I have been going to F&F for 3 years now and it has been amazing. I got started by doing the 2 week trail pass and went to ever single class I could. My favorite classes have been the 6 ( a six week area focused strength class), heavy bag (cardio class with lots of kickboxing moves), and barbell (weight lifting). I had never touched a kettlebell, heavy bag, or barbell before and its shocking how much you pick up. The confidence boost from trying it to the first time to seeing your progress after a couple of weeks is crazy. The variety of classes was great but what really kept me coming back is the amazing community that Amelia and Amie have created. The gym is so welcoming to people of all fitness and knowledge levels and there is never any pressure to give more than you can. You truly feel welcomed here. read more

I was so impressed with Renee's class. I thought she handled our big group so well from start to finish. She engaged us right where we were, and brought us from socializing with each other to some pretty intense movements. I especially loved when she brought in the belt prop, because I think that created the resistance to get beyond the discomfort of kicking at our friends!! Renee handled the questions thoroughly and had quick applications with exercises to help us visualize and feel the tension. I stumbled onto this gym while searching for something close to my house, and I have not regretted it once!! This Krav Maga gym is incredible about making EVERYONE feel welcome and CAPABLE! It doesn't matter your age or fitness level, Amie & crew work hard to ensure you feel like you've got as many tools as possible to get home safe. It's not a "women's gym" (whatever tf that means in 2021!) but I LOVE how safe it feels here - no bros watching you lift, nobody competing for the front of the class to show off. Amazing gym with amazing people. Doing the krav maga program here has really boosted my confidence in all areas of my life. The instructors are so kind and will make any modifications you need. The other people are amazing and friendly and I have met so many cool people here. It's a big benefit that the gym is small, so you can feel comfortable being around familiar faces when you visit. Also, this is a great gym for people who are looking for a place that is body positive. There is absolutely NO weight loss focus from instructors, scales, or body fat measurement systems like you might find at other gyms. I've been going to FnF since 2019, I started doing a challenge! It was hard but it was awesome to see results and support from the team members! I paused for a while after "covid season" and I just restarted a couple of weeks ago and I am LOVING IT so far! Everything hurts after a class but is the type of pain you want to feel! Also I recently did my very first Krav Maga class! I have to say I've never taken it before since I felt kind of intimidated by it, but I am happy to say I had fun! I've been attending Krav Maga classes at Fit & Fearless for 2 months now and I'm loving it! I'm not an aggressive person. I've never learned any type of martial art in the past. Hell, I've never been in a real fight! Yet, I find myself looking forward to coming back each week. The instructors are intense and push you to perform each move with proper form. The classes are an hour long and start with a frantic warm up much like a HIIT workout crammed in to 15-20 minutes. From there, you go in to the day's combative (striking) techniques and eventually string several techniques together in a drill where speed, power and aggression come to the forefront. The end of the class is usually spent learning defensive techniques that would ultimately end with the combatives you practiced earlier. In class it's encouraged that you grunt, yell, be attentive to your surroundings and be aggressive. I initially found this to be awkward as I'm a relatively quiet person, but honestly it really helps to get over that hump and just immerse yourself in the situation. You will leave class with bumps and bruises.. cuts on your hands... bruised and swollen knuckles. You might even have an errant strike land on your face, chest, arms, groin etc. Clearly that's not fun, but how the hell are you supposed to be successful in a fight if you don't know what it feels like to be in one? I highly suggest you come by and take a free class to see what it's all about. It just took one class for me be keen enough to sign up for a membership. read more

