And it's easy to find your way around this airport with only 3 gates. One of the most exciting things was when Friedman started offering direct flights to ORD. We've had directs via United for a few years now and as of this year American too, which makes it way easier for us to get to Sun Valley for some skiing or summer fun. Before this we used to either connect thru SLC or drive from Boise and this is way easier. The planes that fly from ORD to SUN are definitely smaller, but if you don't mind smaller planes it's definitely convenient. The small planes can't carry a lot of weight and my family of 5 tends to be overpackers, especially when it comes to skiing. We've found the bumps to be pretty rewarding and have been offered up to $3000/person in airline vouchers to connect thru cities like LA, SF, Denver, Phoenix, etc. While you can't count on this flying to Sun Valley during busy times can pay for the trip and then some! While Friedman is used to snow I've definitely been delayed here for many hours during snow storms. There's one little convenience store of drinks and costco snacks, although my kids and husband seem to be a big fan of their breakfast and lunch sandwiches. And when the weather is good it really is the easiest airport to navigate. However, their security line can sometimes take longer than the ORD security (no clear or separate TSA pre-check line) so I recommend getting there at least an hour ahead of flights.

Very quiet, non-stressful, complete opposite of most airport experiences. Definitely don't come here thinking you can grab a substantial meal pre-flight, but there are vending machines and some snacks and beverages. Girlfriend's flight was delayed 10 minutes coming into Boise due to weather. Called and let the…read moremanager know what the situation was in advance. Regardless, they did not hold the shuttle an extra 10 minutes and left my girlfriend stranded in Boise. I had to drive down from Sun Valley to pick her up in the middle of the night because she was not comfortable driving in a snow storm. COMPLETE DISASTER!!! After all that, the company also refused a refund. I'm guessing 99% of the company's business comes directly from airline travellers. To me, this is similar to if your flight was delayed 10 minutes and your connecting flight just abandoned you at the airport. Absolutely unexcusable. Shame on them for running such a poor business. I have also heard from people that weren't abandoned at the airport that that the busses are FREEZING cold in the winter and completely miserable 3 hour journey. I am going to be travelling to Sun Valley every year for the next 30 years (hopefully) and I will recommend every person I come accross to avoid this disaster on wheels.

I made reservations with this company for late January 2015 in September. My United flight was scheduled to arrive at 3:04 pm and the bus leaves at 3:30 pm. It was impossible for me to arrive any earlier from where I live on the East Coast. Wouldn't you know it, a week after I make all reservations, United notifies me that the flight will now arrive at 3:50. I notify Sun Valley Express and this unethical company will keep my $138 dollars. I understand that they may not want to refund money if a customer changes their mind, but this was beyond my control. This is my first trip to Sun Valley and if I ever return, this experience will color my memories. I doubt if I'll be able to return within a year to use that bus ticket but any future trips I'll arrange for a one-way car rental for about $30. I know I can count on the car rental companies unlike Sun Valley Express, a company that puts its own considerations ahead of its customers. Here is an update. Once I informed the company of my Yelp review here is their reply. I will note that their website is clear that no refunds will be made and unused tickets can be used up to a year after purchase. It seems however that based on their reply to me they may allow a customer to redeem their ticket after a year passes. Will it be available to me after two years? Three? There is no guarantee of this. In addition, watch out.... If you complain on social media they will refuse to serve you ... After they have met their original obligation, of course. Here is their reply: Hi Karen, It's a shame that you did not write this accurately and truthfully with full facts. I have noted this in your account. As stated before, you tickets are available for your future use. We honor our agreements. Other than the use of those paid tickets, we will refuse to do business with you in the future.
