I've been to some Jiu Jitsu gyms where everyone walks around puffed up and ready to dominate like they're training for the octagon next week. (At one of those gyms I actually left with a black eye and bruised rib during my trial week!) At Meta Martial Arts, Coach Joe was very patient with my inexperience. Even the other students had a great vibe to them, immediately making me feel welcomed. I have to say, Jiu Jitsu is definitely the best work out of my life. You leave somehow feeling completely drained of energy, but totally energized. I highly recommend giving Meta Martial Arts a try. The classes are intense, physically demanding (in a good way), and the instruction is top notch. There is always something exciting to learn and the coaches do a fantastic job getting the point across and making sure everyone is on the same page and up to speed. They care about your development and well-being and I never feel stupid for asking questions or speaking up if I don't understand something. I look forward to every day and every class. Since the time he started at RRBJJ, the brotherhood has grown exponentially between the coaches and the team. There is a camaraderie within this team that is hard to describe. You don't have to have been on Team Rabadi for years to feel like you are actually part of that team. I've seen coaches and seasoned BJJ competitors welcome new students to the school without hesitation and offer additional time to those 'newbies' who are interested and wanting to learn. There is no intimidation upon entering through the school doors, just a sense that you're about to get one hell of a workout and meet some new friends. How can you not make friends when the positions you put yourself in (or are put in by others) can be fairly awkward!? I do love this school and the team it has built. But don't be intimidated by that. There is no pressure to fight, and like I said the vast majority of peeps are there to learn technique and get into shape.