Fit & Fearless is a great place to get in shape and empowered! As a woman, I'm glad that I've been able to learn critical self defense tactics through the courses offered. Additionally, the conditioning classes are great for building muscle and otherwise cutting fat. The classes are well organized and thought out. I wish they had Friday morning classes also! Overall, I've fallen in love wth Krav Maga and I truly love how it makes me feel and work. I'd recommend this for any other woman (or individual) looking to get introduced to martial arts. I absolutely love this gym. I originally went with a friend who was interested in getting started with self defense (and we are both pretty fitness minded) and the FnF staff were so warm and friendly and immediately welcomed us to a variety of classes for free, with no commitment needed. Because of that, I was able to get a real feel for the way classes work and if I wanted to join or not. I got a punch card right away because I already belonged to another gym, but then when the January challenge rolled around after the new year, my friend and I both jumped on the opportunity to have an unlimited memberships and started going 3 to 4 times a week. I could see immediate results, and it doesn't feel like grinding away at the gym, it feels like a fun activity, I constantly am learning a ton about Krav Maga, and joining some really friendly people WHILE getting fitter. If you're on the fence or haven't found a workout that's right for you (or like me, are very team oriented and have played sports your whole life and are bored by traditional/solitary workouts) check it out. They're really flexible about jumping in on classes if you're not sure what you like, they bill weekly (which is really nice) and I finally feel like I'm getting my money's worth at a gym because the accountability and fun of going to classes keeps me coming back consistently. Cons: * Parking is iffy. I've always managed to find a spot, but they're real small and not everyone realizes that they're best for compact cars so there is the occasional tight squeeze. On Sundays, the church next door uses all available spots so you may end up walking a bit from the neighbor lot (not a huge deal) * There is also no locker room or changing room, which is a bummer, but you can make it work in the tiny bathrooms/shower stall, it's just not super comfortable. read more

I walked into Fit and Fearless in early January and met with Jessica, co-owner and kick ass instructor. I was very excited to begin training in Krav Maga and entered their six-week​ challenge (which was a good way to jumpstart). Though there are a myriad of classes to choose from, I began with my focus on Krav 1, as I wanted to learn techniques and also enjoy the sparring aspect as a way to get out some much-needed​ aggression. The meal plan was laid out and easy to follow, my accountability coach Melissa was incredibly​ supportive​ through the process, and I feel like I learned a copious​ amount of fighting skills in a very short time. On a purely aesthetic level, I love the way my abs are looking these days. You will do a serious amount of work on your core, that I can promise. All of the instructors are very good, I especially love heavy bag with Matt. That's a workout that will make you strong, fast and exhausted. All around fitness power. The only caveat I would throw in is​ ready to do the mobility class and get ready to spend a little money on chiropractic adjustments​ and cryotherapy, because you will train hard, your body hurts at times, but you will feel like a lion at the end of this journey! read more

