I could never find one so I would always try to save my work for when I travel to Florida because I have such a mechanic there, but now I'm going to Tyrone32 for anything I need done when I'm in NYC. The reason: Orlando. I had a check engine light on. I had been calling around asking different shops if they run complimentary computer scans and general pricing for evap system issues, as I knew that was likely the culprit for my light. A few of the shops I called were kind of rude over the phone and didn't really want to spend any time answering questions. I came across Tyrone32 as I was driving around my new neighborhood and decided to call. I explained my situation to Orlando and he was so nice, listened to my thoughts, asked me some questions, and said just to drop in and he would check it out. He came out and ran a complimentary scan for me, checked out the car, and answered all of my questions. Orlando's customer service was amazing. After I left and arrived home, I noticed that a center button on my Jeep rim had popped out. I called Orlando to see if it had popped out somewhere at the shop and sent him a picture. He said that he couldn't find one that matched at the shop, but that he had a few extras laying around that were slightly different and he would just give me one if I came by--I mean how rare is it that someone just gives you something because they have an extra and you are in need? Super rare. Can't say enough about how great his customer service made me feel and again, I will be exclusively getting maintenance on my car here.

Let me just say that I've been coming here for YEARS and have spent thousands since I had another car that I serviced. It's been convenient and most of the mechanics are friendly and knowledgeable. Today, I had a different experience. First off, the guy at the front (I won't say any names) is rude. It takes nothing to say hello back to someone who came in and said hello. Anyway, came in to do a battery replacement. Everything was done and as I was walking to the office, I see my car....left UNATTENDED WITH THE HOOD UP and my car still running for several minutes. He just left it there like that. I walked to the office (hood was still up). Stood there waiting to get my bill and keys (hood still up) Mind you...it's a rainy day. This kid was negligent with my property. I don't know if me being a woman alone made that acceptable but it's not. Big or small job, it's business and you treat everyone's property and them with respect. Then after seeing my car left on with the hood up, I make them aware of it and then I paid and left. As I was driving, my USB/anti theft system was not working. Screen blank. Not only was he negligent with my property....he didn't finish the job. You have to reboot the anti theft system for that and the USB/screen controls to work. I was more than willing to tip the guy since I know they don't make much on batteries but after that experience, no. You don't just put a battery in...you need to reboot the system. Today was EXTREMELY disappointing and needless to say, I will go elsewhere from now on. Maybe give JJ a bit more training.

I kept asking them what was going on. Finally, they gave up, told me to come get the car, and I realized they had left the lights on all of that time, which is why I kept getting the alerts. Took the car (Mercedes) to the dealership - fixed in one day at zero cost. Riverdale Auto Clinic FAILED to accurately diagnose the issue, and charged me $1500 for it. Wait, it gets better. This week the battery needed to be replaced (I wonder why). Once again, my wife was driving the car, stopped in. They replaced the battery, thanks, I suppose. I guess they thought they were being nice by washing the car but LOST THE FRONT PASSENGER floor mat. How does that even happen? So, now I'm buying new mats because they are giving us the run around and not doing what is the right thing to do and replacing what they took out of my car, without asking, and lost it. This shop did not provide any supporting technical data (OBD-II codes or test results) to justify this cost. When I stated I would not be proceeding with repairs there because the "Engine" diagnosis did not coincide with my prior AAA report (which clearly showed a charging system failure with low voltage), the staff was visibly unhappy and unprofessional about my decision to take my vehicle elsewhere. The true issue, confirmed by a second independent mechanic, was a straightforward failure of the alternator and battery. This shop incorrectly diagnosed a serious "Engine" issue when the problem was clearly the charging system. I lost $189.50 and valuable time due to this vague diagnosis and poor service. They told me I needed a brand new engine and tried to charge me $3,995.00. In conclusion it was my alternator and battery that needed changing. Which only cost me $795.00. Avoid this place if you can.
