I have always liked Dr. Ventrapulli and appreciate his care, which makes this review especially disappointing. Recently, it has become extremely difficult to work with the office staff. My son has Crohn's disease and requires ongoing infusion treatments that are time-sensitive. We have maintained our insurance coverage and followed the instructions provided by the office, yet we continue to be sent back and forth between staff members and billing without clear answers or resolution. The lack of communication and coordination has created unnecessary stress during a situation that is already medically urgent. Delays in treatment for patients with chronic illnesses can have serious consequences. Again, my concern is not with Dr. Ventrapulli's medical care, which I value, but with the administrative process and the difficulty in getting timely assistance from the office staff. I hope the office can improve its communication and patient support moving forward. read more

In addition to that, they CONSTANTLY overcharged me on my copay. So much so that they had to audit my account and issue a pretty big refund. It's too bad because I really like my doctor here. But I don't have the money to pay their illegal fee nor do I have the money and patience to consistently have to get refunded on my copay. This is far and away the best Rheumatology practice in LA. Dr V was able to diagnose me and set me on the road to recovery, and Dr Scaramangus-Plumley has cared for me ever since. I would never go anywhere else - in fact, I live 400 miles away now and commute for my care. Some people object to the admin fee, and I'm not rich so I get it, but in 2025 with the concierge service taking off across LA, I'm just grateful they still take insurance and don't charge monthly concierge fees. If a small admin fee at the start of each year allows them to continue providing unparalleled service, I'm going to find a way to pay it. When I think of all the money I wasted on subpar medical care before them, I'm way ahead of the game even with the fee. And you can't put a price on exceptional medicine or caring. They provide both, beautifully. I am incredibly grateful. read more

My experience with Dr. Mahajan's staff was so frustrating, it triggered nerve pain--literally. When I called to schedule an appointment, Rozhia rushed me off the phone and couldn't answer basic questions about insurance or whether the office was part of Cedars-Sinai. She did, however, successfully transmit my medical history to the doctor. Things deteriorated with Jasmine. After confirming that my symptoms aligned with the doctor's specialty and that I could remain in LA for multiple visits, I asked about billing my out-of-network insurer. She repeatedly referred to a vague reimbursement "policy" that Blue Shield doesn't accept and later admitted didn't actually exist. When I explained that my insurer required a simple one-page form--something that would take ten minutes and mean a great deal to me--she just kept repeating the same script about "office policy." When I asked to speak to the manager, she boasted, "I AM the manager." I requested a call back from the doctor or at least someone who could meaningfully address billing. No one ever followed up. Not the doctor, not anyone. The whole interaction left me with the impression that their main interest was in me as a cash patient, not as someone genuinely seeking care. Given the indifference and lack of professionalism, I went elsewhere. The staff reflects the doctor--and that was all I needed to know. read more

