Numerous dishes are pre-cooked and served from chafing dishes.

This is a welcome addition to the Dedham restaurant scene. This new Mediterranean is a hybrid dine in/take out, in which there is seating for 28, but no table service. However, one can reserve a table in advance, or come without a reservation, order at the front, and the staff will bring your food to your table. If you want a cup of water with your meal (and don't want to buy bottled water or other drinks), you need to ask for and the staff is happy to oblige. What I liked: Modern buildout, clean, and attractive environment. Music was a little loud but that's a personal preference issue. The pita was nice and thick and warmed. My vegan partner enjoyed her veggie wrap. The Gyro plate was also warmly received by a fellow foodie. Portion sizes were generous. What I didn't like: Mezo over-grills its Lamb/Beef Gyro to the point of "crunchy", and also fills the Gyro with french fries. I'd prefer they lower the price form $16 to $13, jettison the fries (or offer it as an option), and don't grill the meat - it should already be fully cooked and seasoned on its "spit" (vertical rotisserie). When asked, the owner explained "that's the way they do it where I come from" (the Patras region of NW Greece), and he added that this method helped avoid Salmonella (this might make sense for the chicken). Seems like a growing trend among fast-casual joints - is to overcook the meat (Shake Shack, 5-Guys, Smash Burger, etc). I for one, don't prefer my rotisserie lamb "crunchy." It also seems the menu has a big hole in it: no grilled octopus. A number of popular items are precooked and served from chafing dishes (ie, Moussaka, etc.) There appeared to be only 1 cook and on a busy Saturday evening, our order took about 25 minutes to complete. I couldn't find a company website although they have a presence on Instagram and other social media sites. The prices on Grubhub seem to be different (& higher) compared to the in-store menu, which I found to be high to start with. In sum, very nice environment for a fast casual, decent if not spectacular food, good portion sizes, expensive, friendly service, and over-grilled Gyro meat with French fries hidden inside the Gyro pita sandwich.

Excellent new Greek restaurant in Dedham, and probably the best around. We ordered the Mousaka, beef and lamb gyro, chicken gyro, Greek salad, and chicken souvlaki plate. Everything was delicious and portions were large. You can tell a good place by the quality of the olive oil. Employees were very nice as well. We will definitely be back!!

Stopped by for lunch today and tried this new spot in Dedham. It's an upscale, casual restaurant where you order at corner but they bring the food out to you. They have beer and wine as well for date nights. They cook the meats fresh and the sides are warm and ready. The food was very good and flavorful and portion sizes were good. The lamb and beef plate was delicious. It is a little on the pricier side since both these meals came to $50 with a small tip. The place is designed well inside.

I went with the grape leaves as my side and grabbed a Smartwater. Simple and a solid value. Let's start with the pita, because I'm a texture nut and this thing was perfect, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The gyro itself was packed, literally spilling out with filling, and was super flavorful. I'll admit I went in expecting the typical lamb/beef, so the pork caught me off guard. Turns out after doing some reading on the inter-webs, pork is actually the authentic Greek preparation and the lamb/beef is the more Turkish/American take on it. Either way, one bite and I was a convert. The grape leaves were everything you want them to be; briny, punchy, and packed with filling. No complaints there. As for the ambiance, another reviewer put it best: "I wouldn't take my first date here." Fair enough. But for a quick, no-fuss lunch? It was perfect. Between 12 and 1 this place was absolutely jamming, with barely a seat to spare, which should tell you something. Not to mention I heard the staff greet many people by name. I'll be back, and next time I'm bringing my partner. She loves Greek food and this place deserves a proper visit.

But the gyro meat was surprisingly bacony and fattier than I expected. They had a nice selection of fruit sodas that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I wouldn't pick this place for a first date or anything but it seemed like it would be great if you had a big party.

They look like they've changed their menu to be more Mediterranean focused, to cater to more communities. I'll say, among the Persian community in Boston, no one really talks about Stardust, which is strange because they're pretty legit. The quality, taste, and delivery timeliness were all top-notch. I'm thinking maybe their location isn't as accessible, but I'd definitely recommend them as a Persian food option for delivery or takeout. It seems to fly under the radar and it definitely deserves more attention!

The space is small and intimate but the portions are large and the flavors "inspired." You can order off the menu or create your own. We came for the Gyro experience - but the menu is quite expansive and worth returning to explored more fully. I asked for my lamb-tenderloin gyro "Greek & Spicy" - which is laden with both Tzatziki (strained yogurt, cucumber, garlic) and a red spicy sauce. Normally, I prefer my gyro enclosed in a thick soft warm pita, but Stardust uses a thinner pita - which appears to accommodate a larger serving size while holding it all firmly together, without it falling out in a messy puddle. So I'm willing to overlook this bread issue. All in all, the star is the food, as it should be, and it doesn't disappoint. Allen is a very well-read and international citizen, who is engaging on all things Persian culture and cuisine. Strike up a convo and see where it goes.

Currently closed till 7/2024 according to Yelp…read more But late 2022, we finally got the chance to try Fairouz's $43 Mixed Grill Plate (chicken, beef, shrimp (4 count), lamb, kafta (ground beef and lamb), served with rice, salad (simply lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, and two portions of oil based dressing), garlic dip & hummus dip), to go. Everything came well packed, with the salad in a large plastic clam shell, two little sauce containers of each dip, two ziplock baggies of pita triangles, napkins, plastic ware, all sitting on the aluminum foil covered tray of meat and rice. Since I had been enticed by Bea's photo of this dish, I was a little disappointed at the lack of grilled vegetables. But there was salad and upon reflection, the menu made no mention of such veggies, so perhaps there's been changes over time? The rice received props from this household, and wonder at how it was flavored. The meat, though medium to well done, was tender enough, and the lamb lacked that gaminess that the non-lamb-eater among us so dislikes. The kafta and shrimp were the most strongly seasoned proteins of the bunch, and the shrimp rather juicy. Both hummus and garlic dip were good, but the garlic is indeed strong with the latter, so spread with a light hand. You can always add more to taste after all. The worst that could be said was that I wished that there had been more tomatoes in the salad, and if only they had not split the pita triangles. Pitas without their pockets are rather tougher to enjoy as self made mini sandwich bundles of all the good flavors and textures. I hope they see this and reconsider.

We ordered the dip trio, the spanakopita, the feta 2.0, the scallops, and the gnocchi moussaka. The feta 2.0 was an absolute hit (got too excited so forgot to take a picture). The feta was soft and creamy, wrapped in fried phyllo, and soaked in honey. So unbelievably delicious. The spanakopita was also a favorite for us--it was served on a bed of tzatziki and was perfectly seasoned. The dip trio was generally delicious, but the butternut squash hummus was a bit underwhelming. The scallops were tasty, but perhaps a bit overcooked. I did really enjoyed our the gnocchi moussaka but it is a bit salty. Service was quick and our server made sure to check in with us multiple times throughout the night. It definitely felt like a more loud and lively environment. A great option in Seaport that I will keep on my list!
