The food here is fantastic; don't let the exterior fool you.... This is a hidden gem. The service was quick and personable, and the new owner is friendly and a nice guy. I got a varied spread of hummus, Baba G, falafel platter, fried eggplant platter and tzatziki sauce. Everything was delicious but the fried eggplant had everyone scrambling and throwing elbows for second portions. This is a local owned place by an incredibly sweet and proud owner. I had the pleasure of being served by him when ordering in person and he was so excited for us to try his food. He did not let down! The food by and large were excellent. I'll start with the highlights. The dips all phenomenal, very fresh, and very homemade. The falafel, oh my chefs kiss. The falafel is exceptional, crunch to the outside and a delicate moist inside. It's so rare to find good falafel in the US and this was good. Finally the stuffed grape leaves, for anyone not familiar these are hard to make, and even harder to make well. You often won't see them on menus because they just take so long to make each one. These grape leaves were just marvelous. The flavor was so delicate and smooth. Whether you have had stuffed grape leaves or not you need to try these! Saffron rice this will come with most dishes was excellent. Wonderfully fragrant, clearly real and good quality saffron. Rice was good beautifully. Not much more to say other than wonderful rice. Things to work on as notes to the business - the chicken shawarma was a bit small and a bit tough. Given the quality of all the other food I did try I'm betting this was a fluke or something that will get up to the level of quality of the other foods. Great option for Mediterranean in the area. Quick and easy takeout on a Friday night. Rice was fluffy! Kofta and falafel was moist and flavorful, which is hard to find around here because most places make it so dry! My wife and I were inspired to try Altas Kabab & Grill because of the outstanding reviews that the restaurant received on Yelp. I have to concur with all of the great reviews. The food was outstanding. Very fresh ingredients. Abdul, the proud owner immediately offered us samples of various items and sauces and explained that he sources and uses only fresh ingredients, with extra virgin olive oil, no preservatives, quality meats only. Also he has his own special blend of spices-which I loved. We both asked for medium hot on spice and it was perfect. The meals were cooked to order. My wife had Chicken shawarma in a bowl and I had the platter option Our meals were very tasty as all of the different components (rice, vegetables, meats, sauces were flavorful and perfectly prepared. The platters and bowls were large and well balanced. The prices were very reasonable given the quality and quantity, We feel like we discovered a hidden gem in this little restaurant. I'm sorry they didn't have the filo cheese sticks on this particular visit. Abdul said his baker was on vacation. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes on the menu during our next visit. I don't know how they get their falafel so fresh and fluffy, but it's a real winner. Green, flavorful, it's one of my favorite falafels in the area nowadays. Also love that their platters contain so many options: a good portion of your chosen main from a variety of options (including proteins like fish and bastarma), fries or flavorful yellow rice with scattered onions and peppers, a nicely dressed and seasoned salad portion, a falafel or two, a portion of grilled veggies (tonight was broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers), hummus, very pungent garlic sauce, a pita, and a charred jalapeno. It's fresh, flavorful, filling (makes 2 meals for me), tasty, mostly healthy, and pretty cravable. But there are sandwich and bowl options too, if you don't want all the frills- they've got portions and options for all appetites. So far, the chicken shawarma and chicken kebab are winners- seasoned nicely and not dry, though the shawarma is more pieces of tender than actually shaved shawarma-, with the beef shawarma coming in third. Don't sleep on the filo cheese sticks (crispy and delicious) or the baklava (huge portion) either. Delivery is reliable and food typically arrives still hot. Atlas is a wonderful local and family operated eatery. The offerings are excellent and some of the best Middle Eastern cuisine I have had. The felafel and baba ghanouj are the best I have tasted anywhere. The lamb chops and the lamb kebabs are so tasty. The owner is very nice and helpful and mans the stove on top of that. It appeared the heavy lifting cooking-wise was handled by (I assume) his lovely spouse. I selected Atlas partly because they have a parking lot and being from California, Boston is a huge challenge when it comes to parking for us. Now that I have tasted, I would be more than willing to walk blocks to eat here and will do so again when we return for another visit to this wonderful city. read more