I don't even know where to begin. This review is for Dr Azzam. He is the most caring, patient, empathetic doctor. He doesn't rush you and always responds to messages same day. He takes your concerns seriously and works hard to get to the bottom of your issues. Having chronic illnesses suck but I'm so so grateful for Dr Azzam- he is incredible. The practice also takes most insurances which is amazing. Highly recommend coming here. I actually get very good care from Attune, but I was a little perturbed when, after a few visits, they told me I would have to pay an annual administrative fee if I wanted to continue seeing my doctor. Seeing as I was prescribed a medication that requires periodic blood tests, I saw no way of switching to another doctor in order to avoid the fee. If they had told me about this fee before my first visit, I would have gone to another doctor. Lo and behold, I have since found out that charging this fee on top of what is covered by insurance is actually illegal. So as much as I like my doctor there, I feel it is only right to warn others that Attune runs an illegal bait and switch where they bilk you out of extra money after they hook you on their care. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Wallace and Dr. Mahajan for 4 years at Attune Health when I was told they no longer accept insurance and I was bumped down to the NP, which I didn't want. I was told Dr. Venturupalli was still taking insurance and I sent over my "new patient forms" two months ago and I was told he was booking in JUNE. So I made an appointment for June and just got an email 2 MONTHS LATER stating they have no room for new patients right now. This is not great patient practice AT ALL. The office staff manager won't return calls, nor provide any explanation other than "We aren't accepting new patients". Well, then why bother to even ask me to fill out paperwork?? I have been in the middle of a bad lupus flare since I made the appointment, and this is JUST NOT OK to notify someone two months after they had you fill out new patient paperwork and say oh wait, never mind, we aren't PICKING you. I could have found another doctor and been seen by now and received some infusions or whatever else I needed. There are also some weird questions on their new patient forms such as "why do you want to be seen at our practice" when the answer is simple, I was already a patient of Attune for other doctors AND I've seen Dr. Venturpalli several times before, as he was the Dr. that gave me a second opinion when I first was diagnosed. This feels very "selective" as if your case is "not interesting/severe" enough OR you don't have piles of extra money to pay a concierge fee of $750 a year. I don't know anyone on disability who has all this extra money lying about for concierge fees. I see the same comments from other people on Yelp about the same issues. I was willing to put up with Dr. Wallace's poor bedside manner because apparently, he's very smart (he had a sign on his desk that says his Ph.D trumps your else's Google search which is a total eyeroll; but I'll say if it weren't for Google, I wouldn't have any answers to some of my more unique health problems), I was willing to deal with getting schlepped around to everyone else in the office, but it's NOT OK to just blow off sick patients like this. I also got lost in their parking lot (which is not very big) from brain fog and still, they wanted me to pay a late fee to see the NP who had only carved out 15 minutes for my case when there was only one other patient that was already in the room with the doctor. Was treated rudely by the office staff for being late to the point I burst into tears and left...so sorry for interrupting their super important Christmas decorating with my very real medical issues and struggles. I came to Dr. Mahajan's beautiful office for a slight tremor in my hand. I was pretty scared because my dad had Parkinson's and was this a sign that I was also getting it? Her staff were lovely and attentive and I immediately felt better the moment Dr. Mahajan stepped into my room. She did an initial examination followed up by a nerve test. She is so warm and has a great sense of humor which totally put me at ease. And I never felt rushed!! When she called a few days later to give me her final evaluation (I'm fine, thanks for asking!) again - she was so easy to speak with. Lots of doctors ask patients questions but she truly LISTENS! Saw Dr. Mark Riley for complications due to Ciprofloxacin toxicity. Absolutely useless appointment and clueless physician. Scheduled me for an ultrasound only to be told by the doctor conducting the ultrasound that he couldn't do an ultrasound on the affected area. When I asked Dr. Riley why he scheduled it for me he said he thought it was worth checking that area too. He ordered labs, never followed up on the results and wanted me to schedule yet another appointment. He then suggested steroids which are known to make the symptoms I was experiencing worse. I then received a copy of what he billed my insurance, which only further upset me. Complete lack of care or knowledge, and when pressed to confirm knowledge of my issue, he feigned confidence. read more

