This is a nice nature park that encompasses wooded trails, and a lot of green space that can serve as a multi use field. There is an ample amount of free street parking available. The park is managed by the Atlanta Memorial Park Conservancy who main focus of the parks conservation. At 199-acres, the park is Atlanta's 3rd largest park and is located among Buckhead's Memorial Park neighborhood. The park somehow claims the Bobby Jones Golf Course and Bitsy Grant Tennis Center. It runs along the Peachtree Creek and is a memorial to those who died in the Battle of Peachtree Creek You will see a small memorial called Debbie's Place, in the front of the park, that honors Debbie Felker. This is a nice low key park that sits low in a ravine. As I mentioned, the park is not short on green space that could be used to play field sports such as soccer, football, and baseball. You could also fly a kite, have a picnic or play catch there as well. The park has a lot of shade. You will find an outdoor seating area with tree stumps that looks like it it used for learning. There are also a few picnic tables and benches to sit as well. It should be noted that the park is in a floodplain, so it floods during heavy rains. The park has a playground area, that is on a bed of wood chips. There are toddler swings, a large net climber structure, a play structure with slides, tunnels, and bridges, a saucer swing, and ADA/traditional swing, a 4-person see-saw, and a a large play structure with a bunch of tall slides, monkey bars, bridges and a canopy. There is also a small slide structure for the littles. The equipment is a bit older, but still in decent shape. The park hosts events such as Sunday Sweets in the park!, Memorial in Motion, and free tree tours. This is a nice park with a paved path that is popular among walkers/joggers and those walking their dogs. There are also wooded/nature trails to trek as well. I like this park even though it is lacking amenities such as a restroom, basketball courts and is not modernized. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I've visited Atlanta Memorial Park with my kids while in the area twice. It's got street parking and the spots near the playground can get pretty full, but the playground has a ROLLY SLIDE, so it's totally worth looking for a spot! I really like the playground structures here. There are things for little-littles (toddlers) and older kids. There are nature walks near a creek. There are picnic benches and kid swings. The shade + sunshine combo feels relaxed and welcoming. This is just a great place for a picnic with the kiddos. read more

I paid for a plaque over 13 months ago for my fiancé grave and it's yet to be installed over $2100 and will not answer my phone calls and return my phone calls! I'm gonna be posting this daily until it is done and it's also on Facebook daily until it is done. I don't recommend this to anyone. I thought I reviewed this after Luke's first venture there earlier this summer! Shame on me for not updating sooner. This is a great park, as I already reviewed- but it is especially good for dogs because it is usually uncrowded (think mostly a few families and joggers, so very different than Piedmont or Chastain) and great for a lazy picnic with your pup like we did on Memorial Day weekend. Nice playground. A small number of picnic tables but if you're like me, take a blanket and unfold all your goodies - this trip it was the Sunday paper and some snacks. There's lots of parking on the street on all sides of the park, which is nice. With the weather getting a tad cooler, we will have to return soon! read more

Come to find out I have 4 Huge parks in my area, I found this park by luck. That's right I got lost made a u-turn and walla It was starring me in the face. I was so dumb founded. It's like a hidden gem. Great park for kids, running and bringing your fur babies to. One thing that I'm not sure about is if you can let your dogs off leash, though I have seen dogs off leash. One HUGE problem though, is BEWARE of TICKS. The ticks that I have seen at this park are the size of roaches. SERIOUSLY, just make sure you give your pet a good brush through after a run or walk. read more

Memorial Park is a great neighborhood park. The loop around the outside of the park is around 2 miles, and there's always someone running/walking/walking the dog, so even though it's on neighborhood streets instead of sidewalks, it feels like it's designed for activity. Additionally, if you run by Bobby Dodd up and around to Peachtree Battle and back down, you've got yourself a nice loop with hills to practice. If you run these hills on a regular basis, you'll be prepared for any race course in the city of Atlanta. There's a playground for the kids, they host boot camp here for the dinks, and the dogs love the open spaces by the creek. The only downsides would be that there aren't sidewalks (so you end up running on the neighborhood streets where there are cars, and following that, you're parking on the street in the way of runners and walkers), and there have been some unfortunate safety incidents, so even though it's a swanky neighborhood, it's best not to run alone. read more

Adorable park perfect for a run or walk after work. There's a cute playground and several different trails (one goes along on the main road, while the other ones loop through the middle of the park). One thing to keep in mind, there are no restrooms, so plan ahead. It can also get quite muddy after a few days of rain, as previous reviewers have said. This park is my g This park is my go-to place when I want to go for a run. I've been plagued by shin splints and knee problems since I was in elementary school, making running on concrete a big no-no. I also hate and get bored running in place on a treadmill like a hamster, so that isn't really an ideal option for me either. When I recently decided to start running, I knew I had to find a spot with a dirt or rubber track. I luckily happened upon Atlanta Memorial Park when I got lost driving home in the rain one day - in my defense it was an intense downpour with little visibility, so mistakenly taking the wrong turn wasn't so unreasonable. Turns out this little park is very close and convenient to where I live and has great running and walking trails. It is a small park, but the trail I use goes around the circumference of the park with a few turns through pretty wooded areas to keep things interesting. One lap is about a mile and includes pretty views of Peachtree Creek and lush vegetation. Some parts of the main outer trail go off into wooded areas, so if that makes you uncomfortable, it is easy to stick to the road and follow it back around to the trail once it comes out of the woods. Like I send, I tend to get bored while running, but this trail keeps me interested and makes me feel like I am jogging through the woods in some areas. It makes going for a fun pretty fun. I should say, about 1/4 of the trail consists of concrete when you have to run on the sidewalk along Peachtree Battle, but otherwise it is all either grass, dirt, or rubber, which is great news for my shins and knees. More importantly, as a woman running alone, the park is always pretty populated - it seems to be the weekend workout spot for people living in the area - but not busy to the point that the trail is packed with people and unenjoyable. I feel safe enough to go out there alone and run the main trail that goes around the outside of the park next to the roads. There is a trial that leads into the center of the park that looks beautiful, but is wooded, and seems more secluded so it makes me cautious about exploring it on my own. If you're looking for some new scenery for your run or walk, I recommend you check out this park! The only downside is the portion of the trail that is concrete. Also, if you feel uncomfortable running stretches of the trail in somewhat secluded areas, then you may want to bring a work out buddy. Additionally, it can get pretty muddy after a rain storm, so it might be a good idea to give the trail a chance to dry out after a storm if you're worried about getting dirty. The park also has what looks to be a pretty good size play-ground, but since I haven't played on a play-ground in probably 20 years, I can't really speak to how fun it is. The kids I see out there always seem to be having a blast though! o-to for runs. It's great for those of you that, like me, prefer not to run on concrete. read more

This is a great place to go walking with the pup and still feel very safe & secure. My dog loves it and I always see other runners/walkers with their pups (and kiddos) in tow. There's fun playground equipment if you have children. Check it out! read more
