She had reviewed my post and was ready to schedule me. Their availability was Wednesday but she understood the situation I was in and two minutes later had someone scheduled to come out same day and bid the project. Thats when Doug showed up, the big boss, yes the boss had stood up from his desk when he heard about my situation and came to do the bid himself. He was nicely dressed, masked wearing PPE, and wasn't shy about diving into the ocean that was below my house. 10 minutes later Doug resurfaced for air and we dove into the technicals. Unbeknownst to Doug I had been down in the crawlspace myself swimming ethernet the night before so had a good grasp on the state of the situation. His bid was fair and his assessment accurate (and somewhere along the way he had drawn a Monet quality sketch of my crawlspace layout) . He was honest when we walked through each piece of the bid line by line and was willing to listen to my concerns. After figuring out technicals, Doug and I parted ways, and shortly thereafter I called the ever so polite Mackenzie to accept the project. The all star crew showed up bright and early the next day ready to kickoff the project. Jose was my operations manager - and a fine one at that. This rating is 3 stars because I want to provide a fair assessment combining my experience with their sales and project management, which were 4+ stars, with execution and professionalism of the crews who did the work (1-star on Days 1-2, 4-5-stars on Day 3-4). It was a mixed bag, but the team at Attic Projects did follow through and try to make it right, giving a 20% discount for issues we incurred. My main advice to anyone having work done is to inspect your own attic - before, during, and after the job. Here's a summary of scope of work and the issues: Job was to remove and replace insulation in a 1920s home, sanitize, provide barriers to future rodent entry. There was a small additional line item to remove a vent connecting living space to attic, since there should be no direct connection between the two. Initial estimate and evaluation of the project was very thorough, informative, and efficient, done by project manager. This is what "sold" us on Attic Projects. The project was bid as a 1-day job. The work was initially scheduled to occur within ~1-2 weeks, but was delayed by ~2 additional weeks due to some equipment being out for repairs. That was Delay #1, which was reasonably well-communicated. On the day of the job, work proceeded slowly, the crew had difficulty getting the vacuum system to work properly, and they only achieved partial removal of the existing insulation (rather than full removal, sanitization, and new install). They told me they would be back the next day to finish the job. The next day, nobody showed up, so I called the office, and was told that they should not have told me they'd be back the next day, because that was not possible. They sent a crew back the day after instead. This was a small delay, and not that well-communicated. On Day 2, they sent 2 people instead of 4, and unfortunately, progress was extremely slow, the crew had extended periods of down-time and unprofessional behavior, and little was accomplished. At one point, they informed me that they were about to start blowing in new insulation, and I asked if I could inspect first. I discovered that removal of insulation was not complete, sealing around air holes and electrical was not complete, and rodent proofing was not complete. I asked them to address these items before blowing in. They had also installed a number of cardboard baffles, for unclear reasons. I called the office to notify them of the slow progress. The crew informed me in the mid-afternoon that they needed to leave, because they were not allowed to work overtime (this was still only 3 or 3:30pm). They departed without completing the job. On this day, crew did not properly protect the work area and our living area, and there was a lot of debris left, trash disposed of incorrectly, our walls were damaged (plaster chipped off from hoses without wall protection), and finger smudges on freshly painted walls. I contacted our project manager and the office. They noted my concerns and assured me that all issues would be addressed. A few days later, project manager came over to inspect. He confirmed that work was a) not complete, and b) not done correctly so far. He stated that cardboard baffles should not be installed since our house has no soffits, and would need to be removed. He stated that air gap sealing, rodent-proofing, and removal of insulation was not complete. Day 3 was set for ~1 week later. A different crew lead was sent, and one of the office managers came onsite to inspect the work, and went through the attic with me to review status of the project before final blow-in. On Day 3 we were satisfied with professionalism and thoroughness of crew. They came back for Day 4 a couple of weeks later to blow in slightly more insulation in one area. The only part not completed was removal of vent between house and attic - it was partially done but drywall and patching was incomplete. They said someone would be sent to finish. This did not get addressed, including 2 no-shows by drywall contractor. Received partial refund for partial completion (on request). read more

I hired Attic Projects for an exhorbitant fee to have the space under my house cleaned and the air ducts inspected and replaced if required. Their employees did an excellent job of cleaning out under the house but the salesman who estimated the job did not include replacing 4 air ducts that badly needed to be replaced in the contract. I had to employ a different company on a separate contract to finish the job. read more

