I believe my walker sometimes lengthens the time of the walk in order to pick up another dog, which is a bonus! You pay the bill monthly, and the walker marks a chart in your home every day so you know she was there. SERVICE: My walker, Andrea, is friendly and reliable. My dog loves her, and she is very good with him. I was a little worried about entrusting a stranger with keys to my home, but upon meeting JJ (the owner) and Andrea, my fears were immediately allayed. One of the great benefits of this service is that JJ gives helpful advice on animal behavior. My dog is challenging to walk, and JJ advised switching to a different harness and using certain training techniques to help him increase his confidence. Our walker also uses these techniques, so he gets consistent training. The advice and the training was spot on, and my dog's behavior has noticeably improved. I am so grateful to have walkers who are interested in creating a happy and healthy life for my dog, not just dragging him once around the block. Having a reliable dog walker who really cares about my dog means the difference between going to work feeling guilty and worried about leaving my dog and going to work confident that my dog is well-cared for. We use DogWalkingDC's services on weekdays. We have a good piece of mind that our dog is in good hands. Our dog walker leaves notes daily so there is no uncertainty that the dog hasn't been walked. We have grown very fond of JJ and her staff. DogWalkingDC has parameters as to where they do their walks. Luckily, we just made the cut as we are on the far edge of their dog walking region in Shaw. If I can suggest one thing, it would be to expand the map. Gone are the days of the DuPont and Logan exclusivity and it's no secret that other neighborhoods like Shaw have gentrified. I used Dog Walking DC for a couple of years to help me take care of my Toy Fox Terrier, Sammie, while I was at work for long hours. I actually switched to their service after I discovered my previous service simply wasn't showing up to walk my dog! I would come home to find "accidents" and finally decided to do some surprise observations only to discover that they often wouldn't come! I let them go. I came across JJ's listing through an area search and decided to give them a try. JJ and her team really stood out. As a new customer, the price was right. They charged less than most other local companies for a similar service. They were eager to help me and they were kind to my dog. I appreciated that they didn't take every opportunity to correct our habits or judge the way I raised my dog. From a scheduling perspective, they were unbelievably flexible. I work four ten-hour days every week and the extra weekday off changed weekly. As long as I notified the office before the day's walks started, they would take my dog off the schedule for the day. April, the office manager, was always so courteous and prompt to respond. I knew if she didn't answer me that the message didn't go through! The walker consistently marked a calendar in my home to indicate that she made a visit, went on a walk and she even mentioned which "business" Sammie completed on her walk! At the end of the month, they emailed me an invoice that I was able to reconcile with the calendar, and I was able to pay my bill using Paypal. They made it so easy and so transparent. We are all human and occasionally things would happen that made coming to walk my dog difficult. What impressed me about this group of professionals is that whenever something did come up, JJ or another representative would drop what they were doing and go walk the dog for the walker! I got a call from JJ once because Sammie's walk would be a couple hours late because her usual walker was in the hospital unexpectedly. She was just letting me know that she would personally go walk Sammie as soon as she could get over there! I can't comment on boarding services because I never used them for that, but they were always able to accommodate me if I called for an extra walk on a weekend. Sammie loved her walker, Linda, and Linda was a wonderful, trustworthy person to let in my home when I was away. I have recently moved back to the West Coast and I worry that I will not be able to find a service with the quality I enjoyed from Dog Walking DC. Dog Walking DC took care of my little Donut for a few months while he was living in DC. Since this was a temporary living situation, Donut was a little shy and uncomfortable in his new environment. JJ took the time to get to know Donut, won his trust, and then made sure he was comfortable with his walker. Donut snuggled up to JJ and was right at home. Overall, Dog Walking DC is a great service. There is nothing better than JJ and her crew at Dog Walking DC. First, she was exceedingly helpful, making the entire process of adopting my first dog a lot less stressful. I was able to call and email with all sorts of questions - I felt like I had my own dog-expert on call! Second, my dog was abused, and was not very friendly to either people or dogs. JJ helped Sammie feel right at home, helping her adjust to all sorts of creatures, including cats. Now Sammie lights up when I say JJ's name, and she can't wait to get over to daycare to be with JJ and the crew. Third, JJ's walkers (Andrea, then Jenn) have shown tremendous love to my dog - every time Sammie sees them walking the streets, she starts wagging her tail and pulling toward them. The key thing with dog walkers is trust: trust that they'll treat your dog well and take care of her, and trust that they'll respect your space. I feel completely comfortable leaving my keys and my dog with JJ's walkers, something that I could not say for many other walkers out there. Fourth, JJ is inexpensive compared to other options out there. For $25 a day, Sammie gets to play and be loved for 8 (and often more) hours, coming back tired and happy, just as a dog should be. It really helps with my busy schedule to be able to drop Sammie off in the morning and know she'll be taken care of all day. I can't recommend JJ and Dog Walking DC enough. I'm moving to Philadelphia in the Fall, and I wish I could clone JJ and her walkers and bring them with me! read more

