The team there was helpful from the initial telephone call. Haha, I purchased a fountain from them 2 years ago (the tool time Tim) in me decided to install myself. It did function for a while, then stopped functioning. So I decided to call the Atlanta Garden, they were super responsive and actually took more than the 5 minutes, I estimated in my mind to fix. This place is SO cool!! Til today, I had no idea it even existed. After lunch with a friend at Taqueria del Sol on Cheshire Bridge, he wanted to take me over to AWG to see the cool fishies and all the other neat stuff they have. It is one of the most soothing and neat places I've been in ages! From Voluspia candles (one of my favorite, best-smelling brands in pretty pretty tins) to the amazing fish ponds . . . to the nice people . . .to the random and cool owl, frog, etc garden statues and planters . . . what a fun place! My friend likes to sit and watch the fish in his own pond at home and finds it relaxing to pay a visit to AWG when he's in the area. Atlanta Water Garden's (AWG) is the go to company for all things ponds and fountains. We have been landscaping our backyard in stages for years. Just as the project finished we faced a winter kill a few years ago so we needed to do a complete redesign. What we missed in our original design was a water feature(s). Working with Atlanta Water Garden's, they helped us plan for a water feature. We installed the first fountain in the landscape and love it. Since the we added another fountain and are likely to install two more. It is impossible to rate AWG anything below a 5. They are rock stars, literally. read more

Their customer service is severely lacking. I bought a replacement pump for my fountain. I showed them a picture of the pump that died. They recommended a pump that was about 25% the size of the other pump. They said I could easily install it myself. After spending $200 for a plumber to install the new pump, it did not have enough power to run the water over the fountain. I called to say that the pump that they recommended did not work properly. What I wanted was for them to sell me the bigger pump and give me credit for the one I already purchased that did not work. Their answer was we do not take back pumps "unless we installed it." Sounds pretty unethical to me. read more

This place is hit or miss. Either you will have an awesome experience with excellent customer service (and maybe a visit with one of their store cats) OR you will be treated very negatively by staff members. I've experienced the negative version of visits more frequently than the positive. However, I will say the positive experiences have been so good that I do continue to go back to roll the dice. From reading the negative customer service reviews, I'm sure the majority of the negative feedback is from this one guy. I have complained about this employee to management and fellow workers. We were first time customers earlier in the year... we can't say enough about a few of the employees there: Ricky and Kevin especially... And Randall the owner was absolutely wonderful... Owner- Randall: A+ Ricki and Kevin: A+ Jennifer: asked us to take our business elsewhere Kelly: "gatekeeper" horribly rude Backstory; We bought a water fountain and lots of other beautiful accent items from Atlanta Water Gardens to put on our back porch... bonus; The water fountain was on sale We love it! But unfortunately we did have some initial issues with the fountain-which Randall graciously come out a few times to help with the lights and a few other things to ensure the fountain was working properly... We called one more time because we were having a little bit of a similar issue... And unfortunately Kelly answered the phone- he proceeded to tell us that essentially they were not going to come out again; that they were losing money on this fountain - that it was already on sale; and they would just come pick it up...he was incredibly rude. ... shocking that he would take a tone like that... Quite frankly... We bought the product in good faith... sale or no sale- and would expect that it would work properly... Frankly we didn't care that you were losing money on it-and how dare that be your response Kelly! We asked to speak to Randall and or leave a message... Kelly proceeded to tell us that we would have to go through him to get that done... Needless to say we never heard from Randall... We are sure he never got the message... We got the fountain fixed from somebody else... We still love the fountain.. Months later- because we do want to patronize small businesses; because we really do have a fondness for the shop itself and its employees and owner -everyone else there is really very kind... We sent a Facebook message asking someone other than Kelly to call us... About a possible pond in our yard... Never heard anything... It's been weeks... Kelly must be manning the Facebook messages... Super disappointing--- Again- Beautiful Shop-amazing Owner... Welcoming place... Really nice employees... If we could have gotten past "kelly the gate keeper"... I rushed to Atlanta Water Gardens when I saw that the fish in my pond were dying. The staff there was extremely helpful. They walked me through every step of what I needed to do to save the remaining fish. The pond is now clear and beautiful. This is now the place to go for all my pond issues. read more

I've been a customer at this store for many years before. When I had to replace a container water garden, I chose this store for a birdbath/fountain. The item was heavy cast concrete and worked beautifully for about 2 weeks, and then the pump started only intermittently working despite cleaning and other troubleshooting. I immediately contacted the company and they kept taking messages, but I never heard back from them. More weeks went by and I recontacted the store to ask whether I should return the fountain. That's when I heard back from the owner that I would scheduled nearly 2 weeks out for a maintenance visit. About a week later, the fountain sprung a leak at the area where the pump cord enters. In my attempt to load the defective fountain into my SUV, the top cracked. The store owner essentially said "bad luck, nothing we can do now, but we'll give you a 20% discount on a replacement". So, nope. I get where the final damage was my fault, but the product they sold me was defective from nearly the moment I purchased it. Great way to stand behind what you sell and take care of customers. Not a good way to do business. I gave one more star because the store staff are pleasant and helpful. Just expect every purchase you make here to be as-is and don't count on any support or returns. If you read some of the other negative reviews of this business, you'll also see that this isn't an isolated issue, but a routine business practice. read more