How is it I've been a member for almost a year and never put up a review here?! I'm a horrible person for slacking so much - no excuse! This place is excellent for both men and women, but women...if you have zero training you will feel great here and they will help you gain confidence with each class. I started out for a Women's only class about a year ago. We call them Wonder Women Wednesdays. They are free, for all those who identify as women, and occur the first wednesday of every month. Even if you only ever come to those classes, you get 12 free classes a year - sometimes more if they decide to have extra ones some months. I started out with just the entry Level 1 Krav Maga class. I was completely intimidated as I am lover, not a fighter, but was tired of people touching me without my permission and not being able to do anything about it. Hence, learning to defend myself properly. After just a week of Krav Maga Level 1 I tried the Bag Class (glove up b/c you go to town on 100 lb sand bag) and even went to some Ground Fighting classes. I chose to only ground fight women b/c I was so uncomfortable fighting men...at first. Sometimes I would go to Ground Fighting and choose to only watch (no other women were in class that day). The instructors completely get this - they are great. If you don't feel comfortable participating they won't get frustrated with you for it. They simply give some sort of positive response and encourage you to watch. After a Ground Fighting class one day one of the guys, retired military, approached me. He said he noticed I wouldn't practice ground fighting with anyone that wasn't a woman. I nodded that was true. He made one simple statement, "I'm not sure what happened for you to make that decision, but the next time you need to defend yourself will most likely be against a guy. So, find a guy or two you trust in this class and face your fears." It really choked me up for some stranger to say that to me. The thing is, most people who practice here, even the hardened tough guys who look like they could stomp you with one single move are big teddy bears at heart. They'll never admit it, and they won't show it, but they care - a lot. After talking with that guy for a while he stayed after class and practiced a few things with me. Now he's one of 4 guys I will practice ground fighting with. Sure it's still intimidating, sure I sometimes panic inside, but I'm learning. I will also say this, one time I did panic in class - a Krav class. I can't explain it, I just got triggered and started to cry, which paniced me even more b/c let's face it - no one wants to cry in public, but especially in Krav Maga class full of about 20+ people. The guy that was my partner for that class noticed I was having a moment and lowered the punching pad he was holding and simply asked if I needed a break. I said I just needed to catch my breath. He was completely calm about it and just stood there until I got myself together again. Never said anything or made a big deal out of it, just was patient with me. No one else around made a big deal either. I had my freak out moment and it eventually passed. If I'm going to freak out it bettter be here in my safe place where I can train through it than in real life where it counts. I have seen others panic in class once or twice before. They simply catch their breath or step outside the room and sometimes an instructor will follow, sometimes not (just depends - they are well trained and feel out the situation). There are other classes as well. There is yoga (which is with Amy and is wonderful and you should definitely go!), KravFit (which is boot camp style - no heavy weights, but they still run you ragged), Open Mat (which I technically still only feel comforatble watching, but will face that mountain soon enough), and even Challenge Courses for 6 weeks for those who are looking for fitness and not necessarily self defense. I tell you all of this b/c sharing personal stories helps others decide if they should try something out, but more important than that it helps others know they are not alone. SOOOOO... If you just want a new fitness challenge come on out, if you want to learn how to Box - come take some one-on-ones with Omar (he's won some Austin Fit awards), need to relax - come take Yoga with Amy, need to learn self defense - come take Krav Level 1 and get started today, wish you knew some jui jitsu or wrestling - come to Ground Fighting, love making your lungs burn -come to Bag Class or KravFit. My point is, just come on over and try this place out. You'll find your happy place here. read more

I went for my free first class, level 1 self defense. I had never done any sort of martial arts - I've never been in a fight, never hit a person - I'm a lover, not a fighter . So I was nervous and awkward and not sure what to expect. The first 15 minutes of class were like cardio drills - really challenging and got me sweating like a hot yoga class. After that we partnered up. I ended up partnered with a SUPER nice and helpful dude who had to have been over 6' tall and 220 lbs of muscle. I'm 5'8", and about 130lbs soaking wet. We started with kicks and then moved onto punches and it was really awkward for me at first and surprisingly challenging for my entire body. I started to get it though and just kept sweating more and more. About halfway through we did this exercise where our partner would pretend choke us, and we would have to break the choke, kick and then punch to get out of it. I realized that when a big guy like my partner has his hands around my throat, without the skills that I'll learn at a class like this, I would have no chance at all. Game over. I didn't realize how powerless I am and it scared me. The class was jam packed with kicks, punches, drills and partner work. The instruction was great, there was no time to rest, and I not only got a great workout, but I feel like even just that one class taught me things that are priceless. The next day my throat, arms and kicking shin were sore - along with my core. I'm definitely considering a membership - I'm trying to fit it in my budget. Even just for a few months so that I feel like I can defend myself if the situation arises. Definitely recommend this place. What a wonderful place! I came here for the first time with a couple of my girlfriends for their 1st Wednesday of every month's free Women's only Krav Maga class. This place was PACKED. I was starting to get slightly nervous because all of the older women looked extremely toned and strong. I felt like I was clearly doing something wrong in my life, but I was happy to know that the class was primarily all newcomers to Krav Maga. The instructor was loud, fun, and extremely informative. She was open to questions throughout the class and was entertaining as hell when it came to female self-defense. You start off with cardio warm up exercises to get your heart rate up, and let me tell you, my heart rate was up. The rest of the time you are partnered up with one of your classmates and do drills-- taking turns punching the crap out of your partner or getting your chest repeatedly slammed into. Don't worry, you're holding a pad! But you can definitely still feel the impact. The instructor really emboldens you beat the shit out of that pad. It's wonderfully empowering. I'll be making my way here again next month to kick some butt! read more