I had to ask for my invoice and pictures of work performed. I received pictures of somebody else's house. I've sent numerous emails asking for my pictures and no response. I found Attic Projects through Google while searching for someone who could take care of a squirrel that decided to set up shop in our bay window. The day they were scheduled to give an estimate I received a call when the guy was on his way (and that he was running a little late). I appreciate the open communication. The sales guy was very informative BUT he wasn't quite listening that we ONLY needed this one window sealed up, not the whole property. After some back n forth he agreed to talk to his manager to see if they could accommodate this small job and we were able to work out a deal. The 1st appointment we had seemed to go well. The 2 workmen arrived and claimed that all window areas were sealed up. Upon inspection we were let down by the minimal amount of wire mesh used. The salesman made it sound more professional. BUT they include a 5yr warranty with their work, so we could always have them come back. 2 days later the squirrel was back and had found a new way into his tiny condo. I called Attic Projects again and they came back out a few days later. HOWEVER the workmen were not instructed properly and didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach the window (their paperwork said "attic" even though I specified "bay window"), luckily we had one. This team did a much better job and even took pictures to show me what they did and showed me the spot that the squirrel had chewed through. It's been a month since the 2nd job and we haven't had any furry intruders. read more

Shortly after purchasing an older home, I reached out to Attic Projects, knowing I needed to address the crawl space. They provided a thorough proposal, which amounted to basically re-doing the crawl space. Yes, it's pricey, but it was all needed. I also had them look at re-directing a bathroom vent, which needed to go through the roof. While in the attic, they discovered mold, rat droppings, and gaps where rodents were getting in. In the end, I had them redirect the vent, address the gaps, and re-insulate the attic. As simple as it is to type these things up now, none of this was easy on the pocketbook and was very hard to juggle alongside a lot of other contractors who were addressing other house issues. Zach and Doug could not have been more patient and kind waiting for me to take steps, answering all sorts of questions (some not even realted to the work they were doing), and ultimately not trying to upsell things I didn't really need. The contractor came in 2020 to clean up an old squirrel nest and seal the openings. Attic looked great, but to seal the interior opening they stapled a small piece of chickenwire on top of the already-chewed-through white material; the squirrel came back next season, chewed around it, and rebuilt the nest with the mess and the fleas that come with it. Cut to 2022, it took several calls over two weeks for them to remember that I am an existing customer under warranty with me having to explain every time that an exterior opening needs to be sealed to keep the rodent out. Multiple times they failed to call me back, and once they found my records, I got ghosted by the QA Tech that was supposed to show. Was informed later that I was not notified due to "poor reception" -- interesting that the receptionist was able to find that out, yet nobody informed me. Super frustrating, as I have a full-time job and other errands to run, and I got up early and blocked out the time to meet them. If you do contract them, I'd recommend frequent calls to check on status. They seem pretty bad at that. read more

Attic Projects team completed an overhaul on my attic insulation. House had old insulation with significant rodent evidence (droppings, tunnels, blood, etc.). They cleaned out all the old insulation - no small task. Leaving behind nothing, including a bunch of sawdust under the insulation. Then they rodent proofed the entire attic space using metal mesh and a bunch of spray foam. On day 2 they returned to blow in all the new insulation. Exactly on schedule as they explained before the job began. The quote was exactly what I paid, not a penny more. Half on day 1, Half on day 2. They brought 5 people for day 1 clean out. 3 people on day 2 for blow in. All working hard the entire time (9am to 4pm). Friendly and helpful crew all around, no complaints in any way with the staff. The house was well protected. 1 foot did slip through the hallway ceiling (new guy) - but it was repaired well. Plastic was hung wall-to-wall to limit dust/insulation around the house. Light dusting / vacuuming was all that I had to do when they left. The 5 year warranty for rodents really got me interested in this company. I'm happy to have chosen them - professionals all around. Dan (from San Diego) was able to clarify an item on my other quote that wasn't necessary, saving me money and additional trouble. I highly recommend Attic Projects for being one of those rare honest and decent companies around that cares about doing the right thing, even if they're not benefitting from it. I'd heard a rat scurrying around in my gutter a couple of nights in a row and was worried that I might have a rat infestation in my attic, so I called Attic Projects and they said they would send someone to assess it and give me a free estimate for remediation. Jason was the crew member who came to inspect it. He found evidence that a rat had been in the attic but it seems I had