Let's face it, our dogs are our babies!! DWDC completely understands that. I have used this service for years, for two dogs with very different personalities and needs (one with terrible anxiety, and one who was a new puppy when I brought her home!), and DWDC has always given me SUPER sweet and reliable walkers! They go out of their way to give my pups extra attention and love. My dogs aren't just happy for the daily exercise, they are very closely bonded with their walkers. Dog walking is an expensive service, but DWDC is totally worth the money in peace of mind and in the relationships my dogs have with their walkers. DWDC is accommodating for schedule needs, communicative, can also do pet-sits, and has never let me down with a missed walk. And I can't gush enough about how amazing the walkers are. I've known JJ and watched Dog Walking DC evolve for years. She is an incredibly detailed and involved business owner and has a team of walkers working for her who she is in constant contact with throughout the day. Her knowledge of all things dog/cat/animal is exceptional. When I've had dog problems after hours and can't get a vet on the phone, I will call or text her and she always has a solution for me with my own pups. She's reliable, her walkers are reliable, your dog will be walked when she says it will and she will leave you a note letting you know the status. (I know, I'm weird, I like to know if my dogs went potty or not so I know what to look for when I walk them later.) She also boards dogs in her home as other posters have mentioned, and that's an incredible service when faced with boarding a dog at a kennel where it will undoubtedly not get much attention, only get walked 2 times a day, and probably get sick. No matter if it's the day before, or I schedule weeks ahead, Dog Walking DC is on it and provides excellent service. Very pleased with the service and attention my cat gets from JJ's team. My cat needs thyroid meds twice a day, plus the regular feeding/watering/litter attention. I appreciate JJ's care in finding people who are comfortable not just with cats, but also with administering medication and spending a little time with her. I am in the process of moving to Virginia, and the thing that is making me the saddest is that I am not going to be able use Dog Walking DC anymore. I have been using JJ and her team for about 4 years for daily walks. They are reliable, friendly, and easy to work with. They literally never let me down even once during that four year time period. When there was turnover with the dog walkers or if someone was sick, JJ herself came and walked my dog. I have had several different dog walkers over years, and they were all consistent and reliable. I have read other dog walking company reviews where clients realized that the walkers were not actually walking their dogs. This is something I never questioned with Dog Walking DC. On several occasions I ended up working from home at the last minute. Occasionally I would be in another room and get to observe the dog walker without them being aware that I was home. They treated my dog with love and kindness, and always took her for the allotted time. They also make it extremely easy to pay them by sending you a monthly invoice and allowing you to pay through paypal. As someone who is constantly out of checks/stamps this is a lifesaver. JJ is also very knowledgeable about dogs, and dog related things in DC. As a first time dog owner, I had about a billion questions (usually "is this normal?") when my dog was a puppy. JJ always had great advice and was very reassuring. When I let her know I was moving she even recommended dog walkers in my new neighborhood. Highly recommend using this company. read more

Have been really pleased with the service we have received from JJ and her office manager, Rachel. They have always accommodated last minute changes in schedule, which we really appreciated. Both JJ and Rachel came out to our apartment for the initial consultation, where they got to know our dog and even taught her some new tricks in the short amount of time they were there. Rachel personally walked our dog for her first few walks since she was just a puppy and they wanted to make sure she was well taken care of. They later had someone else come to regularly walk her, but they made sure to properly introduce him to our dog so she would be comfortable with him when he came to pick her up for her walks. The tracking system is simple - they hang a printed calendar on your fridge (or anyplace they can access it) and let you know they were there that day with a little note on how your dog did. They are always good about tracking the walks - a few times they forgot to bring us new calendars at the beginning of the month, but made sure to leave us a little note on our message pad on the fridge to let us know they had been there (and they'd be sure to bring a new calendar for the next walk). Overall, would definitely recommend them. I trust them in my home and with my dog. They are very responsive and accommodating. And as far as I can tell, my dog absolutely loves them. My wife and I have come to rely on JJ and DWDC to take care of our cat while we're away. They have always done a first rate job. We're both in professional positions that require short notice travel and sometimes I've been embarrassed to call JJ, literally sometimes the day before we're heading out of town. Yet, she and her team have always come through. JJ is very professional and the people she employs seem highly competent and truly enjoy working with pets. There has never been a time when we worried about our cat being fed and cared for while we're away. What's more, recently our cat was diagnosed with diabetes. I have used DWDC for over a year and have been 100% happy with everything about it. When we first brought home our puppy, Lincoln, he was young enough that he was eating three times per day and we wanted him to be taken out often enough that he woudn't have accidents in the house (or his crate) while he was still being house trained. So DWDC came to walk Lincoln twice each day AND fed him during one of the walks so he could stay on his puppy schedule. We eventually transitioned to one walk per day (and no extra feedings) and that has worked out great ever since. Our dogwalker, Joe, takes great care of Lincoln. We've run into each other on weekends before and Lincoln gets so excited when he sees Joe - a true sign of the bond between them! April, the office manager, is easy to reach and is really flexible about changes to the schedule or questions that we have. And JJ, the owner, is always informed of what is going on and stays in touch if there are any issues. I have found DWDC to be extremely reliable, and really dedicated to taking great care of Lincoln. In fact, we are in the middle of a move from Adams Morgan to Bethesda, and we are living in interim housing for a few months in the meantime. Even though the interim housing is in Glover Park AND we are moving out of DWDC's walking area, JJ agreed to stay with us for the months we are in Glover Park to help with Lincoln's transition. DWDC is so dedicated to Lincoln that a walker is coming out of his own walking area, giving up his own time, to take Lincoln out anyway. We are going to miss DWDC when we move! I've been using DWDC almost the entire time I've had my rescue Boston Terrier--11 years. While it's important to know that they do a great job, I'm particular grateful that they are able to care for a special needs dog like mine. He's 15 now, almost completely blind, and has a hard time hearing. But JJ and her walkers love dogs and are compassionate and loving towards him, even when he's ornery towards them (I call it the "old man" syndrome. My Dad has it, too). Based on the earlier reviews I was very excited to try Dog Walking DC. However when we returned home to find our six month old puppy uncrated and walking around the house I was to say the least pretty upset. What dog walker doesn't return a dog to it's crate unless told to do otherwise? Especially with a six month old, he could have have seriously hurt himself. When we mentioned this their response was "we'll put a note in your profile." This did not do much to improve my opinion of their service. read more
