with the diagnosis I had going in, she wasn't able to spend enough time on my hips, and now I'm learning that my limited flexibility in hips and hamstrings are also contributing factors. I suspect that this is another one of those things that western medicine is not really equipped to cope with, which is why so many people get addicted to Vicodin for chronic pain relief. read more

I recently had physical therapy done on my lower lumbar after I a severe strain of my back from throwing a discus. I have enjoyed everything about the experience. I had a great physical therapist that understood issues related to track and field athletes. The staff I worked with on doing my daily exercises were equally terrific. After four weeks of following their guidelines i feel as good as new. The also have an "athletic engineering" program that should help me prevent injuries in the future. Eric, Maeva and the staff at Olympic PT have been integral to my recovery from an unusual trauma accident. I tried Olympic physical therapy after a recommendation from my Sports and Spine Specialist. I have since found this facility to be well respected with many other medical professionals I have encountered. When my accident happened I tried another therapist group with bad results. As soon as I started treatment at Olympic, I saw immediate improvements in my mobility and strength. Eric worked with me on my low back to alleviate pain, provide strength mobility and helped me achieve all my personal recovery goals. Maeva carefully and professionally treated my neck injury; I haven't had problems since, for which I am truly grateful. In addition to the Therapists, I have found the assistant exercise staff to also be highly trained and knowledgeable. They had the ability to troubleshoot and modify exercises to help clients remain pain free. Most importantly they don't let you cheat, and focus on form and continual strength progression.