successfully scared it off and there was no sign of an infestation. However, while doing the assessment, he found I had some mold in the attic. Just the mention of mold was scary because of the dangerous health effects it can have. I was bracing myself for what the cost would be for dealing with it. Fortunately, Jason was both super honest and very helpful. He told me that both the rat and the mold problems were minor jobs that I could remedy myself. He explained exactly what I needed to do for the mold, even down to what product I should use, and what steps I should take to ensure a rat would not regain entry into the attic. I was so grateful for his advice and his generosity in sharing his expertise about these issues. I would not hesitate to hire Attic Projects if I ever do develop a worse problem in my attic, and I recommend them as the first company to call if there's a problem with rats, insulation or mold in your attic. Before Jason came out, I had already lined up an appointment with another Attic company -- the one that seems to be their biggest competitor -- and I forgot to cancel it. VERY disappointed with this company. In the initial phases of estimating and setting up services they were great, but now I can see that was just a part of the sales process and does not carry over beyond. We used them to replace the insulation in our attic as well as some small venting projects. In the sales estimate visit we were told there were droppings in our ceiling and services to abate and treat were quoted. However, in speaking to the workers doing they job, there were no droppings of any kind present. So that kicked things off in a negative way. One item on the list was to do an air seal on our attic hatch. They charged me $550 for this. I was then surprised to see that they used a $5 roll of foam tape and spent about 5 minutes putting that around the edge of the hatch. We hired them for a professional job, not something we could have done ourselves for a couple of dollars. One of the items on their scope of work included replacing a dryer vent that had been bent. It took four weeks to complete this work. On day one they took it off and threw it away but did not have a replacement to install. They covered the hole with some tape. On day two they showed up again without parts. They had a sales person drop one off that was not rodent proof per our agreement. They then told me someone would be there the next day to finish the work. I was then passed around from technician to technician and each time it was starting all over again. The vent needed a specific style so they would not have to cut into the siding of my house. They came back time and again with the same wrong part. I did the research and sent them links to 3 different ones that would work. They refused to get the appropriate part. Over the course of the next several weeks they came by with the wrong part, they sometimes didn't show up when they said they would, promised me repeatedly that they would solve it. After four weeks of this nonsense they sent someone again who still had the wrong type of vent. In the end I had then cut into my siding which I did not want to do just to be done with them. Had they not thrown away the vent I had without a replacement, I could have cancelled this part of the work, but did not have that option because of how poorly they handled this all. Up until this point I had been patient and pretty accommodating of this back and forth. At the end of this all I spoke with them about this process, how poorly it was handled and that I expected they would do something about the cost of this part of the work. Instead they insisted the only issue was a supply chain one and that it took so long because parts were hard to come by. I was appalled and shocked. A business with integrity would own the mistake, work out a compromise on the cost and want to retain their customer. It was clear that they did not care, and took no responsibility for their errors. I was really impressed with Attic Projects. The impression started with me entering my information on a Saturday to get a quote. No expectations for a real-time reply. I received a call in around 5-10 minutes from what I remembered. Two of their competitors on whose websites I left the same request didn't get back to me until the next week - Tuesday or later. I scheduled an appointment for a quote that Saturday. Clint came out and did a great job looking around and measuring. He gave me a very concise itemized quote before he left. It was about what I expected price wise and he was very courteous and professional. I decided to go with Attic Projects. The team(s) at Attic Projects did a really nice job in our homes crawl space. Upon inspection, Matt found leaking air HVAC ducts, poorly installed insulation and mold. Day one the team cleared out the crawl space, removed the old insulation, repaired the leaking HVAC ducts and remediated the mold. The team on day 2 replaced the insulation and put down a new vapor barrier. Overall we are pleased with the work done by Attic Projects. Regarding the price, I don't know if their price was competitive, as we wanted the work done quickly and did not obtain multiple bids. We contracted with them to clean our crawl space, put down new vapor barrier, re-tape and insulate ducting, and clean out and reinsulate our attic. The promise was not fulfilled on re-taping the ducts as we discovered when we had the ducts cleaned. One of the ducts joints was not even connected and we had to have it tape, all within 3 weeks of their work. In the attic, I found the old insulation still present under the new. It was not cleaned