Fit and Fearless is the best for self defense! I've been to 3 other self defense gyms in Austin and this is by far the best structured, most practical, and absolutely the best workout. They focus on technique as well as endurance. I've been a member here for about 1.5 years and have seen my endurance increase dramatically. I've learned some great skills and am continually challenged to improve. The beginning of class is an intense warm up, followed by some basic skills, and then a real life scenario drill. You really never know when you'll need these skills, so the practical real life drills really bring everything home. Robins level 1 classes are amazing. She focuses on technique and makes sure we all have fun while we are there. She spends a lot of time one-on-one with the students to ensure any questions they have get answered and they are continuously improving. read more

I absolutely fell in love with FnF - the staff, the classes, and how it made me feel. It's the most empowering workout and teachers. I would even call it therapeutic. No matter what your level, the classes are accessible. Instructors and seasoned members welcome you with open arms. I recently took the level one belt test. I have never been one for physical accomplishments like this. But FnF gave me what I needed to take a 9 hour test. It was like finishing a marathon. If I can do it - so can you! You'll definitely find this is a way of life. You'll start to see the same members and it feels like a family. Try out a few classes and take things at your own pace. My son has been enrolled in a weekly Krav Maga class here for several months. From the start, I've liked the straightforward nature of how they do business: their contracts are easy to read and understand, they don't hyper-cross-sell you on other products and classes, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the first instructor for my son's class really connected with him. Their hour-long class is actually 60 minutes long. That never happens anymore!!! A couple of things I'd love to see different... They could be clearer via email about class schedules over the holidays. We'd gotten lots of conflicting verbal information, and ended up missing a session that we could have made. It would have been great to have another kids' class to attend, because when you pay monthly, if you miss one week's class, you can't make it up. Unfortunately, after a couple of instructor changes, my son has decided to drop the class. And even that process is no-nonsense, easy, non-confrontational. I know that if he decides to go back, or I might want to try one of their classes, we will not hesitate to re-enroll. read more

So much weight that I had to buy a new wardrobe because my skinny pants were falling off and it looked like I was swimming in my skinny shirts. I have been coming to F&F for almost two weeks now, and I have tried the majority of the classes. They have a great selection of things from Self Defense classes, to cardio classes, and Yoga. They even offer various seminars sometimes. All of the instructors I have had the pleasure of working with are phenomenal and teach so many things. You can even schedule a private training session with them if you want. The management that I have met are also super awesome and do try to go above and beyond. The lengthy version: A couple of weeks ago I was looking for something challenging and fun at the same time. I went to the gym in Germany but here I couldn't get used to it - and I got one around the corner within my apartment complex. So different ideas came up but the most promising was Krav Maga. I haven't done self-defence or martial arts since I was a little kid but I still remember how demanding it could be. Since I got a bigger frame, I was not sure if this was the right way to go or not so the first visit was a 50/50 thing. Should I stay or should I go? I mean, I'm new to this and so on... Luckily I went over there and the whole experience from checking in, getting the tour and taking the first class was awesome. First I thought everyone is a Master in the class and I'm the new guy who looks like a turtle on the ground. But fear not, you are joining others in class 1 which are probably just as new as you are. We got all the different ages and sizes here so no excuse or worries. The instructors are so helpful and always ready to show you how to do certain things, they really take care of the class and thats what got me signing up for a membership. Stop by, don't be afraid and you'll see what I mean - that's all I can say and the 1 session is free! Really, the biggest selling point for me was the group in the class and the instructors I had so far. Shout out to Francisco, Liz and Brad - you guys are awesome!