If you want a physician that will help you with your medical problems, come to Attune. These doctors will save your life. I have gone to other rheumatologists who merely check boxes in order to keep Medicare and other insurance companies satisfied. It often feels like many docs are more interested in taking care of their own interests than taking care of our health. This can be discouraging and exhausting. At Attune, the physicians truly evaluate you-- they listen, they care, and they do a full work up like you won't get at other offices. And their lab is world class. I had an entire year of negative lupus labs at a large renowned university lab before walking in here and getting accurate positive labs from their lab. They simply use more accurate, more thorough labs for bloodwork. They also run labs I suspect most doctors have no idea how to run. I come here once a year just to make sure my lupus is in check, or when my other rheumatologist cant handle a problem (i.e. non-routine lupus health issues). Dr. Wallace saved my life from a very hard-to-diagnose SLE CNS Vasculitis case in 1997, and although I see another physician for routine care, if I have a big problem I come here. He's frankly the only one I trust or feel understands and can handle my complex diagnosis. I send loved ones and friends here who have severe, hard to diagnose rheumatic disease. I really can't believe that I had such a good experience at a medical visit that I HAD TO WRITE A REVIEW! Attune Health almost makes going to the doctor's office a pleasure! Why you ask? In chronological order: 1. The front door is propped open, so you can enter the medical suite without touching anything. 2. The lobby is bright, spacious and welcoming. 3. The reception staff (Krystal and Allyson) is friendly, professional and super helpful. Doubly awesome, they send you to new patient paperwork to complete before the visit... no sitting in the lobby for 20 minutes filling out page after page of forms!!! 4. The Restrooms are big and super clean (very important if you have to give a sample!). 5. The patient rooms are big and super clean too! 6. The doctors are excellent. Both of the referrals I have been given to this practice have been by top doctors in their fields (an internist and an ENT surgeon) that are very stingy with praise. In short, both doctors told me that they refer patients to Attune Health when they are stumped and need the help of specialists that are the diagnostic equivalent of "Sherlock Holmes." And 7. Even giving blood at Attune Health is a pleasure! First, they only let one patient in at a time. Second, the lab is bright/spacious. And third, the phlebotomist, Norma, is kind, has a gentle touch and talked to me so engagingly about her and my kids, that I barely noticed that she drew 12 vials of blood! I thought it best to see a triple board certified neurologist. I received a disheartening phone call from Doctors assistant cancelling my appointment as Doctor couldn't do anything different for me. Dr. Shalini Mahajan, MD Didn't even have the audacity to examin me, call me or assist me in any way. I had a negative response to the Covid booster vax that left me with several side effects. The worst is the loss of use function to my left hand and deminished function of my right hand. My GP suggested that I go to Attunde Health. a rheumatology practice. They recently moved into some very nice facilities in Beverly Hills. The office alone should instill a feeling of professionalism and that's just what you get. Stephen Meyer is new to the practice. He super patient and gives the impression that he is listening to every word--and he is. He has a very mild bed-side manner and is willing to listen to your opinion on how to treat this situation. The two of us, prior to the latest appointment had spoken with my GP and all of us had worked out a plan of action. Stephanie, the office manager helps keep this office humming and that is no small task. The office is large with a equally large number of staff members. Stephanie also is the very best phlebotomist. She gets you on the first jab. I just want to comment... the medical community has had a rough time during the pandemic (so have we all). I lot of docs has lost their sense of humor and sometimes forget why they're doing all of this. This is not the attitude at Attune! They are professional, professional, professional... all the way--from the front desk to the parking attendant. You can only wish more practices and doctors could be like this. read more

I hate that I have to write this but I just had the worst experience with Attune Health and Dr Scaramangas-Plumley. I know if you have an autoimmune disease you have felt when a doctor doesn't believe or want to help, that is Dr. Scaramangas. I am shocked by the dismissiveness of Dr Scaramangas. I thought going into this clinic that it was know for being more progressive when it came to autoimmune complexity and would listen to the wide variety of pain and symptoms I have been experiencing lately. I have Hashimotos but recently have lost all quality of life. I understand if she believes my blood work is unremarkable, but her bedside manner was that of someone who has no empathy for extreme full body pain. Her dismissiveness was that of a doctor that was trying to move on to the next patient vs really hear what I was there for. I had repeatedly said I was doing very poorly, had to quit work and have my family come take care of me because of pain, inability to use my hands, difficulty breathing, but her response was she didn't understand why I couldn't take care of myself. I have swelling that has gotten progressively worse in my hands and is painful and her response was that knuckle pad fibromatosis doesn't cause pain. Ok, I hear you but in my case it does, that is why I am seeing a specialist. That is why I worked so hard to make these appointments. I didn't go through this to be told I do not have it. I do not recommend this doctor. Maybe there are others at the clinic who listen, but this was one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. Amended: When reviewing my notes Dr Scaramangas added " I discussed with her fibromyalgia management, which she was not is interested in." This is completely untrue and no treatment was ever discussed with me and no options offered. I was diagnosed with Lupus 12 years ago and I've been under Dr. Wallace's care for the last 5 years. He is a wonderful man. I can literally say that he wrote the book on lupus because I read it years prior before I moved to Los Angeles. The quality of care in his office has always been good but the new facility he's moved into at Attune Health is a major improvement from his last office, never the less. He keeps a great bedside manner even when he's busy with research work on the side. It's actually great because if my treatment stops working, I know he can make trial options available to me that other doctors might not necessarily be able to. I'm actually donating extra blood every time I go in for some research that he's involved with. Three major pros: 1) Wallace somehow always answers my emails in less that 24 hours. Hell. Often times within 4. It doesn't matter if he's at a conference in Europe. Or if he's on leave for spinal surgery or if it's Christmas. He always answers my emails the day I send them. 2) CS-Link is great. I can look at every single blood test as soon as it's processed. Usually within 24-48 hours. 3) Dr. Lee is a great second rheumatologist. I've seen her a couple times for urgent visits or last minute appointments and never feel put out that I wasn't seeing Wallace. read more