Really disappointed in the customer service here. My husband and I are novices at water gardening and asked for some tips on how to deal with yellowing water hyacinths. The response we got was a lackadaisical "don't have a clue." When I asked why the plant beds were empty, the answer was "because we don't have any." Although explanations came after we asked for more info, the answers were a real turnoff for people who need help learning about this past-time. Won't be giving them my business. I will go somewhere where they actually care about me as a new customer. read more

This store has a nice selection of plants, well marked - although frankly, I haven't gone to any other pond stores, so perhaps that's standard? And I prefer to buy local - for those reasons this is 2 stars instead of one. I second/third/fourth other reviews on this page about the poor attitude of the employees. In my case, it also demonstrated to me poor knowledge of plants. I was in the other day, looking around, as a little side trip to the yummy International Bakery in the same complex. I just has a swale created to capture water runoff in my hilly yard - very excited about that! A swale essentially creates big dips that collect water and then water berries and other high water things below. The trench itself needs "high water" plants that can handle the trench filling. The company I worked with suggested bog cranberry, bog sage, lots of clover to fill initially, and I'll add swamp milkweed.I trust the company that worked with on it, and have been very pleased with their advice... I didn't explain all that to these staff - just said I had a swale, looking for plants that could be in the earth but handle lots of water. I mentioned my cranberries. I asked for advice on what plants might work - what to look for. The response was - "I don't think cranberries grow in Georgia." Not a nice voice - very rude and dismissive. He was sure of it because Walter Reeves said so. I still wanted info, so I asked about plants - still pretty dismissive - the behavior was so poor! I didn't stay long, but as I was leaving, he again told me that Walter Reeves made it clear cranberries don't grow in Georgia, as though I was a complete rube. With someone being so nasty, I definitely was inspired to check out his information. Why is the best information a professional gardening company giving me coming from Walter Reeves? I have nothing whatsoever against WR, but if you are a professional and referring to him and not to experience or your learning, AND being dismissive of customers at the same time... I expect a company to have their information straight!! Of course, I went home to research because the know it all attitude got under my skin.Yup, WR gives about 2 sentences saying he doesn't recommend them. That's it. On the other hand, the local Decatur Perimeter College that has an amazing native plant sale every year and native plant garden-- one of their writers has posted an extensive and thoughtful article on growing cranberries here and mentions some growing at that garden. And watering my garden cranberries last night (they are new and need supplemental water in this heat to root well) I noticed that my cranberries come from that Yankee stronghold known for its bogs and cold weather - good ole' Shelby County, Alabama! I don't expect every staff person to know stuff about every plant, especially if its outside their expertise. But don't rely on a single Walter Reeves article and be nasty and dismissive, when really, you don't have the knowledge or experience. And if you do have the knowledge and experience, share it gracefully with others. Side note - the plants struck me as fairly expensive, but again, I haven't visited many water plant stores. Compared to standard nurseries for ground plants.... yes, pricy. If I had to buy a plant here because I just couldn't find it anywhere else, I would - but I really will be looking for a local (or even corporate) alternative when I come back to looking for water-happy plants I'll need for future projects. I really hope these folks become kinder and more customer service oriented in the future. read more

Not only was the work done to my complete satisfaction, but the price was reasonable and I learned a lot about maintaining my pond. This place has terrible customer service and I wouldn't shop here if someone paid me to. Robert was extremely rude and talked to me as if every question I asked was stupid and unreasonable. After contacting other companies in the Metro Atlanta area I was given excellent customer service and decided to call back and give feedback on the customer service that I received from Robert in comparison to other similar businesses. I then talked with Kevin; he was very friendly and knowledgable. I then asked Kevin if the manager was there and asked to talk with him. I made the manager aware of my experience with Robert and initially he seemed as if he was making excuses for Robert's rudeness as if the questions I asked didn't make sense when I called other people and received a direct response. I asked the owner if he was aware of their terrible reviews. The owner apologized and stated that he would talk to Robert about the situation. I don't think the owner is aware of how bad customer service can and will have an impact on his business. read more

I was in today and had the rudest customer service experience I have had in a long time and certainly my last visit here. I came in looking for pond fish. The guy behind the counter asked a tall blond man to help me. I was the only customer in the AWG. The containment area had two sizes and varieties of Comet fish. One type was $23.85 each and the other was $9.95. I asked what the difference was and he said, " the more expensive are solid gold." I pointed out a couple of fish and asked if they were the $9.95 ones. He acted so exasperated and reiterated his solid vs variegated response. So I pointed one out that was black and gold and he netted it. When he pulled it out it seemed to be larger than average and I asked him to confirm it was $9.95. It wasn't and he rudely gestured at the price sticker. So I then asked, "is the price distinction large versus smaller?" This would have been a simpler way to distinguish them. But by then I was so disgusted with his patronizing attitude that I left empty handed and vowed never to return even though I had bought all of my pond supplies and fish here. I have vowed to never give my business and money to people who can't be civil and helpful. I am the customer and not a fish expert by the way. We are apparently not wanted at AWG. Something "stinks" with AWG and it's NOT the fish. read more