Best Mediterranean food I've had in decades. Everything was delicious. Couldn't be better. I had the kofra kebab plate, ground beef with lamb, rolled and fried, salad, hummus, garlic sauce and tabouli. Look it up. I'm probably not touching it all the great aspects of it. Every part of it was exceptional, full of freshness and taste, each part distinctive in taste and presentation from another part. Not the usual commodification of Mediterranean food present in most imitative restaurants. So many spots are predictable, bland, food feeling like it sat around waiting to be served and unremarkable in every way. Not here. A full size salad, bright, light tastes with just the right amount of a delicate dressing. Not just the typical hunks of greens and ingredients thrown together with no soul and doused in some soybean oil based imitation.It was not the thick flour pita pocket that despite rips apart when you try to lightly stuff it with your salad or grape leaves or tabouli, despite being the thickness of baseball glove leather. This pita pocket was as thin as it could be, not the chewy baseball glove we usually get, yet completely resilient. It held everything I stuffed into it. read more

Tons of potential. Love the thought of an ethnic affordable middle eastern restaurant close by. The chicken kebob I ordered was amazing.. tender, spiced to perfection, succulent and so much more. However, the pricing didn't make sense. All I wanted was a chicken kebob - nothing extra. I was told by the person working there they didn't sell kebobs a la carte. I was told I needed to by the kebob dinner. The dinner included things I didn't want and couldn't eat on a restricted diet. I asked how much WOULD they sell me just the kebobs for (off menu) and was told $8 a spear (four chunks chicken on a skewer with tiny sliver of onions). I was told he would only sell two of them at a time. I did the math and the dinner (where you get rice, hummus and much more was cheaper). Didn't make sense. I ended up getting the avocado salad and THEN could add chicken. Add a can of diet Coke = $22. WAY TOO MUCH. The salad was 93 percent shredded low-grade lettuce, a few cucumbers, sliver or two of onions and one slice of tomato (cut for a sandwich) and UNRIPE slices of avocado. Topping the salad was a DELICIOUS kebob of chicken (four chunks). I was disappointed, because the food prep area had tons of great things for salad that were never offered to me... Unclear if I was charged extra when I asked for a tiny plastic cup of tzatziki instead of Greek dressing. As I was walking out - loving the chicken but hating the salad - I watched as the person working their stuffed his face with bread and dip right behind the counter. NOTE TO owner - I want you to succeed. I LOVE the concept. I love Middle Eastern food and do not want you to fail. I will 100 percent try you again. But please.... a salad with chicken on it should not cost $20 - unless I'm a fancy pants restaurant. I would also love it (and willing to pay for quality) an option to JUST buy a skewer of kebobs. That was my expectation with a restaurant called Atlas Kebab & Grill. Also - is it Kebob and Grill or Kebab and Grill or Kabeb and Grill - it's spelled many different ways... First time ordering from here via delivery with Grub Hub. I was so disappointed in this order. I ordered the Chicken Kebab, hummus, and grape leaves. The chicken was burned and very dry. I was SHOCKED for the price all that it came with was one single kebab stick. So 5 pieces of burned, dry chicken. The rice it was on top of was good. The hummus did not come with the pita bread as advertised so we didn't eat it. The only good part of the order was the salad, which did come with the ordered extras. Stumbled upon this place after a failed attempt to go for a hike. Maktub! One of the owners was there and made me one of the best falafel wrap. We also had a platter of shrimp and it was equally as good. The food is fresh and the owner was so personable and friendly he made us feel right at home. I have to say the falafel was perfectly colored and seasoned and just a fluff of delightfulness. We actually went back the following week and although he wasn't there the food was still good. Excellent Mediterranean restaurant right near the edge of West Roxbury past vfw parkway. I highly recommend this place. Ordered chicken kebab and beef shawarma platters and fries. Serving size is very generous, meat was juicy and flavorful. Lots of good sauces came with it and the cucumber salad was super tasty. Place is kid friendly with high chairs and my kids enjoyed the food also. Very friendly owners as well. Definitely will be returning here for lunch again! read more

Two other customers came in and placed orders then left when they saw the woman's bizarre behavior. I unfortunately paid and waited for my food which took 40 minutes. The owner / husband arrived with two kids in tow and proceeded to start my order. Food was not good at all. Fries were greasy and nasty like they were reheated in oil.