I have seen Dr. Christine Lee twice now, and she is just the most lovely doctor I've ever had. She's patient and empathetic, and young and thoughtful. I've had my symptoms dismissed for a long time as "just stress" (mostly by older white men, let's be honest...) and Dr. Lee never once was dismissive. She thought it was fibromyalgia pretty quickly, and did all the tests to rule out other autoimmune issues to confirm. She gave me a sample of Lyrica to try, but was sure to let me know that it's also okay if I just want to go the self-care route, which was important for me to know. I can't tell you how good it feels to finally have some answers and not feel crazy anymore. read more

In reading these reviews I was very excited to be seen there and continue my Lupus treatment at this facility. My experience didn't quite match the reviews on this page. Front Desk So coming in I was greeted by the front desk staff. I felt they came off as condescending when they were asking how I was going to pay for my visit and assumed I was paying cash and started the billing process to pay for cash. I'm not sure if they assumed things because of how I looked or how I was dressed (I am a young Latino male that dresses like a skater most times). The funny part was that their office called a week ahead to obtain my insurance information and they didn't have it ready for my visit. So that was the first thing that didn't sit well with me. Doctor and Nurses The doctor I saw was amazing super nice and sounded very knowledgeable. the Nurses were super nice and treated me well. My complaint that I had with the doctor visit is that by the second visit my doctor recommended I switch to two medications for Lupus that I have seen tons of commercials on tv and just offred those options for me. These were going to be big treatments and without any other options given to me, they gave me time to think it over and I did my research. The medications had a lot of side effects and I took a while to think over it took about 2 months and the funny thing was that I had no call or follow-up from the doctor's office to follow up on what I wanted to do. I personally felt that I wasn't cared for as a patient. When I went to other doctors' offices they would at least call to see what I thought and offer to talk about other options but I didn't get a call or email from this office and I felt they were not concerned about treating me or helping me navigate or chose the right treatment for me. I wish they could have followed up or offered other options for me or opened up for a dialogue. Billing So with billing, I kept getting billed for specialty lab work I spent about 500 dollars on the visit and just lab work. They work with labs that are outside of my insurance network and I kept getting billed for bloodwork from just one visit. I felt that this was too much for my liking and was going to be too expensive for me to keep going. After just two visits I decided not to continue my treatment anymore. The front desk staff wasn't welcoming, the doctor I assume might have so many patients that she cant follow up with each one. This one was the big one for me because I really liked my doctor and her background and everything she is doing within the Lupus organizations I felt she was the best doctor out there. A simple follow up our invitation to talk about other options would have encouraged me to continue my treatment there. Finally, the billing was bad! I was shocked at how many specialty laboratories they work with! If this is something that you are looking for this is the right place for you but for me I thought this was extreme I paid about 500 dollars with copays and lab copays for just one visit. I take my mother here for osteoporosis injections. They seem to do a lot of things that are just not needed. I get the same injections at another Dr. I jumó in and the nurse does it in 5 min. Attunes waiting room is packed which is awful during COVID. They do not check vaccine status or anythin. sitting in the waithung room is not cool. Then she has to see the dr. Before each injection. It would be easier for her just to contact him if for any reason she was having side effects. They don't need to do welness check each time. It does not seem like it's needed. my Mother has Medicare and anthem. So maybe it's an insurance thing. But to be honest my mother doesn't feel comfortable sitting in their chairs etc. the entire thing is miserable for her. But all the people in the waiting room looked very miserabl.n it's like a factory that place. Tons of machines, computers etc. not sure exactly what they do. But it's like a factory. If you do not like that kind of environment and prefer a quiet office. Do not go to Attune. But some people like all of that. So if that is thing. They are great. read more

I found Attune Health while searching for Lupus trials in the Los Angeles are. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE along with it's related adjunct illnesses. So it's a sum of all sorts of weird things that could go wrong. And the body decides to attack itself. It takes not only knowledge, but KINDNESS frm Dr. and staff, in order to properly care for rheumatology patients. Dr. Lee treats patients that are in pain daily - me included, and has always an upbeat handle and is pleasant to relate with for my medical treatments.