out as promised. We had to have carpets cleaned after their work as they walked in and out with wet booties and drug the dirty hose over the carpet and chipped some of the paint on wall corners. We live in an older home near a large park area. Since buying our home, we've had to deal with the occasional rat. These guys came out and sealed my entire attic space - vs setting a few traps. Then vacuumed out the entire space that had nearly 100 years of debris - including from our new roof and insulated the entire house. Update: After I posted my review, we received a call from the estimator. He said Attic Projects would remove the rat feces and insulation at a reduced cost, but the quoted amount was still a major expense and on top of the amount we already paid. The owner eventually also called to address the situation. After some discussion, he offered to remove the rat feces and insulation for free. While we appreciated the offer, we didn't post our review to get free services, so we hired another company, which did the exact same work well for significantly less and without any hidden or additional fees. read more

I have been totally impressed with this crew. I feel like the company sent their A-Team. Chris was the lead, and his helpers Ulises and Quenton were the best. From the moment they arrived, promptly BEFORE they said, those people were busting butt. They never stopped working, kept me informed of every step, took a ton of photos for me, took me into the attic a few times to see the work as it progressed and to discuss their plan for the next stages of work, and they took me into the attic to see the end result. Having rats invade the crawl spaces of your home is bad enough. They do a lot of damage. It is expensive to eradicate them. So I tried to do due diligence in choosing a company to take care of it. They had decent reviews an informative website, seemed OK. Unfortunately it's been an expensive mistake. Their crew had little to no experience, contrary to the information on their website. From inconsistently wearing masks, playing loud music while they worked even though we were home during their work (had to ask several times to have them turn it off). They did not follow their own stated protocols - basically did no rat abatement just changed out the insulation. Left garbage in my yard from the insulation that we ended up having to clear. They didn't even instal the insulation correctly! So within days the rats had soiled the new insulation. To add insult to injury through their carelessness rats gained access they had not had before to our garage and destroyed some items. I complained, they came back out. Again inconsistent mask use, caught one of the crew spitting while on my property, they did a better job of disinfecting and plugging holes although they missed a few we had to point out. Now they have trapped rats in the wall and we can hear them trying to chew their way out. This has been a nightmare. They are probably fine for simple insulation issues. But they need to get out of the pest abatement business because they do not seem to have the expertise and experienced crew to support this service. read more

My in-laws recently purchased a home only to find out that I had a major insulation and rodent issue in their attic. Gross I know. I did my due diligence for them and had 3 local companies come out for an estimate. I have to say that there was no question as to who I was going to select to work with my in-laws. Attic Projects was so incredibly thorough (a 3-hour inspection including the crawl space) and detailed with their description of how and why they were going to do each step, I felt completely comfortable choosing them even though they were not the cheapest quote, I knew I could trust them with my in-laws as they're really old. The first day of the job, the project leader Doug introduced himself and the crew and walked me through exactly what was about to happen. These guys get it!! Total professionals, hard workers and they invited me to poke my head up in the attic during and after the job was complete (I was too scared to do it). My in-laws received before and after pics and received a 5-year warranty on rodent proofing (the others didn't even mention a warranty or had a 1 year limited or wanted me to call a pest control company). They took amazing steps to ensure their home was protected during the job and they even brought in their Amazon packages that arrived when no one was home! We needed mold removed and insulation replaced in our crawlspace and got multiple bids. When Terrance came to evaluate the job, he was more thorough and knowledgeable than any others. It was easy enough to observe we now also had a rodent infestation, but Terrance helped me understand and show that it extended to the area between the insulation and heating ducts! The bid was to remove the rodents and all remnants, remove the mold, and replace all the moisture barrier and insulation. The bid was not the lowest, but they were able to bring it down a bit after discussing the details. Terrance was amazing throughout, even responding to questions on Sunday. It was a two day job with the crew starting at 7:30 and finishing by midday each day. Their chemicals are green and we did not have to vacate during the job. They did a three stage mold treatment process, eradicated the rodents and put new screening in place where needed. They removed the vapor barriers and replaced them and all of the insulation. They pulled back insulation on ducts and cleaned out the feeces. The job was done on time, and they even came back the next day to do a couple minor pickups i noticed.
